Quick question guys. Purely out of interest trying to get some opinions on what other devs like to use out of winxp or win7 apart from Linux obviously
Thanks

I always use Windows 7, usually with Cygwin because most tools I [attempt to] use are Linux only.. But only if I'm too lazy to use Linux. Linux is always a ****lot faster

CAN SOMEBODY MAKE A ROM THAT RUNS WINDOWS 7 & ANDROID OR IS THERE ONE ALREADY LOVE BOTH SYSTEMS AND WOULD BE NICE TO RUN THEM ON MY GALAXY NOTE AT&T IM WILLING TO DONATE
What use would windows bring?
Would rather run linux/unix natively. Can do much more than windows any day.

If you wanna dual boot Android and Windows why not just buy an HD2? You can buy them for under $250 NIB. I do not think were gonna get WP7 on the Note but maybe we will get windows mobile which would be much easier to accomplish. I still doubt we will get either. Wait a few months and I bet we will be dual booting two Android roms and have a full desktop version of Ubuntu running. Ubuntu For Android is coming! Turns your Android device into a computer that can be plugged into a monitor and run just like a desktop. http://www.ubuntu.com/devices/android For all I know though there could be some techy working on what your looking for right now.
Maybe?
Did the OP maybe mean Windows 8? I know they are releasing Arm and Intel versions. Just a typo hopefully.
Is it at all possible for the Windows 8 os to be ported to our android devices? Don't hate please..just a noob being a noob

Definitely not the full version but possibly RT.RT is the windows 8 version that runs on ARM processors.
Would be an interesting dual boot
Like posted above, the full version of Windows 8 is not meant for the ARM architecture that Android phones use, but RT (found on the RT Surface Tablet) is.

It would still need a custom kernel and drivers, which seeing windows rt is very locked down I doubt it will happen.

He means that we will see the exact answers after release. So just be patient.
View sonic make the Viewpad 10 pro which is dual OS Android & Windows 7. I don't see why someone wouldn't design an Android / Ubuntu tab.... It would be easier to run and keep up to date.

I guess, it will be also possible to run Ubuntu inside chroot. But instead of vnc we should use native xserver inputs and ouputs (if ubuntu for phones will run xorg, there are rumors that canonical made a new display server).
I got ubuntu running in a setup like this on a SGS2 pretty good (xserver takes touchevents from /dev/input/event2 and draws on framebuffer). But i have some problems with the drivers, touch especially (using multitouch driver because evdev crashes -> can't rotate -> only useable in portrait-mode )
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxats9ejrG0
But because Canonical said Ubuntu can run from an Androidkernel, this problems may be fixed already (for the choosen nexus handset at least)
I know that linux mint ubuntu uses base I'll leave here a question here. which is the best to build roms linux mint or ubuntu?
im not familiar with building roms but id say use mint if your a windows user because navigation is somewhat similar. or use ubuntu if your used to osx.
Personally I choose Ubuntu.

Since Linux Mint is a Ubuntu-based distro... both will be pretty much the same, regardless the GUI (I prefer Linux Mint, BTW)
