So I'm at the USC game and this pops up on my phone...and my friend right next to me, who is also on Sprint but has the Galaxy, got the 4G signal too! But it was gone within 15 minutes.

Might want to move this to one of the other LTE threads cuz the mods are going to lock it.....IN before the lock!

Hm, why would they lock it? Well regardless, I'm just doing my part as a loyal field reporter. And if sharing this glorious discovery first with my fellow EVO brothers and sisters is wrong, then I don't wanna be right

Yeah you might want to visit the s4gru forums for lte updates or download the sensorly app to see where 4G LTE has been spotted.

There's the thread by Sorax (hope I spelled it right) along with a running list so that's where they have been wanting people to post the newly discovered signals. Hey I know your excitement when I 1st saw it light up on my phone I creamed.

Just wandering gamespot.com and noticed an article referring to GTA 3 coming to iOS and certain higher end Android devices. Rockstar listed the Evo 2 as one of the devices. After Christmas search it looks like HTC is dropping sprint as their device carrier.

I'm almost 100% certain they're talking about the Evo 3D. Also where did you hear this rumor of HTC dropping Sprint. That's insane they would lose so much money. HTC has been working with Sprint even before android devices probably their biggest provider in the U.S.
Probably. a typo ...think. they meant. Evo 3d.

Link? Besides I seriously wouldn't count that as valid with any weight behind it.
And the EVO line is exclusive to Sprint within the U.S. & it's available internationally on other carriers.
Ex:
EVO WiMax (Japan)
EVO 4G+ (Korea),
EVO 3D GSM (Canada/Europe/Unlocked)
Yep I saw this article too and I'm sure they meant the evo 3d.
I think you may be right about the Evo 2/ 3vo confusion. The article I found was here although there is no link to any info on htc dropping sprint. Must be speculation.

I thought the whole EVO line was named by Sprint and only for Sprint...at least in the US.

I remember buying my HTC touch from sprint a month before the Iphone came out. A much better phone, even though it had wm. Then the HTC Pro, Pro 2, EVO,EVO 3d. If they do drop sprint which is highly unlikely, they will loose a loyal customer.
Ps. it also works for Samsung galxy tab 7 plus if interested. Side loading needed.

Every time someone says "Evo" HTC gets a nickel. There's no way they would drop Sprint. HTC makes as much money as they do by getting their products on as many carriers as possible. Every phone you see that they have put on Verizon, At&t, and T-Mobile were basically just rebranded Evos.
I've been getting a lot of dropped calls the past couple days so I called Sprint to see what the problem was. Long story short, 2 different people told me that they are working on the Network Vision project here in Los Angeles and have started working on LTE coverage for the area!
What does this mean for us evo 3d owners?

BTW, GO AHEAD AND CALL THEM AGAIN AND GIVE THEM SOME FAKE CITY! THEN ASK, ARE YOU WORKING ON THIS IN MY CITY!? GUESS WHAT THEY'LL DO! lol. They'll lie to you and say, "oh yeah, we're working on it right now" LMAO!
I can see already that this is going to be a dead end. OP, congrats. I'm waiting on it myself.
Well, here's the press release saying where Sprint is going with the LTE.

I really wish it would come to my area, it kinda sucks having in markets on either side of where I live, but getting left out in the cold.

If that's the case, it's coming to Birmingham, AL soon. Having said that, Birmingham never had Wimax officially released, although some areas do have Wimax coverage.

Hopefully this means they'll keep building it out here though.

I'm guessing this is a joke. Ask the folks in Beaumont, TX that have had eHRPD for several months now and their LTE build won't even start until next year. So I guess technically you are correct, LTE is coming everywhere. The question is just when..
Nope, they will only offer in that town and only to 7 of the 10 people there. Lol of course they will build it out! :banghead:

Armpit Oklahoma, well I suppose cows/farmers/and hillbillies need better coverage.... Dear sprint, even Dan Hesse said the 405 area connection and coverage was one of the worst experiences he'd encountered on sprint....please build here. Thank you.

Don't get too exited. Sprints LTE is a joke. I live in Dallas where they first rolled out LTE and I got the HTC Evo 4G LTE on day one. Ever since they turned on LTE here in June I think I've had a LTE signal for a total of 20min. I talked to a sprint rep recently and was told that Sprint won't truly be finished with the Dallas LTE until sometime in 2013. Each city they do a roll out just means they started in that city(1 LTE tower)

So I live in the fort worth area and get lte in many places except my house no biggie, I have Verizon fios....my evo 3d gets great wimax signal at home so does my epic touch... Well my wife just got the galaxy note 2 and she gets great lte in our house where evo lte gets none. Does the galaxy note 2 have better internal antennas, both phones get same number of bars for voice but she gets lte and I don't while at home.

its a well known fact the evo is a poor performer in comparison to the sammys and ip5 as far as picking up and holding lte.
That's news to me, I'm going off old flip phone standard I guess Samsung all ways sucked compared to Sanyo.... Then I upgraded to palm treos and then HTC Windows phones...now HTC since hero, evo, evo 3d now lte And all were better than Samsung as far as signal strengths go. I guess they have changed for the better. I haven't owned a Samsung since the blade or what ever it was called came out.

Turned on my EVO lte a few minutes ago after it dying today and I saw the 4g logo. My first reaction? Run a speed test. The results were... Unsatisfactory to say the least. After about 10 minutes of use I was booted back to 3g, but not before getting some screen caps!
Has anyone else had this happen in the Tacoma area? I know it is listed nowhere on the sprint coverage maps or lte locations so maybe this area is currently in testing and i managed to grab the signal somehow? Either way, exciting news for sprint customers in the SeaTac area!

Just noticed 4G lit up (for the first time ever) for me on my Evo 4G LTE while driving on 509 down by the Port of Tacoma. Speed was about 5.5 down and 1 up.
I'm up in Whidbey and we'll never get anything better than 3g, I still goto 1x sometimes, did a speed test today and almost got to one meg off of a 159 ping...
