So I live in the fort worth area and get lte in many places except my house no biggie, I have Verizon fios....my evo 3d gets great wimax signal at home so does my epic touch... Well my wife just got the galaxy note 2 and she gets great lte in our house where evo lte gets none. Does the galaxy note 2 have better internal antennas, both phones get same number of bars for voice but she gets lte and I don't while at home.

its a well known fact the evo is a poor performer in comparison to the sammys and ip5 as far as picking up and holding lte.
That's news to me, I'm going off old flip phone standard I guess Samsung all ways sucked compared to Sanyo.... Then I upgraded to palm treos and then HTC Windows phones...now HTC since hero, evo, evo 3d now lte And all were better than Samsung as far as signal strengths go. I guess they have changed for the better. I haven't owned a Samsung since the blade or what ever it was called came out.

I really wanted to like the phone, but I ran into two issues.
a) my audio over bluetooth was terrible. Compared to the Photon that I was coming from, the calls were very choppy.
b) Reception... I spontaneously went to roaming mode in my office, where I have NEVER had reception issues. the same thing repeated itself on the freeway where Sprint has always had good coverage.
I'm sure it was probably just my handset, but with the SGS3 coming soon and my Photon still kicking like a champ, I took it back today, after just one day of use.
good luck everyone.
This reminds me that I've experienced the roaming issue. I have airave hooked up, so I thought it might have something to do with that; even though my NS4G and GS2 were fine in the same config.

First issues and people are frantically returning there phones. The newer phones gnex EVO LTE, are gonna probably have more issues because of the new network vision rollout. Once that network is up and running, I'm certain it will succeed

Going from a photon to a New EVO you would see a difference in coverage. The photon is awesome in the RF aspect.
I was able to compare my EVO LTE to an Epic yesterday in a fringe area. It seemed to be about the same.

I have acce ss to, at any given time, the OG Evo 4g, the Evo 3d, the Evo Shift, the ET4g, and now, the Evo 4g LTE. If I am having problems getting a signal somewhere, and absolutely NEED a signal, for some reason it's the Evo3d that never fails. I don't know what it is in the internals that causes it, but it's definitely true.
i think it would be pretty hard to make a decision to return a phone after one day.. but hey if you dont like it you dont like it..
You're generally right... However, going into roaming, in areas that I've used most phones in without incident, shows a clear issue that I won't risk dealing with.
I've already resigned to dealing with poor data speeds due to Sprint's network... Good calling should be a must for all phones.
Should I have expected the calling issues to go away by themselves?

I remember working in Philly when the EVO 4G launched on the WiMAX network and when signal was stable it was impressive (compared to 3G anyway). I cannot wait.
I picked up a 4G signal briefly in Huntley,IL. (not too far from Huntley) I was driving and streaming pandora.
I did not get to do a speed test, but I did do a screen shot. Signal was gone as fast as it came on.

I was in huntley (just north of 90 on 47) last saturday, and no lte. This must be very recent.
I hope we start getting it within the next month or so. I'm pretty tired of these terrible 3G speeds.
I'm from Rockford illinois and we officially have no lte yet but i was told we will soon . Not holding my breath on that one:/.

No LTE from West Chicago to Lombard
My EVO is getting lonely without his friend LTE!
If we look at sprint track record these could actually be the speeds. There slow in about every network 3g or 4g wimax when compared to the others. The 3g I's slower than some pre paid tracphones i done seen surf the internet my goddness. I had to tuck my evo in my pocket when someone asked me to look up something it took a while so i just said my battery died and everyone said i thought you're phone last all day .My friend trac phone looked it up in seconds and he's on edge network ugh.

Be patient, they were probably testing. It isn't live yet and won't be for a while. Especially in and around the city, since they're moving outside-in. Check the link I posted. If Sprint waits for 50% site conversion, then expected launch would be September. Which would mean we probably won't see anything until August at the earliest. This could be sooner if they decide to start rolling out before 50%
Can this be true this guy @insidesprintnow posted this on his twiter and lately my sprint reception has been horrible can this be why ?

Our Verizon bill is ridiculous, and I might be switching to Sprint soon. If so, this is definitely the phone I want. What is this phone like compared to my rezound in terms of battery life, network speed, and performance?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
-Network Speed (For now)
+With Everything else
Probably the shortest & best way to describe that experience.
your speed is going to be heavily dependent on your location. Ive never used a rezound so I don't know what the difference will be, but the evo is a nice phone. Some minor annoyances, but if you can find a phone that doesn't have some let me know.
Going from a Rezound to an EVO 4G LTE you will experience:
-Much better, bigger screen
-Much faster
-Much better battery life
-Much thinner
-Much better camera
-Sense 4
-Terrible network speeds for a little while (unless you live in KC etc)
It's better in every way, besides the fact that Verizon is superior to Sprint in terms of service.
I have both phones. As stated network speed on Verizon is sick. And the rezound has great screen resolution but the evo is better in pretty much every way. Even the screen is better.the rezound feels like a brick In my hand. The battery life on the rezound is horrible.
If you can wait for the better network then get the evo
I love my shiny 4g iPhone!
You can always give sprint a 14day try to see how speeds are and what not. nd depending on your situation like if u have WiFi at work and home it may not matter to much about speeds.

And keep in mind you can just use the temp number sprint gives you for a week or so and then later port your number over from Verizon
It's rather silly to compare these two phones. I would ask any Sprint customers you know if they're pleased with their service. Also, if you don't qualify for a discount in any other way, get an account as a local credit union. I get 23% off on my bill for being part of a credit union.
This phone is godly. That is all

If you get lte you'll definitely regret it sprint 3G is slower then Verizon and most parts of the US the bill will come down tho, when I had Verizon and the amount of minutes I used to pay 170+ for two lines, it was unlimited data, sprint 3G wasn't as bad so I moved with my wife and we were paying 129$ at month big difference, if Tmobile had the evo I think it will be better at least till LTE rolls out I get up to 12-16 mbps on Tmobile but they do have some dead spots, att and Verizon have the next networks but they charged too much IMO, other then that the evo lte is my favorite phone I am getting the galaxy s 3 on Tmobile and most likely keeping my evo till their network could at least hit 5mbps cause I like that phone the much

There is some other info to compare with in other threads, check those out.
The short answer, in my opinion, is that the coverage maps are wrong (or not _yet_ accurate). I live and work in areas that should have LTE, but I never see my phone switch to it.

I agree with you on this one. I was in Lewisville, just north of 121 on Friday and had LTE but lost it on my drive home somewhere in Frisco. I have not seen it come back since then and the coverage map says I should have it at home and at work but I never see it come on. I think they only have a few towers up at the moment. I saw some techs working on a tower this morning on my way to work and I couldn't see the vehicle, but was hoping it was Sprint!

Is anyone able to get LTE inside buildings? I used to get WIMAX 4G on my OG EVO at my desk at work near 360 in Arlington and cannot get LTE on the new EVO. Maps say it's covered there. I can get it outside my house in Colleyville, but not inside just like WIMAX was. LTE will be useless to me if I cannot get it inside buildings. Frustrating. Thanks for any suggestions.
Lte was not launched in the first deployment at 100 percent due to high demand. Please check out s4gru.com if you have any questions. Theu have the best info.

A buddy of mine that used to work with phones went into my Evo lte via the ## codes and said I had old lte tables and needed to reactivate.the.phone now that the lte is on....because it wasn't activated when lte was on that's why it's not working. I went to a sprint store. Off of Macarthur and 635 in Irving...and told the chick this....she said it's a lie...just that lte isn't working. Should I try to reactivate ...how do I do that

So one week I have LTE at my house, and not at my work, then I get super strong LTE at work and it goes back to 3G at my house. Sometimes I get both, today I don't have LTE at either place. Does anyone know why Sprint can't just leave LTE on and leave the sh** alone???
Verizon is sure looking better and better when my contract is up in December.

I'm not sure what area you are in, but I'm in hartland, MI. and I was in my local store today and the guy said he had one of the tower techs in there and they said they were waiting on hardware to update the the towers so they put it on hold and went back to the west side of the state until they get more. I can't complain because something is getting done and the tower in Howell was the first one in MI. to get updated, so it won't be long.
