sgs2 emmc chip - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, as many of gs2 users last days I have bricked my beautiful phone ;x jtag cant connect with it, i figured out that there are only two ways, I can buy crushed one and replace motherboard or find a source of flash (emmc) chips and replace it. And there is a question, is there any chance to order this chip? Anywhere? My unofficial service told me that the will try to find this part but I want to find something on my own too.

Same problem here, what came of your situation did you get the chip ?
Dying to know too.. :crying:

its complicated and I needed to use black magic but I have new device for price of 50$, your last chance is to look for broken device

[Q] htc hd 2 overheating problems / new board

hi i had some overheating problems with my htc hd 2 for the past month. mobile wouldn't start up if overheated or close during a phone call and then refuse to start up again. i was dumb enough to take it back to the service with a broken bootloader which ended up with them refusing to swap the board of the mobile for me with the warranty and asking 312 euro from me to change it instead.
at this point i'm looking for a place i could buy a new board and swap it myself or any other way i could fix it. flashing it again will not change anything i've done that several times and restoring the bootloader and taking it back to service won't work either cause now they've put the info in the online service system that i have illegal software in the mobile and the company wont touch my motherboard (correct me if it's not called motherboard in mobiles but i don't know the exact term for it).
sure it's my fault i was stupid enough to forget about the warranty issue with the non official software but now that it's done and i can't get it fixed for free i'm looking for a way to get it fixed as cheap as possible.
thanks for you time
may be there one application that you installed that cause the cpu to work continuously which result in overheating
anyone knows a site that sells cheap boards for hd 2 ?
before buying a new mainboard .. try to flash your Radio
hi,
hope u found solution for ur problem
actually i have the same problem with my htc hd2 and i can't send it for warranty
i want to know what u did with urs
thanks,
Sorry but what has this got to do with WM6.5? Shouldn't this be in the General section as its not related o a specific OS in any way, just the hardware.

[Q] Indentifying Mainboard Chip (pic)

Hi, bit of a tricky one this.. the picture attached is supposed be my water damaged SGS2 mainboard - what a mess
(backstory)
I've since had the phone back from the service centre, looking nothing like that, so the engineer probably cleaned it up right? which is nice of him.. problem is:
[Q] Which chip on the mainboard is that? - I know, it's not much to go from, but I can not find that damage anywhere on my mainboard! Weird. I'm not an expert though so I have my doubts..
I thought maybe 1) I need a magnifying glass to see this? (I find that hard to believe when I look at the picture!) or 2) It's under an EMI shield or something, which doesn't seem right to me either.
Any advice appreciated! TIA
+ apologies if I broke any forum rules; I tried but I probably failed ;(
F knows, but I put a link up yesterday for the service manual.Download it and view it on a pc.Check my recent posts and youll get the hotfile link.
was
Doesn't really help, even looking directly at the board is hard enough, but thanks. You'd think you'd see the damage with the naked eye though, right?

[Q] Replace internal memory on 920?

Hey all,
I've got a lumia that has corrupted internal memory - after every flash something is not working, so that's my guess. The question I've got is two fold: 1. how do you go about replacing internal memory on 920?
2. is bootloader on the same memory as the rest the system? (if so, this might not be so easy...)
cheers

I think best solution is to find 920 with broken display and replace with yours.
You know memory is soldered on the mainboard and due it's size - 32 GB it won't be cheap.

Not a bad idea... do you maybe know where to find 920's schematics?

You will never find them. If they where public then the 920 could be reverse engineered and sold under a different name. Besides if you don't know how to spot RAM on a system board then it is probably best you don't even attempt to replace it. It will also be micro BGA (ball grid array) and unless you have a BGA rework station it would be impossible to remove and replace.
The next issue is that if it is messing up after a flash then there is an issue with the Boot ROM, and not the memory. If it is the boot ROM and you replace it, you will no longer have the boot loader installed and the phone will not boot even enough to flash. The boot loader cannot be flashed as it is in a protected portion of the boot ROM.
In short, as the other poster said look on Ebay for one that has a bad display and just swap out displays. Then you will have a working phone again.
Attempting to change any IC's on a phones main board is near impossible unless you have access to commercial soldering and desoldering equipment. The stuff you buy for the average consumer won't cut it.

Check youtube videos how to disassemble it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKd8tCAH-eY and google for Nokia Lumia 920 RM-820_821 L1L2 Service Manual v1.0.pdf.
in 920_RM-820-821-822_SM_L3&4_v.2.0.pdf you can find more information regarding memory.

Even if you find the manual and schematics, there is still the fact you need special equipment to remove and replace the devices. There is also still the little problem that if he removes the boot ROM he also removes the only copy of the Boot Loader that he has. That will render the phone useless even if he put a new boot flash on, it would not contain the boot loader or kernel. Nokia will not sell him a programmed boot ROM as they would fear he would try to reverse engineer the kernel. They only sale to authorized repair facilities.

[Q] motherboard i9100 and i9100G

Hello,
my brothers galaxy s2 has broken down. i found on ebay a replacement motherboard, but it is not a i9100 but a i9100g motherboard.
i watched the pictures closely and it looks like the motherboard's shape is identical as the i9100 one, the connectors the antenna al looks like it is in the same spot so i was wondering if anyone knows if i can screw a i9100g motherboard into the phone.
kindest regards!
Different processor, different GPU.

i have read about the differences between both models, i dont mind the differences.
My doubt now is if i can use a i9100g motherboard with the i9100 screen....
thanks
Yep that could be an issue, also...
If you use an I9100G MB, you're effectively turning it into an I9100G. You won't be able to use I9100 firmware, and you might have problems with the other components (apart from the screen) not playing nice with what's on the MB. If it were me & I was keen on keeping the phone, I'd get an I9100 MB (I mean, I wouldn't; I'd get a new phone, but for the purpose of this exercise), they're not difficult or expensive to source these days. I can only remember one thread like this (that I've seen at least; there has probably been a few others) over the past ~2 yrs, and I don't recall how that worked out (whether the person ended up trying an I9100G MB or not).
Edit to add - Hopefully TheUnderling sees this thread, he's pretty cluey re: the hardware side of things & might be able to give you a more definite idea of what things might go wrong or whether you can get it to work OK without too many problems.

i don't mind to turn it into a 9100G he doesn't use the phone for gaming or whatsoever. its pure for phoning txting and social media.
so do i understand you correct that if i get this mb and place it that the screen might not work at all or distort? what other components do you mean... earphones ? or the usb charge, the camera?
at the moment i will keep on searching then for a second handed i9100 for parts.
thanks for the details so far! :good:
I am not a technician but in my own opinion it should work.
All the differences between i9100 and i9100g are CPU, GPU and software - shortly, the **** placed on motherboard. Screens, cameras and other stuff is still the same so changing MB will simply turn 9100 into 9100g.
I'm actually considering the same thing (but also I consider putting MB with Qualcomm CPU).
Why? F*ck exynos and its overheating and brickbugs goddamn!

[Q] Hardware: replacing eMMC requires replacing the CPU?

Hi, the phone (GT-I9300) is at the already at the repair shop (in Beijing), but I think I'm getting ripped off. My phone suddenly got bricked (horribly, no response of any kind) and the repair guy gave the following information:
1. The "memory" is fried.
2. Need to replace the memory and also the CPU because they are "a set".
3. My data is lost.
4. Cost estimate: 500 Chinese Yuan (US$ 80).
I'm trying to make sense of it. The guy is pretty shady but I had little choice. The phone is not under warranty, and although I turned to the the local Samsung center first, those sons of b*****s won't even look at it because it was purchased outside of China.
From what he said (memory faulty, data lost) I understand that the problem is the eMMC (which seem to be consistent with some of the "sudden death syndromes" reported online); the question is why replacing it allegedly requires also replacing the CPU... One theory is that he just wants an excuse to steal my original CPU and put a cheap one instead. Alternatively, maybe the eMMC really has to correspond to the CPU, and if I want to keep the cost under $80 I must get a cheaper eMMC+CPU set?
A motherboard design chart with the location of the eMMC and CPU will be really helpful.
Thanks!

Look at this video:

Seems that all they do is replace the the eMMC and not the CPU!!!
