[Q] Stock ICS through Kies w/ out a S/N? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

So heres the story.........A while back my girlfriend had an i777 and had to get a replacement from AT&T (wasn't bricked but gps and auto rotate issues). She just upgraded to a S3. Now i'm trying to update the I777 to stock ICS through Kies. It will only let me go to Stock KK6. I know that you can force the upgrade to ICS by giving it you S/N and model. Heres the problem......The refurb that we got from AT&T does not have the S/N on the sticker under the battery. Is there any other way to get this S/N? Is there a dialer code for this?I am going to be giving this device to my mother so I want it to be completely stock.

Will the IMEI work? If so put in *#06#

S/n may be under about phone... if stock doesn't have that, screw the official update and go the xda way.

Under about phone serial number is different from sticker under battery by the way.

What would happen if I used a s/n from a different s2? Its not in the about phone.

Worth a shot. As long as its an I777. It seems it is necessary to detect phone model (verification of model) and not accidentally screw the user . Post results

NEED HELP - bought phone on craigslist INVALID IMEI?? how to fix?

I bought a brand new S3 Unlocked phone off ebay, or so i thought it was brand new. It has the screen protector and everything still on, just like from the factory.
I went to activate it on tmobile and was able to make calls but no interent. After doing a little research and talking to the tmobile support guy i found that the IMIE is invalid and that the phone is rooted. I am quite good with custom ROM's (windows mobile days) and am confident in my ability to root and change the ROM. With that said, what can I do to make this phone work?

Also there is other stuff missing such as the serial number. How do I change that?
I would like to just fix this and sell it, can anyone tell me how to put stock ROM back on this phone and set it up so I can sell it?
first thing, remove your imei and Mac address etc, you should never post it online

The phone looks like a fake to me. For a start the I9300 it's quad-core not dual core, and the information you have taken from phone settings is all wrong.

have you tried a factory reset it going back to stock room. Op btw you're in the wrong forum. There is a forum for American models.

I remember seeing that baseband version, or something similar in a thread about a knockoff phone, but I can't for the life of me find it...
Also that kernel version to me makes it sound very much like you got yourself a Chinese clone...

you've been ripped off mate. No s3 has 2 SIM slots. The T-Mobile guy probably hasn't handled the int'l model yet or he didn't want to break your heart. And since it said I9300 he didn't look into it.

You should also cover the serial number, how many SIM slots? It looks very much like a Chinese build with the device info you showed.

If it's a fake, it's a pretty well done one... I have to say that.
Does it actually have two SIM slots? If it does, then it is fake, case closed.
Of course the device info is just all screwed up... So that part really screams fake...
Can you get into download mode? Turn the phone off, then press volume down and the home button and keep them pressed while you also press the power button until it turns on, then release all buttons.
If you can get into download mode, you could try flashing a stock ROM with Odin, but of course if this is a fake phone, that operation might completely break it. On the other hand if it is a fake, it's pretty much worthless anyway.
I really don't feel very qualified to give you a lot of advice in this matter, and I'm a bit scared of pointing you in the wrong direction.. I know there are many guys here who are great at identifying fakes. I hope more people will find this thread and get you a definitive answer...

hi guys, in need of some help here, iv just updated my girlfriends phone which was originally on orange, but had been unlocked, to 4.1.2 jelly bean via odin, everything went fine except its asking for the sim unlock code, so basically i need help getting it unlocked again on this new firmware, any help much appreciated as iv flashed a few roms on this fone in the last year and its never lost its unlock, but for some reason it has this time, need help as shes going mad that her phone doesnt work, lol.

Switch back to your old rom, root it, unlock it by using "Galaxsim unlock" from Google play store then Flash the new one again

Download galaxsim and run it after you have flashed your Tom or if you do both want to pay for it I can give you a link

cheers mate thats fantastic, iv just rooted the phone on 4.1.2 with siyah-s2-v6.0b4 kernel which rooted fine, installed the galaxsim via dropbox and it unlocked it fine, many thanks mate saved me alot of headache there, really appreciated, great stuff

i had already downloaded the playstore version and as soon as i rooted i tried it, and it was asking for £1.60 to unlock so thanks bud for sending me the link, absolutely fantastic, the jelly bean rom seems canny aswell, seems to have speeded things up abit which is why i done it in the 1st place, as my lass was whinging coz her phone was going slow, lol...

Ye jelly bean is good I have 4.1.2 on my S3 and 4.2.1 on my s2 not had any probs with ether of them

Have you tryed slimbean rom on the s2 don't have as much Sammy stuff in it runs really good and it's quicker

i havnt mate i try not to mess about with it anymore as she just whinges when something isnt the same anymore, lol, iv had both an s2 and s3 before i got my nexus 4 and was always messing on with different roms for them, but when i seen the update for the s2 had been released, and with her whining her phone was going slow i decided to update it for her, hence my problems, lol, i normally just stick to breaking my own stuff now coz i dont get grief that way haha!

It seems to have a very early version of the stock operating system and for some reason the wifi doesn't work. Is it possible for me to put the most updated stock OS on it? That just sounds odd to me? Is there a custom ROM installed? Im wondering if the original owner installed a ROM that had WiFi broken....doubt it though. Not sure about os versions...the phone is quite new so I'd assume we'd be running the same but what do I know. Maybe that's the reason it was sold. Sorry not much help...I'm fascinated in the outcome though.

Check this out. It seems someone else here has broken WiFi after rooting and unlocking. I'd pay attention to the link thread and try to revert to stock.

My droid razr xt910 suddenly does not connect to my mobile network. In fact when I go under settings in about phone theres a section status and under network say unknown, service state out of service, mobile network state disconnected, my phone number is blank!!! Imei unknown. The phone itself works perfect, like the apps, the wifi etc. however I can not call or send a text. Call my cellphone provider Rogers Canada and they said everything is good on their end. I even went and got a new sims card, still nothing. At the top where you usually see your notification Icons my network signal bar has what appears to be a red stop sign obviously this is not good. I've tried everything, and Rogers says my phone is no good anymore. Running android 4.1.2. Really hope someone can help me I'm so disappointed and I can't afford another phone. I used Rsd lite 6.1 to flash 982.124.17.xt910.brasil.en.br . Did get flash pass no error msges.

i did originally and that never resolved anything, then read some more and someone on rogers canada flashed the brazil one with success so i thought why not ive got nothing to lose. Now if i try to go back and reflash i get an error at 6/20 in rds lite whatever that means

I tried flashing Rogers_XT910_SignedLATAM_167-SLC-M33.1_P042_A014_CFC_1FF_fastboot.xml however it failed flashing process. 6/21 flash cdt.bin_signed"-> Phone returned Fail.
I flashed 9.8.2O-124_SPUL-18_Rogers_P005_A006_S1FF_fb_CFC.xml with a Pass. Sounds awesome however still no network connection! I don't know what I should try next. Plse any help greatly appreciated.

Wassup Galaxy Users
It's been a while since I've logged on. The OTA has been available since the day after AT&T also A LOT of the s8 apps work like bixby samsung pass secure folder etc. I don't even want the s8+ no more just gonna get like 3 cases and a glass screen protector. How do u guys like android 7.0 on the s6. I'm also sad to say AOD will NEVER work on this phone uprooted butttttt our version is the edge clock and mine has been more efficient since the update keeping it on from 12pm to 12am is really the only time to take a quince glance. Whewww that was a mouth full hope everyone has a good day :good::laugh:

What region are you in because I'm not getting any OTA or the Verizon software assistant program for my s6 edge+....... what am I missing here thanks in advanced for your time

US but if the update isn't showing up I'm sure u can always download the official g928v 7.0 firmware and flash via install from sd card (Don't do anything if you're not sure don't wanna brick dat nice edge+)

Wowwwww I know I'm not the only vzw s6 e+ owner wit official 7.0. Can any other users confirm an OTA and region thx in advanced

			
				
I love the update. I hate that I can't use free fonts anymore and the fonts you can use are a dollar each and not even much to choose from. Also (and this is a hardware thing) I have bad screen burn on this phone. I've never had any other phone get screen burn. On a white screen you see my keyboard, browser, and facebook have permanently marked my screen. Kinda sucks. Lol I digress. The update is awesome. Really don't understand why this is like the only galaxy phone we can't root lol

I've been trying to see if the update is available for days now. No dice! I tried both OTA & the Verizon software assistant...
I'm using a StraightTalk (AT&T) sim card in my S6 Edge-Plus and from what I've seen, OTA is only available if you're using a Verizon sim card. I get the below error (and it has never worked really):
Settings>System Update>Check for system updates:
Service Unavailable
Software update is temporarily unavailable. Try again later.
Can someone please post a link/tutorial to the Nougat firmware?

Well I'm using a Verizon simple card and it still not working for it must on the west coast and made it over here to the east coast I guessing

Idk if it is a region thing or not but maybe it's in the west coast and haven't made it to the east coast yet I'm guessing

I'm not rooted but if there is a way I'm willing to help I did look in my internal storage and I didn't see an update file. Also I'm on da east coast

I managed to change my font with few apks for free I had to search really hard that's why I just settled with the few extras i found. Try search for official samsung font apks the few i have are below

Are you using a Verizon sim card in your phone? Did you get the update via OTA or the Software Updater program?

Yea vzw phone and SIM but I checked for my update cause I saw the leaked roadmap and I've been checking ever since. And one day I just so happen to be at my mom's house and I checked and it Said 7.0 nougat update available to download now and everything worked out great.

Good news now the update showed up on my device when plugged in up today downloading guys ????

I feel like if we use a 1 click root method it would work to a certain extent cause we don't have a custom recovery for this specific device which means we could brick a phone easier without the proper custom recovery

U know root super su root apps we still wouldn't be able to flash zip files cause we don't have a custom recovery and I think our bootloaders are still locked.
