I was trying to unroot to stock today and after relocking the bootloader I ran the ruu.exe. I got a bootloader error and the install failed and I was stuck at the bootloader til I unlocked again and instead viperrez again. What causes this error? Do I need to flash the setmainversionlow zip? Any help would be great.

Make sure you relock then Try doing the RUU from the sd card. Rename it to PH98IMG.zip and boot into hboot then just let it do its thing (30 mins or so)

Thanks for the response, but I went ahead and did the set main version low zip and everything worked fine. Again I appreciate you taking the time to actually respond to my thread.

No problem, I didn't know it was a pesky mainver error or I could have told you that keep that setmainverlow.zip though, it comes in handy

so, i just flashed the ics ruu, and now my hboot says tampered. should i worry, how do i fix it if it is an issue
I'm assuming your unlocked, even if you relock it will say relocked, tampered cones from having a custom recovery and ics. I have a stealth hboot it requires s-off but will make it look stock for warranty issues.

Phones bricked.
Not really... It has been posted about multiple times. It happens and is perfectly ok.

It is because you have a custom recovery
Gotcha. Sorry if its common question. Just got phone last week and didn't want to go crawling through old posts. Do you have link for that fancy ghost hboot

You got off easy. Sometimes it can get a little nasty in here when you ask an already answered question.
Everyone must still be happy about S-Off or the new leak or something.
Hi all,
For the life of me, I cannot find the newest RUU.exe for Gingerbread. I am on a s-off running cleanrom 4.3. I want to revert back to totally stock, stock rom, s-off and all.
Look in the dev forum, I believe it's listed in a sticky

Dug up con247's dev-host mirror just a couple hours ago over in Q&A lol: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22045045
Read through the Stickies in the Dev section, that thread in particular if you ever need other RUUs/mirrors of them.
I keep getting this error. I'm plugged in, charge only. I've tried several different cords and usb ports still no go

Good news, i swapped SD cards and now I am only able to boot into the bootloader. I guess the recovery was wipped cause it just loops at the white htc screen

Grab the boot IMG out and flash it. You could use the unlock tool to put your recovery back too.
I'll post the directions someone gave me

does it matter that I am on 2.11 running cleanrom s-on? will it effect performance or hardware/software compatibility

I am running an ICS Build with S/ON. BootLoader says S/ON Tampered. Is there a way to return the phone back to the factory default? I think if I ran the S-OFF process, I could do it, but is there a way to go back to square one from where I am?
It will always say tampered no matter what you do now

The tampered just means you have a custom recovery. He could re-lock and RUU and it would go away. It will, however, always say "unlocked" if you stay s-on.

Actually it won't. It says tampered due installing a custom recovery. If you RUU the stock recovery back then it looses "tampered". You can then relock your bootloader, but it will then display "relocked" in the hboot menu.
Edit: Didn't read that last post before posting. My bad.
I sincerely apologize for posting in the incorrect area. Thanks for your response(s). There are tons of posts about the subject but I couldn't find anything regarding my specific concern. I'll be more mindful of the rules going forward.
Thanks

The whole faking the S-State is quite easy to do actually. A tool came out not too long ago from which you can edit your H-Boot. It was on the XDA portal a little while ago. I'm on my phone but ill edit this when I find the post.
EDIT: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776900 <---- here's the link to the bootloader customization thread.

So I originally unlocked on GB firmware. I'm going to go flash to the .12 ICS RUU and want to unlock it again. Can I use the same Unlock_code.bin from when i unlocked before? Or will I have to get a new one?
Possibly. They eventually expire but it won't hurt to try. Worst that can happen is it doesn't work and you have to get a new one.

Is there any way to properly unroot the thunderbolt? I have tried the tb_unroot tool, the all in one thunderbolt tool, and the pg05img.zip and nothing will work. It always gets to the bootloader where its supposed to flash the zip and just says 'wrong image' 'no image'. I have to mail this back today or I am going to get charged out the ass. Any help would be great thanks
