Hi, this is my first thread.. I'm from Argentina so i'm sorry for my bad english..
I've problems with my atrix ATT.
Since a week i've been tried with GB roms and ICS, JB, but yesterday, I realise that couldn't erase anything, i tried to erase internal memory from the phone, even from the computer.. It looks like it makes the erase, but when I rebooted the phone, everything it's like before..
I tried Wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvick, and when i reboot, again, nothing happened.. It's just like before was.. I tried erase with scripts, with fastboot, but nothing.. I tried to flash some rom's again but i couldn't..The phone flash the roms, but when it starts, it starts like before, nothing changes.. The phone is working, and fine, but, i can't change roms or put files into the internal memory because when i unplugged the phone from the computer, the files are not there.. It's like the internal memory is in only read mode or i don't know..
When i tried to restore my nandroid (in other times it worked fine) when must to restore data it says Error while formatting /data! .. I tried from advanced in format data, but it says Error formatting /data.. I know that i can't flash the original firmware because i've unlocked the bootloader, so I beg you for a solution.
I really would appreciate your answers, and more if they are in basic english... hahaha
PD: i think it's in the correct section, i apologize if it's not there..

Do you have root access? and if so your apps may be stored on your sd card wich would cause them to stay after a data wipe.
fastboot erase everything except radio , including sdcards and do frash nandroid . Maybe it could help !

I tried with fastboot, but nothing happens either ..
It seems very likely this is a hardware failure. Not sure there's anything you can do, other than send it in for repairs...
In which case they will very likely either replace the motherboard or just give you a new phone, in both cases you might end up with a nonunlockable BL.
Sucks, I know.

i'm looking everywhere for a solution, but don't find it.. My warranty is void now, and a change of mother board would be too expensive I think.. I know that this is crazy (having an unlocked atrix 2.3.6), but i think that i don't have other option that trying to flash the .sbf 2.3.6
Do you know someone who did that?

I am having this exact same problem
Epinter cm10
cannot format, cannot flash, errors while booted up
It looks like a problem with mounting data drive, or some problem with the data portion itself.
When i wipe, nothing happens, if I try wiping individual drives, I get errors when trying to wipe /data and /cache.
If I try rebooting into fastboot, it wont detect it on my PC (and it seems to get stuck at starting protocols on my phone).
All in all, I have no idea what the solution is, or even the problem... but this certainly doesnt sound good :/

Hi Community,
my big problem:
I can't format/wipe /data partition
If I try "format data" with CWM (Syah 3.1 rc6) or stock XWLP7 Kernel it freeze.
Also tryed flashing with Odin 1.83/1.85 - XXKI3/XXLPH (with Pit+Re-Partition) - same solution - freeze during write data.img
Format /system /cache /dalvik work!
What could I do?
PLS Help!
format via pc as mass storage both sd cards an flash via odin
It seems OP has the NAND_rw corruption, meaning Odin can't read/write the ROM on your device properly, hence the freeze.
Go to Phistacio's [GUIDE] How to fix an unflashable / soft-bricked SGSII. It's in the sticky of this section.

I have exactly the same problem. nandroid restore data.img failed, can't make_ext4fs on it either. it will get stuck
Anyone got a solution for this?
Not sure if I had the same problem like you, but I remember not being able to format the /data partition using mkfs a while ago.
What helped me to solve the problem was using "parted" instead, which is also able to format partitions with various filesystems. It should be part of the recovery. If not, you should find it for sure in this forum. Otherwise, just ask me and I'll send it to you.
Someone sent me a private message and asked for more details, but I seem unable to send a reply. At least my reply does not show up anywhere...
So if you are looking for the tool, go here:
http://www.uzakmasaustu.com/download/galaxys/
MD5: 32ef822ee7609337d614e4fb6c5bc8f5
(Disclaimer: That is not my own site, I just found here the same file which I originally downloaded here on XDA as far as I can remember...)
Extract it to your SD card and then try running either one of parted or sdparted. I cannot remember exactly which of them worked for me...
Good luck!
hi, i have the same problem as Criminal23. all done by me to recover my sgs2 phone but none works i am not so advanced in adndroid stuff but this guys problem with his phone is similar to my own. I wonder how can i run those files "parted" or "sdparted" ? this posted archive file contains them both but i don't know how to use them. i think abd ? pls help i lost hope for making my phone to boot properly again.

I just brought my I9100 back to life from being bricked due to this eMMC corruption bug
Hi guys,
I have the same issue, anything related to the partition /data is causing me troubles since I first tried to wipe it when I wanted to install CM9.1. (and I had stock ICS 4.0.4 at the time...)
Do you think it is the mmc bug ?
I can enter DL mode but when I try to flash stock rom, it just remains at the animated boot logo for hours...
Tried also to flash rom (with CODE, MODEM, CSC) and Odin stays stuck when starting DATA...
Any luck on your side ?
Megosu
Did you solve your problem? if so how pls - above method? (i have done, bang on action for action what you did ) At work at present but will be trying the parted method when I get home.
hi,
I gave mine to the repair center, if it is not an option for you, you might consider doing the PIT file.
Have you also tried to scan your partitions to see where is the issue located ?

Hmm. I have called my local service, they seem pretty confident they can help me which is a relief, but they are a way away, but a journey that could be worth it. In the mean time, yes seems I have Nand based fail. Phone now mostly ok with 3.5gb blocked out. Not ideal but ok for now. Did the service centre magic your phone like new?
and, did you then dare try putting CM on it again. I really do want CM, but am now a bit nervous now... thanks for the reply.
there is no fix without replacing parts (motherboard I believe).
They still have my phone.
Did you scan and find where is your corrupted block ?
Did you flash the pit to avoid this block ?
If so, you are good to install CM, just flash the latest siyah first wich doesn't have the bug.
Let me know.
I think I'm going to resist the urge and take it to york tomorrow where they seem confidient they can fix it while I wait. I'll ring tomorrow and give them a detaled overview and check otherwise I'll post it in, but it sounded like he was familiar with the prob (didn't ask any clarifying Qs, just said yeah we can do that). So will flash back to the original PIT and restore original system (as much as is possible)
Then never use the stock recovery ever again ever ever ever...
Will report back.
Unk

Well I had a chat with my service centre on the phone today. Turns out anything to do with the mobo they can't deal with it, only the big mega Samsung tech centre can do that. I called them and my phone will be taken away for a fettling. Don't know if they will look at the custom ROM count and tell me they won't fix it (interested to hear what happens to megosu, as that's probably where your phone has been sent). I am a slightly tense homer. Feel like a naughty boy, though god knows why, when I paid hundreds of pounds for a phone that self destructs. Still quite incredulous that this has happened.
In my case, I'm still waiting... Haven't heard back from the shop yet, it takes around 2-3 weeks...
Have you tried the pit ? Then you are good to flash siyah or CM as long as you don't wipe from stock recovery (ok from siyah or cm)
Yes, tried the pit and got the phone back via recovery of stock rom. Then learned not OK reset from CWM if not changed the kernel (but is ok if you just format via the mount/storage option).
Now lost 6GB of my internal SD. :crying:
Samsung say 7 day turnaround. Once it gets collected.
Hi everyone,
So, I think ive damaged my internal memory...But let me give u some info first.
UK SGS3 i9300 on vodafone. I rooted it a while ago and have had several roms. I know the basics of android hacking since I've hacked several as well as my previous 2 contract phones. I was on paranoidandroid 2.22 or w.e. version it was, however I wanted to go back to a sammy rom, and decided to clear my internal sdcard n ext sdcard (more or less - leave my music folder on there foe example) at the same time. I only mention this because my lead has been a little touchy recently and during the process it disconnected a fair few times till i got the cable sat right. I didnt have easy ums or anything - it was mtp. I completed this and loaded my rom onto the extsdcard.
I then went into the cwm touch recovery 6.xx or w.e. selected factory reset, wipe cache n dalvik, then installed it. It just got stuck at the boot logo for a while, then kept boot looping. I then tried wiping a few times, and a couple of different roms, and during this time I noticed that when I click wipe data it rebooted recovery. I then downloads the appropriate stock firmware to flash via odin. I flashed it and it was still stuck on the boot logo. I then realized I couldnt get into recovery, so I flash cf-root via odin, I got the 5.xxx recovery that comes with it. I tried to wipe all again, and it just didnt seem to work, I was stuck in a bootloop. I then posted this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1948255
So yeah with adb, I got it to boot, but i had the wrong size internal memory capacity. Then tonight I flashed twrp (a recovery if u dont know) (latest version) via goomanager and then selected in goo manager ti reboot recovery. Now my phone just goes from the sgs3 logo to the twrp logo and back, even if I boot normally, it does that, and same for trying to boot recovery. I can still get into download mode, but thats it.
I have since tried flashing the stock firmware again to no avail, I'm going to flashing cf root to get recovery... but we'll see what happens...
so what can i do?!?!
Have you tried flashing complete stock firmware through Odin? Then start from there?
You say internal memory is wrong? Might have to flash .pit aswell with re-partition?

yes I have, several times, if u read it all... Where can i get teh CORRECT pit file? I've tried one, but it didnt help.
I've just flashed cf root (after a pass on stock firmware) and its booted the ultima rom again... and still got 12.1gb internal... so my phone boots again, but the internal is still wrong! help!
You know that some of the 16gb is taken for the system files right? My phone only reports like 11.6gb in total to use.
Android reserves about 4gb that's why you only have 12gb free there is no problem there.

That's normal, the 12.1GB is COMPLETELY normal.
Other memory is reserved by the system.
This is usual and it should work that way, stop messing with it.
32GB models should have about 25GB~.

oooookk, TT used to show 16gb tho.... i remember i like the fact it read 16gb sd & 16gb extsd. nvm, im just wrong. thanks. I'll use it as it for now, still not 100% convinced but ya know... never had this sort of trouble with my HTC's :/
I'd just like to thank fellow-idiot for this thread, had similar situation (semibricked device, flashed something I should not have been flashing), and now my Internal is 11.3, and I seem to remember it was 14.7, just like my external - but I may be wrong. Changing ROMs, formating Internal, changing recoveries (now on Teamwin Recovery) doesn't seem to change a thing about it. Oh well, not that I'm gonna need it, just wondering where it went (never said hallo either... no manners, today's internal memories..)
11.3 is what it should be
Hey guys, I have a weird issues with my external SD card.
After I upgraded from Shostock to ShoStock 3 4.0, my phone stopped automatically mounting my SD card at book. I have to wait for boot and rush to my setting so I can hit "Mount SD" every single time my phone starts so that way the apps that depend on the externalSD won't get screwed up.
It's getting really annoying, and I've scoured the internet for answers, but I haven't found anything yet. Most people are looking for ways to swap their internal/external cards or mount it to their computer when they plug it in to their USB.
I already tried wiping it and reformatting it; didn't help.
Any ideas on how to solve this issue and get it to automatically mount at boot? I can add/modify scripts if that's what it takes.
Thanks in advance!
It sounds like a bad flash. Did you wipe everything before you upgraded SHOstock3 to 4.0? I'm guessing that a clean reinstall of the firmware and kernel would solve the issue.

Yeah, I did a clean wipe and reset before flashing SHOstock3. It actually originally started happening when I upgraded from the old SHOstock to SHOstock3, but it seems like no one else had this issue.
Do you think it would help if I just reflashed without wiping? I already did a clean wipe and reset before flashing.

If the problem is due to a bad flash, doing a dirty re-flash (without wiping) will not fix the problem. I'm not certain that a bad flash is the issue, but troubleshooting methods would say to flash back to stock and see if the problem persists. You would have to do a full wipe and clean install of stock to be sure. I'm suggesting that you try re-flashing SHOstock3 first, and then if that doesn't correct the problem, try flashing back to stock.
Edit: But I think you are saying that the problem has already persisted through a clean re-installation of the firmware? Then the problem must be something else than a bad flash. Still, flashing stock would be the next troubleshooting step.

Unfortunately due to my work I can't afford to miss another day/night without my phone for a while
I was hoping there would be some script or modification I could make to force it to mount the externalSD at boot. But I guess it's already supposed to do that?
Maybe my fstab or whatever is bad?

I don't really know the hardware, or even the internals of the firmware, well enough to answer. I guess you'll have to keep mounting it manually until you have time to do some trouble shooting. You don't have to reboot that often though, do you? I sometimes go weeks between reboots.

I have to reboot every day, which really sucks.
Hello,
Today, I came back home and put my phone on my desk.
I went outside the room for a couple minutes, and when I came back, the phone was turned off.
I thought the battery got emptied, so I plugged the phone to the charger. The phone turned on, but instead of my custom start screen, the default Cyanogenmod screen was up.
Then, I got the "Encryption Unsuccessful" message, saying the only way to recover my phone is to wipe it and hope google backed enough stuff.
Now, I still haven't used the button on the bottom of the screen. I went to the recovery mode, thinking maybe I could back up stuff before I wipe everything.
My question is: Is there a way to restore back my phone without wiping everything? I tried to back everything up to the SD card, but the backup stopped once it reached the /data folder, which I assume, is the source of the problem. Can the problem be solved by formatting the /data folder from the recovery mode? I also currently don't have any clockwork backups, thus I cannot use recovery to restore everything to the way it was.
Please help, I have very important information on my phone and I'd hate to lose it.
The data folder is where all your information is stored. There are many threads where people have tried to recover data from a brick, I've not heard a single success.
You could just try flashing the exact same rom you already had, without a wipe. That might cure any system issues but won't help corrupt data.
It sounds like your phone has suffered a partition corruption or failure.

And what could possibly cause that?
As I said, I didn't do anything special or risky to the phone. The Cyanogenmod has been installed on it for a year and a half, so I don't think that's the problem.
Is there a way to extract some folders from the phone? I tried to plug it with a USB to the computer, but aside from the name, all information is unknown.
Also, will flashing the exact same rom will work? And what do you mean by "won't help corrupt data"? How do I know which data is corrupted?
And as I asked, will formatting the /data folder through the recovery mode will work? Can it cause damage?
I'm sorry for asking so many questions, I'm trying to be really careful with that and I need to fully know what I'm doing.
Thank you for replying.
Try ADB pull or aroma file manager in recovery, but if data partition is corrupt then your data is already lost.

okay nvm, I used the button on the bottom and it did the trick.
I should probably start backing up things more often because right now I use a backup from a year ago.
Thank you for your help.
Hi, wanna make this quick and short as possible.
Im new here, and I need help on my new phone.
yesterday, I got a Lenovo A369i phone that happens to be a secondary phone for me. So as advntureous as I can be, I tried doing what some of my friends do... Custom Roms. Im not a pro in regards with these stuff, but I aint no noob too, Im a bit literate bout these, but not knowledgable enough to fix this.
so heres what. Phone is Lenovo A369i.
Build no : A369I_ROW_Lite_S005_140823
Android 4.2.2
Rooted and Stock ROM atm.
I came across a site, lenovoa369iblogspot.com, and saw lots of Custom Roms and whatnot and saw a easy way to root and flash my device w/o pc. Using Framaroot to root and MobileUncle Tool for TWRP recovery then installation of my desired ROM. I followed the steps correctly, was able to ROOT(i had SuperSU and was able to use Root-Required apps) and had access to TWRP.
Now, it was instructe to wipe cache and factory reset, which failed at first(but I didnt noticed it caused I acidentally pressed back, and thought it was successful) then I continued installing my ROM(it was a Samsung S5 ROM) it started OK, until it was extracting, then it stopped. At first I thought it hanged, but it just got screen timeout. I left it there for 30mins and I thought it was done. Upon reboot, I noticed nothing changed and speculated something went wrong. So i browsed the web for other ways to install and flash my phone cause I thought it just didnt work. I tried getting a stock rom with build no. S110 and tried some ROMs too but cant get it to work. I also tried switching to CW and TWRP v.v. but cant seem to update/install it, until I noticed that I cant wipe my cache, data or anything on my phone through recovery at all. I can still access my External SD car, cause that where all the ROMs are placed, but as i try each ROM, there would be a bunch of errors like E: cant mount emmc, cant mount sdcard, cant mount cache etc etc. So even I cant do factory reset cause itll say it Failed. Maybe its the reason why I cant install those ROMs. I tried unrooting, no good. I tried to update the software through settings, but after download, it still goes through TWRP/CW and still cant install together with the cant mount errors. I tried the MOUNT on TWRP but i xant mount anything except for the External SD card. It says on the emmc "Emmc=0bytes" like there wasnt an internal storage to begin with. And its really frustrating cause I cant even do a factory reset even through settings, it still redirects me to Recoery Mode. Tried using TWRP/CW and even android stock recovery and to no avail. Funny thing is, I can sill access the memory, I can format the Phone Storage(1gb) and still have the internal storage(1.2gb) for a total of 2.2gb(even tho it says 4gb in the box, I think 2.2gb is the only usable memory) I can still access its file, save and do stuff. Heck, theres nothing actually wrong in my phone, all features are still there BUT I cant make a Factory Wipe cause of that Mounting Error. I want to fix this so I could finish installing the ROM i wanted and I also want to be able to factory wipe my phone incase I do something else stupid.
I really dont know what to do, its been hours since I started looking this up. I also fried flashing it on PC but it wont succeed cause when i start flashing, even tough it "kinda" detects my phone, the Flash Tool still shows my emmc=0.00 bytes. I dont know if this happened when ai was starting to root my phone or during the initial installation of the ROM, so I rally dont know what to do or think of. So I resorted to ask the real pros for help, cause I get OCD on these kind of stuff and I cant sleep or do anything until i figure this out or find a way.
Hope someone an help me. Thnks!
P.S., i dont have access to my PC right now, so I only have my other phone and tab. Im also not much well versed in advanced programming whatnot, I only know a few basics so please spare my brain on codes XD I need something in english if thats ok Thanks!
P.P.S. Sorry if this is not the appropriate place to post, feel free to move it if needed. And I also tried posting on the site where I got the ROMs and stuff, but Im afraid the last post was like months ago so I cant really hope for them to help me.
