S3 sync issues - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I have flashed my S3 with France 4.1.1 LJ2 Wanam Stock odexed and I am having issues with scheduled syncing. The email app does not sync as set in the schedule, I set to once every hour but it never does it. Same with my Plume widget, set to update every 2 hours nothing, stock weather widget set to update every 3 hours nothing...Any ideas?
I have just setup everything again this morning after a reflash and when I tested the email with 10 mins schedule it was fine, now back to an hour and its not working.
Thanks

[Q] 4 hour battery life

I've had my SGS2 for several months now and haven't had too many issues up until 1-2 weeks ago. I have Hotmail setup with EAS and push on the phone and normally I'd get through a day without charging my phone. However about 2 weeks ago I was overseas and had no internet coverage, I added a couple of contacts in and 1/4 of them synced. The other 3 haven't no matter what I tried (Editing, deleting & re-adding via Vcard, deleting and manually adding) which I think *may* be a possible cause of Exchange consuming a lot of battery power.
Anyhow I installed BBS as the phone battery graph shows the phone being awake a lot, and sure enough Exchange is causing a lot of wakes, but there's also wakes I have no idea what they are from.
Does anyone have any suggestions on fixing Exchange & my battery issue? Screenshots attached.
Install CPU Spy for the store. It'll probably show your phone is not using its deep sleep state, may be not even the lower CPU frequencies either.
This happened to me once also, and the problem was with the Mail Exchange as you're guessing.
One quick way to diagnose that is to do the following.
Go to
System Settings --> Applications --> Running
Find Email and Exchange Services, click on it and Stop everthing you can.
After confirming these services have stopped, go back to CPU spy, click on your menu soft key, and Reset Timers. This will clear the times your phone has spent in each CPU state. Now, exit CPU Spy, lock your phone and return in 10 mins or so. Open CPU Spy, it should show that for most of that time your phone has been in Deep Sleep and has used the lower CPU States a little bit also.
When this happened to me it got so bad that the phone was continously 'locked' on 1200Mhz. Stoping Exchange services was the only way it would 'unlock'.
I had the LUXURY of having being able to reflash my rom and getting rid of the problem (which may have been caused when i updated my rom without wiping), but i don't think you are rooted / using a custom rom.
In which case it's probably a good idea to find your Email and Exchange app in --> Manage Apps --> All, and clearing Cache and Data for both. Note you'll loose all your emails and settings, (which you'll be able to retreive when you resync it etc).
I was having same problem with the stock email. My battery which used to last about 12h heavy usage now doesn't last 7h idle. I fully charged last night and removed from charge before going to sleep, woke up this morning battery was drained.
The exchange email program wasn't allowing the system to deep sleep which was being a pain, after much reading everywhere I decided to delete my exchange accounts (hotmail, gmail), clear the cache and restart the exchange config.
At the moment, seems to have worked but many people who have done this have said that with the time the problem will return so it's not a fix really.
I'm willing to see how long it will work, give it a try as well.
If doesn't work, try K9, touchdown or a any other alternative email client of your like but don't forget to remove your account from the stock. When I removed my accounts from the stock email program, my battery went only 2% down in over 2 hours.

Ok, last night the exchange has started playing around again. Deleted my accounts and installed Touchdown.
It has made a incredible difference, in 4 hours my battery has gone down 8%.
My only problem with touchdown is that it doesnt push emails to my both accounts simultaneously, I need to physically switch account to receive those emails.
I also tried K9 but as I couldnt set up my hotmail account it didnt work for me.

[Q] Wifi problem

Hey guys,
I wonder if any of you has the same issue as me.. Basically, when phone is connected via WiFi it barely syncs Gmail/Facebook twice a day, I can go for hours without seeing a new email notification on the phone.. When it's on Data/3G it syncs properly and I'm getting a notification as soon as the email comes in.. I've checked everything on the phone, and I can't seem to find anything which would explain this behavior.. Currently I had to set Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep to never in order to have sync working properly when I'm at home..
Btw. stock ROM, haven't touched anything since I've purchased it.
Any ideas?

Do you notice any other internet connection irregularities when on wifi? e.g. after a deep sleep if you try the browser it fails to load the page straight away and takes a refresh?
No, after I wake up the phone when it's on wifi during sleep - internet works fine.. Ie. I can load websites in the browser, open up Google Play, lookup Imdb from the application etc. Everything is working fine apart from the phone syncing my mails and everything else while it's on Wifi/Sleeping. Checking the last time it synced in Settings >> Accounts and sync also shows that it synced last time hours ago (it didn't even try to sync while it's on wifi).
Can someone please test this if it happens on other phones as well?

uploads hang, emails dont send until reboot

I have the stock XEU 4.0.4 rom that started life as a clean install and worked fine for a couple of months, now after about 24 hours it stops sending emails (hangs on sending) or uploading pictures i have taken to my google+ account (set to sync over wifi), as soon as i reboot everythings back to normal for a day and then it will happen again, any ideas ?

[Q][5.0][Remics FireEel JB Rom]Email Syncing

Guys I'm using RemicsFireEel JB rom 4.2.2 from Remics and I have a weird problem with the email app. fortunately earlier this evening it was working and atleast 15 emails went in from different accounts after i opened it, strangely i haven't been receiving notifications this weekend but it was probably because of the push settings. As I cycle around the accounts in the email app it suddenly went to say "Waiting for sync" for atleast 5 ~ 15 minutes and I couldn't access the other accounts as well, I tried rebooting, force stopping and even disabling and re enabling the app but still no good... any suggestions?

[Q] When does your weather update?

I do a lot of Kayaking on large lakes and prefer to know if the weather is about to change.
I have my weather set to update every hour. It updates every morning when I charge via USB and once during the day at random times. The default on my phone is AccuWeather.
Is there any phone app that actually updates the weather on the watch or is this a problem regardless of the app?
I like the fact I can ask for the weather via S-Voice while not having to stop what I'm doing but since it's not accurate unless I click to refresh, it's pretty useless.
I uninstalled AccuWeather from the phone and rebooted. Reinstalled, set the weather (via Gear Manager) to update once every hour. So far it has updated twice within +/- 5 minutes of the hour. Hopefully this fixed the problem. If it is still updating when I go to bed, I will turn off GPS and not turn it back on until midmorning tomorrow and see if it still updates.

Well that didn't last long. Stopped updating after 5 hours.
Often mine update almost only when I turn ON the screen. Otherwise the update can never happen when screen is OFF for a long time...
I tried it with leaving the screen on all night and didn't get any update until I plugged it in to charge this morning. Maybe a future update will fix the problem.
