Anyone know risks of using CPU overclocking
Xperia ray have 1Ghz processor.
I think My kernel sets 800mhz.
Now i changed to 1Ghz using setcpu app.
Any problem?
Frying the cpu itself because of overheating.

Higher battery drain
Overheating... Sometimes in extreme scenario can burn your phone...

It will slowly reduce ur cpu lifespan. Its better to set to default freq for daily use.

Turns your phone into a heater if you do it right!
Coming from a guy who set his unmodified 1Ghz ST15i to 1.8Ghz and burned his hand with it after a while.

Great to know this, I overclocked my xperia mini pro to 1.2ghz and I was wondering if its still safe to overclock to 1.4ghz.
thx for information!
I clocked my phone to 1.5 and it's perfect for everyday use.Now that the cold months come it would be even better, not that I felt more heating though.. I still get a 2-day battery time thanks to the power saving options of the kernel and the rom.
Which is the best method to overclock.
Setcpu app is safe or danger?
I used the ROM Control in the settings menu.
Rom control not available in stock rom

Go to doixahn thread in X8 section ... here
NEVER try more than 768MHz
710 is better.
Read carefully please
If you break your device after any test (if burn it for example) nobody will help you.

if we _could_ go over 800MHz without deep frying our devices, then every custom rom would have a version with this overclock. i dont think devs are stupid
It can be clocked up to 825 MHz ?
Or have I missed something?

you can virtualy overclock at 825 ... in the best case your phone will reboot
in the worst ... it will burn
our mini is too small and the heat won't go off ^^ it will become hotter and hotter
put it in the fridge and test that
(i won't try though )
You can't, anything higher than 748 will most likely cause the phone to reboot, and that's the best case scenario.
psx4droid requires that you have 600mhz +, I think if you overclock to 650mhz it should work just fine as long as you are not running high end games like driver 2.
It wont burn.. My phone has been 825 for 5 days without getting hotter then before

What /???? does it mean i cannot oc my phone ?
You can o/c it to 1400 rather than 1600.
Mine runs at 800Mhz constantly since there aren't any app that needs more thanks to the nice Exynos architecture.

You might be able to oc, but you may also need to tweak the voltages.
Every phone responds differently.
Try different max frequencys and voltages.

There is finally a way to overclock this thing with stock rom!! It supports at max 1.3GHz which runs very fast and still manages to have very good battery life(Also requires root permissions)

I know with the ultimate version you can clock up to 2GHz and adjust voltage... does the "max 1.3GHz" mean this wouldn't actually do anything if clocked to say... 1.5GHz?

Well in the free version the Max is 1.3ghz but in the full it would probably work at 1.5ghz or 2.0ghz(that would be super fast) but not sure how safe it would be, it may work good on one device but not on the other, if you have the ultimate version you should try it out and see what works and doesn't(I don't have the full version but now I want it!!!)
Cool

Even if someone did upload ultimate, it does a license check. Besides, I don't think XDA wants to support illegal downloads.

Yes I'm using the premium version. The settings for that is (frequency, core voltage, internal voltage)
1600mhz, 1360mV, 1160mV
1200mhz, 1300mV, 1120mV
800mhz, 1200mV, 1100mV
400mhz, 1050mV, 1100mV
200mhz, 950mV, 1100mV
100mhz, 950mV, 1000mV
(I got these values from another post, can't find it at the moment, use at your own risk) I have attempted to go higher but all I got was about 50mhz more before becoming unstable. The app does let you go to 2 ghz but it doesn't work on the galaxy player, I tried but the screen blurs and the device freezes.

Hi guys, I'm trying to overclock my lww and I've been running some benchmarks to see the results. I'm concerned about the temperature - I don't know much about mobile overclocking and my question is what temperature is safe for my phone ? Currently I'm running stability test - cpu and gpu testing on 1.6ghz and the peak temperature is 38 degrees. What can you tell me about it ?
I'm not sure if the LWW has an SoC with a CPU thermal sensor.. Its probably the battery temperature.. Even so.. anything below 40-45 degrees should be just fine.. Phone should reboot on overheating I guess.. Most phones heat up anyways on charging so you should be ok.. As always overclocking will reduce battery life.. so will constant higher system temperature..
Thanks for the reply. So i guess 1.4 should be just fine for mainstream overclocking :fingers-crossed:

I'm using KRsH Kernel v3.0 ICS with MiniCMSandwich Lite Final v4 AOSP. Pretty good I would say. You mus tweak it a little bit for best performance.
You can overclock upto 1.9 GHz using rage kernel. But it seems very heavy on battery. My advice Is upto ~1.4Ghz .. Temp. Is max upto 38 on heavy usage.

overclocking is not advised as the oem set the clock speed to an optimum value...below it you will lose performance and above it you will force your cpu to age early.
for gingerbread you dont need to OC at all...however for ICS OC helps to run smoothly...i dont overclock above 1.2gzs...this is a safe value and wont push the cpu to the limits.
no OC and works fine
I used 1,4 GHz for a week on ICS and my phone is still going strong, but don't take the risk. If you can't stand the lag, use Jelly bean or Gingerbread.
Why nothing about underclocking?
Well i use underclocking than over clocking....my phone needs to survive the longer power couts in my location
one +factor of underclocking..... less battery drain ^^
For daily use i set min 245 and max 806 and it's ok. Battery hold longer.
I OC to 1.4; 1.6 to individual apps like Real Racing.
When playing hard games 1.6 gHz, but for daily use i dont overclock it at all, or i just overclock it to 1.2 gHz.
Im on locked bl and just use all day 1024 Mhz with performence with antutu cpu master pro and cpu spy plus (new on the playstore, very good app) and just running fast with Jelly sandwich 7.1 and in 1 word... Just flying !!!

Safe OC is 1.4 IMO.
But every silicon chip is different and you may or may not get stability issues after overclock.
Also, overclocking is like smoking. Though you enjoy it, you're effectively killing yourself.
If you ask me, I never OC my phone.
And @Pandemic, don't use performance governor,
It kills your phone without overclock.
Also, it causes battery drain...

You my friend, don't know what you're talking about.
You manipulate hardware when you
Overclock. But it's a completely harmless software manupulation when you root.
So you can root and still not kill your phone

1.9ghz for gaming
1.4Ghz bcoz Arc S uses the T variant of the chip which seems like just an exact copy at a higher clock.
my neo runs at 1.4g, 1150mv
my opinion
oc at higher voltage, bad
oc and undervolt a bit, ok

Mate,if you brick your phone software, that can be easily fixed with Flashtool,SEUS,PC Companion etc.If you brick your phone hardware, that piece of hardware become useless, and must be replaced. So you can't compare bricking hardware with bricking software.
