I have a strange problem with my smartphone.
The clock does not update until I "woke" the screen as unlocking for example.
It is 11:09PM. I'm locking the screen.
It is 01:00AM. I'm unlocking the screen. I see for a second 11:09PM and then it changes to 01:00AM
The problem there is for the Alarm. It won't ringing because of the clock. Even the application Alarm Clock Plus has the same problem.
Here is the specs :
Samsung Galaxy s3 International
ARHD 13.0
Perseus Kernel (the lastest)
I use clocksync on my HTC, and keep it updating every 30 minutes... don't know if this will drain you battery, but you'll need root for it.

This app use Internet right ? So yes it will drain battery .
I change the ROM and I use WanamLite for the moment in order to see if it's kernel/ROM problem.
Yeah, it uses internet... but it doesn't really drain on my phone...

As the title says, my p500 is awake almost 100% of the time. Even with the screen off (please look at the attached image).
The only apps running at startup (used Startup Manager app to check it) are Go weather, Maps, Market, Minimalistic text and Quick System Info Pro. On my home screen (Go Launcher EX) I use Go Weather, minimalistic text and Winamp widget, nothing else.
Is there somewhere I can look at or maybe some app I can install to see what is causing it?
I'm using Mik's CM7 6.5.5 and franco.kernel v16.1 bfs (this one gives me almost 30% more battery life than the newer versions) and running at 729/245mhz Smartass.
Uninstall maps and you'll be back in action
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
I can try that but I've always used Maps and it never happened before. Sure it eats some resources but I dont remember it causing the phone to be awake.
Uninstalled maps and phone is still awake.

Reflash the kernel. And I agree with you.I found the V16.1 better than the later updates

PROBLEM SOLVED
I was planing on sending the phone to repair on monday, but at the time and with the phone here i didn't want to give up so i thought of rooting it and reinstalling the firmware, but nothing worked and the phone didn't recognize that it was connected to a computer. So i kept search other ways to reinstall the firmware and came across a website that talked about a "secret menu" code for the phones and i remembered that this phones must had one and that from there i could do something, i did. From there i did a factory reset and, unlike the ones i did before by going to settings-privacy, when the phone rebooted it told me right way that it was connected to the computer. I also tested the problem with the screen light and so far, so good.
So, if anyone else has this problem(sannielyk reportedly had) what i did was entering the "secret menu" code : 3845#*500# and did the factory reset from there.
Apparently it was a software problem or something that wasn't installed right by the lg service. But so far everything is good, and i hope it keeps that away.
Thanks for the help

I think I've found the villain. I started manual proccess of uninstalling apps and letting the phone sleep for an hour or so to check awake times. After I removed Live Holdem Pro the phone finnaly slept through an entire hour.
Still have to test through a complete battery cicle tho.

Yes, I have tried it. It helps when you do not use 3G/HSDPA. As soon as u enable internet and browse the net and after that disable the internet, the Fast Dormancy process starts to drain the battery again and again. Disabling the Fast Dormancy does not always work.
I swhitched to 2G and then it stopped draining the battery, but it is not the solution, as I can't live without 3G/HSDPA... Don't know what to do
I have a strange problem in my Galasy S3
After last update XXLF2 (4.0.4) no root, and made a factory default and format.
However, I noticed that when I go to Battery usage ( Setting---Battery) , I can't find any application in the list, not even with 1%. The only things showing are (Cell Standby / Screen / Android System / Voice Calls / Device Idle / Android OS)
I down't know how?!!! I'm using Whatsapp always and twitter and Chrome, but nothing appears.
I had tried the code of *#*#4664#*#* ( or something like that) and showed me that Whatsapp using the battery.!!!
So what is the problem of mine now?
Any help.
Thanks

Chill dude. It doesn't show in mine also. I think it's different algorithm to segregate task. For example if An app is using GPS , and GPS is eating up your battery..the stock might put that under GPS while badass might put it under apps. I'm not sure though.

Hi everyone,
I've had an issue for a while now that i just realized was a problem. After seeing my girlfriends phone getting instant notifications for snapchat, Facebook, foursquare, and others, while i have to go into those apps to see if anything new has happened, i realize my phone is not working correctly.
I have the elegancia rom, on att, and as far as i can tell every setting in my phone is set to allow them.
Does anyone know why this would be happening? Or suggestions on how to fix or troubleshoot it?
This is very frustrating.

It is because your phone is in deep sleep to save battery when your screen is off. There is an app called "Push Notification Fixer" that solves the problem. I have used it for months, and it's great, it doesn't seem to affect battery life significantly
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5hbmRxbGltYXgucHVzaGZpeGVyIl0.
Would it be in deep sleep even if I'm using the phone? I mean, let's say I'm actively using my phone for an hour. And my friend snapchats me or posts on facebook during that time. i still won't get it unless i open the app.
I tried using push notification fixer for like a day and didn't notice a difference. Does it take time to take effect?
Would juice defender cause any issues with this? I use it daily on the lowest setting.
Also, does auto sync need to be enabled?

Alright, as of now, i have auto sync on. I disabled Juice Derfender, i checked and made sure background data is enabled on apps, checked to make sure notifications are enabled on apps, and also made sure restrict mobile data was unchecked. And i have Push Notifications Fixer installed and running.
Still no luck.
After talking with an htc tech guy. He pointed out that the notification settings are in the privacy menu.
On the elegancia rom there is no privacy menu option in the settings. Maybe this is why?
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
ist under Security menu
What setting is it? What should i be looking for? The only settings i have under security in regard to notifications are for the lock screen.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
I also have this problem with facebook, no notifications at all Tried several methods, also from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2174391
Currently i have Paranoid Rom on my S3
Edit: Okay, now they are working...
What I have observed is that juice defender / dx battery booster etc do not disable all the settings properly when disabled. So it might be (a possibility) - that it has screwed up your settings.
I am also on Elegancia ROM. ofcourse I have autosync on as well as PNF installed. For me it takes hardly a gap of 2 seconds when I get a notification on my mobile & desktop....
May be you can try to uninstall juicedefender (Check if there is any setting to reset the changes or not before uninstalling).
And one advise - I am not sure about you, but I found all these battery saving apps useless
Hmmmm. Ok. Well, i just switched to the Venom rom and i am experiencing the same issue. I went ahead and uninstalled juice defender completely.
Is there a by lasting settings that could be messed up from it even after uninstalling it?
I'm really on my last nerve. My phone feels crippled and u can't figure out why...

Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't even know how to troubleshoot this issue any further... I'm really bummed out because i love this phone. I just wish it worked the way it is supposed to.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
I fixed it! I still don't know exactly what the culprit was but i know it was some system setting that had gotten messed up. It kept following me from rom to rom because i used titanium backup to backup and restore system settings.
I ended up doing a fresh install of viper and installed snapchat first thing. I instantly got a push notification. I proceeded to install all the backups of my other apps and manually at all my phone settings again.
Thanks for all the help everyone!

Hello, so Ive just updated my Samsung s2 to the nexus ROM 4.2.2 and the battery is doing just fine, the problem is when I lock my phone, the battery runs out like if I was using it normally. I've tried setcpu app but it doesn't seem to work. For example yesterday at 12 am my battery was at 40% and I slept for a few hours than I woke up at 5 am and my phone was already off. I didn't have this problem on jb 4.1.2. Please I need help! Thank you

Install Better battery stats from Android Apps & games section. Enable watchdog in settings, then check out if any app is waking up during sleep!! On JB for me battery drain on sleep is quite low!
OK I'll try but if it doesn't work, I might change my ROM so which one do you recommend me for the s2?

Hi,
I updated my one x plus to the latest update everything running smooth, except the battery. With using i terminate all app in tasking manager before sleeping, leaving my phone with 40% of charge, after 6hrs the battery drained to 23% . Anyone have a similar issue and does anyone have the solution? When using the battery is great with 97% all the time 3g on and screen.. watching video on youtube and in chrome and browser for almost 3hrs. Battery drain to 40%

Rooted? Then try Greenify and select every App to be analyzed and then set into sleep mode.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify&hl=de
Are you running Custom Rom or installed stock OTA?
If falshed a custom-rom, try to wipe data, system and cache partition and flash rom again.
If stock, try to factory-reset it.
A good tool to see changes, is Battery Monitor Widget

You will see your standby battery drain in milliampere after let it stay for about ~5-10 minutes in standby. If it is higher than -60ma, there is defnitely something wrong... of course for this test, disable any other drainig feature like wlan, bluetooth or mobile data. If Greenify helped (after you´ve installed and activated it), you will see the drain will stay under -20ma sometimes even und -10ma which is the best you can get out óf this device and any other.

-44ma means that there defnitely something running in background, you normally get this with wifi in standby, music is -60ma + x
How long was the phone is standby before taking the screenshot? Battery Monitor normlally needs some time... .
I suppose you did everything right and you haven´t applied Greenify yet? So do that and check standby drain again

Okay so for what purpose do actually need to have the screen on so long?
One thing i have noticed is that, if you disable power save mode in standby, you will get even a better standby drain, sometimes -1ma and under! according too Battery Monitor Widget 0+ ma D so it´s maybe -0,5ma DD
Just for clearance, greenify only helps to longer standby mainly!
Otherwise i just can advice you to shorten screen on time
