Hi,
I'm currently S-ON rooted running a Senseless ROM. I've been tempted to go full AOSP/AOKP/CM9, but I keep seeing a caveat for the ROMs that there are issues with Bluetooth Calls. Before I plunge down that path could someone please elaborate on what the specific issue is? What should I expect? Are there workarounds?
I use bluetooth frequently in the car, so it has the potential to be quite important to me.
My understanding is that it is related to the kernel source being used and that is why it plagues all the versions, is this something that can be expected to be fixed, or will it always be an issue?
Thanks!
Bluetooth media will work fine. The issue with the calling is u only hear static. There's no fix or work around at this time.
Its being worked on at the moment. Could be tomorrow or next year. You never really know with these things.
Nobody is working on it right now. Chad wants to get to it, but he is really busy. (Devs have lives outside of XDA)
Wow your nitpicking? Hell must be freezing over right now! OK its not being worked on right this second but when Chad gets more time he will continue to work on it. Btw who said devs don't have lives and that we think they have to do whatever we want when we want?

Thanks for the clarification guys, these were just questions and clarifications, not a commentary on the fantastic devs we have [/no snark] I do predominately make calls in the car via bluetooth so I'll probably be holding off until there is a fix/workaround.
I did see it mentioned directly related to CM9 for other devices, not sure if it's related... http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=5349

I realize it's still on the horizon and I am not asking when. I have tried FRX06 and updated the kernels and rootfs as they became available. Two things I have not done is use the new RIL2 or try the new audio routing patches.
My setup - VZ TP2/Rhod500. Without looking, I can't tell you which kernel or rootfs I am using. If I were are my home computer where I do the installs, I could tell in a second.
My question is this - in all likelihood, will FRX07 incorporate the new RIL and the BT/audio fixes? I'm not familiar enough with ADB or some of the other things mentioned in the audio routing thread to attempt them at this time.
For the most part, FRX06 is workable for me. I can run it for several days without SODs or random reboots. Other times, it might be a day or two. I do use my BT when in WinMo so it would be nice to have it in FRX0_.
Kudos to the various devs here for their hard work. I hope to be able to use FRX07 in the near future or at least until the company I work for upgrades my phone (wish list - Samsung Fascinate).
Thanks again to the devs and other testers! I have learned a good deal from the posts.
I can't say for sure until it's released, but I'm pretty confident that:
a) The new RIL will most definitely be in FRX07.
b) The BT/audio routing stuff needs some work yet, and to prevent from further delaying FRX07, it probably will not make it.
Feel like this is the place to mention this.
Some posts I read people are testing Bluetooth.
Are they confuzzled users with a different phone or is there something I am missing?

You are missing something.
Check out the "new audio routing" thread, it includes instructions (not for the weak kneed) how to get BT up and running. I've done it on a clean FRX06 install and successfully done several file transfers.

If we could just get that ril packed in there I'd be happy, bluetooth isn't that important in the grand scheme of things. My wife is incredibly jealous of my inspire and I don't have the money for another. frx05 was her last attempt to use android and she just got tired of sods and poor battery life. For some reason her rhod300 never worked as well with these builds as mine. Hopefully gsm nand will be working soon so I can just wipe out windows mobile and not give her any choice

Testing tonight
Continued development of meizu m9 rom is in progress watch this space for updates I'm from desire HD forums but have a nexus one at hand, first thing we need to do is fix wifi.
half way there with Wifi
Then we get onto Microphone
good to see that dev number is not decreasing..
Nice man! Definitely going to keep an eye on this thread!
This is great news!!! it would have been sad to let this rom go wastes.. definitely looking fwd to updates. Thanks man!!!
i Have my own rom as well on the desire hd forums so that will be my main priority but i am working on this as well, so far half way to fixing wifi, it can find wireless networks, but wont connect.
Thanks for this, don't hesitate to put your progress here, maybe you'll find another dev who wants to help you in this project.
Good news, I'll keep an eye on this thread
Looking like its going to be a hard project
But I'm up for a challenge

Since you are already working on WiFi this won't matter too much, but I think getting the mic working should be first priority.

Hey I LOVE YOU. I love meizus rom soo much. It's sad that the original dev for the M9 rom stopped. BUT YOU'RE HERE! WOOT.
On a serious note, I really think Voice would be much more important than wifi. And if you've tried the previous alpha, you'd see that when you pull up the colors are changed ( negatived? ) I hope you can keep that. I think it's pretty neat. Although that's not supposed to happen. I tried the official Meizu M9 before.
I'm still trying been involved with another development thing recently, need to buy another nexus one as i gave mine to a friend to use while there phone is being fixed 4-5 weeks.
I had got wifi working partially but then it froze..
I know I will almost indefinitely be flamed for asking this, but oh well here goes.
When I first got my AT&T SGS2, I installed an international rom (villain) It ran perfectly fine other than the fact calls were not operating properly. I immediately jumped ship though scared for my phone's life. I reflashed stock and AT&T modem, but now that I think back on it- wouldn't having flashed the at&t modem remedied that problem? and if truly need be couldn't an at&t version kernel be flashed( i.e. Entropy's DD) Everything seemed to operate perfectly fine (install went well, booted properly, smooth homescreen, apps running great)
In theory, replacing kernel/modem (and making sure the ROM doesn't include a bootloader) should work - however this is untested.
I'm going to be trying it tonight with SensatioN, as I did like that ROM when "hellraised" on Infuse and someone requested it, and it's about time someone tries to do a "hellraise" on an I9100 ROM.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1328110 - Once I get permission to do so from the SensatioN ROM dev, I'll post it in dev as a proof-of-concept with details of what I did to port it.
Note that I don't have too much time to continue maintenance of a ROM - it's not where my skillset lies and between Real Life and kernel work, I'm pretty busy as is! But at least this will provide a starting point for those that want to go further.

you're correct bro. ports from i9100 roms are very possible. the one thing you will need to do is change some of the lib and bin files to rid the issues with the mic on in calls. i think ive successfully ported just about most of the i9100 dev section so far. lol. for personal use only. if you need some help just let me know.

Ha! Completely understandable. Thank you so much though, this proof-of-concept is wonderful news. It would be most beneficial to see some ports of well-supported GT-I9100 roms such as villain and DLEV rom etc.
Looks like there might be some known issues with my PoC port then... as I said, I haven't tested outgoing audio much (this is much harder for me to test than dialing voicemail...)

Which files are those? I tried to find the relevant CM7 commit (since they had mic issues in calls) but couldn't find it.
I know that turning Samsung Noise Reduction off (or on? It's freaking unclear whether "on" is the current state or destination state in the menus) seems to work around the problem on a per-call basis.

Hello XDA,
As you may or may not know, the official CM9 Project for the HTC Amaze has not died at all. It is being worked on by developers like +Max Krivonos.
I am making this post mainly in hope of educating myself in regards to the development process and things realted to it.
I've been following the project since the day they released the video of what Max got working on the Amaze already. Over the course of many months, cable detection, SD card, and "wifi" was fixed. There are only problems like GSM and the Camera left. Now I understand that Max has been busy with a lot of things considering his comments on his update posts seem to say that, but I am just curious as to how long does it really take to get things like that fixed?
My HTC Amaze is only my second Android device to my HTC Sensation which I only had for about 2 months. I have never really followed a project exclusively so I have no idea as to what the average timeframe is. However, my main concern is that Max "opened the repo", and a leak for the ICS update already came out. Shouldn't this help a lot? There are already many developers who are pushing out very clean ROMs based off of the leak, and there's only around 2 problems with more than 1 developer working on the issues. How long does it really take?
I didn't want to bother Max and other devs by asking them because I'm sure they have a lot of things on their hands anyways. Like I said before, this is not meant to be negative in any way. I simply want to learn about this, because I have been very eager waiting for CM9 like everyone else.

i may be wrong so don't hold me to it. but i believe they need the wifi drivers which htc has not released yet to fully remove sense and get everything working. like i said i'm not positive but i think i read that somewhere else.
I think someone said Max quit working on it, and has posted his build online somewhere. As the poster above me said, it is because of the lack of source code atm. Once the ICS leak becomes "official", HTC should release the code. Keep in mind we're not really supposed to have this leak at the moment.
Max posted over a week ago that he was stopping his work on it as "he is just too busy" and released the repo.

Gosh, I had no idea because I couldn't find anything like that on Google+
Who will be working on it? I guess another thing i'm trying to ask is if it's impossible to derive the source-code from the leak.
Well I definitely understand were your coming from but I think we just have to be patient like its hard trying to pull the drivers that are specifically made for the sense it takes time to try and rework those drivers for an aosp rom so I guess it would be wise to just be patient and wait to see what spot or xboarder is doing. I know xborarder is on android-dev.us and he's working with a couple of ppl on a Tom so just be patient man.

Yeah I remember reading his thread a while back. Kernels rely on official releases? Can't someone build their own kernel? Does it take a long time?

I realize we have the CM 10 thread going with decent progress. I'm just wondering if anyone has heard devs working on AOSP for our devices or rather, how close they are to getting working RIL and such.
If CM 10 is the only one that's actually close, then that's all I need to know. If there's other progress though, that's what I'd like to know about.

I understand how your asking your question, and not to be rude a lot of people don't appreciate asking on estimation dates of releases. You just gotta be patient, and it will come when it comes. As far as timewise you can always check the progress of the UNOFFICIAL release here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2056517. I check it daily because I cant wait for cm10 either. I miss having 4.2 on my gnex lol and im tired of stock roms

As with all the AOSPs the big issue is the RIL or Radio Interface Layer its very tricky and you really need someone who knows what they are doing. Now thats not to say that the DEVs working on it don't know what they are doing its just not easy. I'm pretty sure they will get it working eventually its just a matter of time. The other thing too is that life gets in the way we all have other things to do.
It looks like chad0989 is about to jump on and help Drewx2 out with some of the developing for cm10. Which i think will speed things up. Drewx2 (and im sure a few other devs) has done a fantastic job at getting it to where it is now. It is looking like they are getting very close to having it work with the RIL (i might be wrong though)... I bet we will have a very functional ROM by the end of this month (or sometime in March)..... but again i may be way off
