Anyone know of an app that will allow posting to facebook from the share menu without actually having to install an actual full-blown facebook client? A quick and dirty market search didn't turn anything up.

Anyone know how to get the new facebook update installed on the Flyer?

nobody?
Why can I not uninstall the facebook app from the tablet, nor find the facebook app on marketplace? This is one of those pre-installed things that are locked down? Thus will it only get updates via htc?

Everything that is pre-installed on the ROM is protected from being uninstalled. Only way around this is with root, which has not yet been achieved for this device.
As far as why the Facebook app is not in the Market, the permissions on the app include reading phone state and access to SMS/MMS. For the WiFi-only version of the Flyer, it appears that any apps that require permissions related to phone functions are not listed (since the tablet does not have those features).
Doesn't help you, but seeing the same issue on a 3G Flyer based in the UK.
Facebook v1.5.4 is installed on my Flyer (not sure if this was pre-installed, or done by linking my Flyer to the same Google account as my DHD). No opportunity to upgrade it however to 1.6 as it's not listed in the Market.
No way to install the Facebook standalone app
Check out this HTC's Flyer FAQ.
------
"What’s the difference between Facebook app and Facebook for HTC Sense?"
Facebook for HTC Sense is not a standalone app. It is integrated in People, Friend Stream, Gallery, and Calendar to give you up-to-date information about your Facebook contacts (their status updates, shared links, and photos) in these apps.
The Facebook app is a standalone app. Use this app to do most of the things that you would do when you’re using your computer’s web browser to access your Facebook account, such as adding a friend and sending Facebook messages.
The two do not share the same login credentials. Signing in to Facebook for HTC Sense does not sign you in to the Facebook app and vice versa. If you want to use the same Facebook account for both, you’ll have to sign in to both using the same login credentials.
Note: If you have more than one Facebook account, you may sign in to the Facebook app using your second account, since the Facebook app does not share the same login credentials as Facebook for HTC Sense.

Since HTC Flyer/Evo View's Facebook app is integrated in People, Friend Stream, Gallery, and Calendar, I don't think there's a way to install Facebook standalone app separately.

I'm having a small issue with Facebook on Android. However, I think it's an issue with Android itself, not the app. When I get an email from Facebook, and I click the link, my browser opens and takes to the Facebook page and asks me to log in. Why doesn't it open the link using my Facebook app? It doesn't even ask me which app to use, browser or Facebook (eg. if I have two different gallery apps, and I want to view a picture, it asks me which gallery app to use, and lets me set one as default at the same time). Is there any way to make Facebook links open the Facebook app, instead of launching the browser (or to have it ask me like it does with other apps)? The whole point of the Facebook app is so I don't need to use the browser to view Facebook.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm looking for a solution for this too, it's really annoying! but I've had no luck so far....
I've seen tutorials explaining how to use mobile facebook from a web browser.
I have also seen a hack where a correctly-named dummy app makes facebook think fb messenger is already installed. I'm not sure if this works with later versions of facebook.
What I've done so far is install an old version of facebook from July 2014, then used titaniumbackup to break the market link. So that it does not come up in my update or update all lists in play store.
The problem with what I'm doing now is that the facebook app periodically restores the market link so that I am not able to forget about my facebook workaround and update my other apps normally.
I wonder if there is a better hack for a rooted android galaxy s2 that keeps facebook messages in the app but does not require any further attention.
There were also third party apps that could show the facebook newsfeed and send messages but I no longer see them in the play store. Is there an app that I could sideload that is recommended to replace the facebook app?
Any help is greatly appreciated on this.
I think the easiest is just using an old version. Facebook 1.9.12 never asks for the update. Message away to your heart's content. It's posted on another xda thread
Hi, I don't get to see the Gmail app in desktop Mode? Is that right? Also, I use my personal phone for work and have G-suite and Google apps duplicated as personal and work (seperate) I can't see any of these either? Is there any way of getting any of this to the Desktop? Thanks.
I have same problem and I find a way to open it....
First open destkop mode and search gmail in chrome, google said gmail already installed. Then click the link in google and Gmail app open in desktop mode..........
Hi, yes thanks. Another way is to open the notifications and if you click on a Gmail notification it opens directly as well. You can then pin Gmail to the Task Bar and it is always available then. Same with the other Google apps that don't appear for some reason (Calendar, etc...). One caveat, if you are using G Suite and have a work Gmail, then no mater what the pinned Gmail icon will only open your personal email. You can open the work ones form notifications though.
Hi guys, there is a hard and kinda wierd one, but hopefully someone will be able to figure this out.
I'm using Huawei Y6 2017. Now I'm not too sure is this specific to this phone or it's more a general android app querry. If so, can admins please move this to correct place.
You know how some games or apps uses facebook account to sign in if you want to link it? Now If I have the example game installed, when I click to facebook sign in, a popup window shows allowing me to enter facebook mail and password. Which is fine. I would really like to keep it like this, but if I install a real facebook app, and use the same game, instead of popup window, game opens real facebook app. Now question is, is there a way how I can force a game to still use a popup log in, rather than facebook app without me having to delete real facebook app. Else, to force a game to use Facebook Lite app for signing in rather than main facebook app. Am I making any sense?
To explain why I need this, is becasue I have multiple facebook accounts. And on my main account I have disabled gaming platform fully. For games, I have another account and I have loged that one on Facebook Lite app, because my model doesn't support multiple facebook apps. Facebook app itself does supports multiple accounts, but that is kinda wierd as If i switch the facebook account in game, it switches in app as well, and when I return my main acc in app, game switches as well. I don't want to be switcing accounts all the time, as it's not convenient. Other reason is if i have single account registered only in my main facebook app, it doesn't offer me an option to login with another account or logout tempoary of current without saving that account in the app. It always forces game to use that single account which is loged in on facebook app.
Thank you all brainers out there who don't mind speding time to be looking into this.
Cheers to all!
