Does anyone know if gaining root access can be done after bootloader is unlocked. I don't have a working internet connection to follow through with regawmod. All help would be greatly appreciated. I have tried one click root also, but that doesn't seem to install supersu or su binary... Also for the record I had downloaded the zip file for twrp, but it said older device or something like that. Please help!

If you are unlocked and have recovery then why not just install a custom rom?
You could flash recovery thru goomanger and then flash the Su zip or a rooted Rom.
I'm not positive, bit that should work
Edit.....forgot goomanager needs root privileges

I use the stock rom with root access. I was able to achieve SU access with this guide.
http://htcevohacks.com/htc-evo-4g-l...tc-evo-4g-lte-unlock-bootloadertwrp-recovery/
You already have the bottloader unlocked you just downloads the files at the beginnning and proceed to step 22, after you flash the SU package, you can update SU in the play store and download goo mananger to bring to bring you to the last TWRP
Thanks guys, didn't even think about flashing a rooted rom lol...For some reason I thought I would get error flashing a rom without root access.

If you are using Amon Ra recovery all you need to do is boot to recovery and use the superuser installation in the developers menu.
that didnt work. i install it... reboot and go to super user and try to update the bu or whatever and it says root fails.
I rooted the same way I did in GB.

ill try it again by re installed the leak completely. do you kno how to TEMP install a custom recovery so i can keep stock and recieve ota updates?
Try flashing the full SU located here
http://androidsu.com/superuser/
Then from the Play store, install Busybox installer and get the latest.
Regarding recovery, flash AmonRA 3.15 in fastboot with unlocked bootloader. "fastboot flash recovery **filename**.img" Your HBOOT will show **TAMPERED** but that is normal.
You can flash this in recovery

No need to rename, put onto root of SD card and then use the 'flash zip' options within AmonRA...or whatever custom recovery you have.
Disregard, I didn't see the last post on here.
Did not work. Any other ideas?
I want to root my phone, but I have Software Version 2.13.651.1 710RD. I'm not sure if I can root with this version. I tried running the 1.13.651.1 RUU, but I just get:
"ERROR [155]: UNKNOWN ERROR
The ROM Update Utility cannot update your Android phone.
Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again."
Am I doing something wrong? I downgraded using this method on my old phone.
EDIT: Nevermind, I think I can use Regaw's rooter.
EDIT 2: Nope, that didn't work. I went with this: http://htcevohacks.com/htc-evo-4g-l...tc-evo-4g-lte-unlock-bootloadertwrp-recovery/
You can gain root access on all versions via HTC dev unlock. Once unlocked flash recovery image and then su zip or the rooted ROM of your choice

I just found the manual way to do it. I used this site: http://htcevohacks.com/htc-evo-4g-lte-root/how-to-root-htc-evo-4g-lte-unlock-bootloadertwrp-recovery. Yeah, I used HTCDev and went through that guide.
My LTE came S-Off. How would I root it with S-Off? All pre-designed methods I see try to turn S-Off when it is already off on my LTE. Can I just install a SU program and I am good to go?

You need to install a custom recovery, and then flash a ROM with superuser access. Then you will be rooted. If you simply want a stock rooted ROM, you can download the app SuperSU from the Play Store and install it, and you will have root access.
Look in the link below for info regarding TWRP recovery:

SuperSU won't launch. It gives an error "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!"
I was hoping to get SU access on my current stock ROM without installing another ROM. With it being "stock s-off" throws a wrench into that plan.
Ninja Edit: Using the app "Root Checker Basic" says the device does not have proper root access. So S-OFF means jack when it comes to the ROM I assume?

There is a recovery flashable SuperSU binary zip here on XDA. I'll see if I can dig it up.
As far as S-off & root, they aren't the same and aren't dependent upon one another. For more info hit the link in my sig.
Edit: Take a look here at the link below.

motochopper would work. I don't have time to write it up, but you could use revone to unlock/s-off then use motochopper to root. Once you have root you could use Rom Manager or Goo to install a recovery.

Hello,
I am fairly sure you need root to use revone to S-off you device.
If you are able to get you bootloader unlocked(this you need a computer, maybe a library or school). You can use an app(link below) to flash a custom recovery to your phone then flash a root tool zip(link below) and give yourself root. You just have to get your bootloader unlocked.

That's a negative ghostrider. You can revone a virgin phone. It's my root process so I don't have to HTCDev unlock.
1. revone
2. install recovery
3. profit

Thanks for correcting me. I did it all on my phone so I need root to move the file, change permissions, and for terminal emulator. Have to double check my thoughts next time.

Hello,
I'm not too sure what kind of file it is, but it isn't an app. I would probably say it is some type of bin file(could be totally wrong). I think your best bet to get root is google revone then read about it.
If you don't own a computer your find a public computer you can get adb and fastboot working on and use revone to unlock your phone. Then use fastboot to install a new recovery.
After all that you can get root, but the bottom line is you need a computer with adb and fastboot.
Hope that helps.

You say you're in college!?! There should be computers on campus, at the library, or a friend even. Download the files you need onto your phone, take a data cable with you and bam. Should not take more that 10 min.
I just got another DNA and decided this time to mod it. I hated it stock and bloated. So anyway I did the rumrunner s-off method to unlock and root and everything is going good and I installed the NuSenseSIX Htc m8 port and it's beautiful. Props. But there's an app called trickster mod that I tried to go into and says I don't have root. So I go into superSU and it says I'm missing the SU binaries and that I need to manually 're root it. But Idk if I should do it the same way cause I used the s-off thing or if I should use the htc universal toolkit or something. Any advice would be very helpful
