It's Safe dude you can flash any rom on your galaxy, you just need to be sure that you own an GT - i9300
An advice, check what modem ver have your phone, some modems work properly in some areas and others simply don't

The modem version is found on Configuración -- Acerca de -- Versión de Banda Base .. That is the modem..
I'm from Venezuela and I have my S3 on UK firmware without problem. But if you have problem with the signal strength you can find the modem here at XDA and flashing again.

It's been almost a month since left the ROM for Poland, and so far, just over 35 ROMs were released. Why so long? I'm in Brazil, here not even launched the Galaxy Note II already out and upgrade to Jelly Bean. Meanwhile, no sign of Jelly Bean for the Galaxy S3 in Brazil.
I'm sorry if I posted in the wrong place for my question.
Sorry for my English.
The Brazilian JB for S III might not be released until late January or Febrary.
Yet, when it is released, it will not be the latest version of JB, but one that is older than what other countries will have by then.
For your information, the Brazilian CSCs are: ZTA (Claro), ZTV (Vivo), ZTO (open / unbranded), ZTM (Tim) and ZVV (Oi).
You don't need, however, to wait for Samsung Brasil to do us a favor: just flash the UK unbranded (CSC -> BTU) ROM, using Odin3 and don't worry about it again.
All stock ICS and JB contains all languages (including Pt-BR) and the ROM I mentioned works flawlessly in Brazil. I am using it right now.

I know i could install any ROM ever released. But i do not want to put another ROM on my Galaxy S3. I want to keep it as original as possible. I had a Galaxy S2 before S3, and installed an uninstalled all ROMs as possible, but in my Galaxy S3 want to keep it original. I know it will not install official ROMs increment the counter. What i do no understand is why they are taking so long.
But i appreciate your explanation.
Thank you
Does your carrier have any kind of restriction for rooting and flashing your cellphone? If not, it's pretty much irrelevant what your binary counter says.
You can always reset the binary counter to 0 and set system to official using Triangle away if you're worried about warranty.

Why? What is the point of that?
You'll just have a device that is always outdated and with uncorrected bugs.

Hello, sorry for the (a bit) irrelevant question but does flashing through Odin the UK unbranded one (while I have another country's official ROM unmodified), increase my counter or ruin my warranty?

No. Install original ROM does not increment the counter.

I know, I just want to leave it as original as possible. On my Galaxy S2 I always installed by Odin ROMs without any problem and reset the counter with Triangle Away. But I really want to use the Jelly Bean, I'll install the ROM UK.
thank you

No, it doesn't. If you need to RMA the phone, just flash the ROM for your carrier/country and it's as original as it gets and THERE IS NO WAY they can find out you ever had a different ROM in there.
Do you do any changes to the rom? LIke CSC or modem?
Hey! Is it possible to update to one of the 4.1.1 PDAs from sammobile . com (say Germany) even if my device is not from there? If it is do I have to root the device or is Odin enough? My current build is BUBLH2.
For downloads from sammobile just Odin is good. But what country variant does your tab have? It is not advisable to flash a different version....
And this is wrong forum.... You may not get good suggestions here. Above given are general advise.

Hey thx for the response. My tablet is from Romania Vodafone. So I shouldn't flash a german version of JB?
No I think you might brick your device.... Better confirm with a developer of your device...
My advice would be, if you're a looking for a stock update wait for one from your carrier. If you re a people user, get a good customers m rom.
I suppose xda has got a separate Dev portal for you device...

i test with a SFR or FREE and i can call but i want to know what is the real model of this fone
When i try to connect my S3 on Kies , i can't upgrade it :

version actuelle du micrologiciel: PDA:LJ1 / Phone: LID / CSC: LJ1 (FTM).
So, when i do *#1234# on the fone i see that:
AP :I9300XXDLJ1
CP: I9300XXDLID
CSC: I9300OJVDLJ1
What can i do? somebody can explain me what's happen?
Thanks a lot.

I derivate from the error message that your phone has been blocked from being updated through Kies.
Most probably your carrier only wants pre-approved OTA updates to be available to your device.
It's quite simple to bypass that restriction; just flash the ROM from samfirmware.com and you have a untouched official ROM, not some carrier-broken stuff.
Should you feel like it, you can of course also flash aftermarked custom firmwares with root such as Wanamlite or Omega.

but i dont understand one thing. i buy the fone "nude".
i don't buy the fone with carrier / operator . But why when i watch the information from my fone , they write FTM (Orange France)
very strange....
Try factory resetting the phone. I had that problem with kies too and solve by factory reset. Everything will be erased though.

Hi all,
I just got my brand new I-9305 Galaxy SIII phone from SFR (a French operator) and I want to replace the operator installed ROM with the basic, standard Samsung ROM. I tried using Kies to do so (the official Samsung PC app) but it only proposes to install my operator's ROM.
So before jumping in and doing this manually I wanted to know what I should be careful about? I know there are different makes for the SIII and I was wondering how to know which make mine is. I also read about a flash counter, what is it and should I worry about it? Where can I get the official standard vanilla out of the box ROM for my phone and how can I install it? I don't want to root or sim unlock (but I don't want to completely block those options either).
This is not my first phone flashing (but I'm not an expert either) although I'm a total Smasung n00b.
Thanks!

If you have a carrier simlock and you want to unlock you might look here http://pakdroid.com/2012/12/05/how-to-factory-unlock-samsung-galaxy-s3galaxy-note-2-for-free/. For flashing roms use Odin and get the rom`s from here www.sammobile.com/firmware.

Thanks for the info. I just have one more question: to get the frimware on the sammobile site, I have to provide the name of my carrier, why is it needed? Isn't the stock ROM supposed to be carrier nidependent?
And another question (guess I had two questions ) On the XDA Odin page, there's a disclaimer about "may increase your ODIN flash count." what is that all about?
Thanks again for your help.

Have to inform the country/carrier to get the ROM on sam's site. How can I get the stock ROM? Should I choose "Unknown - DNF" as a country/carrier?
Also the PDA versions do not exactly match. I'm not talking about the XX part (I assume the Xs are fillers) but the SFR ROM on the site ends with ALK5, the "Unknown - DNF" ROM ends with ALK3 whereas my phone is ALK2.

Are you sure about that?
Doesn`t matter. Just pick one for your region.
PDA is just version number. EMA2 is out for France.
May break Kies update until you return the phone to SFR`s rom.

Some are stock some are stock with operator branding you just want the stock ones without carrier branding you would know the French branding better than me but I would guess France stock roms being XEF or VGF or you could just go for Open Europe OXA whichever you choose just download and flash via Odin then boot into recovery on your phone and wipe the Cache and Dalvik Cache re boot and set your phone up.

That's just it: the only 3 ROMs for France seem to be operator branded and, looking in the country list, I don't see anything remotely resembling "Open Europe" all the items in the "Country" list have a country and a carrier except for the last entry "Unknown - DNF" is that the basic stock non branded one?
If it's any help, my model is GT-I9305 (I found the Open Europe ROM but it's for model GT-I9300, so I guess I'm out of luck on this one?)

Hi everyone, I got a international s3 or European I just know it's not from my carrier directly. My question is will I be getting software updates according to my carrier/country or will I be receiving the updates the time it comes out in Europe? I'm asking because I updated to 4.2.1 about 2 months earlier than my friend did and he bought it straight from Vodafone NZ
Official 4.2.1?
I think it depends on your Carrier
You will be getting updates when they come out in Europe. Updates are actually pushed through according to your phone CSC as you have an international unbranded phone unlike your friend's Vodafone branded unit.

oh darn it lol i reflashed stock with the Vodafone NZ 4.2.1 rom not the International UK rom.. can someone point out the steps to reflash stock rom if my s3 is already on stock rom? cheers
Oh by the way, is there any difference to the software updates between countries apart from them being released at different times? I was on International UK rom but I flashed NZ stock rom and now its seems im having quite a bit of battery problems, just wondering so I know whther to reflash international stock or leave it with NZ
so is it 4.2.1 or 4.1.2?

I found heaps of guides but they only guide on how to go back stock from a custom rom. Im already on stock rom though and i want to revert back to international stock rom but NZ stock.
Soz im a noob, still new to this
it is no different
So which is true? Does software updates follow the carrier the phone is using (eg. Vodafone) or the region (eg UK/EU)??
