Hello,
Last week my Galaxy SIII accidentally fell in the toilet
Since then he recovers pretty much all of his fonctions, the only problem I have is when it comes to recharge it.
When I plug the charger in when the cellphone is turn on, nothing happen. The cellphone doesn't seems to recognize that the charger is plug in. Then if I restart it and let the charger plug in at the same time, when it restarted the charger seems to be recognize and I'm able to recharge it.
Do you think I need to change the usb port?or maybe it's just a matter of software?
Do you think that a factory reset will do the trick?
I'm open to any suggestion, I only have this cellphone for a month and a half and can not afford another one right now, especially if I have to pay full price.
Thanks in advance for your help.
First factory reset second flash a stock rom third its hardware .

Unless your device somehow hit thw toilet bowel a dew hundred times+ it's hardware related especially seeing as it feel in water & water is conductive
If you're really up for a gruesome challenge then you can order a new part and FIX IT YOURSELF: http://rounded.com/samsung-i9300-ga...tor-charging-connector-spare-part-microc.html
I RECOMMEND getting it replaced somehow though

Thank you for your answers.
I will probably give a shot to the factory reset, but I'm just concerned of what it's going to do to my phone?does it erase everything?I will have to reinstalle all the apps?reenter my contacts?
After watching the video about reparing the cellphone by yourself, I think I'm going to let that to someone who know what he is doing because it seems very tricky.
It erases EVERYTHING however if you sync your samsung & google account it should restore all your apps but not your pictures etc, I advise just making a backup with Samsung Kies (don't backup misc. If you were rooted but I wouldn't anyway)

Hello,
I jumped in a pool when may daughter fell in. My phone was in my pocket.
Now the phone is not powering on. I did let it dry. Put it in rice and all that. I have lot of photos of my daughter on the phone and I was wondering if there's anyway of physically accessing the internal memory to get the photos.
Is there anyway I can retrieve the photos?

If you can somehow get your phone to power on i can certainly help you out. Broken screen...no problem...damaged usb port...well consider it impossible.

I would expect these things to survive a brief pool-dunking. I suggest you let it sit in the sun for a while with cover off and all cards out. If it is still dead, I suggest sending it to the unbrickable mod guy. If he can't bring it back, probably no one can.
Thanks. I can't get it to power on at all. Who is the unbrickable mod guy?
Google unbrickable mod by Adam Outler...there is a thread in vibrant development section also

Naaa unbrickable mods not gonna save a burnt mb
Theres no reason for it to.
You can try a diff battery, boot while holding recovery combo, then navigate the menus blindly to usb storage and plug your phone into comp.. maybe youll get lucky and its just dead screen
sent from the xda app on my android smartphone.
Oh but before you waste your time chasing ghosts, i just realized that if it is just a dead screen, you could just 'turn it on' and plug it in and the comp should say something about found hardware.. just make sure you have it completely off, ie take batt out for a couple secs, then put in and hold power button for a reasonable ampunt of time.
Good luck
Oh and one more thing, as a last resort, you can try booting uup the phone wwith the least amount of part plugged in.. the water may have damaged aa part which may now be shorting it and inhibiting boot. I would say that if possible, boot it just mb and power button and usb port (idk if its a separate module)... maybe if youre lucky, you can do what i said with the recovery-> mount usb storage like that
Again good lluck

The unbrickable mod guy clearly knows vibrant hardware. If he can't get your data from the phone, then it probably can't be done. If you sent him two phones, he could probably move the flash memory chip to the live phone. Maybe Samsung could also do something. Probably cost more.
Thank you all for your suggestions. I have tried connecting it to the computer etc but no luck. I'll try some other suggestions in this thread.
As always this community is very helpful.
Good luck. Let us know how it works out.
Hello All...I just wanted to let you know that I managed to retrieve data from my phone. After staring at my phone in dismay for 2 weeks I gave up. Until today when I happened to put another battery in my phone. To my surprise the screen showed some lines but the phone was still unusable. I then downloaded a lifesaver of a software called Android Commander and could access and copy the files from the phone.
I hope this information helps someone.

If you can use your iPhone again, you can try to sync the data to iTunes after connecting to pc. But if you can not use it, you just can recover the photos from your iTunes backup. The best is that you did backup b4.

FIRST thing you need to do is turn off your phone, dry it out and put into a bag of rice for 24 hours.
then you can try to use a data recovery tool to get back the lost photos.
Read the post before you. Take his advice. Problem was solved. But yes. Leave it in rice and it coaxes the Chinese people to come and fix it for you.

Morning all, lastnight whilst trying to update my boys i5500 from stock 2.2 to CM7 I inadvertently clicked on the wrong handset in clockwork mod's flash recovery list. (Can't remember exactly what phone it was but it WASN'T a Samsung) Anyway, I've tried switching the phone back on this morning and she's not responding. Nothing from the power button... Volume down + menu + power... battery pull... anyone have any ideas what else I can try?

Well you can try anything you want but there is realy small possibility that you fix it by yourself.
You can fix it with jtag but i don't think you have one because then you wouldn't ask this question.
Samsung service can repair it but maybe they charge repair (but i think they won't if it's still in waranty).
It's not important is cwm you flashed samsung or not because flashing any cwm that is not made for your phone will cause brick.

Yeah, I've been doing alot of reading today about this.
Looked into a "jig" but it's not even getting to the boot screen so I'm lead to believe this won't work.
Tried loading up through odin again but the program doesn't detect the phones even connected.
When the chargers plugged in, it doesn't even light up.
Reckon i'll give Samsung a go... what's the worst that could happen?
The exact same thing happened to me about 6 months ago, but I was just recently trying to fix it. The worst part is that you can't even access it from your computer and therefore you can't do anything. Let me know if you get it repaired, and how much it cost.

Morning Sean,
If I'm being honest, I never sent it. My friend dropped his i5500 and shattered the lcd so he bought mine for £20 ($35). Thats only $15 less than i paid for it, so i took the hit.
Reading the samsung repair document though they do say that if you can produce a valid proof of purchase and they cant detect any liquid or physical damage they will fix any mobile upto 24mths after purchase.
If you still have the receipt, it may be worth it.
Hope you get it fixed.
Hi guys!
So my previous S3 had been Bricked and I had no other solution other than to make a replacement after many tries.
Long Story cut short: I have a Pebble Blue 16GB version of the Galaxy SIII GT-i9300 and the Device ID, PDA, Modem etc are attached.
My Question is:
It isn't rooted this time. As my prev device fried after Rooting. What are the things I should do in order to make a backup. Like the PIT file! What information do i need to know so that i can recover it from any future incidents?
thank you!
From what I've heard and read, you can't do any backup or something that would revive it if it ever happens. It's a hardware failure. Best thing maybe to do is don't charge overnight. From what I've read, most of those sudden deaths have at least done overnight charging during the lifespan of their s3.
Rooting has nothing to do with it. Why not enjoy your phone because root or stock you will still be affected.

Rooting (when done right) should have very little to do with a device getting hard-bricked.
The top-two reasons for a true hard-brick are (major) flash malfunction and (IMHO) recharging problems.
The only way you can (somehow) lower your risks for major flash malfunction is to write as little as possible to the internal flash (and for instance place as much stuff as possible on an external microSD card) - but other than that it is just a matter of pure luck.
The simplest way how you can lower your recharging risks is to always use a known-good USB cable and recharge from a good notebook - it will be twice slower but it should be safer and will certainly limit the 'aging' of your battery.
The main part where your S3 has system-unique stuff is probably in the EFS partition (and possibly in the modem partition if it is not a standard model but instead something specific to some carrier - but that is now very rare). Once you have those saved everything else can in theory be recovered by somebody with a lot of skills (and time) from the net.
And of course any important info that you added inside could be unique
As far as I know these incidents are happening at random. Even stock phones have died so it definetly is not cause of rooting. It maybe cause of overnight charging.
More over I have never charged my phone directly so far. I plug it to my laptop using USB cable. That is a better option I guess. I advice you to do the same , the phone does get charged slowly but its safer I guess since the voltage is low.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
The voltage is exactly the same on Ac or Usb, namely 5.0volt
The current (Ampere) however varies significantly between Usb2 (0.5Amp) and Ac (1Amp). Notebooks such as the Acer M5 have an always-powered usb port which is Usb3, and thus 0.9Amp

My hp died while not charging.... It was at 55% when it reboot itself and end up at the samsung logo with endless boot looping.
Going to recovery was impossible, I can only go to download mode.. My hp is rooted and i sent to samsung service centre and discover the motherboard was dead. They replaced it without question asked.

Hi folks,
Long time lurker but a rare poster, I hope this isn't held against me haha!
I dropped my Galaxy S3 at New Year and it has completely shattered the screen. Upon finding out that it's £150 to have it replaced, I'm going to recycle the phone and get another phone, and cut my losses that way. £150 is a lot of money for me at the moment.
Anyway, the phone still powers up but the screen stays blank. When I plug it in to my computer via USB, I am told that the phone is locked - this is because I have a pattern screen unlock and, obviously, can't use the screen! Therefore, I can't get the data off my phone since I can't put in my unlock pattern.
Is there anyway around this? I have pictures and a video of my daughter after we spent our first Christmas together which mean a lot to me, and I'd really prefer not to lose them. It also means that I can be a bit at peace when I send the phone away for recycling, that most personal details will have been removed.
Sorry to bother you all and I really hope someone can help me out. I will be eternally grateful!
Cheers,
R

No I haven't, which I'm sort of regretting now! That 16gb storage space was too tempting to be lazy with.
I have noticed that there are apps on the Play store which I can download to unlock my device via WiFi, but the app has to be opened for the first time which obviously I can't do. I can download and install apps on my phone through my PC though when logging in to my Google Account. Would this open any doors for me?
Or is there even any way to remotely start apps? If I could get Kies Air working this would be perfect.
If USB debugging was enabled, the adb pull command might work
On Samsung Dive you can onlock your screen.
Also you can wipe youre phone from there.

Hey Guys/Gals!
I (stupidly) jumped into rooting too quickly. It's a great option for really getting the true potential out of your android IMO, but I (having no knowledge of the possible issues of rooting) really messed me up here.
I have a Samsung Mega SGH - I527 and I have no clue what version of android it was originally running.
Basically, one day I was on base with my cell phone in my pocket, and this was about a week after i rooted with a program I believe was called "kingo". I went to pull it out of my pocket, and the screen was not responding to touch. I wasn't doing anything unusual and there aren't any signs of damage of any physical kind. I freaked out on the spot, and realized it must have been the root.
I rebooted the phone, and touch came back. I rejoiced, then freaked out as about 15 - 30 seconds later, the touch went bad again.
It then stayed not working until I rebooted again, and again, and again, until I managed to get to the Factory Reset settings in that little tiny window of time.(a small note while on this subject: not every reboot got me that little bit of time to use the touch, and the amount of time i had to use the touch screen was never consistent from what i could tell.)
From here on out, just troubleshooting steps already tried:
- factory reset on phone in phones UI (did not fix)
- factory reset on phone with bootloader menu (did not fix)
- using Odin 3.07 to put supposed stock firmwareback on the device (did not fix)
- took apart phone to make sure digitizer/lcd cable was seated properly on the motherboard (did not fix)
Any Ideas? just trying to do something that makes this thing NOT a $500 shiny paperweight :'(
feel free to email me @ [email protected] if you have any further questions or info that could help out here!
PS: sorry if this is a repost, I didn't find anything related to this specific topic in forum
I would say your problem is with the hardware and not software. Now what the problem is and how to fix it, I haven't a clue. I would suggest that you contact Samsung.

The only thing is, the phone is /really/ new.. i never abused it, and I'm thinking that its a software issue. I know its possible i broke/failed the hardware, but i really think its the case that the root i did messed it up. Do you know if there are any other more power ful ways to restore the chipset back to originality than using odin to load it back?
