How does CM9 get ported to phones that dont have a CM9 BASE to begin with? Such as the Samsung Galaxy W. How do they do that.? Because to my knowledge, you must port a ROM with the same firmware as your Base. Or am I wrong. If so. How.?

im not a dev yet but according to me it's built from cm 9 source and fetching files with phones from similar specs..

you need a working devcie_cconfig for your device and then compile....then try booting the rom fails diagnoize take a look at logcat try understanding the problem and find a possible fix...

Unfortunately I didn't find my device, ZTE v889d. I have downloaded the Cyanogenmod source, the wiki tells

You have to find a device tree for your device...or make one
I can't help with making one as I've never made a device tree...
But for finding one just Google ZTE v889d github...if someone has made one it should pop up...if you can't find any...then your out of luck and will have to make your own..

I'm no pro either, but perhaps you could find a device that is close to your model that is cm supported and then look into its vendor tree on github. Doing this will allow you to see what you need to pull from your firmware to start a tree. Or if the devices are close enough you might even be able to barrow some of the supported devices pre existing tree.

That's just the huawei g300 cm9 rom+libs and bins from official sense rom with stock kernel. Not source based.

As i said i work on cm9, but not easy with this phone. I tried msm7x27 and msm7x27a configs but they gives error in some things...

But if you download that desire v cm rom, decompile its kernel, get its ramdisk, rename the init.**.rc to protou and then repack with our device zImage, you get an almost booting cm9 kernel. I deleted my repos by mistake otherwise i would compile a cm9 build and flash this kernel to check boot.
@atis, do me a favour, compile with either 7227 or 7227a, just make a flashable zip, and try it with this kernel attached below,,,, just once,

has anyone looked at lge p700??? im attempting a device tree structure from it. Its my final and will be most elaborate attempt to boot cm9. Then i'll officially give up.
@ hell_lock & atis112, can u upload your in progress work(device tree) on git?? just so i can get some ideas.

Well yes I was successful in making the kernel boot. It still has stock features so I didn't release it yet. Btw my sources are there on github.
I will release my kernel on 22nd most probably . Right now I am having my exams

Maybe it's having to do with nexus 5 modules, where some are not the same as G2, and maybe that is causing problems?
Don't we need specific binaries and blobs for our device?

I don't know... I tried to build cm14 and i got it, resolving a lot of building issues, but it work only wifi...
Anyway, i looked in the README MIUI patchrom's page, and i'm blocked at the command:

i don't know what i must do... i tried to replace honor with d802 (name of my device folder) but terminal give me this error:

the readme says:

according to the error message your cp command has no destination where to copy this file and the dot seems to be the destination in this case

Very likely the solution, cause he didn't specify a location to copy to. Also is the directory you're working from named d802?

I can say that you were wrong base rom. Because you're so complicated life, you have to fill the power command after boot animation. You were wrong some trivial step, you have to thunder back.
P.S It is an exceptional work, the finished project looks.

Why wrong base ROM? Which ROM must i use? I would like to use aosp pure or cm13... Anyway, after resolved some problems, i got another logcat...

First,You need to know your device_codename.
In my case,"kanas" .Just google it like "android_kernel_samsung_kanas"
and if you see it uploaded by someone on github ,just clone it by

Then make sure it is actually released!
Most of the manufacturers here in the U.S. don't like to give up sources very easily Samsung is known for this & can make building for them very scattered.....
However I can't speak for Micromax as I've never owned anything they're known for, but if your device is newer than 3 to 9 months old it could still be sourceless, in that case you'll have to email Micromax....
