you cannot port win8 to sony tablet s since win8 needs hardware that is not in the sony tabet s

Impossible.

Would any earlier version of windows work, eg xp or vista?

WHY.
I guess you could emulate, via bochs.

Wait, what about Windows RT?

Na, it would be slow since it is QEMU but faster then Windows XP booting up.

Windows 8 RT is only available through pre-installed devices

There's an apps that would allowed u to "stream" your windows. Something like remote desktop over your local wifi. It would work even if ur pc doesn't have touch screen

But you would require windows 8
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda app-developers app

We have to wait and see if microsoft release windows 8 rt publicly
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda app-developers app

Why someone would want to put an OS that is inferior to Android on their tablet is baffling.

Install ubuntu then.

Windows 8 rt needs at least 1.5 gb of ram

Would it be possible to get chrome OS to work on or touchpad just like on the nexus 7?, I think it would be super cool if it were possible.

Very true. I'll want to try this when I get myself a nexus 7. Apparently it has been ported to that device.

Yes. except it's minimalistic and super quick.
All it really is, is the chrome browser. But it's the only Linux distro that can play Netflix, except for Android that is.

Maybe we can try and get a port once they updated the Ubuntu for touchpad with new kernel and stuff

Possible, but I don't see the point since Android already has Chrome and many more apps than ChromeOS which is made for webapps only.

Xperia is native Android, Ubuntu would be a mod, not native to Xperia.

Play Store Stuck Downloading on BOTH my Devices (HELP!!)

Ok, so lately I've been having trouble downloading large apps on both my S3 and my Nexus 7. I really want Grand Theft Auto SA on my tablet and it gets stuck at the same percentage every time on both devices. I've cleared cache and done everything and nothing works. It does NOT happen over AT&T's network. Is there something screwed up with my wifi network? Is there a setting I can change? I know for a fact it's not device specific because it happens on my S3 and both Nexus 7's I've tried it on. Please help, I want to download some games. I have a very fast 30 m/bit xfinity unlimited plan. Thanks for any help. - Loren :what:
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Hello Loren... it happened even to me and I uninstalled Play Store ( that you can do only with a rooted device and a propper application) then I re- installed it after it started to work normaly.... if this does not work for you you can use a computer to download apps from Google Play to your phone..... you have to connect the device to your pc with a usb cable and activate Wi Fi and use the Play Store in your computer and after you searched the app you just click on install, select the device and it will install the app from the computer directly on your phone
Sent from my GT-S5310 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I did what you said and attempted to install it via USB from my PC but it still downloads it from my tablet, getting stuck at 271 mb every time no matter what app it is.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
There must be a problem with your device's software and/or internal memory
Sent from my GT-S5310 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
But why does it happen on three different devices? All getting stuck at 217 mb. Has to be a WiFi problem right?
