Why is it that my earpiece volume is incredibly low? I can barely hear the one I'm talking to on phone and it's has been like this since I first installed MiniCM beta2.
You should rather move this issue to general or Q & A

Have you checked volume levels in settings? I don't have that problem..
So how do i increase the volume of this phone? I notice it is extremely quiet in relation to the Nexus and any iPhone. I know this has a good speaker in it so there has to be some kernel or app boost.
I'm on elkay's latest kernel so maybe he has something in there enabled to boost volume?
Shamrock I had the same problem with my first one. The external speaker volume was real low. I compared it to a rezound, gnex, and an old DX it was the quietest. So I took it to verizon and compared it to the demo unit. It was a big difference. They replaced it no problem. I would take it back!

I think you may have a defective unit.. my DNA's speakers (both the earpiece and the external speaker) are extremely loud.
I tried searching but didn't find anything about this yet, but is there a mod to increase speaker volume output? I feel like even when it is maxed out on the phone that it could be louder. I don't think if we increased it the quality would go down that much at all.

Hopefully Faux will come out with a fix within his kernel sometime soon. He was already able to increase volume via headphones although that has been pretty loud already anyway.
Why is the speaker sound so low in sony Xperia Z ultra?

OMG dude, just update already and see if that fixes it. You do understand that it's impossible for us to tell what's wrong with it unless we stand right next to you.
It will be low due to water proof purpose.
Yes, there's a membrane on the speaker so water doesn't get in. That alone decreases the volume a bit. Top it of with a little water too, and it'll get even quieter. It's just the way it is.

I can confirm, it's very low but we can tweak it when rooted by direct editing the resource files.

Whats the actual speaker sound quality like, not the volume but the quality?
I can only give you a reference in HTC Sensation, which I just recently retired after getting the Z ultra.
For sound quality and volume, both are a big improvement for me. So depending n how you look at it - How good ZU is, or how bad Sensation was...

Hi baileyjr,
the sound quality is good, not so good as the HTC One but the problem is the low audio volume, ihmo.

i dont have an issue with the volume, but i do hear a slight buzzing noise in the background. a little annoying
After coming from the Samsung Note 2, I think it's the worst audio I've heard on a smart phone. Especially for a phone that is advertised heavily as an entertainment device.. But I can live with it. I do wish it was louder tho.

Hi, look at the Settings - Audio - Audio Effects menu, you can tweaks some settings as well as enable the ClearAudio+ technology.

this is very interesting. I turned the volume all the way down during a call and I could still hear a beeping noise.
even when there is dead air and no one is speaking from the other end, i hear a beeping noise.
its almost like the phone is emitting some noise during a call.
hey guys, my xperia u's external speaker has became very low, and even the ringtone is not audible from like 5-6 feets away. i tried flashing stock ROM and the speaker volume improved a bit, (i know AOSP and CM ROMs have low volume) but its still not that ok. My guess is that its a hardware related issue, and in that case i should get the speaker replaced, so my question is, how much will it cost? and if i get it replaced with a duplicate speaker, will it work if i change ROMs? and if its a software related issue, what else can i do other than flashing stock ROM. Also, the speaker feels distorted apart from being very low. Currently using stock ICS. Thanks.

Maybe you could try any apk like Speaker Boost and see the changes...
Otherwise , you can find some cheap broken Xperia on ebay
