Why should I update to ICS? - Verizon HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE

Can anyone give me a good reason to update to ICS? I like Gingerbread on my Phone and very happy with it. But everyone else seems to be crazy about ICS

One of many reasons is that Ics supports more files than gb

Once I tried ICS I couldn't go back to GB. Nothing in particular but I was hooked.

It looks pretty. The UI is much better imho. And that's not counting what's under the hood. But there isn't a GB build for the DInc4G as of yet...

People can be silly about "upgrades". I know people who got DVD players to replace their perfectly good VCRs. Nuts...

Sure but I didn't like it.

On some phones ics is not that great. For example, if you have to deal with the 3 dot menu button, its a huge UI fail. As is the sd card arrangement for phones with sd card slots.

The SD card naming scheme is that way for all Android 4.0+. There's nothing we can really do.

Bootmanager

Anyone got bootmanager working in the 3d?

I've successfully gotten 2 of the 6 roms I've tried to work. However they're basically unusable due to lag, so I've pretty much given up on using Bootmanager.

I tried senseless 2.0, both synergy sense and senseless, and none of them work. on the last step when it says editing boot.img, it then states it's unable to copy it or something like that :/ its dumb. i've tried everything. I've been waiting for a multi boot like this
I got a boot image fail too... Sucks

Those of you with failures, have you tried emailing the dev: [email protected]? I've heard he's pretty responsive.

About to try it out, but hesitiant to drop my last few dollars from paypal. I've heard it works though from others. Anyone else got it working? Specifically on SupraROM 1.5 (AOSP) or Pulse? I'm working on mods for these ROMs and it would make it so much easier than NANDing back and forth.

BTW, any idea if Siyah kernel is compatible?
What do I need to do to install TW4.5? When I tried doing it through ADB, I got Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES]. I copied it onto storage and tried installing straight on the phone, and it tells application not installed.

Two things I've noticed right off the bat.
1. My wifi keeps dropping every once in a while(had a similar problem with another rom using a 2.3.6 leak)
2. Home button has a little lag.
edit: Searched Android 2.3.6 wifi problems and I got a ton of results with people saying the same thing.
edit: flashing to something else for now. Sorry OP. Everything else looked pretty good too.
Hmmmmmm, seems ics doesn't look as nice as it should, or is it just me? Really ugly dialer setup and mms apk...what's up with neon blue being in...

Dual Booting on Rezound

I want to dual boot on my rezound. However, what Im unsure about is if it is possible to do if the two roms require different kernels. For example if I ran a Gb rom which needs a gb kernel, and then tried to dual boot with a ics rom that needs a ics kernel. Is this possible?
I too am wondering this. I was gonna make a nand of a GB Rom and one of an ICS Rom and switch between them
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
I think it can be done. I am actually working on it now.
At first I was like "Uh..why would you want to do that?" but then thinking of how many times I have reinstalled BAMF (4) and tried new ROMS on top of that (4)....
That's a nice idea. I don't see it happening. But a nice idea all the same.

Would the nand idea work since the amon recovery allows you to backup the kernel as well? Just as long as you wipe data when switching between the nands?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
The reason I wanted to do it was because I wanted to be able to toy with the sense 4 roms that are unstable, without having to wipe data install the rom then have to switch back and redo my whole setup since they aren't stable. If we had dual booting the wiping data and resetting can be avoided and I can continue to check the sense 4 roms with ease.

No that's not true. It installs a completely separate rom in a partion on your sdcard and you can boot between them. Has nothing to do with profiles.

I was confusing this with something else, however... from the app page:
REQUIRES
ROOT
S-OFF
There is no S-OFF for the Rezound.
And the Rezound is not on the list of supported devices.

thanks for the effort but dont do that.
after some reading, designgears .exe leak changes everything INCLUDING flashing ics bootloaders. if you read dag8s op he uses gingerbread bootloaders with ics on top to allow you to restore back to a gingerbread backup seamlessly.
Otherwise you will have to manually flash gb bootloaders

Can this be flashed using 4EXT or must it be renamed and flashed like any other stock ROM? (relocking bootloader, renaming file, etc)
Curious because I wanted to update to the "R2" version released by football..but might as well use this if it's already rooted and such, save a little time.
By the way, anyone know what the difference is between the latest ICS OTA and the "R2" version posted by football? (it wasn't posted in the Amaze forums, but it was posted on his filefactory account)
Kind if irritated that I even updated to ICS at all right now (used the OTA) because it seems to have totally borked WiFi calling (there's some kind of crazy delay that appears ~10 minutes into a phone call... other users getting the same thing). Really didn't want to S-OFF and revert to GB, though, so hoping this "R2" release fixed that
