hi guys,
I have only a question:
Where is the button at the keyboard to hide this, if i don't need the keyboard anymore?
At the most time, the keyboard covert the app's button's at the bottom, so i must hide this.
At my "old" phone with ICS i had it on the left side...
sorry for this bad english
Press the back button to hide the keyboard

Can someone please get a working three button remap. I hate the three dots that take up 1/8 of the screen. Thanks in advance.

It'd be great to map the menu button to long-press recents.
I know how to edit buttons but not long press which I would like to have recent switched to menu and long press that for recent.

That would be awesome! It is a shame to lose that bottom 1/4 inch of screen to the menu button

Holla all devs and hope you're doing really fine!
So my trouble here is about screencaptures, snapshots, screenshots... etc..
To take a screenshot on a Gingerbread Samsung Galaxy S "for example" you'll need to hold home and Back button.. well.. you can't do this in some apps as they exit :/
So is there anyway to change my Gingerbread's screenshot's hotkey to Vol+ and Home or such???
Thanks in advance!

Okey so when i found this method on customizing themes for the awesome Google keyboard it literally made my day!
Okey so to get the theme you have to first download Apex or Nova launcher (you can uninstall this after theme applied).
Longpress on home and select "Shortcuts". Next hit Activities. Next find Google keyboard and select the Google keyboard that ends with "...debug settings" this creates shortcut on home page.
Then navigate to the shortcut and once you select it you will see a menu and it will have several different themes. I personally like the Gingerbread one (looks closest to Samsung keyboard but better because of autocorrect).
Afterwards you can uninstall the launcher and the theme remains!!!
Don't be shy to thank a Russian!

Anyone try this on their smart phones??

What am I missing? By longpress on home, you mean longpress the home screen right? So the menu to add stuff to the homescreen? then select shortcut. When I do this under apex launcher, or nova launcher, there is not a option for google keyboard in my shortcuts...

Compatible with Android > 4.1.1
"The menu button is not pining, it's back! This button is alive again!
It has been revived! ..."
A very simple mod to remove that pesky overflow button for those of you who have physical buttons or just don't like it appearing in the top right corner. Note that this also removes the button from the navigation bar, although I have included instructions on how to preserve the navigation bar menu button. Please reboot after installing.
Tested on 4.4.2 AOSP
Changelog:
V1.1.2:
-Fixed app not working? Sorry about that.
(It worked though ADB for some reason)
V1.1.1:
-Disabled for Android <4.1.1 (incompatible)
-Removed UI
V1.1:
-Enabled for Android 2.3+
--Please verify compatibility
-Added some substance to the UI
V1:

Yes, it is the 3-dot menu button. I intended it to remove the button in the action bar, but I'm not sure what happens to the menu button in the navigation menu. I think it removes that too.
At last! thank you so much! That menu was a waste of space on i9100!
Thanks for this! Worked beautifully!

thanks a lot for this bro

i vote yes for atleast ics/jb and if not too much, why not gb too.
great idea, i never thought of this before, only felt annoyed by it on stock i9100/i9300 so i dont have kk (yet)
the buttons indeed are pesky, if you have physical button, menu should popup from bottom, near to finger where it was pressed, not from the top, hate that. :silly:
this is what I wanted..
awesome..
Somewhere it's gone, somewhere it stays. Luckily I've installed this module to make the button disappear in WhatsApp and in there it's gone
Keep on with this good job :good:
Awesome! Congratulation
Thanks for the mod
But can you disable the app Icon? because I think app icon in app drawer is redundant. It's better to keep it minimalist and we can access via Xposed modules.
Thanks!
Yup I'm going to hide the icon (I didn't know how to do it) and try to deal with more apps (I know Pandora, for one, still has the overflow button)

You want the icon not to be shown in the drawer? If I'm getting it right you can give a try to this and add it to your activity:
Code:
ComponentName componentToDisable = new ComponentName("your.app.package",
"your.app.package.youractivityname");
getPackageManager().setComponentEnabledSetting(componentToDisable,PackageManager.COMPONENT_ENABLED_STATE_DISABLED,
PackageManager.DONT_KILL_APP);
and try to deal with more apps (I know Pandora, for one, still has the overflow button)

Pointing at apps that still show the button would be helpful or annoying for you?
In case, I can make a list :good:

A list of unaffected apps would be amazing By all means, that would be helpful because I can't test that many apps.
It does not disable 3dot menu in :-
-AOSP Browser
-Google Dialer
-Calculator
To disable them i use gravity box and under misc setting use force disable

For my setup (I9100 with latest CM 11 nightly build) disabling overflow with Gravity Box doesn't work. I've talked with GB's dev about this as well.
About the list, I'll make it in this post, starting with the one from rush25 and adding more, editing the post itself. If apps have generic names I'm referring to the version provided by CyanogenMod in their builds.
Apps that still show 3dot overflow button:
App Cache Cleaner
Browser
Calculator
Dialer
Google Translate
TubeMate
