Do we have a CM7 port for our SGPs? If not could anyone try and port it? It seems a little lame to ask this but I like CM and I would love to have all the features of the SGP plus the features of CM

is anyone working on a port of the MIUI rom? that thing looks pretty slick IMO, and apparentley ther are some people trying to port it to hero cdma here : http://forums.miui-dev.com/showthread.php?226-How-to-Port-to-HTC-HERO-CDMA

The problem with MIUI is that it is a MASSIVE pain in the ass to port, or so I've heard.

Yeah, they started the port, first of all just getting the images to mdpi, but then needed some Devs to devote some time to getting it run, as it needed to be correctly compiled to work on the arm6 processor, which I am not even sure is possible.
So work has started to slow up now as the Devs are on other projects. I can't see it working unless we can get the top Devs to look at it and work on it.

you will be looking at the MIUI based roms. look instead for the AOSP or CyanogenMod based roms for a normal GB look. Try Wolfbreak or Jerpelea.....

Like you said MIUI? And AOSP? CyanogenMod ? just all have there own little tweaks about them?
they are all based on the same underlying system, but operate in different ways. Think of MIUI / AOSP / CyanogenMod as skins and it might make it a bit easier for you. They all do the same things, but look different doing them. AOSP is plain old vanilla Android, CyanogenMod is a highly customised version of AOSP and Miui is more of an iPhone clone. hope that helps

Last Question is.. some of these mods come with something called "spare parts, 1,2,3,4".. What are these? just Extra mods you can choose to install if you like?
spare parts is basically a pile of tweaks and mods that let you further customise your phone....see screenshots for examples. its got things like statusbar tweaks, launcher options and all sorts of little things. to be honest tho, ive never used them....
while we wait for aosp and or miui would you guys be interested in a GB or ICS rom with touchwiz and or samsung elements? i know most hate touchwiz but honestly i think it has alot of cool features including some nice lockscreen options.

just thought it could be cool to play with something different than sense for a change. id try to port it myself but i have no clue where to start. just getting a feel if this would be something some of the rezound members would be interested in? or if some of the devs could point me in the right direction of where to start and how to port?

So essentially you want sense-like widgets, with samsung icons ? Can't you do that already with a custom launcher and just swap out the icons ?
Isn't one UI on top of Android enough?
i just thought it would be something different and id like to learn about porting. my wife is running that rom and it's actually pretty solid.

Asked the same question on two CM9 based MIUI threads in the development section but havent got any answers or ideas, so maybe someone here can help
MIUI v4 for the SGS2 has the stock Sammy based camera app and/or styling/theme. A while back MIUI announced the new look of the camera app. Im still trying to understand what happened to the idea, and why it is not included in any SGS2 builds. Is it not compatible? Does it not exist?
Just wondering as MIUI v4 Sammy based and CM9/AOSP based dont seem very polished in terms of aesthetics and colour coordination. It is great, and fast, but doesnt look that great.
Anyone able to shed some light on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated! :fingers-crossed:

Personally I can't decide if I sould go with AOSP or sammy based roms. I find pros and cons with both. I really like the features of the roms with full TW, but I hate the look and feel. I love the look and feel on the vanilla roms, but I find some major bugs (running CM10 latest nightly) :S particularly with the camera (force close when i use flash is the biggest, as I dont care for effects)...
So I wonder...
What do you guys rocking on a daily driver, and why?
