I'm trying to factory reset but I don't want to lose all my game data. I'm not rooted but wouldn't it be as simple as copying the game data to my external SD and inserting the game data back in after the wipe?

When sprint turns ur service off the phone still has your info for your msid ect.. this sets your msid ect. To all 0's so your info will not be left on your phone.

Yes it is, go to applications, then all applications. After that, find the app and select it...you'll see the disable option, that freezes the app.
