NEW UPDATE (14/2/2013)
Google just pushed an update to its Search app . Among the new additions are the Google Now widget that we've all been hearing so much about, movie ratings, the ability to pull up movie passes purchased from Fandango, and real estate listings from Zillow when Google thinks you're in the market for a home. Now that's fancy. Additionally, the update also adds a music button when a song is playing in voice mode, though that feature is currently limited to the U.S. only. It also adds support for U.S. college sports. We've seen some of this integration before, but now it's official. Also, unfortunately it seems that the movie ratings (powered by Rotten Tomatoes) only shows up on the movies card which will only appear on certain days. Searching for a movie directly doesn't pull up a handy card with ratings and relevant info yet, unfortunately. Still holding out hope for that one.
Over-View
The music button is particularly interesting as it all but completely eliminates the need for a separate music search widget since you can easily access song matching by tapping on the voice icon on the Google Search widget (assuming you use it) just the same as you would to perform any other voice action. Handy!
NEW UPDATE (15/05/2013)
Google Now for Android has been updated with a few new features, though they're pretty awesome ones. First, voice reminders are finally live - you can now say, for example, "remind me to buy milk this evening" or "remind me to take out the trash when I get home." I think we can all agree that's kind of amazing.
The second new feature is suggested content, in the form of upcoming books, music, TV, and video games you might be interested in. Presumably, this is based on your email and search history. Finally, real-time public transit updates are coming for select cities. Nice! Some of these features - like reminders - don't actually seem to be working yet, so hold tight if you're not seeing them. The official Now card list has been updated accordingly.
Here's the full changelog:
For Android 4.1+ (Jelly Bean):
- Reminders (e.g. say "remind me to buy milk this evening", "remind me to take out the trash when I get home")
- Upcoming books, music albums, tv shows and video games you may like
- Real time public transit updates (select cities)
- Last train home (Japan only)
NEW UPDATE (31/05/2013) Coming soon
This morning, Google announced that they will now display nutritional information from the Knowledge Graph in Google Search. Once live, you should find “extensive nutrition information for over 1,000 fruits, vegetables, meats and meals in search,” from both the web and your mobile device you should be able to ask your device specific nutrition questions and have it respond back to you. When you ask Google “how many carbs are in corn?” it should respond while also providing a card with quick information, much like you see with other Google voice searches.
The service will launch in English first and will rollout out in the U.S. only over the next 10 days.
NEW UPDATE (26/06/2013)
What's in this version:
For Android 4.1+ (Jelly Bean):
- Information about shows you're watching on your internet-connected TV (US only)*
- Saved offers when nearby a redemption location
- New voice action: play music from your phone or the Play Store
- Voice actions tips
* Requires phone/tablet to be on the same network as your TV
NEW UPDATE (21/08/2013)
There is a new Google Search update rolling out, and it's bringing a bunch of new functionality to Google Now. There are new cards for car rentals, concert tickets, commute sharing, NCAA football, updated transit, new TV info, and better reminders. It's like we're drowning in cards here.
Here's the full list of new and improved cards from the official Android Google+ account:
Car rentals card: Get reservation details and directions to the rental center directly in Google Now, which together with the boarding pass and hotel reservation cards, makes Google Now your ultimate travel companion.
Concert ticket card: Going to a concert? Google Now will have your event ticket ready when you arrive at the venue; along with popular, locally relevant websites, such as the upcoming events page for the venue.
Improved public transit cards: If you regularly take public transit, Google Now will now inform you about the last train or bus to home so you never miss it.
Commute sharing card: When leaving work, you can now choose to inform your loved ones that you are on your way home. Learn more at http://goo.gl/bVUkLY
Set reminders while you search: When searching for music artists, movie actors, filmmakers and TV shows on Google, you’ll see a new “remind me” button on the panel by the search results. Click on it and a Google Now reminder will show up for new albums, book releases or upcoming TV episodes.
Updated TV card: Google Now can tell you about the news mentioned and music playing in the TV show you’re watching, in addition to program information and people mentioned in show. Simply tap on the TV card if you have a smart TV or tap on the mic and say "listen to TV”.
NCAA football scores: Football season is about to start, and Google Now has you covered--you can now see real-time scores for your favorite NCAA team in Google Now.
A lot of this, like the car rental and concert ticket cards, will likely rely on pulling data from Gmail. The new reminders will be based entirely on what you're searching for.
The commute sharing sounds kind of magical, but setup is weird. You can enable it by going into the Google Now traffic settings and turn on commute updates. Then add people under the "Choose who can see your location using Google+" setting. In Google+ the pinpoint location section is the one you need to add your trusted folks to. Yeah, it's kind of convoluted, but neat.
Can't wait side load the APK of v2.7.9.789824 , Android 4.1+,http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23060877490001320 -14,872,254 bytes - sources and thanks, Android Police!).
Most of us may feel awkward about this guide. But it is truly helpful to lot of us.

Google now app launch
To open an application you can either say launch or open, but i was able to open an application only in English (US) not other countries languages.. fix for this is selecting more from the tool bar (example web, images, more ) you'll see that after a search scroll to the end you'll get a phone(1) icon... but ill keep you updated if I find a fix for it.

Did the new update of google now remove the "traffic to home" comman?
I used to say "traffic to home" and it displays the same picture as the trafic to home card that shows up automatically when your leaving work. Its helpful for when you accdentally swipe away the traffic card. I noticed "traffic to" and a specific address still works. Also "traffic to work" voice command no longer works but the card still shows up like its supposed to.
hey, nice post!
i dunno if you guys know this or not but holding the menu button (on the home screen /app drawer) launches google now!
thanks should go to my girlfriend who showed it to me on her s3.. but if you push the button below i promise to pass it on
Its amazing but small question, how can i open the google app by swiping in the home screen not the lock screen

Location Based Apps Now that i have a working BT (courtersy of CM7) and a BT GPS ($35 at amazon), i started looking for location based apps - here's a short summary of what i've used google maps/navigation - yes works great including turn by turn but you do need a wifi connection to get tfe maps updated (my mifi works great in this regard). A decent list to start but it's just as you said, a copy of your note 2 list. A lot of those are unnecessary (like jelly bean keyboard). I was more hoping for apps that really maximize the power or display of the DNA (or both). Anyone know of any apps that maximize the 1080p display? Goku80 said: 2. Picsay Pro - This is a brilliant photo editor, but limited compared to some others. My personal favourite. Click to expand... Click to collapse For photo editing, Snapseed was just released for Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.niksoftware.snapseed It's the only one I keep on my phone for now. The UI is good/quick/intuitive. The "structure" adjustment is like a HiRaLoAm local contrast enhancement, which is the one thing I do on almost every photo I edit in Photoshop on my computer. One of the more impressive photo editors IMO is this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.iudesk.android.photo.editor More professional layout, curves/levels adjustments. For me though if I'm going to spend more than ~2min editing a photo I'll do it on my desktop in Photoshop. I think Snapseed is plenty good for sprucing up your crappy cell phone pics for Facebook/imgur, emailing your grandma etc..
For photo editing I would recommend: Autodesk Pixlr . - It's a really complex photo editing software, probably the most in-depth app for photo editing on android. For "lost phones" I would recommend: SeekDroid - This is a great app, track your phone from any computer or lock it via SMS. I can attest to this software, it works great on the DNA. Also, for music, though its not the audiophiles choice, Google Play Music is great, as you can store all of your music in "the cloud" ( I think up to 2k songs? or 20k?? not sure) and play them wherever you are. This is brilliant for those lucky enough to retain their unlimited 4G For wallpapers: Wallbase ... There is no better wallpaper site period, and now they have an app For VNC / remote computer control, you can't really beat SplashTop 2. The latency is so fast, it almost feels like the computer IS on your phone. Also works with windows 8 gestures. For backups: GoBackup is a great app.. very simple to use and can be a lifesaver if your phone crashes and you DIDN'T back up your SMS/MMS messages or whatever else, wifi hotspots, ringtones, wallpapers, contacts, call logs etc etc. I will update with links later because right now I am in class... Sorry! xD

Any chance we could get a revised list of FREE apps for non-rooted phones? =)
Any.DO is a to-do and task app, that's elegantly designed, and works great! Posts the current items due today in your notification bar, so it's hard to miss! It even asks if you'd like a reminder, if you have a phone call come in and you hit "Cancel"... It's free. Give it a try!
Jarocks said: SuperSU doesn't work correctly on the DNA to my understanding. Click to expand... Click to collapse I fixed that issue through replacing the kernel with the Cubed 2.4.2 kernel so that it is now writeable. After that SuperSU works just fine
IMO, Swiftkey should be on the list.

Link Together watch face with yourself
Not sure this is common interest, but I was really curious about to try the new Together face, and I have no friend with a moto360 (or any wearable device) yet...PLUS I couldn't find anything explaining how to test it on the internet when I needed. So, using a quick trick, I managed to link the face to myself for testing, now I can send emoji, stickers, doodles and photos to my Moto and use them as background for the face. (Well, I know it doesn't sound exciting, but for those geek out there, I know it is ) So here's what I did: - On your watch, choose the Together face - On your phone, open the Android Wear Companion app and tap on the Together face (specifically on the gear) - If asked, login with your google account - Tap "Pair With A Friend" button (or the plus icon for that matter) and send yourself an email - Tap on the link in the email and choose to open it with the Together app and..voilà now you're paired with yourself and if you go to you watch you can play around with it. (this should work between emulators too, if you need it for testing and debugging) Let me know if this was any help!
I tried it, and I felt the loneliest people in the world...
Ahaha I agree, it's just for testing..nothing more.
[APP] UK Train Times - Live train departures & arrivals on the Pace/Stratos
Train times on your watch! This is a simple app, originally developed to test the Communication library. It's designed to mimic a platform-level train departure board at a station, but displaying the platform too. Features - Add all of your local stations as options (tap the station name to pick from a list) - Supports both departures and arrivals - Shows all trains coming to the station soon (on time, delayed or cancelled) and the dreaded rail replacement buses - Tap an item for full info on a full screen layout - Displays calling points, including times - Shows statuses of the trains, including minor delays - Updates automatically every minute - Also supports pull down to refresh - Always shows a clock on screen so you don't lose track Data from National Rail Enquiries This app requires the Amazfit Internet Companion app to be installed on your phone. To find out how to install that, see this thread Installation and Usage - Make sure you have the Amazfit Internet Companion app installed (see above) - Download the latest release from here, and install it as follows: Code: adb install -r AmazfitUKTrainTimes-1.0.apk - Launch it from the app list in the launcher (this needs to be enabled, see here) Troubleshooting It shows an error loading! Check your watch and phone are connected (neither in airplane mode, Bluetooth for both is on and connected, phone is connected to the internet), and try restarting the service in the Amazfit Internet Companion app (See app thread for details) I can't close the app! Swipe on the clock at the bottom, it doesn't work on the train list. Alternatively, long press on the station name to close the app immediately
Incredible work!
