Hey,
I have flashed my international S3 with cm10 via Odin (I have done WIPE DATA via CWM before). When I go to settings --> storagespace, my total space is 11.35 gb. Space used is yet about only 200MB. My S3 says I have only 5.95 GB free! How is this possible?
Before I flashed my device, that ''5.95' GB'' can be true. I had pretty much apps on it. But now, I havent installed anything yet.
Anyone knows whats the issue or how to fix this?
Thanks in advance!

Hello, I have looked around the threads for possible solutions and have come up with none. I am currently using Telus Fascinate Galaxy S and currently running the stable CM7 with the Glitch kernel. I'm having troubles recieving text messages; it keeps telling me that there is full memory. The problem is that i have over 12GB of space on my sd card and it says 0.00B of space on the internal storage. I just flashed it and my internet works fine. Every other thread has found the solution in moving apps to the sd card but the difference with me is that I have no apps downloaded yet.. is there a known fix to this?
I had the same problem, did u flash the latest nightly by chance?? #181..
I don't know a fix persay, but if you free up some space in the /datadata, also found in /data/data, partition it will let your msgs come through.

Thanks for the reply, once a flashed the nightly 181 i got my text messages working again, however, any downloads i try to make still send the "free up some space and try again". i cleared all the cache's, moved everything i could to my sd card (which still has plenty of space) and i changed all my settings to install external and unchecked internal storage, if i try download anything from the internet or from the market, nothing works
I have now tried both MIUI and CM7 on my phone, both of them state that there is no internal memory (0.00B). Would there be a problem with the Glitch V13 kernal i'm using or is there a step in the flashing process i missed?
I'm running MIUI/glitch without the above issue. What was your install process?
I got most things working now, what modem are you running though?

tell us how you got it to work so others may benefit from similar issues. thx
I apologize if this has been answered somewhere else here before. I have been searching for days and have not found the full answers to my questions anywhere.
Recently I updated my GT-P7510 CM9 to an experimental CM10 from by pershoot. After getting it up and running I was looking at my internal storage usage and numbers didn't seem to add up (must have done a dirty flash at some point in the past to cause this). My internal storage in root explorer showed 8.93gb in use and 28.01 total storage. I copied everything to a USB drive to back it up and noticed there was only 7.45gb actually on the internal storage. I have seen this problem before on my S2, and I always just reformat the internal SD card (emmc) to regain the missing space. However, since the tab does not have a micro SD slot, I have no way of wiping the internal sdcard (data/media) without wiping out the rom too from how I understand it. Somebody correct me if I am wrong...
So, does anybody know of a way to successfully wipe/format the sdcard (data/media directory) in CWM or other method that will not wipe out the rom and send the device straight to cwm with no way to install a new rom? Or do I have to revert back to stock to accomplish the format of sdcard like I have read for a few other similar situations? Everything works fine (CM10 & CM9 both run awesome), I just want that extra 1.48gb of missing/phantom storage back. And, without mass storage mode, I cannot perform a disk check in win7. This has really got me frustrated to find a solution without having to start over. I wish this tab had a micro SD slot!
Currently I am running CM9 nightlies (7-31) for p4wifi (gt-p7510). My cwm recovery is version 6.0.1.0. Any help is greatly appreciated, and I do apologize if this has been covered before. Thanks in advance to those of you smarter than I.

Ok, I seemed to have figured this one out and now feel pretty stupid for not digging a bit further before asking.
After I decided to go ahead with the sdcard format using CWM, I noticed that the space was still being used somewhere. After I started to dig a bit, I noticed that all of my apps still worked after the format. Basically, the extra space is being consumed by the /data/app folder housing all user apps. CWM must be designed to ignore this directory when formatting the internal sdcard which is why there was still some storage being used.
I feel like an ubernoob for asking this, but my S2's internal sdcard is not mapped to data/media, so I had to learn a bit better about how this thing works I suppose. Anyways, I hope this information can be useful to someone out there having similar questions.

Although that is a similar problem, I asked if there is a way to fix it without going that route? I appreciate your reply, but I already knew it could be resolved by going back to stock (2nd paragraph of my post).

I can accomplish a full format of the internal sdcard on my galaxy s2 without it affecting the rom in any way whatsoever and it is running cwm 6.0.1.0 also. From how I understand it, the partitions are set up differently on the s2 and this device. The s2 has a separate partition for the internal sdcard making it possible to format via cwm. On this device, the sdcard is part of the data partition meaning wiping it will leave you with no rom installed and no storage on the sdcard. I think all versions of cwm can wipe the slate clean, it is just a matter of everything else being wiped clean also. But, if you are aware of a cwm that let's me accomplish this, I would love to find it. Thanks again.

I have the same issue .. I was manually formatted using my windows 7 laptop.. flash back to old stock samsung firmware.. still 4.11 GB internal USb storage instead of 11.8 GB.. Any help please..
I think it's possible with adb shell (the android sdk for Windows)

Hey guys, kind of a noob when it comes to this stuff, so go easy
So, I've rooted my phone and am currently running the official ICS update -- I currently have 4EXT flashed as my recovery and I was just wondering if there was any way to increase the built in storage space on the phone. The stats tell me that there is about 2.34 total available space on the internal SD -- which seems kind of small -- and I was just wondering if there is any way to increase that amount. I figured I would come here and ask first (tried searching for an answer, but no luck) before I royally screw up my phone. Thanks for any help!
Go to settings/storage to see all space

I believe you are looking at the system partition. There is another 10 gb of internal storage.
Go settings/storage to see the breakdown.
Hope this helps!

Hi Everyone,
I have an issue with my VZW GS4. All of my storage seems to be utilized by "phantom" files. I was updating my playstore apps yesterday and I got a memory almost full error. I only have 1 GB pictures, .5 GB music, and .3 GB applications used. I know the system is using almost half of the my memory off the bat, but looking at the files above, it did not make sense that I would only have 300 MB left out of 9GB or so available to me.
My device was rooted, but was still on the VRUAMDK Kernel flashed after rooting. I had Titanium backup installed but did not actually do any backups. I had CWM manager installed and had one recovery that took up a small amount of memory, so I wasn't sure what would be taking up all my memory.
I decided I wanted to do a wipe on the phone after backing up my pics/music to see if i could wipe the memory and start clean. I wiped the device using the stock recovery app and the phone still only has 4.2GB free. I guess a wipe/factory reset does not clean EVERYTHING off the SD card. When I go into the Device Memory section in settings, it appears I have half of memory free, but it still lists 4.2GB available. I did a file usage analysis and it does not listed Could something I had done in CWM Rom Manager created some hidden files that wouldn't get wiped? Does the GS4 auto software update download to a hidden folder before being installed? The phone recently download the new ME7 firmware which I did not install yet.
Using an android file browser i've looked around the SD card system folders but I would have no idea what would be taking up so much room. Has anyone else had an issue like this? Can I wipe the non-system partition of the SD card somehow? I am just not familiar with this and I wouldn't want to mess up the OS somehow.

Looks like a CWM recovery was sitting in root/data/media. I found this solution in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2274218
This is a question that may have been answered elsewhere but I can't find it specifically discussed here for the Verizon Galaxy S4.
I'm currently running the most recent Hyperdrive ROM. About a week ago I downloaded the AOKP milestone 2 release for the S4 and installed it on my device. Unfortunately there were some bugs that kept showing up and I eventually wiped the install and reverted back to Hyperdrive. I'm not satisfied with my current storage capacities on the device itself. Hyperdrive, though a great ROM, is still Touchwiz based and therefore there is very little available storage once installed on the phone.
I'm considering trying AOKP again. May wiping a few more times and ensuring that the install is bug free before I revert this time. My question is this. I recall there still being very little storage on the device after I installed AOKP which is unusual since it's only a 180MB file versus the 1.5GB file size of Hyperdrive. Would formating the internal storage be an option during install? Would it free up whatever recovery partitions or bloat that is eating up that 16GB? According to what I've read there should be about 14 to 14.5GB of available storage on a bone dry Verizon Galaxy S4 with not OS installed. Wouldn't AOKP with it's small file size equate to 13GB? I'm guessing I'm missing something. Thank you to whoever advises.

in recovery do a factory reset (if using team win recovery aka twrp) go to wipe then slide the slider all the way to the right....then go back once more to wipe and hit advanced wipe...select cache and dalvik and system....then flash aokp and the GApps package then fix permissions.....once you boot up go to settings>>storage and see what is eating up the space if any at all.... not sure if youre new to flashing or not but backups take up A LOT A LOT A LOT of space anywhere from 1-2GB or more per backup....go to settings>>storage and everything you need to know is there about what is taking up space....if you dont find your answer there come back here and let me know what you see or just PM me and ill gladly help you out...are you restoring data or using titanium backup?

Thanks for the advice. I went ahead and did the factory reset and usual wipes. I also formatted the system, data, and device storage using CWM. Sure enough after installing AOKP I'm down to 8gb of available space instead of 2. It was probably backups taking up the space as you mentioned. Thank you again for the advice.

I'm on MDK bootleader with GPE 4.4.4 Danvdh. Trying to free up mystery missing GBs.
On OUDhs CWM Touch Recovery v 1.0.3.5.
Whats the difference between "Wipe" and "Format". Dont want to brick the phone.
