Hi
Last time i flashed BiParanoid JB ROM. It wasn't a good ROM for me, because for ex. videos on YT hasn't appeared. After that I decided to change the ROM to Cool ICS. And that's the point. The phone stucks on hTC logo and then restarts and so on. I tried to flash another ROM - mwakious and the result was the same. So what is the problem and what I have to do ?
I've the 4EXT recovery.
My hTC is S-OFF
hboot 1.49.1107
radio 11.25.3504.06_M
Thx for the answers
BTW, I am a noob, so please don't ''bark''
Are you using 4ext recovery, If so, go to wipe and format everything except sdcard and re flash the rom
( Don't ask me for help as I couldn't care if your phone explodes, eh! )
Thx for the answer, I did that but It is still bootloopin' and rebootin'.
Before you flash the rom pull your battery and go into recovery through bootloader, after the rom flashes again pull your battery and start your phone, that's what I did when I used coolexe rom once. Btw video can be played on cm10 by 2 methods, 1 download mx player and select sw decoder 2nd developer options select disable hw overlays, bam videos play, although I prefer the first method
( Don't ask me for help as I couldn't care if your phone explodes, eh! )
But what do you mean by ''pulling battery'' ? I can't take out it, otherwise Evo won't turn on ( while it's charging, of course).
Pull the battery and put it back in, sorry I should have been more descriptive.
( Don't ask me for help as I couldn't care if your phone explodes, eh! )
It is still bootloopin'. What is the reason ? What i have to do ?
Try another hboot
( Don't ask me for help as I couldn't care if your phone explodes, eh! )
Thx, but how can I flash the antoher hboot ? And which hboot ? Thx for the answer
My ideas:
Redownload the ROM then reflash
Flash the boot.IMG from the ROM via fast boot
Change hboot

Find the hboot file and and rename it PG86IMG.zip and put it on your SD card and boot into the boot loader. It will register it and ask to flash it.
So, I can flash boot.img from for ex. mwakious ROM, but where is the hboot located ? I don't have fastboot on my PC, so how can I install it ( but I have it on Evo,of course).
copy PG86IMG.zip to sdcard then go to bootloader and install the zip

Hi, I've had an Evo 3D for a while now but liked the stock features. However I then got a bit bored and decided to install a custom ROM. Here's what I have done so far:
Unlock bootloader (HTC)
Rooted
S-Off using the wire trick
I am running a GSM phone.
I then tried installing the BETA of the PACMan ROM for GSM but get stuck in the loop. It gets to the splash screen of the ROM then reboots. If I go back to my stock ROM restore it's fine. I have 4EXT installed and before installing the ROM did a full wipe except SDCARD.
Any ideas? I can't post on the Dev thread for the ROM ...

I would say the wrong hboot, if your 1.53 jb will not boot so you need to downgrade your hboot to 1.49

Hmm ... so I figured out why it might be boot looping, I had SmartFlash enabled in 4EXT even though I'm S-Off. Now it's not boot looping but just stuck on the slash screen for PACMan.
If I downgrade do I need to S-Off again?
---------- Post added at 04:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:04 PM ----------
Answered my own question ... followed the instructions in THIS THREAD and downgraded the HBOOT. Still not loading my ROM, may try reflashing it.
Another update ... it worked! I was running out of ideas and thought I would try ClockworkMod Recovery instead of 4EXT, did exactly what I did before in terms of wiping cache, etc. and hey presto it came up! So maybe worth trying if you're S-Off.
I must admit I put off doing S-Off but I wish I had done it earlier, make things so easier!

I've rooted my HTC Desire with revolutionary.exe, and allowed clockwork fix within the installation. After that, i've placed the Aurora ROM on my SD card and done the wipe things in recovery, and successfully installed the rom from my SD card. After that clicked on reboot, and the phone wont boot anymore. Tried installing other ROMs too but it would say the rom cannot be installed on my device.
I was running HBOOT 1.02 before, with Android 2.3.3 on.
Now my menu looks like:
-REVOLUTIONARY-
BRAVO PVT4 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.93.1002
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.17.05.23
Can anyone please tell me how to fix this ASAP!!? Even if i cant root my phone, i want to get it working like before, please. Thank you in advance!
Have you really rooted your device?
I followed a guide from unlckrz or something, and since my hboot menu looks like this, ibguess yes. In any case, can you give me a link that explains how to root and install custom roms on desire that was running Gingerbread HBOOT 1.02 before?
And what would prevent roms from installing on this Revolutionary root?
you will need to flash the stock hboot zip that is on the aurora page after u have flashed the rom as you have still got the stock hboot ...
of u could just flash the cm7 hboot then flash the rom.
Thank you dude. I successfully flashed AlphaRev CM7 r2 hboot [i guess], and now on hboot menu it says AlphaRev CM7 r2 on top in the pink field, but i still have the same problems when i flash Aurora from recovery... How the **** to fix that? In the mean time, i have successfully installed Cyanogen Mod 7.1.0 and that works without any problems.. I started this procedure only for the Aurora mod, so i would need a bit of your help to install it please... I am quite a noob in this field. ^^
aand should i mention i installed CM7/r2 with Android Flasher [if it matters]
basically i tried this rom with cm7r2 and it was screwed
so i flashed the cm7 hboot........ it makes all the difference apparently cuz it took aurora 5 mins to boot
i used fastboot commander cuz i find it easier
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193915
basically flash the donwgrader
http://alpharev.nl/bravo_downgrade.img
then on ur phone reboot the bootloader. it should say sommit else as hboot and not cm7r2 then just flash the cm7 hboot.. ill upload it in a sec ... then clear all data and flash the rom in recovery. dont flash the stock hboot.zip after the rom

Just to get you back on your phone, boot into recovery, do a full wipe, then flash this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318942
It's a stock ROM, but it's rooted. As long as you're GSM, you should be fine.
I've seen people with worse problems and they fixed it!
If you have any more questions, just ask!

On a GSM EVO 3D, you flash this before going S-OFF, haha.
Hi,
Ive got similar problem. My Hboot is 1.53.0007 with S-ON. few days ago I tried to instal DSP manager for ICS but it didnt work, After flashing DSPmanager.zip the built -in music player did not have equalizer option anymore, so I decided flash stock ICS rom again to get it work properly.
At first I relock bootloader (RELOCK has shown) and then I wanted to flash it as update from main menu. But I couldn't get to boot up no more. I can access to bootloader, can flash recovery, or 4ext recovery, can flash the rom, but cannot downgrade Hboot to i.e. 1.49.018, and any flashed rom doesnt boot up, only shows HTC logo, then for 2 second booting flashed rom screen appears and then reboot- over and over again.
Have I bricked my device? I was looking for any working PG86IMG.zip, but nothing works. After trying to flash PG86IMG.zip it does nothing . I can also unlock device via fastboot, cause generated CODE.bin is always the same, so I neednt to do unlock via HTCDev.com. Also I cant flash this ICS update rom :OTA_SHOOTER_U_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_3.28.401.1-1.20.401.8_release_2627623qpt0ma8rnwgn0qq.zip
Please help me if have got any suggestion!

You're device isn't bricked, it's in a bootloop.
If you can get into recovery, try flashing KingCobraICS V1.2. Make sure it's 1.2.
Otherwise, you can try flashing the ROM I posted above, it's a stock rooted GB ROM. Message me if you can't get this fixed.

Thanks, thanks and one more thanks. I flashed KingCobraICS V1.2, but only stuck on the splash screen (HTC logo), then, via fastboot I flashed follows:
Kernel:
3.0.16-ge733189: boot.img
and then
Firmware:
11.77.3504.00U_11.25.3504.06_M: PG86IMG.zip
and device succesfully booted up an android, but I didnt have a SIM card inside, so on the screen was SAFE MOD written, so I turned off EVO and instal SIM card. When I have turned on EVO again it froze on the BEATS AUDIO splash screen. So I again did flash same rom KingCobraICS V1.2 and now everything is working properly.
One more question- what should I do when I want to stock ICS rom? I am really afraid to do anything due to previous complicaions. Can I flash GB stock rom and consequently ICS update.

Why would you want the Stock ICS ROM?
But, if you do want it, you'll need to flash the Stock GB RUU, make sure you have the stock HTC Recovery, and then lock your bootloader.
After that, you should be find to accept the OTA Update.

The reason you at stuck is because of your hboot 1.53.0007 and s-on you must downgrade and s-off then if you want you can re s-on

One of the reason is some not working stuff in Cobra's rom, in rom 1.2 wifi doesnt work and all patches dont work aswell, At rom 1.6 mobile data connection doesnt work. But, I still cant flash GB stock rom. Its cause Im not S-OFF I think. Have no luck to get work other rom except Cobra's. So Im at cobra 1.2 for now and trying to get another working rom to my EVO. Yesterday I tried to flash stock bootloader, no succes, and I cant flash 4ext touch recovery anymore. Only cwm 4.0.x.x I can flash now. i dont know why. I have to keep trying and there must be succes in the end.

Okay so i've had my htc evo 3d for a while and i decided to root it finally.
i rooted it, everything was fine, it was s-on.
i flashed like 3 roms and everything was great, ....until i flashed a kernel.
i first used the MAC kernel, and it worked great.
but then i flashed the "No name" kernel from the same creator from the MAC kernel for the htc evo 3d and i got bootloops?
i also noticed it sent me back to Hboot 1.57 somehow? and i was on 1.58?
so, i went back into 4ext recovery and wiped everything and flashed a stock rom i had.
yet, i still have the bootloop going on...
what do i do? i really want my htc evo 3d back, i had to go back to my lg optimus V for now until someone can help me :/
Thank you for your time, and to whoever helps me with my semi-bricked device

It's not a Rom or kernel issue, try flashing my pg86img.zip in the EVO 3d gsm development thread, adding your own cid to the text file (this has only been tested on gsm) but if your already looping what's the harm in trying

I don't think that's even relevant, but I'm gsm and can't test cdma so I can't tell you it works, but on another note, where's the harm in trying
S-on is an issue, I believe because you are s-on the kernel flash was bad, some kernels require s-off , did you try another kernel, or flashing bootimg through fastboot

Yeah I think it's an issue too. I've tried flashing the MAC kernel that worked before and nothing. Where can I find a bootimg? Is it the same as pg86img?
Sent from my LG-VM670 using xda premium
No, pg86img is the firmware but some Roms have the bootimg within the zip, just open your Rom with WinZip or 7zip extract bootimg and place it on your sdcard and flash it with fastboot

Or try to wipe dalvik and cache and refresh the kernel

Okay, so I went into bootloader and tried going to recovery, and I guess I don't have a recovery anymore? Is there anything I can flash for one? So I can wipe dalvik and so on.

The unnamed kernel requires S-OFF to work correctly
You can try 4ext, but you might need to run a ruu and.start from scratch again?

I asked about a month ago for the mods to verify if a kernel requires s-off to be flashed, see what happens. if you can I would recommend going s-off.

I know right? I looked at the the forum again and It nowhere says I need s off.... So it just screwed me over cause I was s-on. Where can I find a Ruu? Sorry, I'm kinda new to all this.
If I need to go back to factory stock unrooted, I don't care, I just want my evo 3d to boot up again Haha.

If you have the Virgin Mobile version of the Evo 3D the RUU.exe you want to use is the fourth one from the top on this page.
To flash the RUU.exe, if you have HTC unlocked the bootloader you will need to "fastboot oem lock" with the phone in the "fastboot USB" mode in the bootloader, then start the RUU.exe from Windows. It takes about 10 minutes to run and should leave you with a totally stock configuration, except the bootloader will say "***RELOCKED***" at the top instead of "***LOCKED***".
Before you run that it might be worth starting 4EXT recovery by using "fastboot boot recovery.img" from a PC and flashing a mostly stock rooted ROM like MeanROM ICS or CleanROM BE ICS because it sounds like you may just have a non-bootable kernel and 4EXT SmartFlash required for flashing kernels directly from recovery with S-ON won't work if the current kernel is not bootable. You could also try flashing the stock VM kernel from here after using the fastboot command to start recovery.

You should reflash a Stock ROM from RUU or extract ROM.ZIP to flash via Fastboot.

Thanks alot for your reply ramjet,
okay, well i tried downloading the 4th one from where you told me and file factory is giving me a "problem loading page" so i cant download it. i have my htc locked now and it says ***RELOCKED*** so all i need to do now is install the 4ext recovery through bootloader and flash the rom and kernel and run RUU,but i need your download.
Edit: So i tried flashing recovery.img through fastboot and i got "cannot load 'recovery.img'" ?
No, ramjet told you to flash 4ext recovery before you do anything, now you can't flash recovery because you have a locked bootloader.
if you still want to go the 4ext way, you will have to unlock bootloader via htcdev.com again or use the same unlock code.bin that you used previously. then fastboot flash the recovery. then get a Rom that works with your bootloader version and flash it using 4ext recovery with smartflash turned on.

Can you help me please.
maybe this can fix if you rewrite with adb the boot.img from your rom .

Which hboot version you have? I running CM10.1 - 4.2.2 and i recommend it.
JB rom for htc evo 3d (Even a good working bug-less ICS would do)

I've also been stuck on leedroids GB rom for a long time..its overclocked processor to 1.5ghz dual core actually drains the battery too much . I wanted to try the Carbon JB custom rom but the site has been pulled down already..Any recommendation guys i would much appreciate, especially if it has sense UI. even an ICS recomendatio with working 3D camera will do for now. My GB rom is way past its date
Overclocking the already quite sufficient 1.2ghz dual core was a mistake by LeeDroid.
this XDA link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2237238 here has all the recent Evo 3D Roms/Kernels/Tweaks etcetera..If you happen to try any of them especially the JB and ICS roms and find them satisfactory please do recommend here..
For running JB you need hboot version 1.49.xxxx.
Coming from hboot 1.53.0007 (GSM Device) you have to
1st Unlock (HTC Dev way)
2ns S-Off (Wire Trick)
3rd Downgrade hboot.
For the Unlock thing, if you're not already unlocked, look here.
When it comes to S-Off, look here. Read the instructions carefully.
A pretty good explanation about how to downgrade to hboot 1.49.xxxx is here.

Thanks for the quick response, Senior member, youve helped a lot of members here, hopefully you'll also help me too..my device is as such
S-ON,
UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER,
ITS A SHOOTER_U (GSM) ,
WITH HBOOT-1.49.0012.
I would very much like to switch the rom from my 2.3 GB Android, to the 4.2.2 liquid smooth 2.9 CM. although it doesnt have sense Ive also read on numerous threads that i do not have to be S-OFF as i can use the 4EXT recovery to perform smart flashing safely. Any thoughts on this??
I plan to do this,
1/ download liquid smooth
2/ fastboot boot "file.img"
3/ clear dalvik, cache, wipe factory reset,
4/ Flash rom via 4EXT.
5/Reboot.
its how ive always done the Rom flashing. Any problem with my method? do i have to like flash radio/new kernel/ etc??
Latest radio is recommended for most custom roms.
So check if you have the latest radio, otherwise you can get it from here (link from @johnnyslt thread).
To flash new radio you have to be s-off.
A good explanation is here.
Though I did it the other way on my 2 EVO since both had hboot 1.53.0007.
you will most definitely have to flash this new firmware if you want to run ics/jb/kk roms. you might not need to s-off cause you have an older hboot but i highly recommend you get s-off.
As for your method, make the following changes
1. If you do not have 4EXT, get it first
2. Turn on smartflash in 4EXT recovery options
3. Make a nandroid backup from recovery (in case something goes wrong)
4. wipe data/factory reset. wipe cache and dalvik-cache
5. Install rom via recovery and reboot (boot image should be flashed automatically due to smartflash. phone will reboot twice)
If this does not get the rom to boot then you WILL need to s-off. restore your nandroid to get phone back in working condition.
P.S. the command to flash boot.img is "fastboot flash boot boot.img"

Eminem, thank you for your feedback on my issue. Okay I have tried everything but the phone just wont get past the boot animation. I have NonSense ICS Rom, flashed boot image via fastboot (thanks for your correction on the command) , flashed Rom, done a superwipe, but all the PG86IMG.ZIP files just wont flash in bootloader. Its starts parsing the zip then just exits just as soon as it starts. I'm guessing this file contains the new radio that will updgrade mine from the GB one to be accept ICS/JB/KITKAT.
I have to the conclusion that the only hindering factor that is keeping my evo 3d from fully booting after flashing a new rom despite dong everything correctly must be the fact that i havent yet achieved S-OFF and hence cannot flash new bootloader, And the only way to do that is via juopunutbear method as the Revotionary tool only works with hboot 1.49.0007-1.49.0008 MIne being hboot 1.49.0012. Thus i ask, must i now download the Ubuntu o.s Ver 12.0 (or Later),just so i can S-Off coz the juopunut website forbids use of any other distros for the proccess.
By The way i have visited your thread and i must say i like it better. i can even spot a KITKAT rom in there. And once i dpo manage to achieve S-OFF i will definitely try it.

I have thrown in the towel and resorted to return to my Nandroid backup of LeeDroid Ver 5.4 GB. You cannot the believe the process to achieve S-OFF when not in stock rom as mine is a custom rom. It requires me to Return to stock rom, unroot the device, and also relock bootloader. Just so i can do all that again with the stock rom , then finally S-OFF using the Wire-Trick. Scoured the internet for days and not even one thread to S-OFF a HTC EVO 3D while on a GB custom Rom (Like my LeeDroid Rom) , with hboot 1.49.0012, all threads insists that i must chuck the Custom rom, get back on my stock rom and do the whole process again. Tiresome.
Looks like your phone is an asian-HK-CHT model
this RUU should work for you if you want to go to stock ICS. after that you'll need Ubuntu LiveCD to do the wiretrick.
I'm sorry but this is the only way for you to achieve s-off right now

This is the most helpfull post i have received so far. This is ICS (the RUU) an upgrade from my GB rom. So yes i will take it. I have never installed an RUU before, so is it basically just like an OTA upgrade update from GB?? I just download it like any other Rom and install/flash in Recovery and am done? jumping straight to ICS?? Already Downloading. Just tell me what to do with it in steps, remembering that my device is rooted , custom rom, hboot 1.49.0012
Question...
I understand installing an RUU will relock my bootlader and also unroot my device , right??
Essentially, what does an RUU update just the Android version, or even the radio? hboot? kernel?
ok waiiitt a sec
you have to run this exe file from your pc after connecting your phone in bootloader. but first you have to relock bootloader yourself. i'll link you a guide to help you with RUU
---------- Post added at 04:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:29 PM ----------
heres a guide that you can use for reference but it might be a little confusing cause its for cdma users. i'll just detail the steps myself. Yes this WILL upgrade your rom, hboot, recovery, kernel and radio. you will loose root but its simple enough to get back root.
1. boot into bootloader, connect phone to pc and run this command in cmd "fastboot oem lock"
2. Run the RUU exe file on your pc and follow all the steps. its a GUI so its pretty self explanatory. this should take around 15-20 mins max. DO NOT disconnect device when RUU is running
3. Phone should reboot into your brand new ICS rom. now you can proceed to unlock bootloader, flash recovery and root
If you get errors while running RUU it might mean that the RUU is incorrect. or you can see this post for any of the errors
All RUU's are located here
the right RUU for you depends on your area and whether its branded or unbranded

Hey Eminem, I just finished downloading the RUU you linked. my problem is that the RUU troubleshooting link you gave me ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33901562&postcount=117 ) says you must first the CID (fastboot getvar cid) as well as the main version of the software installed (fastboot getvar mainver)
In that regard my CID being HTC_622 AND Mainver being 1.22.708.6 am still not sure the right RUU to flash coz none on the RUU list have the same software mainversion. Nways, im going to try the This Asia RUU ( RUU_SHOOTER_U_ICS_35_S_hTC_Asia_WWE_3.28.707.1_Radio_11.77.3504.00U_11.25.3504.06_M_release_264110_signed ) and will revert with results. Thanks for Everything. Hope It works..Fingers Crossed.
Done trying the RUU ..its didnt work. Error 131 Customer ID Error. is any accurate way of knowing the precise RUU file to flash, with all the info i have aabout my Evo 3D?? The OS has just dissapeared , wont boot up, must've deleted the previous rom, even 4EXT recovery is now gone, i guess with root as well, and now have a RELOCKED bootloader.. #SIGH
there isnt a definite method to determine which RUU will work for you.which country did you purchase the phone from? and its not branded is it? you can try the Europe RUU but i doubt it would work. if it does not then download the gingerbread RUU then update to ICS via OTA
