Our phones don't support that, you have to flash the kernel separately with flashtool.

I dreaded it at that! but I thought maybe extracting the kernel and finding the lugars where FlashTools install these files were possible. But you confirmed what I already feared. Yet thanks Brothair!

Hey guys,
I really want to make a theme for slades rom but i just dont get how to make a flashable update.zip. Additionaly the new CWM requires edify-scripting -.- and here my update-zip-packager doesn't work anymore..for xrecovery it was just awesome..i already tried some amend2edify-converter, but that did not work either
So my question is, how can i make (or edit) an update.zip which can be flashed with the new CWM 3?
Thanks in advance,
nitro
i faced a similar situation today itslelf..n was ultimately forced to download the cwm version of slade's rom v5..
well if u just want to edit and replace apps n stuff, that can just b done in the sam way as any xrecovery rom...i used winrar to add n remove stuff from the rom n it works gr8
okay, thats an idea..but i want to make a theme..which means a flashable update.zip-file..does somebody know with what programm i can make such update.zips?
@ slade: how do you create your update.zips, e.g. the hotfixes with some single files?
Why don't you take a CWM package an unpack it via winrar/any other software? I'm quite sure there is an absolutely common folder structure following more or less the system folder structure and maybe there is one or there are more XML files in order to change some things in source files (e.g. change values in those *.hw files or whatever they are called) and to tell CWM what to do exactly.
As soon as you're done you simply zip it again (watch the folder structure).
***EDIT***
Ok, forget what I just posted. Had a look at one of slades zips and it's a little bit more than just an XML. Might not be smart to change stuff within that META-INF folder without knowing what you do.

I beg to disagree.....the X8 kernel does not come in the boot.img format. It has a kernel.sin that is compiled from an image and a ramdisk. The initlogo.rle (the file to be changed) is in the ramdisk. Ramdisk can be unpacked using DooMLorD's unlock-kernelsin.pl script. The method you mentioned won't work for the X8. Hope you understand what I mean. If you don't check my two guides.
I agree with sgt. meow here. And by use of linux (WM,Wubi or native install) and kernel kitchen by championswimmer which has all in one features is lot better and less confusing in my opinion.
Why do you want to wait for ftf file in searching on xda. if have latest update notification in Sony PC Campanion.

There's no need for multiple articles. Even if you remove XDA from the equation, there's plenty tutorials on Google.
Can't this be integrated into that? Would make the original thread much better. @PrakashGD Just post the same thing in the older thread, The OP of that thread (I assume DeamMask) would give u credit for ur work there.

Hello guys....After going through a lot of threads, I have seen a lot of users experiencing the loader_unlocked.sin error in flashtool. So I have made this guys to help all those people.
The error is something like this :
Code:
C:\Flashtool\devices\SK17\loader_unlocked.sin (System can not find the file specified)
This error is generally caused due to a missing file in most of the directory known. So here are the steps of overcoming this error :
1. Go to the directory where you have installed flashtool, for e.g. C: Drive.
2. Now open flashtool folder and select the devices folder from it and open the folder.
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3. Now open the R800 device folder.
4. Then copy the file loader_unlocked.sin from the folder.
5. Now open your device folder, for example SK17, i.e., Xperia Mini Pro. The "i" or "a" version doesn't matter.
6. And finally paste the loader_unlocked.sin in your your device's folder and now run the flashtool and you will be most probably successful!

Thank you very much for that, my phone's now working again!
One thing I really need to know though, should I remove that loader-unlocked file if I flash anything in future? Or do I need to keep it in the folder (in my case the ST18 folder) for good?

Intro
Finding yourself flashing different kernels by the day? Tired of copying the boot.img (or similar) files and overwriting them everytime time you wanna flash a kernel? Try this..
Steps
1.Download the tool
2.Extract it in your pc

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3.Find the .img, .sin, .elf kernels you regularly flash, and rename it to the name of the kernel (instead of boot/kernel etc) [Note: I recommend naming it without space]
4.copy it to the respective folders in the directory /KERNEL (ie in IMG, SIN, and ELF) [Note: run the exe file once to see the Kernel directory]
5.Run the executable file and flash the one you want

Nope, We can't do that from the xperia lineup, coz we don't have a recovery partition, the kernel contains the recovery, so we can't change kernel from the fone itself.

Hmmmm....you are long way from home my friends....for Xperia 2012 devices (Miro,Tipo, J, E) you don't need to this tool to flash kernel...you can use recovery (CWM) to flash your kernel along with the roms you flash....
but if you just wanna flash kernel then use Flashtool for it....
Awesome, thanks!
Nice one, thanks.
