Google voice typing in SMS works 50% of time - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It seems that voice typing in SMS only works when I am on WiFi. If I have full signal 4G, I can go to an SMS and try to voice type and nothing happens. The Mic just appears with a dotted line around it and it just sits there. Just in case, I downloaded the language pack to allow offline voice recognition.
How can I fix this?
BTW, I am on MIUI, but it didn't work on CNA either.
Thanks!

[Q] Voice Dialer not working (CM7 1.1 thunderbolt)

For some reason, voice dialer does not work on my Thunderbolt. (See title for configuration)..
Just says Try Again.
I never use it so I never noticed but you seem to be correct.
It may be related to the mic problems for video recording (just a guess).
In the meantime, use Google's Voice Search. Does the same as Voice Dialer but works for more than just calls.
Works similar to Voice Dialer in that you just say "Call Doctor" and it calls or brings up a list of possibles.

[Q] Google Voice - AOSP Compatible?

i noticed on Google's website, it shows a google voice call being made over the normal dialpad w/ some Voice splash on the screen.
I am using CM7 and there is no splash visible and no indication if voice is even working. Does anyone else here use it and on a Sense or AOSP ROM?
Works fine on sense. You press one to answer calls made to you on your google voice number and i have it set up to ask me if i want to use google voice when i make my calls or not

Same here I use CM7 which is AOSP

It doesn't matter what you use, sense or aosp, google voice works. You can make voice calls through google voice from your desktop (the screenshot I think you're referring to). On the phone, the google voice application allows you set it to make all calls using google voice.
Here's the caveat. Calls through google voice from your cellphone use the actual cell connection. It first dials the gvoice call center, and then routes to the number you dialed. If the gvoice call center's phone # is in your 'calling circle' or whatever, it's all free minutes.
It sounds more like you want to do VoiP...replacing skype, or fring. Make voice calls over your data connection, am I right? If that's the case, grooveIP has REALLY impressed me. It connects to your google voice account, and makes calls using the same voip interface as the desktop screenshot thingy (calls from the desktop browser).
That, or a complicated set up involving SIPdroid, sipsorcery, gvoice, and a 3rd party SIP service (there's a few free ones).

Bluetooth and voice dialer issue

I am trying to find a solution this this issue that has popped up on tow ROMs that I really like.
On most ROMs when I hit the ear piece to dial out the standard voice dialer app box shows up and asks me what I want to do but on a couple of the ROMs I get a Google box with a red circle asking me to speak now. The issue with that is that it can recognize my voice if I tell it to dial a number but not names from my phonebook. I have to use the voice dialer widget on my home screen to activate standard voice dialer. Anyone know how to disable the Google dialer? Anyone else have this issue? Right now I am using Nocturnals_Xi36*ICS*Sense. Thank you.

[Q] Confused on receiving calls with new Hangouts/Voice.

Very excited about the new Hangouts and Google Voice integration.
I use my Google Voice number as my primary number for calls and text.
1) Now that I have the new Hangouts app, does the Google Voice app provide any use?
2) At home I have poor signal, which is a perfect environment to receive calls to my GVoice number in the Hangouts app. Unfortunately when I check the "Incoming phone calls" option in Hangouts and when I receive calls things get confusing. The Hangouts dialer rings first, which I presume is the call being routed over data to my phone. Then the normal phone dialer rings, which I presume is the call being routed over the cell signal. This normal dialer shows up on top of the Hangouts one. If I want to answer the Hangouts one b/c I know my data signal is more reliable than cellular signal, then I have to slide the normal dialer to "hangup" and then answer the Hangouts one. Is there a way to disable the normal cellular dialer besides putting my phone in airplane mode when I'm home.
Thanks.

[Q] Car Bluetooth voice commands & Google Hangouts & Mate 2 on data only

OK, I received the Mate 2 yesterday and am trying a data plan and Google Hangouts w/ dialer. Works well. I paired bluetooth to my car. Now here is the question: Is there any way to get the bluetooth commands to go to Hangouts dialer versus the phone dialer? I was able to speak fine but have to manually dial and hang up. Probably not, but I would like to be pleasantly surprised.

I see the question now. No I don't think you can initiate a call via Bluetooth in hangouts but on mine I can end a call and answer via a button on my steering wheel or also on my plantronics bluetooth headset.

My car bluetooth will not answer or end a call but I can talk. I just ran up several minutes cause I thought it ended the connection - whoops.

Hangouts doesn't use minutes, it uses data, so you ran up some data. ?

time is money is data. Do you honestly think you had to point that out and that I didn't know the difference?
What I am wondering is why the bluetooth will interface with the regular dialer and not the hangups dialer and if there is a way to point it to the hangups dialer.

I've tried a few things that don't work. Another thing I found out that doesn't work is sending a text from my gwatch. I can respond to texts and hangouts messages from my watch, hangouts is my default texting app, but if I try to send a text, it says it sends but doesn't. Nor does using Google now to send a message. It says no texting app installed. Very confused. Not sure if it's a problem with the phone, the watch, hangouts, Google now. I'll play with it more when I find the time.

If the person on the other end of the call hung up, the call would end.
I've noticed that the proximity sensor doesn't respond in the hangouts dialer like it does in the stock dialer (ie making a call with the phone, finish call, take phone away from ear, screen automatically turns on and shows current call). Hangouts dialer is still pretty new, many minor things can be improved.
Also, the "voice dialer" app that comes stock on the Huawei Ascend Mate2 is only going to work with the stock dialer. I don't know if that is what you are trying to get to work with the hangouts dialer. If you are, it won't work.

The call I made where it didn't hand up was directed to voice mail on their end. Bluetooth "end call" didn't break the connection and it never hung up - It was several minutes later that I noticed it and it showed a connection still.
Yes, I agree that there probably will be improvements made to the hangouts dialer as time goes on. Maybe Googe will do a voice dialer add on. Or maybe a 3rd party voice dialer for hangups will appear.
I also have noticed odd behavior in the hangups app. Sometimes when I dial the person answers and yet it keeps on ringing on my end (called my wife while she was standing next to me).
