On windows 7, open the SD card, click the organize tab on the upper left, select folder and search options, select the view tab, and select the show hidden files option. Should Work for you.

Assuming you're using Windows, go the the Disk Management and repartition it to your liking.
(The best way, IMO, to wipe the card is
Code:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdX
in Linux. That writes zeros to the entire drive.)

Flashing with Micro SD Card

I was trying to update the Wiki with the SD card flashing procedure. I have tried formating both a 2 GB and a 1 GB card with FAT32, and transferring the renamed .nbh file to it. My bootloader doesn't recognize the image file. I have tried multiple formating process on XP; from file manager, from a DOS command prompt, formatting it on the phone, with no success. I don't care about the 1 GB card, I would just like to get it formatted correctly for this purpose.
For those that have flashed your phone with this method, please respond to this thread with the SD card size, sector and cluster size. And I will try and replicate that with my 1 GB card. Hopefully there is a magic set of parameters.
---------------------
Solution from Post #11:
Ok, my Dell Laptop slot/driver was the problem. With some trial and error, I formatted my 1 GB card on a USB driven SD slot on a Vista machine. It took about a minute to format it with FAT32 and the allocation unit size of should be set 1024 (the default size did not work!).
So here are my parameters:
Partition = 1GB
Sector size = 512
Cluster size = 1024
------------------------------------------
Flashing a phone with a micro SD card
Format a microSD card into FAT32 with an allocation unit/cluster size of 1024 (the default size for a 1 GB would not work, also if it takes only a few seconds to format try formating with some other slot/device. A 1 GB took over a minute to format correctly)
Copy the ROM to flash (xxxxxxxx.nbh) to the root of the microSD
Rename the ROM xxxxxxx.nbh to TITAIMG.nbh
Remove card from the PC and insert your card into the phone.
Force into the boot loader with POWER-CAMERA-RESET, release the reset and hold POWER&CAMERA buttons until the tri-colored screen appears
Follow the instructions and you'll quickly flash your Titan...
This will work to flash with an official ROM and radio, I think regardless of the boot loader you have installed. But ensure that you have the correct boot loader (olipro 2.40 for this GPS ROMs) installed for when you do eventually finish with your flashing and are ready to boot into the OS.
Not much help, but I am interested in this also I have tried all of the same methods and can't get mine to recognize the image either.
For documentation sake I have a Kingston 2GB card model#sd-c02g, my card reader in my laptop is Texas Instruments PCIxx12 with driver version 2.0.0.4
just by a card reader none of those programs work wait they do work they format it in 32 but the phone wont pick it up u need to do it on laptop or computer
I haven't had to do this yet, but whenever I'm having issues with partitions and formatting, I always use Gnome Partition Editor: http://gparted.sourceforge.net/
Burn and boot that image, you'll need a card reader - but it should do what you need.
I've always formatted my microSD card in Windows XP with a card reader..
REMEBER FAT32, I know you stated it in your message, but I want to stress it again for whoever reads this in the future...
I then insert the card into the phone and copy the nbh file to the card while it is connected via USB.. I don't know why, I just always have...
Then here comes where I think you are having the problem, I havent tested this but I suspect that it is probably case sensitive.. meaning it must be TITAIMG.nbh....
Also, if you have your windows set to hide file extentions and rename the file to TITAIMG.nbh, you are really renaming the file to TITAIMG.nbh, hbh which of course wont work...
Turn off hide file extentions - Open a File Explore Window - Tools - Folder Options - View Tab - uncheck Hide Fiel Extentions for known types in the white box..
Hope this helps, because flashing from sd card is the only way to go.. I'll never risk flashing via usb ever again and it sooo much faster!
Ok I am retrying this from the top.
1)Put the Sd Card in my card reader
2)Right clicked the drive and selected format
3)Formated with Fat32
4)Copied TITAIMG.NBH to device with USB cable through activesync
5)Booted into bootloader
Results:
Breifly goes to Multicolored bootloader and then breifly flashes Loading Rom, No Image File! Then Returns to multicolored boot loader SPL ver 2.40
Not sure if it matters, but the image filenames in posts #5 and #6 are slightly different...

what do you mean by that? the TITAIMG.nbh file should be placed on the root of the SD card while it is still connected to your PC.
Formating SD card for Flashing
Forgot to mention, I have been trying to format these cards from the SD slot in my DELL D430 Laptop. My troubles may be because of that, I'm just not sure at this point. BTW, the cards do not show up under Disk Management, so that option has not been available to me.
What I was looking for were the key physical parameters of Working SD cards.
How Big? Sector Size? and Cluster Size?
Has someone got a 2 GB or 1 GB card to work?
I did copy it to the device while still connected, that is what I mean by copied with USB cable
SD Card Format
Ok, the Dell Laptop slot/driver was the problem. I got it to work by moving my 1 GB card to one of my HP Vista machines and formating it there. It took about a minute to format it with FAT32 and the allocation unit size of 1024 (the default size did not work!).
So here are my parameters:
Partition = 1GB
Sector size = 512
Cluster size = 1024
Can you guys give me hint how to extract the .nbh file from the Sprint package ?

Two methods that I have used;
first and simplest is the pc program WinRAR.
second, is to execute the package and once it has extracted the contents and the flashing utility pops up, go search your hard disk for .nbh files, in this package the file you are interested in is RUU_signed.nbh. Typically, they would be located in a temp folder, that is erased once the program completes.

Copy it to the microSD card while it is still in the card reader attached to your PC. If you try copying it from the PC to the microSD card in the phone with the USB cable, it will not work correctly.
So after you format it to FAT32 with the card reader, then copy the nbh file to the microSD card while it is still in the reader. Then take it out and put it in the phone and try it.

I've tried it that way as well. perhaps I have driver issues with the card reader like the above.

well i guess i'm a little old school. I have windows XP and used DOS commands to do most of the work. I connected the card reader to the computer, it assigned the drive letter E: to my SD slot. Your computer may assign it another letter, just double click on MY COMPUTER and find out what letter your computer has assigned to your SD slot. Now replace E: with the letter your computer has assigned (ie instead of E: it may be F: )
1.) click START --> RUN --> type (without quotes) "CMD" (hit enter)
a dos prompt window should pop up
2.) type (without the quotes) "Format e: /u /fs:fat32" (hit enter)
hit enter when it asks you to label the volume
3.) you can go back to windows to drag the image file to the newly formatted SD card.
4.) go back into dos and type (without the quotes) "E:" (hit enter)
5.) type (without the quotes) "ren *.nbh TITAIMG.nbh" (hit enter)
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE HAS AT LEAST 50% BATTERY LIFE!!!

I hope people realize that the new SPRINT ROM has both a new RADIO update along with new version of WM6. from my understanding, if you have an older RADIO and try the new WM6 from the new ROM, your phone will NOT work. If you have not updated the RADIO, you may want to flash it w/the old sprint ROM. Regain functionality, then update with the new Sprint ROM using a PC. This will update both your OS and RADIO. I hope this helps.

Not entirely true. The .exe files shipped out in the firmware are self-extracting files that CAN be opened with winRAR or 7zip. Right-click on the .exe and the context menu should include an "Extract with winRAR" or "Extract with 7zip" option.

[Q] Gparted not finding my android phone

I need to repartition my SD card for changing ROM on my HTC Desire. I planned on using GParted for the task, but so far I have failed to get the SD card to show up in GParted. What I have tried so far:
1. Plugging in my phone to my MacBook I can see my device and in Disk Utility both partitions show up (although obviously the ext4 won't mount).
2. Booted GParted in Parallels but the device won't show up
3. ...so I tried booting my mac with it, but still, the device won't show up.
4. Tried booting a PC off GParted. Still no device!
5. Plugging the SD card into a Samsung Galaxy S and tried the above again, still without success.
So problem persists, I cannot get the SD card to show up in GParted! Do you have any idea how to make it work?
Try to use card reader. I'm sure it can detect when you use it. I'm a fans of gparted.

Alright, then I need to rest my restless mind and wait for the holidays to pass so I can get hold of one! Thanks.

When you say it won' t read are you refering to from within the NT? This issue has been discussed and the easiest way is to format the SD from within the NT.
If you hear the ding dong upon inserting and ejecting the SD card fom the nook chances are pretty good you will be able to format it.
I assume you are NOT running CM7 and if you are ignore the above and RUN as fast as you can away from any formating within to NT. LoL
I had this same problem. I couldn't figure out a way to do it in windows so someone else chime in that knows more than me.
What I had to do was put it in a linux machine and using gParted find the menu option to create a new partition table then select msdos for the type. Hope you have a linux machine handy.
Good luck!

This is a sure fire way. I didn't referance it because not many users have access to a Linux machine.
If formating within the NT doesn't work this will for sure!!
No Linux sorrie but yeah didn't think about the nook doing it I'll try and see if not my 16gb is bricked till I can figure something out thanks for the responses

Careful with what Land Master said, If you're running CM7 you'll have troubles. I tried it after I did the new rom and luckily got an error message and didn't brick my device but there have been lots of reports of that happening.
If you have a usb stick lying around you can make a live boot usb with unetbootin. It should have gparted on any distro you choose from the list.
So now I got the card to show on the nook but now it won't show up on the computer so idk what's going on with this sd card I really would hate to get another sd card

The card itself is pefectly fine and you can always run either the live cd for gparted or you can run a live cd of any linux distro and have access to the program. A live cd means the distro runs from the cd and doesnt touch your Hard drive at all so theres zero chance you will mess up your pc. Heres what I would do in your case. I would download and burn one of the millions of linux distros out there and then unplug the Hard drive from the computer so that it doesnt get wiped at all then put the disc in and boot from it then use gparted to correct the sdcard issue.

Unetbootin (referenced above by Binary_Aegis) is a WINDOWS program that is used to make a bootable memory stick. Once done you will boot into the memory stick without the need to "install" Linux on you Windows Hard Drive.
Google it for more information but it was an excellent suggestion!

Everyone has access to a linux machine as long as they own a cd burner or a 2gb usb stick.
Download ubuntu and either burn it to a cd, or make a bootable usb drive (instructions are right there on the ubuntu download page on how to make a bootable usb drive).
Put the drive or cd in the computer, turn computer on, select the first option on the menu. (live boot or whatever) This will boot you into a ubuntu machine capable of running gparted.
To access Gparted from that live desktop, do the following:
1. open a terminal (ctrl+alt+T or ctrl+shift+T I don't remember which offhand)
2. with terminal window open type in: sudo passwd root <press enter>
3. type in a password. something short, reenter it when asked.
4. now type: su<press enter>
5. put in the password you just made.
6. now type" gparted
The Gparted window will open and automatically scan for all connected drives. Figure out which one is your sdcard, make changes, exit.
Restart pc from ubuntu menu and remove cd/usb drive.

I had that issue when I playing around with the Indirect root method for sd card and what not. I lurked around the forums and tried a program called EASEUS Partition Master. From there I could delete the partition and reformatted the whole sd card to fat32 and that restored function to it. Another issue I ran into was that the reader from my NT wasn't picking up the sd card, but luckily my laptop had an sd card reader and that picked it up.

See the problem I'm having now is i got the card working its back to normal but for some odd reason it won't show on the computer ne more. So I'm thinking a driver on the computer for showing the sd is messed up somewhere. So I'm wondering exactly where and how to get to these drivers to uninstal and rehook the nook and put the drivers back on there. So ne insight on this feel free to lmk k thanks

I had the same problem, the problem is that the NT can actually read sd cards better than windows. This happened to me when I reformatted but did not change the type of the partition table. Are you sure you created a new partition table of the msdos type?

Internal Memory and USB transfer

So I guess flashing with CM 10.2 does not alter the built-in folder structure of the NT. I show two categories of "internal storage": about 11.6 GB of "available" space (some of which seems to be taken up by apps and cache) and a second category of a miserly 1 GB. [oh yeah, turns out the "8 GB NT" I got from ebay was actually a 16 GB model. Go figure]
Question: can I rename the "B&N downloads" folder and delete subfolders without messing anything up? If so, can I store files in there (videos, music, epubs, etc.). I'm guessing that the "My Files" folder is actually on the 1 GB partition. Is this correct? Can I likewise customize those folders?
And USB.... As far as I can tell, only MTP works with my Win 8.1 system--and not well. I cannot see any files, just "internal memory" (the 1 GB part). Dragging and dropping gives a "can't copy because the device has stopped" or similar, but the file does seem to transfer. You just can't see it on the computer. Using the "Send to" shell command gives a similar result. If I change the USB setting to "mass storage" and turn on USB debugging, I get the little system tray icon for a connected USB device on my PC, but the Nook is not listed there and nothing shows up in the explorer file directory.
So....is this as good as it gets for transferring via USB? I can always pop out the SD card (who thought up that compartment behind the half-ring ), put it in my PC, copy the files and then put the card back in the Nook and use File Manager to move things around. Ugh.
Is there a better way? Maybe the WiFi Transfer app (I use that on my Nook ST).
When that happens to me a reboot of the tablet usually fixes it. Alternately CM 11 / 4.4.2 ROMs usually eliminate that issue entirely.
Also, if you search the nook tablet forums, there is a way to repartition the device so you have 1Gb internal and the 11.6Gb for installing apps, files, etc. I did that to my nook tablet couple years ago and it's worked swimmingly.

Can't install on Windows 10 Tablet iBall Slide i701

I have an iBall Slide i701 running Windows 10. So, I wanted to try RemixOS on my tablet after seeing a thread on some site. So, I downloaded the zip and tried to use the USB option but my USB was not detected at all. I tried everything like formatting the pendrive to different formats, but still no luck. Then, I tried the Hard Disk installation, but here's the problem. My tablet has 16GB of internal storage of which right now about 7GB is free (which isn't enough to repartition). But, I do have a 16GB SD Card on the tablet but it's being shown as Secure SD Storage and I am unable to create a normal bootable partition with the SD Card. So, when I try the hard disk installation option, the SD Card doesn't show up among the hard drives, instead it shows among USB. Anyways, I tried USB installation to the SD Card, but it won't boot into the USB though I have set UEFI as boot option #1 and disabled secure boot.
Please help me out!
Well i have tried everything from booting linux to win7 win 8.1 installers with and without efi installers it just doesn't boot from any flash drive. There is a lock in the bios on boot option that forces it to boot from internal and yes i also tried via its sd slot, the prob is the sd card can only be accessed after it boots up, so thats a bummer,

hello, ive had similar problems with the iball marvel 6 and ive contacted iball for it and they sent me this email
With reference to your below mail, iBall compbook Marvel 6 comes with pre-installed OS 64 bit Windows 10 Home Ver. Customer cannot Upgrade or downgrade the OS through online or with any other external devices. Compbook works on tablet technology it will not support any other OS except the OS which is preinstalled in it, therefore there is no any separate drivers available for that..
i dont know if this is similar to yours but your slide also works on tablet technology so it might be the crux of the problem.
It is possible to load from USB
I had the same problem with my iball i701, during win10 upgrade it went into blank screen of death. Heres what i did.
0. Make efi shell as first boot in bios.
1. Go into efi shell, type map. It lists the drives, usb is not listed.
2. Unplug usb, type map -r
3. Plug in usb drive (my usb was win10 efi bootable drive), type map -r
4. Voila now the last entry is usb drive.
5. Type reset, press esc to go into bios. Usb is now listed in boot options.
Done.
