Bro, you saved my life. It did the trick, tomorrow will hit thanx for sure.
Questions:
1. How to verify i have unlocked bootloader?
2. Now having the stock ICS rom, what CWM to install so i can flash CM9?
Thanx
Just use the CWM kernel found in the Sola forum. That shouldn't be a problem as all you need is an ICS kernel (Not a GB).
You could have just flashed the CWM kernel if you had fastboot and mount SD in CWM
As for whether bootloader is unlocked, I recall if fastboot can see your device, it should be unlocked (fastboot device command or something)
glad it worked enjoy modding your phone :good:
To know if your bootloader is unlocked or not, you need to go to the folder where fastboot.exe is present and then Open Command Prompt in that folder and type the following command:
Code:
fastboot getvar secure
Turn off your phone and press and hold the Volume Down button when you are connecting the USB.
You can let go of the Volume Down button once the fastboot finds your device.

How to Install Doomlord’s ClockworkMod Recovery on Xperia S
Download the Doomlord CWM Recovery image (download link here) and the Wi Fi Module for Doom Kernel (download link here) and place the same to the computer.
Go and rename the “S-DooMKernel-v01_kernel.elf” file into “kernel.elf”.
Copy the file renamed on the same folder with ADB / fastboot.
Take your phone and its USB cord and by using both connect it with the computer.
Copy-paste the “S-DooMKernel-v01-Modules.zip” file from the PC to the Xperia S SD card.
Disconnect the smartphone from the computer.
Reboot it by entering in fastboot; press the Volume Up button while connecting the phone with the PC.
On the computer open command prompt (Start -> run -> cmd) and enter the command: fastboot flash boot kernel.elf. If this isn’t working try with: fastboot -i 0x0fce flash boot kernel.elf.
The handset should reboot.
When you see the light turn blue hold the Voluem Up button. The Xperia S will enter in recovery mode.
In the recovery menu select “install zip from sd card” and pick the file copied there on step 3.
The installation procedure should begin. Don’t press anything as the process might take up to 10 minutes to complete.
In the end, from the recovery mode menu select “reboot system now” and you are done.
There you have it; that was the easiest and fastest way in which you can learn how to install Doomlord’s ClockworkMod Recovery on your Xperia S smartphone. Do tell us if there were problems on your way, of if you had issues in understanding one of my directions. Now you can go and update your Xperia S with the lasts ROMs available. Take a look and see if the Cyanogen Mod 9 Ice Cream Sandwich ROM is what you are looking for.
Waiting for someone else to confirm this method. You should post it on General or maybe Dev section, to attract more attention.

How can i root the device? what is the easiest and best way to root it.
Do u want to use custom ROM or stock ROM?? If its an stock rom then search threads and look for Advanced Stock Kernel ( Depending on ICS or GB whichever u want to flash) . Then just follow these steps after flashing as i was advised which worked flawlessly
If you just want to root your stock , here is what i would do:
- download the advanced stock kernel (GB/ICS) by DooMLord
- connect the phone to pc via fastboot mode (i.e turn off and then connect the phone to pc via usb with vol. up key pressed)
- flash the advanced stock kernel using fastboot command. Just extract and copy the kernel.elf file from fastbootbinaries, save it in the fastboot installation folder.
- switch on the phone an wait for some time
- Again, switch off and go to fastboot or flashmode.
- then with 7zip extract kernel.sin from the stock ftf (Right click >Open Archive>Choose kernel.sin>Extract) and flash it using flashtool or fastboot command.
- Restart Your Phone and Valah!
If you follow these steps, then you should have a stock firmware with full root acess! good luck :good:!
P.S : YES u have to flash kernel two times. One from Doomkernel or Advanced Kernel (same) and then again with the original kernel.sin

Did you get blue light when you flash with fastboot, if the blue light doesn't turn on, then it means you are not in fastboot mode.
I have sony ericsson neo v on 4.0.4 build 4.1.b.0.431 with unlocked bootloader (by official method), rooted, and CWM installed by X-part. I believe the cause is that I did not format /system (in mounts and storage), format /cache, and format /Data.
I am unable to access CWM. Could anyone able to access CWM and then re-flash the Pureness by CWM, or I have to flash with FlashTool to install the original Stock ICS. Then start all over again??!!
I have not done any FlashTool before. Any guideline??
Many thanks!!!
Did you first install the kernel as advised?
If not, then flash the kernel through fastboot and then boot into CWM.

I actually flash the follow the installation as follow but apparently omit step 4-6 below:
1.Factory reset in cwm
2.wipe cache partition
3.wipe dalvik cache
4.Format /system (in mounts and storage)
5.Format /cache
6.Format /Data
7.Install Xperia_Ice_Cream_Pureness_build_10.00.zip
8.Install patch for your phone model
9.Reboot now and you are done !
I did not 'first install the kernal as advised'??
Is this a fix, and could you tell me more how exactly fastboot and flash the kernal as you suggest??
Thanks!!!

Few more queries to clarify:
1. '......In the folder where fast boot is present in your pc hold': pc stands for PC Companion??
2. Do I need to download boot.img?? If so, please forward me the link??
3. After flashing the boot.img, is it just lead to fixing the CWM??
4. After fixing the CWM, should I simply follow the steps again on flashing the Pureness ROM, or I must flash the 'alliance kernel' first??
5. Please forward me the link for 'alliance kernel'.
Many thanks!!!
As for your questions,
1. PC here means your computer.. And the folder means that folder where you have kept your fastboot files!
2 & 5. Here's the link of the alliance kernel that you need to flash..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566871
Copy this .img kernel into the fastboot folder, and rename it to boot.img
Holding the shift key, right click and you get an option to open the command window..
In fastboot mode, holding the menu key while inserting the usb cable.. Type the following in the cmd..
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Now turn your phone on.. Boot into CWM by pressing the volume down button.. Install the ROM from CWM!

Fastboot refers to unlocked bootloader as root.
Have you unlocked your bootloader?
You will know if you have done it! If you are unsure then you have not unlocked it, therefore, you cannot flash custom kernels so you need to either:
1. Use custom roms that are for LOCKED bootloader, or
2. Unlock your bootloader. To do this check the sticky threads in the DEV section

You cannot conect in fastboot with a locked bootloader.
Also, it seems daft that you are using 2 threads to discuss this problem.
My final bit of advice.
Download flashtool (its in the sticky threads in the dev section)
Download a stock .ftf (Found in the sticky threads in the dev section)
Flash the .ftf using flashtool when connected in flash mode (Not fastboot mode) You enter flashmode by pressing back button, not the enu button when connecting.
Once you have done that the phone should boot up with stock rom. Then you can use flashtool to install a recovery and install the pureness rom properly.

FOR 2011 XPERIA Phones [LwW/Mini/Mini Pro/Active]
Below i am mentioning the steps to how to install a custom ROM (Real ICS,Serenity, HyperbeamCream etc.) i think it may be helpful.
First of all u should unlock the bootloder for installing custom ROM's (not for all ROM's)
For unlocking the boot loader for Xperia 2011 series phone u should get the unlocking code from the sony mobile site ( http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/ ) follow this link and get the unlocking bootloder code.
For unlocking the boot loder Download the "fastboot" drivers from here. Install them accordingly.
Turn off your phone. Wait for 30 seconds. Connect your phone to the PC while keeping the volume up key pressed. Your phone's LED will lit blue (indicating fastboot mode).
Head over to the location where you kept the previously unzipped fastboot folder. Right click while keeping pressed the SHIFT key on the folder and select "Open command prompt here"
Type fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version to ensure your have entered bootloader mode (you will get version on java example, 0.3)
Type fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY (replace KEY with unlock code you got from Sony's website earlier)

First you need to unlock the bootloader to flash the custom kernel. Follow for example the guide in the stickies in general forum
And just check out development section for custom roms for locked bootloader, then try some and find your personal best rom/kernel. We are not allowed to answer that question

Any custom kernel (boot.img) has cwm or TWRP recovery preinstalled. Just check the development section, but remember that you can just flash a kernel working for your android version (2.3 gingerbread, 4.0 ice cream sandwich, 4.1/4.2 jelly bean)

You can try this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1879750
I found many people stuck on how to unlock a boot loader so this is a quick guide on how to unlock a boot loader for Xperia P
Please note that you may void the warranty of your device
i am not responsible if you brick your phone or anything like that
First, you should confirm that it is possible to unlock the boot loader of your device by checking the service menu. In your device, open the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu go to Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.
Download and install the latest Android SDK from http://developer.android.com/index.html
Unzip the android sdk open sdk manager and under tools section you will find usb driver download that.
Download and unzip this file http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/fastboot-driver/
Place the unzipped file in the Android SDK > extras > google>usb_driver folder on your computer
now go to http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/unlock/step2?token=cc968676d7f37bb813c9a50af95fb6cf where it will ask that are you sure click yes, i'm sure and then you will be directed to a page where you accept the legal terms and conditions and click i accept in next page write your name and a valid email address and IMEI number. to get IMEI number open phone application in your phone and type *#06# there you will get a 15 digit IMEI number but you will need a 14 digit IMEI number to place in the above page for that you will omit the right most digit of that 15 digit IMEI number after that click submit now you will get an email like the one shown .
{

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Turn off your device.
open control panel On your computer and open device manager, push and hold the volume down button at the same time as you connect the device to the computer with a USB-cable. now you will see s1 boot found with a yellow triangle right click over it and click update driver and then point it to the file u downloaded above (the one you placed in Android SDK > extras > google>usb_driver folder ) and select Android Boot loader Interface-file once you get android device in control panel lets proceed further
go to androidsdk\platform-tools\ (make sure you have fastboot.exe file here if not try downloading Android sdk platform tool from sdk manager) and open command prompt here by making sure that no file is selected and pressing shift key and then click right mouse button there you will see open command prompt here click it
Enter fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version, and verify that you get a response back (for example "0.3" or "0.5"). This means your device is connected properly.
enter fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY where KEY is the unlock boot loader key you got via Email as shown in the attachment shown above
so like for my key the code will be
fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0x9FF5866B6621D91E use your own key not mine if you use mine it will not unlock your boot loader
Congrats your bootloader is unlocked now
after unlocking if you need to root your phone then just visit this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2335992 this is the easiest way to root your phone and with no problem at all. Thanks to DoomLord for this easy rooting kit
