I have chosen to use the PIN method to secure my S3, but now I don't get a preview of any SMS messages I receive.
Is there a way to enable this?
Thanks.

Oh well, bit irritating tbh, but if it's designed like that then so be it.
Thanks.

How does the pattern unlock or pin unlock work with Sense 3.0's lockscreen? I wasn't able to find any video on it or anything. Thanks for the help ahead of time!

EDIT: Although xda forums search gave no results, google eventually spit something up. I guess if anyone wants to know:

Yes. They did incorporate it and it works fine. Although I don't like the fact that if you have one set and get a text or something, it still shows on the actual lockscreen :/

Do you mean the indicator for number of messages? Or a popup? Have you tried turning off the "received notification" under settings?

as far as i know there is not way to disable that without disabling the messaging app notifications all together...
There has to be because prior to rooting I had it set up to only put a notification in the notification bar.

Is there a fix to this if you use the stock message app?
Potential Workaround
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747794
I have posted a potential workaround for those that dont mind installing SMS Popup from the play store. It works in conjunction with the stock messaging app.
This is the 10th one of these threads. Where are the mods?
There's no fix for this. We all hate it...
My phone must be broken as a text does not "wake-up" the screen. However I would like to know if its possible to wake up the phone with S-voice even if the screen is off ? I can't seem to make it work -
Hello everyone,
Is there any way to see the popup before unlocking but without the screen going on? In other words, I do not want the lockscreen to be on after I send my SMS reply. Just a black screen. I have tried Go SMS and Handscent.
Thanks

What? You mean like the notifications going on the lock screen without lighting up the screen?

What I mean is, after my popup comes up and I send my reply, the lockscreen is there. Is there a way not to light up the lockscreen?
I believe chomp sms has something close to this with some configuration.

I use the stock sms with an app called SMS Popup. It works awesome. It's very customizable. Give it a shot, I think you'll like it.

But the thing with SMS popup is that it gives you multiple popups of the same message
If anyone is still looking for a reliable popup app...try Glowfly. I know its a weird name but trust me its a good app. So far...no multiple popups and better than SMS popup
Searched the q&a thread going a few similar posts but nothing exactly like this.
Had anyone found a way with the stock text notifications to display the contacts name who is texting you rather than receive a message saying “new message" every time?
There has to be a fix for this...
Thanks in advance

I believe going into "messaging" then the menu button>settings>notification settings group and turn on the "preview messages" option, should do what you wanted

You can also use the multi page lock screens that are part of 4.2 and add a communications widget or stock messaging
Widget.

Right. But that isn't what the OP wants. Although I'm sure someone much smarter than me who develops these ROMs will add the requested feature as on option.
