Hello.
First, sorry for my English. I hope you understand what I mean.
I wanted to install a custom rom. So I unlocked my Prime and get root.
I`ve installed the TWRP Recovery. As I wanted to flash came this message:
"assert failed: getprob("ro.product.device") =="tf201"
getprob("ro.build.product") =="tf201"
E:Error in /sdcard/baked_tf201_blackbean-6.zip
(Status 7)
After I searched some forums, I found that you have to install CWM.
I have done...
And now nothing works.
When I start it, there is only in the top left site "Your device is unlocked" and in the middle the white ASUS font.
I can not get into the recovery. The volume down method dont work. There is also the ASUS font.
I hope someone can help me with a good idea.
i think you if your tablet is rooted, you can install the recovery via CWM
then you can reboot into recovery
i remember there is a way if you aren't rooted but not too sure what it is~~
Thanks for your answer.
How should I install the CWM?
I have no contact from Windows to my prime. I can not push vol. down to come into the fastboot...
When I try to connect over adb shell, he tells me that he find no devices...
There is still the ASUS Font, not more.
If there a solution, please tell me how.
you can trying installing
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...yLDEsImNvbS5rb3VzaGlrZHV0dGEucm9tbWFuYWdlciJd
this might help and you should be able to install the recoevery via the app so long as your tab is rooted
*I'm not 100% sure this is the correct way as i have not unlocked my prime yet, if your prime becomes a brick, i hold no responsibility for it becoming a brick~~*
I think you misunderstood me...
My Prime starts neither Rom or the Recovery...
When I start the prime it happened nothing exept the white ASUS font is still in the middle...
No Boot No Recovery!!! NOTHING
But thanks for your help

Going to make a few assumptions since you haven't given a lot of detail. You probably came from ics since just unlocked. You most likely tried to install the latest twrp ( this is meant to be used with JB bootloader) now you have cwm installed but can't get to recovery. I didn't see where you have downloaded universal naked driivers so I would suggest you start with that first. That is why your pc doesn't find the tf201. Do some reading on adb and how to use it, you can find some good reading in the twrp thread.
Once you have adb and fastboot, what I would suggest is find a copy of twrp 2.2 (meant for the ics bootloader) This will need to be installed in fastboot mode. I know it is in one of the threads, look for my posts because I did attach it here for another person. Once you have twrp running, I would suggest installing androwook's hairybean, this will get you the jb bootloader.
Always always always read the OP and follow the instructions exactly.... no short cuts... when using fastboot or adb, copy the commands, (control +c) then right click in the command window and paste, this will stop you from making typing mistakes.......
Hi.
How do I do that?
When I had jelly bean I have it unlocked...
I`ve installed the TWRP Recovery, thats right.
Then I wanted to install cwm
After the reboot was no more
I can not get to the fastboot mode with the prime.
Whatever I try and press there is only the ASUS font.
If your method would go please tell my how
I could cry my
Had I known this I would have never done anything

Do you have fastboot.exe and adb.exe on your pc? If not download android sdk...
First are you doing this?
You can do this by rebooting the device and holding the volume down key until “Checking for RCK image” appears, at this stage do nothing until the boot menu loads. Once you are at the boot menu press the volume down key until the fastboot/usb icon is selected then press the volume up key to put the device into fastboot mode.
If you can get there, then you should install twrp, since you said you were on JB then you can use the latest version...
As per the instructions put your prime in fastboot mode...
to you start a command prompt, open the fastboot directory where adb.exe is. Press and hold shift while right clicking in the window, select open command prompt here
When the instructions say to enter a command, highlight it on the webpage and copy then in your command window right click and paste (control V does not work here)
First I want to thank you for your trouble

Unfortunately, I can do nothing on Prime
I said that I can not get into the fast boot menu on my prime...
When I would go to the boot menu, it would be easy!
But unfortunately nothing is happening no matter what I press a key combination for.
I think I'll have to send reperatur at ASUS...
They will repair it to install a new motherbord and I must pay approximately 300€
What you learn from them???
If you have no idea about something let it rather be
Thanks again for all the trouble

Hey Guys, could sure use your help... i updated my 10.1 le yesterday and that went thru fine. Later on i was playing and watching youtube and it sent my tablet into a boot loop and i cant seem to fix it. any help would be appreciated thanks in advance.
Mine did the same thing when i was streaming music. Not even Odin brought it back. I used adb to reboot into stock 3e recovery and wipe data/factory reset it, then used Odin to grt back to 3.0.1. Then i just redownloaded the 3.1 update. Hope that helps

right now im having problems with adb listing the devices. adb is installed. it keeps saying that i need some APX drivers???
Drivers are here:
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/GT-P7510UWYXAR
I had the same problem. This is what i did. Since I had already rooted my tablet, I already had in my laptop ADB and the driver for the tablet. If you don't have these 2 things, I suggest you go to the development section of this forum, look for the insrltructions on how to root, and download what you need.
I connected my tablet then went into cmd mode (DOS MODE), then typed adb reboot recovery. From there the tablet rebooted into recovery. I then wiped data and cache. Then I rebooted and it went fine, no more bootloop. In settings I noticed that it had reverted back to 3.0.1 so I just did update again. Since then my tablet has been smooth as butter.

For those not too comfortable with ADB, I just installed PDAnet (for the fastboot drivers) and after booting to fastboot (holding power and the volume down button and selecting the USB symbol) I used the "fastboot -w" command in CMD.exe to wipe the device.
Its rather strange that a lot of people are having problems. Mine started after getting an error turning on the WIFI chip. Thank god for Titanium Backup's option to sync with Dropbox. Hope this helps.

THANK YOU!! Your suggestion of installing PDAnet saved me! I was having a hell of a time trying to get the right drivers so my computer would recognize the tablet has an adb device. After installing PDAnet, it was a cinch. Then I reflashed everything, wiped userdata and cache, and rebooted (I followed the instructions found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14600617&postcount=111) Now my tab is working again and I was getting ready to ship it off to Samsung so they could re-flash it for me.

Obviously I have installed adroid-sdk and download fastboot from HTC page.
I'm one of the lucky ones who has had their I/O tab stuck in a boot loop on 3.1, and after trying the steps below, I am not getting it to work. I know I must be making a stupid mistake somewhere along the line, but essentially,
I downloaded the new image, boot, and recovery files into a directory on my hard drive;
I installed PDAnet;
I entered into fastboot on my GTab and plugged it into my PC;
I can tell that fastboot is now listed as a device (I suspect this means that the drivers are installed correctly and that it is recognizing a fastboot device);
Now when I try to run the fastboot commands suggested, I get 'fastboot' is not recognized as an internal or external command...
Stupid question, but I am supposed to run this command from cmd.exe, right? Any ideas what I am doing wrong so that the fastboot commands are not recognizable? I may need a dumbed down instruction set if there are steps I am missing somewhere...

Edit:
After trying just about everything, I have concluded there are two hurdles I still cannot pass. First, if I fastboot my device, and select the USB icon, my device is appearing in my windows device list. However, I cannot run any fastboot commands in cmd.exe window. Not sure why or what else is needed. Second, I successfully installed SDK and tried to enter recovery mode through ADB, but I cannot find the magic trick to have my device appear in ADB. ODINing back to stock did not make a difference. If I can get past either of these hurdles I am confident I can progress, so any suggestions are appreciated.

Which makes me wonder if I am doing something wrong. I can't even get fastbook command to be recognized. It's as if there is some fastboot software needed so that my pc knows what to do when I type fastboot. I hoped SDK was enough, took a stab with a fastboot.exe from htc I found on another forum, neither worked. How did you get your pc to look for your device from fastboot in the first place?

Hi .. I have the same problems before
I found out that the new ADB has moved the directory to "platform-tools"
This renders the fastboot useless "winapiadb.dll"(or something) file not found pop up window
I got that ridiculous bootloop issue right in the middle of the flight! thought I bought a $$$ junk lol
use the fastboot -w option to recover .. but it resets the whole tablet back to OE (original everything)
Hey guys,
So I have one of the Limited Edition Google IO Galaxy Tab 10.1's and I can't find a more updated thread than this. It seems this problem is isolated or mostly isolated to the Limited Edition tabs?
Anyways, I've read through the thread (as well as many other resources) and I just don't understand what I'm supposed to do to defeat the boot loop problem.
For me, pressing the Power and Volume up button (or Power and Volume down button) doesn't do a thing. The tablet does not respond at all. The only thing other than the boot loop is that I can get it into "upload mode" whatever that is.
This thread doesn't mention upload mode, so I don't know how to proceed. I can't seem to find anything in the manual about this sort of hard reset, nor can I find any information anywhere else.
Also, I've read this thread, and I do not have any familiarity with what the following software projects are: Odin, PDAnet, and APX Drivers. I also have not used the android SDK.
Also, in the third post chris eckman posted a link to some sort of Galaxy Tab drivers on samsung's site, which is now a broken link.
Anyways, while I'm a noob to the XDA community, I am a computer engineer, and I'm confident I won't have any trouble recovering this device. There's just so much conflicting information and alternatives methods that I'm not sure how to proceed.
It seems like a tutorial might exist out there that I have not yet found?
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Ok, well if you are running a "stock" IO bootloader, then you should have fastboot and download modes accessible to you by using the volume down and power button combo.
Have you ever gotten to this menu before? If not, then you just aren't doing it right. Let go of the power button part of this combo once the samsung logo appears, and then you should see two icons appear. If you have an IO bootloader, then you are going to go into fastboot mode, and then use fastboot to get your recovery booted. Once you get CWM booted, you can flash a stock ROM, load up stock recovery and wipe this sucker back to factory, and then fastboot your CWM recovery and install Task650's latest rom and be bootloop free. Let me know if you need further help.
Alright, first things first. Yes, this tablet is 100% stock, and I've done one major Android update, but it was not the one that broke everyone's wireless.
----------
So going step by step:
you should have fastboot and download modes accessible to you by using the volume down and power button combo. Have you ever gotten to this menu before?
So, I did once get to what I believe was the "fastboot" menu. I had four options available to me, the first one was something like "repair boot process" which I selected, because I was having a boot problem. It did nothing, and now I cannot get back to that menu.
I did get to the USB upload screen once by accident, when I was trying to get back to the boot menu, but not knowing what to do at that point. I had to shut it off.
Let go of the power button part of this combo once the samsung logo appears, and then you should see two icons appear.
Which Samsung logo? If I press both the power button and volume up or down, I get nothing. Nothing happens. If I press the power button first and then two seconds later start holding down the volume button, then eventually I get the blue swirly samsung screen. At the end of that, the samsung logo is clear. But waiting a bit longer, after about 30 seconds of blank screen, a pulsing white Samsung logo comes up, and I've never known which samsung logo to stop holding the power button. I believe I've tried every combination imaginable, and none of them work.
If you have an IO bootloader Do you mean Google I/O Stock bootloader? If not, I have no idea what this is in reference to.
Once you get CWM booted No idea what that is.
you can flash a stock ROM Where do I get that?
-------------
My bootloop might be different from everyone else's. Everyone else says "shut off the device, and then turn it on with the volume down/up held down. The problem with mine is that it NEVER shuts off! So, I can only do about 2 tests per day, because the only way I can shut it off is to let the battery run dead.
Mine switches from boot loop, and if I force that off, by holding down the power button for 10-15 seconds, then it immediately boots back up into "going into upload mode, cause unknown" If I force that screen off, it boots into the boot loop, so I can never boot from a "powered off" mode, again, unless I let the battery run dead.
I've tried every button pressing boot sequence I can think of with no luck. Can't I just upload something to the device in "upload mode" ? I don't need any data off this device, I just want it to be reset back to day 1, so that I can turn it on and use it.
Thanks so much for your help. As you might imagine, this is a very frustrating problem.

Hello,
about 2 hours ago I decided that I would unlock my device (before that I read maximum informations that I could). Unlocking went fine and I also installed TWRP 2.1.3 (through ViperMod). So far so good.
Then I made backup in TWRP in case something goes wrong. I was going to try AOKP v40 so I downloaded it via goo manager and then I flashed it in TWRP Install option (and also installed gapps) and wiped cache. Device rebooted and I was stuck at AOKP boot animation for about 15 minutes when I decided to recover back. So I rebooted, restored and rebooted.
Now I'm stuck at first boot logo (eee pad). When I try to do VolDown+Power to get into recovery it doesn't ask for VolUp, but goes straight to selection of Wipe or USB. When I select fastboot or wait 10 secs device frozes. (I haven't tried wipe, just in case it would be needed to unbrick).
I read thread about unbricking (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514088) and to me it seems like option 3, but I don't see recovery option.
In device manager I have 'ASUS Fastboot Interface'.
Here's video how it looks like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BGd1PIVbn8
Please please could anyone help me?
Btw: Is there any chance to shut down? Holding power button just resets, so does pinhole... :/

Shouldn't it be volume and power down to get to the option to press volume up for recovery?
Are you familiar with fastboot flashing recoveries? Either way that will be helpful info for us to have.
Most important thing, this is no big deal at all, it's really a minor issue. Don't let yourself get stressed out over it, the community will make sure you're good to go.

You say you dont see the VOL_UP message. From the video it looks like it is there. You just did not press it within 5 seconds.
Once it comes up, let go of the buttons ;p

nope it's not there. I was holding voldown from the start and as soon as it should say 'press volup for recovery' (time 0:04) it jumps (skips 5 seconds of waiting) directly to wipe/fastboot options (wipe is one that is selected on video)

I'm trying to update from an ICS bootloader to a JB one, however when I try to go through the process of starting up in the Fastboot mode, as soon as I hit the Vol Up key, it just sits there with the text saying it is starting the Fastboot mode. I let it sit for a while to see if it was going to do something, but it doesn't. The computer doesn't recognize it at all with it stuck at this screen, and I assume there is supposed to be some sort of new view that comes up. I haven't done anything previously on my Prime other than unlocking it, which was a while ago, but I didn't do anything past that, so I'm not sure what could be going on, it is not bricked and works completely fine other than not being able to get into the fastboot mode. Anyone have any idea what may be wrong?

That is how fastboot works. If you look in device manager on your PC you may see it near the top of the devices. you may need to install the drivers. the universal naked drivers in the development section should work if your pc is looking for drivers for the device
Okay, thanks, it was working the whole time then.
My problem now is, I've been trying to initiate the install of both the JB bootloader and Hairybean TWRP Updater (normal), but no matter what I seem to do, I can't seem to get it to be installed. When I go into the recovery screen, it only shows the wipe data, fastboot, and load android, there's nothing to get into TWRP.

Hold vol down+power and when it vibrates, let go of power. As soon as the screen shows something press volume up, that will start recovery.

Sorry, I neglected to mention I actually have been doing all of my work based on these very instructions from the androwook page, and it is where I ran into this issue in the first place. I see now based on the skaforey's post that pressing volume up should be the way into recovery, however as I stated to him, it simply resets the device. After restarting with the power + voldown button, let go, and hit volume up (press vol up in 5 seconds to enter RCK), it waits a second, then restarts.
Update before I even bothered to submit this last section: I installed CWM via fastboot, which then enabled me to actually enter a recovery, which then let me install the JB bootloader update and thusly HairyBean. Thanks for all your guys help.
Hi first of all just want to thanks for this forum though I know it's wrong forum I think but I can't post under Android Development. Anyway thanks again for this forum again, I was able to root my Xperia P because of this site. Just want to clarify and ask some things about this one:
-In my first attempt rooting my phone, I experienced that my phone display is not normal like it's blurry. Anyone experienced that? Then I re-root my phone again but this time I chose Superuser, in my first attempt I chose SuperSU. After that, everything went fine, display is now okay then I download and installed SuperSU (granting permission with Superuser). Having those two at the same time is okay? Though I really don't know what are these two are for.
-Then after that, I proceed in CWM Recovery. At first I'm having trouble with accessing the recovery then finally I was able to access it. Then as per guide, I chose "Backup" then I just wait after that the Backup Completed then I'm just curious what is "Choose Backup Format" so I click it then it freeze. Anyone experienced freezing in CWM Recovery? And what is "Choose Backup Format"? And fortunately, I was able to reset my phone by pressing "Volume Up + Power Button". I saw it here too in this forum, to quote:

Do you have cwm installed ? If not you can try: phone powered down , hold vol+ home + power, should bring up message saying something about service center..
Code:
adb shell
su

Thanks for the reply. I didn't read about CWM before this happened, otherwise this would be easy. I've held down every button combination at boot that I can think of and get nothing like that. When holding vol- + home + power I get an Android and a progress bar that causes the phone to reboot after no more than 10 seconds. Nothing shows up in the device manager during that time either.

Well crap. Well it's still not booting..
I can get into fastboot through omap4boot. If I can get a cwm recovery img for my device I should be able to fix it.

fastboot + cwm recovery only works if you've unlocked bootloader
easiest way to restore your phone now is by s/w mode ,either lg tool or offline method
or "vol+ and home and power" and the rest from 2nd post in this thread

All you have to PRESS is volume down, nothing else.Merely press it because if you hold it down, it won't boot into recovery

I had cwm before i unlocked boot loader...install with 9 installer.apk and choose test version (stable version won't boot)..plus if you have a CWM backup( they r also in the forums as well) adb restore is 50 times faster than using LG Update tool.

But I don't have any ADB and can't boot into the ROM, I'll just use the LG Update tool. I have a thread detailing what working modifications I did and how I did it, so I can get all those working. Thanks guys.

Wh. I you see flashing LEDs..no flashing LEDs means no CWM if you don't have it( it comes and goes sometimes FM) try pushing recovery.IMG thru adb

there are two types of cwm recovery, one uses 2nd boot and other recovery partition , if bootloader is locked and phone won't boot you can't use neither and cwm backups are useless

As a young developer I HIGHLY recommend becoming very familiar with ADB, it saved a BUNCH of times on my Galaxy S...its great if you can get the hang of it, all commands are the same for all devices, the help section is sort of sketchy, but with a lot of trial and error, I picked it up nicely

Yes, I know how useful ADB is and use it frequently, but in my phone's state it's not starting and won't ever start.

The best thing to do (if you haven't done so already) is to flash the kdz (thanks cmahendra and everyone else for y'all hard work) and start from scratch. Second, install artas182x (thanks Artas!) cwm and make a backup. I had to learn the hard way too

Yeah, I've now done that. Thanks for the tip though.

To the OP i am currently in the same boat as far as not being able to boot and not being able to access adb. Have you figured anything out or are you still stuck? Before chimes in I do have CWM( the lights flash on reboot) but when i press the -vol button the phone does nothing.
Try connecting in s/w upgrade mode ( holding vol + while inserting usb to phone) it should load some drivers and you should be able to connect in adb. If not connect in every mode possible, to load any drivers(they will still load even though your phone isn't showing any signs of life as long as you have the installed LG drivers previously)
