I'm trying to update from an ICS bootloader to a JB one, however when I try to go through the process of starting up in the Fastboot mode, as soon as I hit the Vol Up key, it just sits there with the text saying it is starting the Fastboot mode. I let it sit for a while to see if it was going to do something, but it doesn't. The computer doesn't recognize it at all with it stuck at this screen, and I assume there is supposed to be some sort of new view that comes up. I haven't done anything previously on my Prime other than unlocking it, which was a while ago, but I didn't do anything past that, so I'm not sure what could be going on, it is not bricked and works completely fine other than not being able to get into the fastboot mode. Anyone have any idea what may be wrong?

That is how fastboot works. If you look in device manager on your PC you may see it near the top of the devices. you may need to install the drivers. the universal naked drivers in the development section should work if your pc is looking for drivers for the device
Okay, thanks, it was working the whole time then.
My problem now is, I've been trying to initiate the install of both the JB bootloader and Hairybean TWRP Updater (normal), but no matter what I seem to do, I can't seem to get it to be installed. When I go into the recovery screen, it only shows the wipe data, fastboot, and load android, there's nothing to get into TWRP.

Hold vol down+power and when it vibrates, let go of power. As soon as the screen shows something press volume up, that will start recovery.

Okay, I did that too, but it just resets the device and if I do nothing it loads into Android.

Sorry, I neglected to mention I actually have been doing all of my work based on these very instructions from the androwook page, and it is where I ran into this issue in the first place. I see now based on the skaforey's post that pressing volume up should be the way into recovery, however as I stated to him, it simply resets the device. After restarting with the power + voldown button, let go, and hit volume up (press vol up in 5 seconds to enter RCK), it waits a second, then restarts.
Update before I even bothered to submit this last section: I installed CWM via fastboot, which then enabled me to actually enter a recovery, which then let me install the JB bootloader update and thusly HairyBean. Thanks for all your guys help.

Hello,
about 2 hours ago I decided that I would unlock my device (before that I read maximum informations that I could). Unlocking went fine and I also installed TWRP 2.1.3 (through ViperMod). So far so good.
Then I made backup in TWRP in case something goes wrong. I was going to try AOKP v40 so I downloaded it via goo manager and then I flashed it in TWRP Install option (and also installed gapps) and wiped cache. Device rebooted and I was stuck at AOKP boot animation for about 15 minutes when I decided to recover back. So I rebooted, restored and rebooted.
Now I'm stuck at first boot logo (eee pad). When I try to do VolDown+Power to get into recovery it doesn't ask for VolUp, but goes straight to selection of Wipe or USB. When I select fastboot or wait 10 secs device frozes. (I haven't tried wipe, just in case it would be needed to unbrick).
I read thread about unbricking (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514088) and to me it seems like option 3, but I don't see recovery option.
In device manager I have 'ASUS Fastboot Interface'.
Here's video how it looks like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BGd1PIVbn8
Please please could anyone help me?
Btw: Is there any chance to shut down? Holding power button just resets, so does pinhole... :/

Shouldn't it be volume and power down to get to the option to press volume up for recovery?
Are you familiar with fastboot flashing recoveries? Either way that will be helpful info for us to have.
Most important thing, this is no big deal at all, it's really a minor issue. Don't let yourself get stressed out over it, the community will make sure you're good to go.

Nope, this is my first time flashing.
You say you dont see the VOL_UP message. From the video it looks like it is there. You just did not press it within 5 seconds.
Once it comes up, let go of the buttons ;p

nope it's not there. I was holding voldown from the start and as soon as it should say 'press volup for recovery' (time 0:04) it jumps (skips 5 seconds of waiting) directly to wipe/fastboot options (wipe is one that is selected on video)
Ok so I managed to fix my problem thanks to hanzo001's thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1662158). Someone should add this instructions to the [HOW-TO] Unbrick your Transformer Prime (or not) thread.

Question:
How did you install TWRP and where did you get it ? What version of TWRP is it ? I believe there is the ICS and JB versions and there are specific version for TF201 as well.
Are you able to go to fast boot ? if so then you are not bricked yet. The way to install TWRP is to install it using fastboot.
http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/93
I got twrp from their site. I got the JB version. I cant get into fastboot. If I hold down volume while trying to boot it still just goes to the splash screen just like if I dont. I cant turn it off though. When I hold down power to turn it off as soon as it turns off it just trys to start again so Im not sure its registering the volume button or not.

If it helps any to know this I can turn it off now and still volume down and power does nothing.
The only thing that gets me anything different than the splash screen is to hold volume up and power.
Did you find a way to recover your tf201?
Hello lemayautocare,
Have you found a post/site, that explains how to recover you tf201? I'm having the exact same problem an the only additional information I can give you is that I notice that when I power it with the volume button up, the screen is black but my computer sees the device when I use lsusb. It doesn't show up when I power it up with volume button down.

Volume up and power puts it into APX mode. This mode is only of any use to you if you already have NVFlash backups.
I was doing a backup with TWRP and everything seemed to go just fine. Then after a reboot i unlocked the phone to notice that it was leaving the lock-screen icons on the bottom of the page. I still had access to my notification bar and could clear notifications. Figuring that there had just been a mistake in the boot process, I held the power button to restart the phone. Well it never brought up my power menu to restart. Also instead of making me wait ten seconds until it flashed its lights and restarted, it just restarted in like 3 seconds. Now my phone is stuck on the HTC ONE screen and will not respond to anything including hold the power button.
My phone is rooted an s-off. I know that I have not posted at all on here, but I have been rooting and know how at least the basics on adb shell. I just have never had a phone lock up to this point. If I can at least get to recovery, I should have 2 or 3 backups to run. I just don't want to have to wait for the phone battery to die just to hope I can get to recovery.

Are you saying volume up + power button does not restart your phone nor does any help? Check if your phone is detected in computer and if so you can issue and adb reboot command
also since there is no removable battery HTC added a reboot function press home vol down and power that should do the trick
The phone is not detected by a computer, nor will it charge. Vol down and power is not cutting it off. Right now I am waiting for the battery to die so I can hopefully boot into recovery and do a restore.
Vol up + Power was the key. I was thinking it was volume down. Thanks for all your help

OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
:victory::victory::victory:
Just wanted to point out I ran into this issue also (Stuck on white HTC boot screen) after wiping my ROM and Vol UP + Power did the trick for me also (and then Vol Down + Power to get back to the bootloader).
i need help, guys
so attempting to install a new rom, i must have dont something wrong because now restarting the phone will leave me on the htc logo loop and restart. i still have access to hboot and fastboot. but when attempting to load into twrp, it shows the team win logo for half a second and then restarts the phone. then i installed cwm and it does boot into it but whatever option i pick, install zip, wipe data, ANYTHING, restarts the phone.
i have no idea what to do. i tried installing a rom using adb sideload but it stops at around 80%, ive tried installing different versions of twrp and cwm and same thing. i think it is bricked. im using the verizon htc one max. the only option i see left is the ruu toolkit but ive only been able to find the sprint version and then it says that bootloader needs to be locked and i have not idea how to do that from hboot, fastboot, or cwm
attempting to install superuser also fails
if there's anyone here that can help, please, any suggestions will be appreciated. thanks =
Sounds like you're flashing the wrong TWRP.

May I suggest following these instructions?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51753483&postcount=129
If you're able to complete those instructions outlined in that post, this should set you up with the latest HBOOT, Radio and TWRP (Recovery) for the Verizon HTC One.
Make sure you read the post fully before you start, especially this part:
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip (Be sure it finishes saying 'successful', not 'please flush again immediately'. If it says the flush again, rerun the command)
If you succeed in getting that done, see if TWRP still causes the phone to reboot and get back to us.
i soft bricked my phone when installing the cyanangen 12 rom, it quit during the setup wizzard. The button combination of down and power release when seeing lg and repressing is not working. PleASE TELL ME i can enter twrp without having to restore my phone to stock. The phone will receive phone calls but that is all it does. otherwise it says setup wizzard quit and endlessly says this when you press ok. please help, despite being in los angeles, i have not found anybody capable of helping me.
Patrick--in so much need...
What is the repressing step? I've never heard of that. Isn't it just vol down and power, then release power while still holding vol down until recovery boots?
Also, do you have adb or fastboot installed on a pc? If so, adb reboot recovery from CMD if in android, or fastboot reboot recovery if in bootloader. Have you tried those?

You don't have to release the buttons, idk why so many people keep saying this. Should be the same as mine.. With the phone off just hold both power and volume down until you see it say Recovery Mode loading, then release. If that doesn't work then try the adb command while plugged in to your computer.

How do you get into bootloader if phone is bricked? It sees the phone, but it won't open up and let me look inside? Thank you
A window comes up and says that the kernal cracked.. My phone is having a hard time getting charged, could this be related?
Started out with Z4, updated to Z8. I tried this with TWRP installed after making both EFS backup and regular nandroid backup, installed fine. I made sure to use the recommended partition zips. Here's the ROM I used. However after turning my phone off it will turn on into safe mode (lollipop) in limited, seemingly random instances. I have yet to access recovery. However, the one part I know that I screwed up is I installed xposed (forgot to install the xposed helper), so I receive unlimited errors for that and can't do anything.
I've tried rebooting my phone normally, rebooting into recovery, and cutting all of my losses and flashing back to stock. Any advice? I'm trying to follow the directions here to revert back to stock, but my computer will only recognize an unrecognized device.
Thanks for the help!
Flash the rom labeled "BarePop_TE_V1 " it has the files need to fix your issues (make sure to thank @engine95). Heres the link to the rom it is pretty much a debloated version of that lollipop rom you were running:http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/development/barepop-zv8-t3035551
That reboot problem you are having is because of a bug with the stock rom so just flash that one to fix everything.
I appreciate the help, however my main problem still lies with the fact that I can't access recovery. I've gotten it to where I can reboot normally (albeit I still can't do anything due to the constant errors), but holding pwr+vol down and then letting go and reclicking those once the lg sign comes up won't let me into recovery. Do you have any advice for that? Thanks again for the help!

I've had similar issues in the past trying to boot into recovery and the method you said (vol down+power then let go and press again when LG logo comes up) also wouldn't work for me. Have you tried just holding it down and not letting it go until you see "Recovery Mode"? That actually worked for me.

I don't know why it worked this time... but it worked on my second attempt! I have access! Only issue is the touchscreen is messed up on the ROM, but it works!
With all of these issues you may want to flashtool back to ZV4 and reroot or ZV8 your call.

Not to be redundant, but my understanding is the only way it will go into recovery from full off is to keep holding power+vol down until you see "recovery mode", if you let up on the buttons before you see recovery mode it will simply reboot.
When rooting an ATT G3 I could not for the life of me get it to boot into recovery using the button combo, instead I just used adb reboot recovery instead, worked every time, to this day the guy can only reboot to recovery from within rom, gonna suck if he gets soft bricked.. My Sprint G# holding the buttons works like a charm
When I want to boot into recpvery I always have to do volume + power up until the lg logo comes up then let go and press them again. Then I have to press the factory reset button and click yes. For me and I guess others when you hold volume + powerdown you just end up going into safe mode. If you end up always having problem just download a app that can make your phone reboot itself or download terminal and run:
su
reboot recovery
That always works because it is built into the phone.
