So no option to unbrick my tf201? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Ive read and I think Ive came to the conclusion that I got a new boat anchor. Just wanted to see if anyone can confirm before I trash it.
Its a tf201.
Had 4.1.1
Used the asus unlock tool.
All went well
Went to install twrp
Rebooted fine.
Rebooted again went to asus logo with unlocked in the top left.
Its stuck there.
Cant enter recovery.
CAN enter APX
Did not install NVFLASH
Toss it?

Question:
How did you install TWRP and where did you get it ? What version of TWRP is it ? I believe there is the ICS and JB versions and there are specific version for TF201 as well.
Are you able to go to fast boot ? if so then you are not bricked yet. The way to install TWRP is to install it using fastboot.
http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/93

I got twrp from their site. I got the JB version. I cant get into fastboot. If I hold down volume while trying to boot it still just goes to the splash screen just like if I dont. I cant turn it off though. When I hold down power to turn it off as soon as it turns off it just trys to start again so Im not sure its registering the volume button or not.

If it helps any to know this I can turn it off now and still volume down and power does nothing.
The only thing that gets me anything different than the splash screen is to hold volume up and power.

Did you find a way to recover your tf201?
Hello lemayautocare,
Have you found a post/site, that explains how to recover you tf201? I'm having the exact same problem an the only additional information I can give you is that I notice that when I power it with the volume button up, the screen is black but my computer sees the device when I use lsusb. It doesn't show up when I power it up with volume button down.

Volume up and power puts it into APX mode. This mode is only of any use to you if you already have NVFlash backups.

The first thing you need to do is enable NVFlash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774352
Once you do that you can continue tinkering with the device
The screen you linked to is the bootloader screen not the recovery screen. to enter the recovery you have to press vol down, on the RCK icon. If you loaded the recovery successfully it should load, if not you need to try to install it again because something did not work correctly.
Word of caution recoveries do not work yet with JellyBean so if you load a JB rom, do not try to load a recovery, this is what almost bricked my device, but thanks to NVFlash i was saved.
Good Luck and Happy Modding!

I think he already has nvflash or he wouldn't have the rck icon.
to enter recovery he uses volume up on the icon not volume down. volume down selects it.
recoveries work fine as long as you are restoring a jb rom and using twrp.

I don't have NVFlash, stock device a week old and I have the RCK icon when I hold Vol Down and power on.
I never used NVFlash.
I have the recovery icon but when I select it (as on the picture), there is a text saying "Booting recovery kernel image" and then nothing else happends.
Since i could not turn off the device, i let it run out of battery yesterday. So i recharged it, and now I can't access fastboot anymore, when I do power + vol down I end up on the asus boot logo...

If you had held the power off button for 10 seconds the device should have restarted.

The problem is that I could not turn it off, so it normaly went out of battery.
Today I wanted to try NVFlash so I recharged my prime, and when I wanted to boot it and put it in fastboot mode I couldnt get to the selection screen (with RKV, Android, Fastboot, Wipe). It just boots on the asus boot logo.

[Q] Attempted to upgrade to CM10.1 from CM 9.1..stuck at Eee Pad Screen

Hello,
Last night I downloaded (from xda), and installed CM 10.1 on CWM 5.8.3.4...all seemed to go well, until I rebooted the system. Now my prime will not boot past the Eee Pad screen..I think it is because I didn't have a JB BL? But, I don't know how to get a JB BL.
I re-downloaded CM 9.1, and put it on m Micro SD card from my NOTE 2, but the Prime won't recognize the external SD in CWM.
How can I fix this?
Also, my PC will NOT recognize my prime at all, it doesn't even show up in the device manager...so I can do adb.
thanks!
no help
Can you get into fastboot?
Have you done nvflash?

You need access to fastboot and this is an easy fix.
Either try your prime in a different computer and see if you can get it to show up or it is possible that your cable is faulty and will need to get a new one off ebay.

Hold down power button and volume down for 10-15 seconds until you get to the screen where there are icons on it (wipe, usb icon etc)
Use volume down to go to the usb icon and then press volume up. It will say entering fastboot mode and freeze on your screen. This is normal and you are in fastboot mode. Now go to device manager and see if you have any devices there.

Personally I wouldn't even use cwm on the prime. Can you please tell me what the numbers are up the top of the screen when you get to the screen with the icons. It will either start with a 9 or a 10. Also tell me where your nvidia logo is. Bottom center or bottom right when you turn it on.

You are on the ics bootloader at mo. Please take a look at this post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35419142&postcount=5
That will get you up to jellybean bootloader and jellybean twrp. Make sure if you flash Cyanogenmod afterwards you flash one based on jellybean bootloader. I don't think the official cm is on jb bootloader yet but the unofficial one is.

Okay, I am flashing the ICS TWRP...it seems like it may be "stuck" on the .bat file..it is just saying.... sending 'recover' (6340 kb)..it has been like this for 5 ish minutes now..
also, if it does install..how do I boot into TWRP? same as CWM?

That should only take a few seconds to flash. Once it works correctly you would go in the same way as CWM.
I don't like the fact that it has stuck mid flash tho.

It wouldn't go straight in. You would need to hold power and volume down and go in the way you would before.
there are also no numbers or anything up top when I re-boot..if I hold down power and vol- it goes straight into bootloader..no option to get into TWRP.

This isn't making much sense at the moment. The old way used to be to hold power and volume down and you would get a message saying press volume up within 5 seconds to get into recovery. The new way became that you had an icon in the same place as fastboot and wipe data that said rck and you would press up on that to get into recovery.
You are not even getting the press up to enter recovery any more before getting to the 2 icons ? I'm still a little bit worried about this flash failing earlier.

[Q] Starting in Fastboot Not working

I'm trying to update from an ICS bootloader to a JB one, however when I try to go through the process of starting up in the Fastboot mode, as soon as I hit the Vol Up key, it just sits there with the text saying it is starting the Fastboot mode. I let it sit for a while to see if it was going to do something, but it doesn't. The computer doesn't recognize it at all with it stuck at this screen, and I assume there is supposed to be some sort of new view that comes up. I haven't done anything previously on my Prime other than unlocking it, which was a while ago, but I didn't do anything past that, so I'm not sure what could be going on, it is not bricked and works completely fine other than not being able to get into the fastboot mode. Anyone have any idea what may be wrong?

That is how fastboot works. If you look in device manager on your PC you may see it near the top of the devices. you may need to install the drivers. the universal naked drivers in the development section should work if your pc is looking for drivers for the device
Okay, thanks, it was working the whole time then.
My problem now is, I've been trying to initiate the install of both the JB bootloader and Hairybean TWRP Updater (normal), but no matter what I seem to do, I can't seem to get it to be installed. When I go into the recovery screen, it only shows the wipe data, fastboot, and load android, there's nothing to get into TWRP.

Hold vol down+power and when it vibrates, let go of power. As soon as the screen shows something press volume up, that will start recovery.

Sorry, I neglected to mention I actually have been doing all of my work based on these very instructions from the androwook page, and it is where I ran into this issue in the first place. I see now based on the skaforey's post that pressing volume up should be the way into recovery, however as I stated to him, it simply resets the device. After restarting with the power + voldown button, let go, and hit volume up (press vol up in 5 seconds to enter RCK), it waits a second, then restarts.
Update before I even bothered to submit this last section: I installed CWM via fastboot, which then enabled me to actually enter a recovery, which then let me install the JB bootloader update and thusly HairyBean. Thanks for all your guys help.

device bricked after being rom-ed with wrong rom

Hello!
A friend of mine has flashed his TF201 with the wrong ROM....he used a ROM for TF300T and the device has bricked...It only shows Asus logo and then it goes blank.
Since I'm not frmilliar with Android in tablets....he said that the tablet is recognised on PC after the power down/volume down keys pressed and then to APX mode. I think that he never used NVflash....
is there any possibility to reflash the device with the correct rom? get the tablet back working?
thank you

Can you get into the bootloader by holding down power and volume down? If so which version? You may be able to flash from a PC using fast boot.
Which ROM did he install?

Well APX mode is no use to him if he didn't do an nvflash backup of the necessary files before he updated it. You haven't said if he can actually get into the bootloader or not (has 4 icons after holding down power and volume down for 5 to 10 secs). If not then there is nothing you can do other than send it back to Asus for repairs.

[Q] UMI X3 boot loop...

Hello! I don't know where i should post this since the UMI X3 device isn't on this site, so i just post it here...
I installed a custom rom, now it's bootlooping.
If i turn it on it will show the little boot splash screen, then the screen will go black and usually it would show the boot loading screen but it doesn't, it reboots again to the boot splash screen.
I tried searching on google, but none of the forum posts actually helped me.
I try to holds down the power button and the volume up button at the same time, but it will just do the same bootloop thing.
The home button is a touch button, and i actually already tried holding down on that but it didn't work.
I also tried holding power button and volume down, and i tried holding all the buttons down at once (power + volume up and down)... also no succes.
Now it used to work, i got into some chinese bootloader before i installed this rom.
So, basicly it won't get into any recovery. I did install clockworkmod recovery actually and it did work, yet i needed to launch it via mobile uncle tools to get into it. I think im totally ****ed now...
Pleace, is there ANY way to solve this problem?
Problem in a nutshell:
Boot looping splash screen, can't get into recovery mode. (PS: i also tried to connect it via USB but it won't find my phone...)

UPDATE:
I'm now able to get into recovery mode!

Hi Kyriano,
I have the same problem after installing the cynogenmod, does your phone work now. How did you get in the recovery mode??
posible solution
Hi,
After struggling with this issue all day i found a quite simple solution.
The cause of the bootloop in my case was the simcard. So this is what i did:
1. remove simcard tray
2. Turn the phone off and on
3. If everything is ok the bootloop stopped, if not try to reboot again
4. Download mobileuncle in the playstore
5. Open the app click on; into recovery mode
6. Recovery will open and then hopefully you made a backup.Restore it and voila!
If you did not make a back try to flash the official umi ROM.
I hope this solved your problem to.
