Has anybody installed and managed to run the game smoothly on their SGS2? If so please can you tell me what Rom/kernel you are using.
Its becoming an minor obsession to find out why all other games run great except Roboto, which is laggy as hell, no matter what Rom/Kernel/OC used.
Tried the game on other less powerful phones and runs smooth.
I was able to run roboto HD on my Samsung galaxy ace l.lol ®© @[email protected]

Thank you but I already have HD and SD version..both seem to run laggy compared to my other devices.
So I accidentally posted this in the internation SIII forums and didnt get many replies.
I have the sprint galaxy s3 with the s4 processor and 2gb ram and both emulators are very slow on the phone. Anyone else have this issue?
Yes. Tried playing ssb on n64oid and it was laggy.
gameboid runs smooth for me playing pokemon. Try changing max frame skip to 0.

Yes n64 emulator was laggy playing zelda and Mario. Unfortunate but what can you do

It ran perfectly fine for me, both emulators. Played Pokemon and Mario &Luigi on gameboid and Mario 64 on n64oid

I haven't tried it yet, but try contacting the emulator authors about it. Several of the apps I have installed have had recent updates that fix speed issues with the SGS3.
I've used N64oid, snesoid, FPSE, and haven't had any issues at all one my S III, sprint.
i changed the gfx plug-in to the gles2n64 and it seems to play smoother.
with that being said. ocarina of time still plays great, but other games dont work as well as they did on the s2.
remember, the s3 is pushing almost double the pixels. the s4 is more powerful than exynos, but i dont think powerful enough to compensate though. just my opinion. games to not play as well on this phone as they did on the s2.
Id be curious to see how the quad core exynos version of the s3 handles gaming

Oh I have them and the pro version. But what plugin did you use? Did you use any specific settings?
The qualcomm plugin.
i really haven't messed with any settings other than setting the aspect ratio to 4:3 or whatever and all the emus ive ran run MUCH better then they did on my Xperia play. N64oid and FPse were basically unplayable for the most part. most roms were stupid slow.
this CPU and RAM seem to have no performance related issues running any emus as far as i can tell.
running on completely stock VZW SGS3

Alright I installed the free version of Chainfire and booted up FPse, went to switch to OpenGL and loaded the plugin, got an immediate force close upon reset, what did you have to do to get it to run?
N64 and SNES emulators run flawlessly on my S3. I have tired tons of games and they run perfectly.

Hate to get off topic, but have you been able to get FF9 working on FPSE? I havent,
On topic though, I've use NESoid, SNESoid, GBCoid, GBoid, GBAoid all work on my phone. Have tried n64oid.
I must say I just downloaded Chainfire3D with . Qualcomm plugin and it fixed any lag I had while playing NBA jam. DOPE!!!
Looking for the best rom for gaming.
Been playing nova 3, 69p at the moment.
And real racing 2.
Both games lag at times.
Can anyone recommend a rom and kernel combo which they find works very well, Im looking for the best.
I'm currently on foxhound 1.4.4, using siyah kernel, the rom itself is the best I've used, however when gaming on the said two games I get lag.
Any help, pointers or suggestions is appreciated.
Cheers.

Really? What games have you played on that rom? Any of the two that i mentioned?
thanks for replying.
It doesn't really matter, most tw roms are the same anyway except for a few cosmetic changes.
What you need is to overclock your gpu when playing graphics intensive games, siyah will let you oc the gpu up to 700mhz and still be stable (it goes up to 800 but it's not stable)

If you NEED to overclock one of the most powerful GPU's for mobile devices around, then there is definitively something wrong with your game...
well dead trigger runs really well, even with tegra 3 graphics switched on, now i know that real racing isn't optimized very well and i've only just played nova 3 this once, but surely it should work well on the S3, and fyi, theres nothing wrong with my device m8, i've tried this on about 4 different s3's and all yield the same results.
The games are all paid for versions too.
Maybe i'm not ocing the GPU, i hadn't touched it but will check it out.
Cheers.
What are you using to OC your gpu?
thanks.

I agree completely, mine is at 440mhz and I have no problem with any games I play (gtaIII asphalt mini motors etc) but I do know that some games are very badly optimised and need an extra bit of grunt to get them to run smoothly.

stock rom is good enough for all the hd games. Nova 3 single player and multiplayer, and real racing 2 run perfect.

i dont think roms have anything to do with playing games! some apps may FC in some roms though, generally a fast rom will be ideal :good:

Nothing i can put my finger on m8, it's a clean install of foxhound and it appears to be fine running the rom, i'm using apex if you think that matters.
Using Siyah kernel 1.5beta

I have a fast rom (foxhound) nothing much installed, killed all 3rd party apps with autostarts.
Using Siyah and although the games run at an acceptable frame rate, i think there is some lag still present.

yes, without any lag! he's very smooth ( only loading page can lag but that don't affect the game) =)
Try Reckless Racing. You can download the APK file, it has 2 kinds of racing and it's so fun!
Also, MW sometimes freezes on loading screen. It won't load the game until you go back in home screen and reload the game from Task Manager. It's pretty annoying because the device keep freezing for a while after holding the home button.
+1 for Reckless Racing 2, nice game.

I used it, and it runs well, for the game that are supposed to run well.
You have a full list of games that works on PPSSPP on their website.
I can't give out the websites to download the ISOs though...Torrent it.
I tested a few games. I'll update with more results eventually.
Monster hunter freedom 2: loads and runs, but very sluggish and unplayable
DBZ shin budokai 1 and 2 : works perfectly, runs amazingly well on the note

With your config i'm getting 45-50 fps with frameskipping on, and 30-34 without frameskipping, and i am having this "lag" problem with other games like Modern Combat 3, Dead Trigger, etc... can be a modem/radio issue?
Hmmmm... What rom are you using? I'm using the stock telus jb ROM with the at&t modem. Are you sure you're not interchanging vps vs fps? I get 60 fps and ~45 to 60 vps, but it still runs smooth enough that I would play it. I'll make a short video later tonight so you can see how it runs on my note. Try closing all your running apps before you play it.

Sorry, Sorry Sorry, I'm confusing, i'm talking about the VPS... not FPS, i reach to 60 FPS but with VPS at 30-50 isnt very smooth...
i'm using the Padawan JB v2 ROM...
Ahhh OK. My vps dips to 30 sometimes, like when a match just starts. But its usually around 50 and that's fairly playable IMO. If you are using the phase kernel, try overclocking and see if you get better results. Although I don't think it would male much of a difference. If the phase kernel can oc GPU then it might make things run smoother

Can overlock the GPU? HOW?! XD, since i installed i'm trying to OC the GPU with the "Trickster MOD" APP, that's included with the ROM, and i'm using that kernel (phase kernel) and these app always return the "OC" to 266 when i apply the changes... i tried to OC at 300 and 320, always same problem...
I haven't personally used the phase kerenl so if the oc isn't sticking, try looking around the padawan thread for a solution
