I'm a huge fan of racing games, and would like to know if anybody knows of some good ones that run well on the Galaxy Player 5 so I don't end up spending money on something that won't run. Thanks in advance.

Asphalt 7 doesn't run well at all. Maybe 5fps. It needs 1GB of RAM to run it properly.

yes,without any lag! he's very smooth ( only loading page can lag but that don't affect the game) =)
Try Reckless Racing. You can download the APK file, it has 2 kinds of racing and it's so fun!
Also, MW sometimes freezes on loading screen. It won't load the game until you go back in home screen and reload the game from Task Manager. It's pretty annoying because the device keep freezing for a while after holding the home button.
+1 for Reckless Racing 2, nice game.

I think you can make that assessment. Haven't seen any of the games listed on the thread for International version that haven't worked on my GNote, although I haven't tried running Chainfire3d yet since I just rooted last night.
World of Goo, Anomaly HD, and Osmos work great!

Any verified hd games? The ones I have are not action games (scrabble, word search, etc) so I can't really say if they look good or not.

My fruit ninja works but graphics is not as good as smaller screens... wtb hd

Dead Space DOES work.
Sentinel 3 looks really nice with the HD packs installed.
Anyone play misquadron special edition? It runs fine, bit if you hold down the fire button it seems to randomly stop registering it.

Weird. I get a black screen with a white bar in the middle like it's downloading the extra files. But I can't see any text so I'm not sure what it's doing. And after letting it sit for about 10 minutes without the bar moving, I just uninstalled it thinking it wasn't optimized for our device yet
Dungeon defenders closes everytime
I tried to play it just closes without a message and exits to my homesceeen,after messing about with chainfire,I made it past the intro and now when the game loads it does the same thing and exits to home screen

the same tihng happens here man i just bought asphalt 6, modern combat 3 and dead space from market and download the whole data folder and the only one that works fine is modern combat 3 both asphalt 6 and dead space just close in half game play that just annoying i dont know if it´s a ICS problem or the games are not longer compatible with ICS if anyone can help us here it would be good cos i don want go back to gingerbread
I just went back to GB and backed up dungeon defenders with titanium backup,when in GB it loads fine but when I choose the character which I created from ics it crashes,I created a new character and it works fine.

Man on ICS i did a clean up i did a full flash the get rooted and with root explorer delete all the junk apps like chinese keyboard and all that now i have more than 200 mb free ram and all the games works perfectly it seems to be a crash due to the little ram we have and the heavy apps on ICS

Hey i found out that temple run brave was showing in google play through our phone ..so it means its capable of playable by our phone G3...but after i installed the 32 mb game ..when try to open it,it just force closes on me ..why is it happening ??

Its more than likely that the game actually doesn't work. I had spiderman total mayhem installed on my phone it showed the opening video and would just then close down

Tried to run on G-ROMf1. I waited for about 10 minutes while game was loaded. Then I heard sound with VERY heavy lags(1 fps in 3 seconds) Then optimizes to 10 fps/s but still heavy lags.
Will try to optimize it and give my view

Yeah Samsung video drivers may work as it has all the graphic extensions implemented..but will be laggy coz of less optimized coding done..as tom said..
cm7 and cm9 users have to wait for fully working of openfimg..it may be our last chance to check our gpu's performance... and I also think our ram is also not sufficient to run temple run..
played this game for a while start up is lagy after when game start still so lagy with cf3d then delete cant play a which lag so much.
Tried the free version barely worked and it isn't even that fun on my S3 imho not worth it.

Been playing nova 3, 69p at the moment.
And real racing 2.
Both games lag at times.
Can anyone recommend a rom and kernel combo which they find works very well, Im looking for the best.
I'm currently on foxhound 1.4.4, using siyah kernel, the rom itself is the best I've used, however when gaming on the said two games I get lag.
Any help, pointers or suggestions is appreciated.

It doesn't really matter, most tw roms are the same anyway except for a few cosmetic changes.
What you need is to overclock your gpu when playing graphics intensive games, siyah will let you oc the gpu up to 700mhz and still be stable (it goes up to 800 but it's not stable)

If you NEED to overclock one of the most powerful GPU's for mobile devices around, then there is definitively something wrong with your game...
well dead trigger runs really well, even with tegra 3 graphics switched on, now i know that real racing isn't optimized very well and i've only just played nova 3 this once, but surely it should work well on the S3, and fyi, theres nothing wrong with my device m8, i've tried this on about 4 different s3's and all yield the same results.
The games are all paid for versions too.
Maybe i'm not ocing the GPU, i hadn't touched it but will check it out.

I agree completely, mine is at 440mhz and I have no problem with any games I play (gtaIII asphalt mini motors etc) but I do know that some games are very badly optimised and need an extra bit of grunt to get them to run smoothly.

stock rom is good enough for all the hd games. Nova 3 single player and multiplayer, and real racing 2 run perfect.
Check if you have something intensive running in the background

i dont think roms have anything to do with playing games! some apps may FC in some roms though, generally a fast rom will be ideal :good:

Nothing i can put my finger on m8, it's a clean install of foxhound and it appears to be fine running the rom, i'm using apex if you think that matters.

I have a fast rom (foxhound) nothing much installed, killed all 3rd party apps with autostarts.
Using Siyah and although the games run at an acceptable frame rate, i think there is some lag still present.

Precisely, all of the games that you just mentioned run absolutely fine on my phone, however Nova 3 and real racing 2 are not running as well as they should be.

I am running checkromv5 and galaxysih kernel.. nova3 plays without a hint of lag.. even stock kernel played it well...

I am on stock rom and have never experienced any lag while playing graphic intensive games like mass effect infiltrator, mc3, real racing2, max Payne and shadow gun and my phone isn't rooted.

i have no problem playing alphat 7 in undervolt mode.. i think ur game have problem.. but u can try overclock it.. and see the different..
Has anyone managed to play Gears And Guts without lag on Android 4.0?
The galaxy player doesnt have sufficient ram to play graphically intensive games. Sorry. Maybe try flashing a custom rom and kernel that might help.

I'm running Remics UX and rj's custom kernel at 1.2GHz. I can run MC3 pretty smoothly and in my opinion MC3 is more graphicaly intensive than gears and guts. Im gonna ask supermaster if he can add SWAP file support to his ROM as it might solve the lag we're getting on some of these games.
I think it has lag because of lack of hw acceleration, it should be better when we get kernel 3.0

How in earth is that possible? Gears and guts lags a bit on my nexus 7 which is significantly more powerful. However I've noticed the lag only occurs when the rockets on the roof fire. Gears and guts is the only app that lags on my nexus 4 although again the lag is only at certain times.

The Nexus devices have a significantly higher resolution, so the game has to draw a lot more per frame on them.
