It's the default mode, i think you can not change it anymore. The nexus7 with JB has the same issue, google thinks that the users like it this way and we use our tablet only in portrait mode...

Is there any way to change invert the function of the volume rocker when in landscape mode? It's counter-intuitive to push to the left to get the volume to go up. It seems like it'd be easy to just flip the switch function when the phone goes to landscape, but then again I'm no dev.
I googled and the only thing I found was a post asking the same question for a different device which had no response.
Is there any way to change the volume button behaviour in landscape mode in Neo V, like if I press the right button(volume down) it would increase the volume.
Can anyone provide the way to do it or tell me the files to edit.
Thanks in advance.
I am not quite sure, but the only phone I came across that has volume buttons configured this way is my milestone. All others use the default android way.
This is a simple hardware volume button remapping mod. You should be able to do the same using an app such as ButtonRemapper.
The stock hardware button order POWER-DOWN-UP feels reversed for Nexus 10 when held in portrait with the volume buttons at the upper right. This button mapping is specified in /system/user/keylayout/manta-keypad.kl as follows:
Code:
key 114 VOLUME_DOWN WAKE
key 115 VOLUME_UP WAKE
key 116 POWER WAKE
To remap the hardware buttons for POWER-UP-DOWN, which feels more natural, modify manta-keypad.kl as follows:
Code:
key 114 VOLUME_UP WAKE
key 115 VOLUME_DOWN WAKE
key 116 POWER WAKE
I made a flashable zip for POWER-UP-DOWN button mapping, download here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22573583/N10_Volume_Reverse.zip
To revert to stock button mapping (POWER-DOWN-UP) use this flashable zip, download here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22573583/N10_Volume_Stock.zip
Standard disclaimer use at your own risk.
Works exactly as stated, thanks!
Thanks for teaching us the mod
Just what I needed. Was driving me crazy
Hello,
is this MOD reverses the keys only in portrait mode or in landscape and portrait modes?

Both modes get reversed
if you arent using the front camera, you can just flip it upside down and it will feel right. as far as reversed landscape goes.
Unfortunately this doesn't work for me. I tried both your mod and doing it myself. Immediately after I save the file the system comes up with another one, just by appending bak at the end of the file name. So I cannot edit it, I got like 4 files already...
Nexus 10, Kernel and ROM from craigacgomez AOSP+ 4.2.1
Used the zip from Dropbox and it worked! Thanks!
This doesn't seem to work for me? Used both the zip and modifying the file myself but it won't work at all...
do u have to be rooted? I do the power+up+down and only get start, recover, reboot, or shutoff
I wish I found this zip before I did it manually.

I know I'm resurrecting an old thread here but would it be possible to get this mod on 4.3?
Edit: It does work on 4.3! It was one of a couple zips I flashed when the flash failed. It wasn't this zip that failed, alone it worked wonderfully.

I have been using the various versions of AOKP, and this mod has worked on all of them up to the current (4.4.4).

I don't see the purpose in these. Now you'll have two sets.
So true, but in his defence maybe he's remapping the capacitive keys. I do remapping but don't use any on screen keys, I run full screen all the time.
My purpose is to disable the existing softkeys and enable on screen buttons.
Main aim is to get multitasking button and menu button along with back and home keys.
Currently using HTC one M8. But not so happy with the screen size downgrade from N3 to M8.
So bought Max and planning to make it more like M8 with sense six and on screen buttons.
Since the screen is wider I can afford to keep 4 buttons there.

I can relate to you rationale, similar thinking just go about it in a different way.
My running immersive mode exclusive and holding in left hand mostly, I've map the capacitive keys to volume up & down, (longs of TV viewing). My volume up is menu. Volume down is recent. Power is back-double click to home.

I use Gravity Box xposed module to enable immersive mode only.
Default the Back button and Home button, are now my default volume down and volume up respectfully., so when I have the phone on the side watching video easy to reach volume up & down.
Since I came to the Max I use proximity for screen on/off. (I was use to the w2w but not available currently on the Max)
Pm sent for a how to edit the Keylayout
Hi Jerrycycle,
Out of topic : do you by chance know how to disable the vibrator module itself of Max ? Via build.prop or some available custom kernel...
I don't use vibration and I cannot control vibration of HTC devices completely via settings option.
For example I can't disable it for :
1. Carrier sent messages in prepaid sim.
2. Disabling vibration feedback on call works with some numbers doesn't work with some numbers. It's flakey.

PM me. I have an idea.
What I would like is to have capacitive buttons to not work an turned off and only have Nav bar buttons. I would really like the pa phone layout options to like phone phablet and tablet set up

I think is possible to disable the capacitive button with edits to the keylayout, as for the phablet mode, I think (the with KitKat) Google removed the coding needed for it to work.

Doesn't work on T6UL international models !!!
There is no line with qemu on /system/build.prop file. Even if I introduce one, after reboot the line is removed !!!

Hello Community,
since Nougat Update the volume keys on my Swift 2 are not longer reversed in landscape mode. I don`t find any way to change this in options. Was this feature deleted by wileyfox? Is there a way i can get that function back working?
