MOD Request - SMS Conversion to MMS - Galaxy Note II Themes and Apps

Samsung Touchwiz has this annoying habit of converting a text message to MMS moment it exceeds a given number of characters. There is a MOD available in GS3 forums which prevents this and keeps the text message from converting to MMS no matter how long. Can such a MOD be developed for Note 2?
Here is the link for the GS 3 MOD ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1772124&highlight=mms+sms

This would be awesome to have as a flashable zip for when testing different ROMs etc.

+1..
Please someone help

Just to add that this is not samsung tw habbit but google's code habit

Thanks for You replay.
But I cant find link to the File (Mms.apk or .........CWM.zip)
And Q.: somebody try it on SGNote 2?

Have you not considered using a different app for handling SMS messages? Handcent for example, has a simple tick box go turn the feature on or off.

Guys.... It's very simple... Take a look into our popular custom rom. Most of them have included no sms to MMS converted.
So, download the custom rom, extract mms.apk from /system/app and replace yours with any root explorer...
edit: Here it is...Just replace it, check permissions (rw-r-r) and reboot device. Its not flashable zip (its for LJA but im sure that its working in previous versions too):

[Q] How to change Mms.apk background

Hello to all of you!
I have to ask you some advice, because I really don't know how to solve my problem, even if I have looked a lot for a solution.
I would like to change background color of my Mms.apk. I attached the one Mms.apk I am using.
This is what I did several time:
1. Decompiling Mms.apk
2. Editing listitem_background.xml in /res/drawable/, replacing transparent with bright_foreground_light, a color I have found in my framework-res.apk.
3. Recompiling my Mms
4. Putting it in /system/app with 644 permissions
Every time I follow these steps, my new Mms.apk results to be not installed and I don't know what to do!
Can you help me?
Please, help me! I want to learn!!
Inviato dal mio GT-I9100 usando Tapatalk
Just use secondary messaging app, like GO SMS Pro or Handcent. You can tweak those settings in these apps.

I have followed advices in that post but my apk still doesn't work. Maybe I am wrong with something about signing apk, I have generated a signature called like the one in that post and use it, but, if I decompile Mms.apk and rebuild it, without editing anything, my apk still doesn't work.
I have solved the issue of signature by replacing META-INF and AndroidManifest.xml in the modified apk with the ones in the original one.
delca85,
I'd like to change my background color to black. Can you explain to me what you did to change yours?
I looked at the res/drawable/listitem_background.xml and I see three colors.
Which one did you modify?
Dave
I'm sorry but I haven't been able to find the way to edit Mms background. Maybe you can find something in Google, I will keep on trying, if I'll find something, I am going to write it here.

When i change message (and phone, home and contact) icon to look like s2 on my galaxy ace i do this.
1. Copy mms.apk in /system/app folder to pc
2. Rename it to mms.zip and unzip
3. Edit icon and put edited .png file back to mms.zip (dont create new zip)
4. Rename mms.zip back to mms.apk and put it to /system folder and now change file permissions
5. Move mms.apk to /system/app folder and overwrite
6. Reboot
sorry my english

Sepp82, I don't have any problem to change png, but, in this situation, I have to edit some xml and I don't know which and how.

ALWAYS BACK UP ORIGINAL APK FILE!!!
I use ninja morph from the market, edit what i want and then exit out, open root explorer,go into androidthemes/workspace,delete the META-INF folder, exit root explorer. Open ninja morph, goto Finish Project, and select project you're working on. Boom done. Open Signapk from market, hit next choose your file, platfom, next, let it do its thing hit finish at the end, root explorer install or copy paste to system.

Oh, that was the statusbar widget. I'm at home, but it's quite late already. You can extracts the framework res and/or systemui from the zip of the T. E. A. M. ROM which is in the development section, otherwise I can send you the file tomorrow maybe. Or if your good with photoshop you could create it yourself.

Go to layers now transparency
Set to 150 save if you haven't or can't do post here let me know if that's all you want I'll do for you

Here's statusbar_background.png.
I tried to replace it with the default file in framework-res, but I can't notice any changes.
Here's the framework-res I modded.
I tried replacing the framework-res provided by you sdk16420 and now Im in a bootloop I backed up my original framework on a sdcard.I think I didnt properly replace the framework-res.apk I renamed the modified one to framework-res2.apk and copied to the system framework folder...then I deleted the original one there and all the apps started crashing until I was left with the black screen...then I managed to reboot it...and now Im in a bootloop can I somehow replace the original one from my sdcard with the one that is currently in the system framework folder ? through adb or something ? And thank you korma when I get out from this bootloop Ill attach my original framework-res.apk and if your not too busy then maybe you could mod it for me because Im not too good with modifying apks ?
Ok so I didnt find a way to restore it with adb...I know its possible, but I just didnt have time to look around for an answer so I reinstalled the rom.
So here is my framework-res.apk could someone please modify it and reupload it and tell me how to properly replace it so I dont end up in a bootloop again ? Thank you

Also, do you happen to have the stock SystemUI.apk file?
Looks great but is the black status bar the only modification? Either way I want this. I hate the gray bar haha
Also, when I put it in the folder, do I have to do anything with the current SystemUI.apk or simply write over it? If so, assuming I want to go back to the old SystemUI, how do I get that?

Use root explorer. Also you could be using the base ROM and not a stock rom. That might cause a fc because the base has a modified systemUI.apk so some of the settings he made wouldn't work anymore.

Hmm maybe it was the file explorer app. I didn't want to have to pay for Root Explorer since I was under the impression ES File Explorer offered me the exact same stuff.
Yeah es file explorer definitely handles files different. That's why I broke down and paid for Root explorer, I never regretted it, IMO it is the best one out there.

Hi hansip87, this is working but have you noticed the extra space at left of the status bar?
Changing androidaddingLeft, android:layout_width and android:maxLength to 0 only removes the carrier name, but the extra space is still there. (see screenshot)
Any thoughts on how to remove it?

well, I did it.
I added a negative margin to the @id/statusIcons to shift it to the left (see screenshots)
-30.0dip is a bit too much, -27 might be exact the same as the space at the right.
so far so good. but I'm not quite sure if it's intended to be left for other purposes.

Notice the screenshots I posted here, I had the battery mod as well. I thought I did something wrong with the modified apk, but no, nothing wrong with my apk or zip file.
I just restored stock SystemUI.apk and services.odex, and then applied the zip file I uploaded with BMM, the carrier name and space are gone.
Notifications and other icons are shown properly.
Maybe you'll need to wait for someone to test my zip file.

you cannot install it normally. it is a system app. copy it to system/apps and set proper permissions and then restart

do you tested it before???
No need to set any permissions if u install from CWM
Earlier I posted only Mms.apk, for that u have to push it into system/apps and set required permissions, I thought that was a bit difficult for some people to follow, that's why I made this CWM installable zip which pretty much every one can install
the only thing missing from this application is the "delivery report"
walks out of there in great (;

Check enable delivery report in original MMS.apk then replace with new and delivery report works

thanks mate, i flashed the zip file and it works! and i got some dissapointment because the theme is so ugly!
its not all black like in the screen shot that you posted.how can i change that.
the theme is bit greenish where the text box live in and mix of some ugly colors.
i already changed in mms settings and ticked black background and restarted
nothings happen.
any suggestion?
