i9300 roms on i9305? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all.
I've done a bit of research and haven't found a solid answer.
I know the modem is completely different on the two devices and the 9305 has an extra gig of ram...
I was thinking, if I flash a 9300 rom and a 9305 modem, will all go well?
Or is it more complex than that?
Thanks in advance.

They have a different section on it for a reason.

No, you will end up with an expensive brick. It may be recoverable but it will not end well.

Please don't flash any I9300 stuff on the I9305 or vice versa. You'll brick your phone.

You have to find a Rogers rom somewhere, maybe on www.sammobile.com/firmware and flash it with Odin. Or else google around. This forum is for the Inernational version of the S3. Look in the US/Canadian thread.
You`re in luck here you find info:
PDA:I727RUXLF3
CSC:I727RRWCLF3
Phone: I727RUXLF3
Android Version: 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich
source: Samsung Canada
*facepalm*
Well that explains your problem.
That rom is for the INTERNATIONAL VERSION ONLY.
This forum is for the INTERNATIONAL VERSION ONLY.
your need the version for the north American version.

See post 4 above and find a rogers rom in the US forum and flash it with Odin. I would get a jig to get into downloadmode.

Best bet is to head over to the forum for the at&t, sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon versions, nothing you will get here will work for your phone, they all share the same hardware whereas the international one is completely different.

The you'll need a jtag. Search for a repair shop nearby and ask them if they can jtag your phone. Costs a few bucks but allows you to access download mode again.

No you can not possibly do that! Your device is completely different from the galaxy s3 for various reasons, by flashing a rom of other smartphone the only result will brick your device

When used in reference to consumer electronics, a "brick" describes an electronic device such as a smart phone, game console, router, or tablet computer that owing to a serious misconfiguration, corrupted firmware or a hardware problem, can no longer function. The term derives from the vaguely cuboid shape of many electronic devices (and their detachable power supplies) and the suggestion that the device can only function as a large, heavy object.

Sure hold on here whilst I flash the latest .ipsw file from Apple. I doubt that will brick my phone, after all, they are both smartphones!
But Is there any rom which is the same as the S3 firmware and needs no rooting

I dont think you are intelligent enough to do much with a phone.
But at least your next topic cant be as stupid as your first.
The one sought in the forum, there are custom rom leaving his appearance with the S3 S2.
Now this is really determined to install the rom S3 in S2, would you donate to your phone than using it with a paperweight in the future.

I9300t vs i9300

I just bought a galaxy s3 and realised the code is i9300t. Is it compatible with Roms for the regular international i9300 version. The phone seems to be from Vodafone Australia.

did you use the SEARCH function? It was already answered x-times.
yes you can use I9300 roms on I9300T, only the frequency band for T models is different as they are optimized for 850MHz, but even there you can use also 9300 modems. Just make sure you got the international model etc. and flash the correct rom in that sense, otherwise no difference between T and non-T
Thanks. I actually did use the search feature but didn't find any responses.

korean to international

Hello there i was wondering is there any chance of changing the s3 korean firmware to european .
Next week i'm getting a korean s3 but i really want to change the firmware
Now I have a s2 that was 250s and then i changed it to i9100
Well i googled and searched in xda forums but i didn't found anything about it
Is it possible to change the firmware with flashing the korean kernel for it . Or the radio chip stuff is like mars and venus
No, because your phone doesn't have the same hardware with International one.

True . Still I bought gt-i9300 lol so that is not a problem anymore . I have a question again . What is the advantages of having branded s3 between unbranded s3
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Not much? If you're rooted anyway. Not gonna get updates early if you're branded. But custom roms sort that out.
No noticeable difference when it comes to actual usage

Again a personal question . I used CF-root for stock kernel on my gt-i9100 because syiah , philz seems to lag . Did on my i9300 too . I understand that they have more battery life , but overclocking them leads to fast battery drain , is that right? So i prefer staying stock. Well i don't play with my phone , i play with my gtab 7500 more
If you don't need the extra performance, no need to overclock. I did it for the heck of it then realised I don't actually need it so went back to stock. Overclocking does lead to faster drain but some kernels also provide under volt support so they kind of negate each other in terms of battery.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
So undervolting could save battery in theory? I heard it destroys the battery even the phone in whole .
Heard too much stories of dead phone because of undervolting and overclocking. Because of idiots putting overclocking and undervolting on maximum. But they just dont know what are they doing.
Thanks a lot . Sorry for so much bothering

Question again . If i undervolt my device should i do battery calibiration or just leave it?

no need to calibirate then thanks ! In mongolian phone shops we have a chinese battery with more mhA(like+300) and i have tested so far . The charging goes approximatly 6 hours when the original takes 4 can it damage phone particles . I have to assure undervolting goes without problem . From what volt should i start . I m asking because i work in mining geological team and the reason i bought this phone is the gps glonass

some rom flashing questions

I've got Samsung shv e110s, I was wondering if I can flash i9100 rom on it, and if i can, can you give me some roms in Hebrew.
You just cannot. The hardware of these two devices are different. So it won't work.
