NEXUS 10 Design - Do you Like it? - Nexus 10 General

Hi Nexus fans,
I love the specs of Nexus 10 esp the awesome display plus the fact that - NO Touchwiz
But its the design (looks) which is troubling me, cant Google/Samsung do better than this?
I am not Apple fanboy but when I see iPad n Nexus 10 side by side in any video, its the iPad which stands out better !!!
sent from the "BE"a"ST" Galaxy S3

in my opinion the design is okay.. not awesome not bad its just well, okay

I agree with deluxxe. It isn't horrific. It just isn't great.

Yeah I definitely think they could have done better as well.

it's not as beautiful as LG nexus 4 but i think i love the design of it. I've been waiting for the grippy plastic material for a tablet rather than steel or aluminium.
i love the front facing speaker design and overall i think it's quite beautiful. but then, i haven't see the actual product just like most of us. So i think this is too early to decide.

Not overly impressed with it, it looks too much like the Galaxy Note 10.1 to me.

back looks ugly :/
wis it was more like the n7

Looks fine to me.Should be easy to hold and is still light weight.Gives an impression of durability.
I am much more concerned with the way it works than the way it looks.

No Touchwiz means no dual view which I find extremely disappointing. I would love to true multitask some things on the tablet.

in times where apple sues you for a rectangular shape this is the result for trying to avoid any legal issues...
I think it is not too bad, can live with it..

Yeah well, it definitely won't win style awards, but it also definitely looks like being designed to be pratical... And I like that!

Maybe this isn't the tablet for you.
But to answer OP's question; I think the design is okay, I wouldn't be embarrassed to be holding one. But next to tablets like the Transformer Infinity and even the iPad. It looks not so good.

nexus 4 looks more nice

The whole 'not trying to look like iPad' thing isn't really an excuse for it to look ugly. The Nexus 4 does not look like an iPhone 5, nor did the Galaxy Nexus look like a 4S. Yet they both look amazingly sleek.

If Google let Asus design the Nexus 10, instead of Samsung, I am pretty sure it will look much much better. Of course, Samsung needed to tweak the design, so Apple won't sue them. That's the reason Samsung come up with this design starting with Galaxy Tab 10.1N, then Note 10.1, so design carried over to Nexus 10.
I agree that Nexus 10 does not stands out like iPad, but believe the specs and pure Android 4.2 will be the biggest selling point.
I am still debating whether or not should grab Nexus 10 since already have Nexus 7 (loving it!). But considering how good Nexus 7 is, I might not stop myself and order one!!

im sorry i dont like it hehe
im prefer sony

Looks to me are pretty much irrelevant. I'm not saying it is ugly or pretty or anything like that. I just don't really care, so I don't think about it. Function is what matters to me. How something looks and what others think about those looks is the kind of thing Apple fans tend to obsess over (and no I don't mean that as a dig toward the original poster).
Those kinds of things just don't really matter to me. It's function/usability does.
I will say this about the design: I like the high resolution display but really wish they hadn't gone quite that far in the pixel count unless they were going to put an even faster CPU/GPU in. I also wish they had added microSD. I will wait to pass judgement on the shape until I've had a chance to use one since I don't know if I will like how this shape works for me yet. I do like the 16:9 aspect ratio.

To me it's borderline ugly The strip to attach a back cover is atrocious. But if it has great performance and bright crisp display i'm willing to look past the design.

2560*1600p screen is better than my 23" lol !

Thing is, ever try to USE the Prime/Infinity for long periods? That metal gets uncomfortable fairly quickly, and those whirls in the back retain an unsettling amount of biological matter in a short period of time.
I have a Tab 8.9 LTE, which has a soft touch back (looks to be much the same stuff they're using on the N10), with rounded corners, and it's comfortable for hours. Granted, it's not a brick like a 10" Transformer Infinity (and the N10 will weigh about the same), but the materials used go a long way towards making it more comfortable.
Not to mention letting Google/Samsung sell it at a competitive price, because machining aluminium or magnesium is far more expensive than injection molding plastic, especially on a device the size of a tablet.
You want a more premium device, hold out for the next-gen Samsung or Asus tablets that are sure to show up at CES early next year.
25x16 IPS/PLS screens will be commonplace, Samsung will quite likely have a quad-core Exynos 5 ready by then, Asus will be using something like the S4 Pro or Tegra 4. And they'll be "sexier", made out of more costly materials.
But they won't be stock AOSP, they will be more expensive, and they're several months off, not a week and some change.
If Google let Asus design the Nexus 10, instead of Samsung, I am pretty sure it will look much much better.

And if Google let Asus design the Nexus 10, it would have light bleed, screen lift, and just about every other problem that's been endemic to the Transformer (and N7) line. I love my N7 for what it does, hate the fact that I'm on unit #4. I've owned every model of Transformer (OG, Prime, Pad, Infinity) and had to either RMA, return, or sell every one of them. Same with their Zenbooks. Asus makes sexy looking devices, but they can't control quality at ALL.
Samsung's industrial design wins no awards for beauty, but they build their devices MUCH better than Asus. My two year old original Galaxy Tab is still rock solid, as is my year-old-and-much-used Tab 8.9 LTE. And the Tab 10.1 I bought last year and gave to my sister is also holding up great.

I bought an ipad 2, but I keep grabbing my Prime

I finally decided to go buy an iPad 2 because of the price drop. I convinced myself that I wanted the app selection that the iPad has. But for some strange reason, the iPad is leaving me unfulfilled and I keep grabbing the prime. Once you go android its almost impossible to go back to iOS without feeling like you need more. Don't get me wrong, the apps are great on the iPad but...........its just not right.
This exactly is what I keep trying to tell my iPhone friends when they ask why I keep buying Android phones and devices. It isn't as if there is anything really wrong with the iPhone or iPad. They are honestly really great devices. However once you have played with an Android phone for a while, the lack of options in iDevices can be frustrating.
Thats how it is with apple As long as you just use apple stuff you feel like its the best thing in the world. I know various people (switzerland is apple land) that tell me in all honesty that iTunes is the best program for music and connecting mobile devices to a home PC.
I also felt that when i had my ipod touch and a cheap nokia brick phone back in the days that with my jailbroken ipod touch i could do everything i could imagine. Until i bought my DHD and put CWM recovery on it. I have next to no programing/coding/compiling knowledge but i was able to make my own themes and put toghether my own mods and .zips (UOT kitchen ftw) and edit roms with bootanimations etc in no time.
lulz i went OT again
I believe you. I think the world hasnt realized yet how great android works for tablets especially if you add that dock. I really hope Android will get the primary dev platform for Tablet apps. Apple makes great products but its just sad that they put everything in their own special garden (app store) where only special people (apple users) have access. Figuratively speaking.
I have a dream where devs can make ARM/OpenGL apps. And those apps just work on any ARM device, no matter if android iOS or Windows on ARM.
iOS is boring. Same ol Same ol. Simple for the kids to use.
Android was meant to be on a tablet. Widgets, cool notifications. alot more
customization. More eye appeal.
Apple has some good hardware there. The real question is iOS really a tablet
solution? iOS works for the kiddies, old etc. Its simple and familar to everyone.
But, just doesn't cut it for me. Especially when you see Android and what you can do with it.
Turn on either machine, get past the lock screen to the home screen and which one makes you say "Oh yeahhhh!" compared to "Ick. I hear 8 bit nintendo sounds in my head". Its visceral which is better in terms of the pride of ownership.
But I give up.
I will need both. I just can't take notes (as I've whined about almost everywhere) on the Prime and I *need*/*want* a great multitracker/amp emulator/music creation option on a tablet.
So anyone have a great deal on a black WiFi 32MB iPad2? I promise to not let it molest my prime.
(who am I kidding...the Prime would be doing the molesting...)
I'm over my Ipad now that I have the prime. I just let daughter n woman use it now. I have no interest or desire to use it anymore. 99% of the apps I have on Ipad I have on Android now. I only miss playing infinity blade2 and Broken Sword series. I also had tons of great photo editing software on Ipad. Android needs this badly. Photo editing sux on Android aside from adobe apps. But I had Ipad photo apps that blow away the adobe ones as far as editing features n such goes.
All in all, Ipad did me well for 2yrs. Time to move on to bigger n better things. The prime. Plus I find I don't play the games as much anymore on my prime compared to my Ipad. Although I have majority of the dame games. Just seems like Prime/Android is a more grown up experience.

I bought a prime, and i keep grabbing my...er...nevermind.
My new ipad vs my tf201
The local store gave me $200 to exchange my ipad 1 so I took the plunge and picked up the new ipad. I have a family of 5 so we keep a couple of tablets...now a couple of nice ones.
My observations:
ipad:
-screen is great...colour saturation is very good as is black level.
-video looks spectacular. Text is e-ink sharp.
-no backlight bleed.
-speed? Well some things are faster than the ipad 1 of course...but most apps I use had no speed bottleneck on the ipad 1.
Dungeon defenders runs like butter compared to ipad 1...but the resolution is still scaled from 1024x768...so you still have the aliasing, etc....looks just like the ipad 2 until they update these apps for retina.
Switching back to the prime though and I find very little to choose...the 1280x800 screen is still excellent for a screen this size.
TF201:
-I give the ipad just a slight edge...not a deal breaker though. A 1080p TF701 will be every bit the equal of the ipad 3 screen wise.
-I have to say that after a few months I really prefer the android customizations and widgets on the home screen.
-The ipad 3 feels quite a bit heavier...the TF201 really sets the bar for being thin and light...and this is not to be understated.
-app support of course is better with ipad...my family loves playing with garage band for example....and this kind of support is (as everyone knows) the only real thing holding back android at the moment
-flash support still matters for me in my daily usage of these devices
So bottom line...which one would I prefer in my bag while travelling? For browsing, email, docs, and most of my regular usage...its the tf201 for now. The customizations in android win it for me. For my kids and my wife? The ipad with the app support wins the day.
I will post some wifi tests when I get back home.

good comparison. thanks. have you tried to run any apps you have on both devices. like tegra3 version of Shadowgun vs. Ipad shadowgun? I already know which the better version but just want to see if you notice any graphical improvements on Ipad. so most apps so far have been upscaled? do they look like blown up iPhone apps? any chance you can post a screenshot of the same wallpaper on both devices? to compare quality. or take a pic of both.
Thanks for the comparison.
Thanks for the quick comparison of the two.

Good review. I also found the color saturation to be amazing. It really has that Sammy look and feel. The maximum level of brightness was higher than I expected. I really can't wait to try out Namco's Sky Gamblers Air Supremacy to see this hardware really in action. Infinity Blade 2 got a resolution update for the new iPad's screen. For apps there's no comparison between the new iPad and Prime.
The ONLY thing that stands out on the Prime for me is the awesome Live My Wallpaper...I love it.. and the netbook setup. I'd have to say that outside of games/video, I prefer the feel of the Prime.
I have been on the fence about choosing between the two as well. I have 2 small children that really enjoy playing with my OG 7 inch galaxy tab. However, they were blown away by a friend's ipad. I will probably get one of the refurb models of the ipad 2 from the apple store so I can still get my transformer prime.
thx for the comparison. I can totally see your points. So you say in the end the ipad is more of a very nice toy, and the prime is a bit more business oriented, while being very equal otherwise. Of course for me there are many other +'s for the prime because i'll use it for University and i love to play older games with that gamepad on emulators
So a friend of mine wants to buy an ipad soon (he's one of those apple guys) if money is an issue (they'll have a kid soon) would you say the new ipad is worth the extra money compared to the ipad 2?
I like the Prime more than my new iPad just because iOS hasn't changed at all so it gets pretty boring. The screen is really stunning but in reality, I really think of it as just an over sized iPod like many others. Not that I'm saying it's not a great device but Apple really needs something new on the software side of things.

I don't think it's worth an extra $200 the only noticeable difference you will see it the screen and the 2 is also lighter and thinner.
Nice unbiased comparison. I really think the infinity tab will be the one to beat this year (although I'm sure apple fans will claim supremacy)

Good review. Yes, I went down to local BB and did about the same for the kids. The new screen on the New iPad is really sharp. I was surprised just how sharp web pages are. Pretty amazing. Usually when you zoom in on text with iPad 2 it gets blurred. This thing didn't blur at all.
I didn't notice any lightbleed from mine either. HOWEVER... If you look at an 170 degree angle under the black bezel of the new iPad. And I mean way under there. It was not totally sealed. Some slight light was coming thru. Oh well. I didn't see any lightbleed coming onto the screen. That is what counts.
Kids are happy. I am happy. Prime still is my beast. HD youtube. Diceplayer 1080p video and etc still looks a hell of alot better on the prime. And its faster. Plus I would never use iOS over Android. iOS blows so much.

When is the infinity tab scheduled to be released?

Is this Samsung Galaxy S 3 ?

Well well well we have all been waiting for this ? Your thoughts ? Is this the real deal http://installornot.com/news-2/phonestablets/android/rumor-is-this-the-samsung-galaxy-s-iii-sgs3/
It looks very slim and "looks real" enough. The edges, however, does not have that usual Samsung Galaxy phone feel in my opinion.
Lets hope the specs are real though, it will quite a blast
looks really good, i'm curious about the price
Looks real enough, but so have many other leaks!
Touchwiz 4 would be pretty disappointing, was quite looking forward to seeing what Touchwiz 5 would be like...
If thats real I'd be quite disappointed aesthetics wise. I much prefer my S2. Although I'm really interested in seeing some real info about specs.
I was hoping for one with no side.
sent from my Zerg Hatchery.
It looks as if the image was on a screen, and someone used a camera to take a picture of it. In my opinion, anything can be photoshopped. Unless there was a picture of a flyer at a Samsung convention, I'm not convinced.
My gut reaction is to say its one helluva a photoshop job.
That being siad, I hope those specs are real. My captivate could use an upgrade.
Something about the border around the screen doesn't seem right. Can't place my finger on it. Also the screen feels a little too elongated. I'm leaning towards photoshopped.
All these rumors.
Samsung probably has a problem with inserting new technologies in such a thiny case
looks good,,.how much is the price.?
deleted.... perception is backwards
Don't think so ... or not unless i see some official announcement.
Never liked Sammy design (sof and hardware wise), but the phone itself design looks really nice (not even close to Xperia 2012, but really nice)
It looks very nice.
I don't think so!
But long time waiting is a hassle so when it comes out disappoints all its lovers
If it has capacitive touch screen buttons and a quadcore exynos 4412 I will be passing. That processor uses the same GPU found in the Galaxy SII which has since been outclassed by several phones on the market (e.g. iphone 4S, HTC Qualcomm S4 snapdragon phones, etc. etc.)
Is it genuine?? Not bad though!
Few things to note here:
First, Weber Shandwick is a reputed PR firm. They have worked for Samsung in past ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weber_Shandwick ). From what I read, they represent Samsung in Germany.
Another example: GS2 White launch party organized by this firm

The date -- 22nd May is around the same time when the torch relay will be held. I think it starts on May 20. Samsung is the major sponsor for this Olympics. Perfect time for Samsung to gain attention of the world!
http://www.samsung.com/uk/london2012/
The photo looks like to have been taken from a screen/monitor. It shows those usual jaded lines.
http://goo.gl/UeKHl
There is some area in top-right where the "photo" seems to show black background. It's as if whoever took the photo covered more area and then deleted rest of the photo. This shows ( http://i.imgur.com/6QpN4.jpg ) dual speakers. If it's fake, somebody went through a lot of pain to actually do this.
Normally all fakes are made too elegantly or just too good to be true. This on other hand looks "different".
EDIT: Attached images..
Also note the similarity between this "Leak" and the recently launched Galaxy Player 4.2:
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IpOyucUvC4o/T03ow3FLsSI/AAAAAAAALxk/dxhMK3fM6bQ/s1600/Samsung50.jpg
The leak is more refined and thinner in design.
I'm really interested to see how it feels with the ceramic back it is rumored to have, one of my major problems with Samsung phones were their plasticy/cheap feeling in your hand.
I couldn't use a phone that thin made of Samsung's plastic.

Anyone else think that the GS3 is the nicest looking phone now?

I was a huge fan of the GS2 look when it first came out. So much so that when the GS3 was unveiled, I thought it was the ugliest thing ever with the egg shaped looking curves and the pebble blue. I was so disappointed with the unveiling and so impressed with how Sexy the Xperia S videos and felt that it was a natural evolution of the GS2 look so I got an Xperia S instead. Then everyone started saying how nice the One X looked and I gave it a chance but never liked the look or the performance really. So I bit the bullet and got the GS3 since the look was sort of growing on me and was shocked that I loved the blue and the GS3 looked a lot less humpty dumpty in person than it does in the pictures. So, I thought my impressions would change and I would say the Xperia S is the nicest looking phone after the GS3 honey moon period ended.
Fast forward to now and every time I look at my phone I am saying to myself damn it looks nice but brushed it off. Then when I went to Bestbuy the other day for fun, there I saw the GS3 dummy model right next to the GS2 dummy model and it really sunk in to me. The GS3 looked light years better and now I even think the GS3 looks better than the Xperia S.
Anyone else come full circle from thinking that the GS3 was butt ugly but now think that it is the nicest looking phone ever?

Lol. I actually have all your choices well below except the IPhone but that is top 5 at best. The EVO and the Nexus, nowhere near my Radar.
Best looking look wise to me would be.
1. GS3 blue
2. Xperia S Black
3. GS2
4. Xperia P
5. iPhone 4
6. Meizu MX
Galaxy Nexus would be like last and same with Nexus S. lol
The LG Prada looks quite nice too.
It is nice, but not nicest. Most elegant is iPhone IMO
Agree I phone defiantly sleekest
But I totally get the Samsung design it's simple yet beautiful and very functional and comfortable.
If only it was made out of aluminium and Kevlar like the razr now that would beat the iPhone but I ain't complaining love s3 to bits!

I'm sorry but no dude, I understand that's your opinion and the iPhone looks nice but not the best looking, not at all. I think the HOX is the best looking smartphone EVER.
I will give the pebble blue S3 the second best looking phone ( this year). It looks stunning and classy.

Totally agree.....the iPhone is just tired now....I find it the least appealing phone on the market.....
The SGS3 no way.....its nice.....that's where I draw the line....in fact I am a huge samsung fanboy have had a Vibrant, Captivate, SGSII, Note.....just not feeling this phone at all....its a weird Nexus....
I will give my vote to the H1X....say what you will about the thing but it sure does look sweet and overall build and feel blows the SGS3 away....
IMO

For it to look good it would have to be of better durability. I don't even know how mine got a small scratch after two weeks, my (previous) 3months old Nexus is pristine and I abused it with keys in same pocket and throwing it.
But the performance is excellent thats half of what matter, the other is developments.
I enjoy the look of the Nexus S and Nexus most with the curve screen. Thats include the way the screen look, coming back to flat screen is strange afterward.
Idk, I dont find HOX as half as appealing as SGS3....but this is personal preference I guess:
1. Pebble blue S3
2. HOX
3. Samsung galaxy note
4. LG optimus 4X HD
5. Samsung galaxy Nexus/nexus S
6. iPhone
Why no xperia series? Dont like their design at all, especially not xperia S (darn they are so ugly). And yes didnt like S3 at all first, but its great looking once you see it live

loved the S3 when it was shown off in London in May at the unpacked event. The day it came to stores in Germany I went to get it..as soon as the guy opened the box to show me the phone, I LOVED IT!!!!!! :highfive::highfive: best looking phone...Iphone is just a boring brick shaped paperweight
s3 is a true beauty... I like it much more than the old idevice.
For me GS3 is the best looking phone atm in the market!.. I dont know.. Iphone 4 and 4s..same design and when it came out it was nice...But now among other phones it just looks like a piece of brick for me.. And heavy one as well..lol
My list =
1. Gs3
2. HTC ONe X
3. Arc S
4. Galaxy Nexus
5. G Note
6. Sensation XE
For me best looking device is HTC one x.
I can't believe you guys think the HOX look better than the S3. It's an abomination in comparison.
Also, the iPhone. Way too much bezel on that phone. As much of the face of the phone as possible should be covered by the screen.
But I do agree with you OP, when the S3 was announced I was also disappointed: the phone looked absolutely horrible. But it has since grown on me so much I now regard it as the best looking phone there is.
Pff, HOX better looking, what a joke...
I see most of users say that SGS3 is on first place.
What about color, blue or white?
I gonna bye it for 10 days, but i am thinkin about color.
I have seen white, its nice. I dont have seen blue, just on pictures...
Suggestions?
I guess i can ask that on this topic ...
Am I the the only one who thinks the camera bulge on the back of the hox is terminally ugly, and also incredibly stupid as far as making the risk of scratching the lens very high?
I love the way this phone feels in my hand.
Before seeing both in a shop, I definitely thought the HOX was significantly better looking. But in the shop, in person, my opinion changed. I like both.
What I find is that the GS3 fits in my hand super well. And compared to my Droid X, it's actually easier to use one-handed.
I was never a fan of the GS2 home button or back camera. Something about it felt out-dated, squarish, and lacking refinement. I prefer both on the GS3-- smaller, less bezel on those parts, less protruding looking.
I love the front and side view of the white GS3. I think the front, particularly the proximity sensor/camera/earpiece area looks nicely arranged. I'm less thrilled looking at the GS3 face-down, where the big, white, back looks more plasticky and cartoonish-- particularly the rounded corners/bottom edges.
I find the blue GS3 pretty ugly. The semi metal, shiny, purply-blue pseudo-brushed metal look just doesn't appeal to me. Though my GF prefers it to the white. So go figure. Personal preference, like all these things go.
So yeah, ultimately I find it a pretty attractive phone. I worry that the white will wear on me over time though. And if a real black had been available... I may have gone in that direction (white is a nice change for me, but not sure how it'll hold up both physically and in my opinion over time). Either way, I don't care thaaat much what my phone looks like. Usability and features weigh much more heavily in my decision making process; I probably wouldn't have even looked at/considered the GS3 if the HOX had micro SD and a better battery (removable doesn't matter that much to me if the battery is outstanding)... but I'm glad I did. Both are excellent, good-looking, phones.

TF201 vs S2110

Anyone have any opinions or experience on whether it's better to go with the TF201 or S2110 from Lenovo? I found the S2110 16GB w/ keyboard for $399 and it seemed too good to pass up. I'm worried though because I haven't seen any reviews and the most comparable device seems to be the TF201. How do you think the S2110 stacks up against it?
http://www.lenovo.com/products/us/tablet/ideapad/s2110/
Don't think the dock is included for that price... (Unless you're not referring to the lenovo site). But yeah, wondering the same thing... Looks pretty good and would love to give it a try but haven't found any reviews yet.
I would want the 3g one but it's not listed

I don't know if you are interested but you can get a TF300 with free keyboard from Sears for 359.00.

I found a special deal on the S2110 for $399 including the keyboard dock so I went ahead and pulled the trigger on it. There are literally zero reviews of this thing so I'll post up a YouTube video once it arrives. I have a Nexus7 and a Samsung GS3 but honestly I feel here is too much overlap between the two. I'm hoping the S2110 will give me more of a computing experience similar to what the TF201 offers. Worst case scenario if I don't like the S2110 I'll sell it and pickup an Asus device.

Normally I wouldn't but given the great deal I got I can likely sell it for little to no loss.
Lenovo is a good brand, the only concern is that it's not sure the community devels will be very active, so you could be stuck with branded ROM and so on.
I was able to get my hands on this tablet for a week 2 weeks ago. Alas, I didn't get the keyboard dock with it. I did some quick benchmarks:
AnTuTu Benchmark - 6781
Quadrant - 4797
Vellamo - 2203
CF-Bench Over all Score - 9261
SunSpider - 1930.1 ms
Battery Test. I looped a 42 minute 720p MKV file with screen at 50% brightness and wifi always connected. Tablet last 9h 14m.
I have taken screen shots of all the tests. If we compare to the results table on this review, http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/28/nexus-7-review/ , the Lenovo lands in the middle of the ASUS Transformer Prime and the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 in terms of benchmark results.I can say I quite like this tablet and it's responsiveness. It has a custom launcher, but I like it. Other than that, it looks like Ice Cream Sandwich is left alone. Speakers are fairly loud compared to previous tablets. Viewing angle on the screen is great. Oh and the screen itself is very nice! There is a little creakiness to the case- I would say it was similar to what I had in the Asus Transformer. I really dislike the power button- it is plastic-y and hard to push, but manageable.
I got a great deal at $374 INCLUDING keyboard dock, so I am fairly confident for the price it will be a great tablet. But my ordering experience from Lenovo has been an absolute nightmare.
I just took my TF700 back owing to bluetooth audio lag problems (which Asus says will be "improved" but not fixed in a future OTA) and I'm hoping the S2110 will be the answer to my keyboard + bluetooth audio prayers...
Just got my 2110
I just got my 2110 with the keyboard today. It wouldn't have been my first choice because of the lack of dev community, but I got it for free from my companies Lenovo rep.
So far it is extremely smooth and the keyboard is more useful than I thought it would be.
It is thin, light weight, and although it is mostly plastic it still feels well built.
The interface that Lenovo adds is minimal and kinda useless, but has some nice features. It changes the way widgets are added, the way wallpapers are changed, and it has some transition options for the home screen and app drawer. Other than that it is stock ICS.
I really do like this tablet, and as soon as the dev community picks up buying this would be a no-brainer in my opinion.

About the keyboard dock, you could use conbination keys just like in windows such as : "alt+tab" to switch between in different running apps. "ctrl+alt+delete" to show all the running apps and even "ctrl+c""ctrl+v" to copy and paste texts

considering getting my money back...

So Ive been playing with the nexus 10 since last friday. The device is nice, I like it. First, My device has light bleed. And my 1st replacement is worse than the original. I will see if my 2nd replacement is any better. In the meantime, I consider requesting a refund. I never thought of returning this before. However, the more I use it, I realized pure android is not what I expected. I have a note 10.1 so I compare this with the nexus.
First, I always thought touchwiz sucked. well, indeed it sucks (lags), but it has some cool features that pure android don't. FOr ex, the quick settings in touchwiz is more convenient with more options. like on touchwiz, when you touch "wifi", it will turn off and on immediately. On nexus 10, it will take you to the wifi settings. also I hate the space waste of the status bar.okay well, this is just a minor thing.
2nd, video player. The note plays just everything I throw at it. And the nexus don't. and you have to do a lot of modification to get it work. BS player can play them fine, but it is not fully supported yet so it crashes. and video quality on BSplayer is worse than other players like MX (but MX doesn't have sound playing mkv :/)
3rd, Apps. I know it's just too soon to complain but apps are not supported on the nexus 10 yet. Icons are blurry. apps lag on the nexus 10 because of too many pixels. I hope this will be fixed soon but considering there are many tablets out there that does not have 300 pixels per inch like the nexus. Not sure if ALL developers will adjust their apps to get it supported on the nexus any soon. I've got frustrated with the nexus so I found myself on my Note more.
4th, battery. well batter is not bad, but not good either. It's acceptable and I wish it could be better. ALso, slow charge (this might be fixed in near future thanks to the pogo but no one knows if it's gonna be released or not). average battery + slow charge. seems like a perfect combination...
I will make final decision on friday depending on the condition of my 2nd replacement. if it has worse light bleed then Im done with this. Too tired to send it back. I still want to keep it cause it's a nice thing to have. (oh and Im not interested in the ipad, that's why I didn't compare this with the ipad). SO yeah... anyone feels free to have opinion. I kinda need someone to convince me to keep it.
And i totally understand you.
Despite of that, i'm not gonna ask for refund, since this is the only android tablet quite usable, fluid etc.
Battery is quite disappointing, can't get more than 5.5 hours onscreen, can't understand how users get 8.X hours of this, wifi off? minimum brightness? Pointless.
Screen is, well, i though this screen would be on pair with cellphones, but it isn't, brightness, contrast, are not as good as were supposed. And light bleed, the thing many people say is in every single lcd display. Well, if a defective product is usual for you... despite 40% of the LCDs have it, ok, but it doesn't mean its usual.
The only thing that 'wowed' me was the sound, pretty amazing.
Btw i also love touchwiz in my galaxy S3, 0 lags there.
same here in all points, mine is going back too
In addition: the build quality is good on first impression but really really sucks in real!
I'm loosing Wifi all the time
The UI in the middle is just ridiculous
it's freezing and restarting
mkv's are lagging
in summary it's just disappointing after one week
Only thing that I'm not too "happy" about is the performance of some games on the Nexus 10. I was expecting GTA III to be easily playable on highest settings, but it runs at pretty low FPS, with the "Screen Resolution" setting being the biggest hit it seems, being tied to the extreme resolution of the Nexus 10. I was also very surprised with the performance of "Beats" (music game with DDR and osu! gamemodes). Something that looks "that" simple gives about 30-40 FPS somehow...
Aside from those 2 games though, everything else seems to run fine, performance wise. Kinda just want to get a controller and keyboard/stand for the N10, and I think it'll be perfect
I'll be keeping my Nexus 10 though Mainly because I want to try to get into Android Development, and so far the N10 seems to have the best specs of any Android tablet (currently).

yeah the nexus 10 is the best android tablet you should buy at the moment, hands down. But my note doesn't have light bleed at all. and touchwiz only lags on the Note tablet. I have the S3 too and it doesn't lag.

(Im not talking about real HD movies you buy from google play but those mkv that you downloaded). those blu ray mkv's resolution is not high enough for a screen like the nexus. On the note, it looks smoother.

Cheer up the Nexus is awesome. Mine has no bleed or any issues. Your first Nexus left a bad taste in your mouth. Get past it and you'll be good.
2. QQ Player for videos.
3. Apps will come with time.
4. Charge isn't great but any micro USB can charge it and that's a big plus.

Keeping mine as long as it lives.. totally love it.. havn't noticed any light bleed at all.. but then again im not looking for it tried playing asphalt 7 and nfs.. and both played fine.. but those types of games blow goats on a tablet.. so 100% happy
happy with nexus
I gotta say I'm pretty happy with this nexus tablet. I've never had a tablet before and besides spending limited time on my wife's iPad I never had a notion to get a tablet. I don't hamve the light bleed and my tablet shipped and arrived exactly when it was supposed to. So not negative to say other than the battery. I'm with the other guy. 5.5 hours is about all I can get. I can't wait for a case for this thing.

Thats what i meant with the lightbleed issue, not every single tablet leaks, here there are some users that, since they have so MUCH hope for this tablet, say that lightbleed is usual in every single tablet, and thats not truth.
And i repeat, i'm gonna keep this, but Google haven't done a good job with this. Problems, meh screen, poor performance (specially with chrome), no accesories, their shop was and is a mess.... And i say this after thinking that nexus 10 should be the device that makes android tablets take off. If i compare nexus 10 with other android tablets, it obviously is great, but not such a flagship (or ipad killer, as many people likes to say) as was spected.
Also coming from a Note 10.1. Overall, I like the Note 10.1 better. What the Note 10.1 lacks in resolution makes up with more vibrant display, better blacks, no backlight bleed, clearer sound, etc. Nexus 10 battery is not a concern since I was planning to use it as a desktop/laptop alternative but now I find out that HDMI output is laggy. Having reservations and thinking maybe I should hold off for Samsung's new tablet or updated Note 10.1 or just getting the Note II. They mistakenly shipped me a 16GB instead of 32GB so if the replacement unit that's coming Friday still has issues I'm probably going to ask for a refund.
I came from the Note 10.1 , personally, can't stand TW, and as far as the pulldowns go, you will see the same thing once the note 10.1 is updated to 4.2 which it does not have, "officially".
Personal opinion is the display is far superior on the Nexus 10, also standard micro usb compared to sammy connector.
I think the sound is better on the Nexus, but not by much.
I am one of the lucky ones, mine has no light bleed, although my note 10.1 had some, not bad but it was there.
So all and all I am happy with the Nexus 10, but it is a personal choice, IF I was currently going to have another tablet it would be the Note 10.1 or the new transformer.
just my .02
I would go Ativ tab 10.1 or surface pro before even considering a note 10.1 or infinity.

Ativ Tab 10.1 is nice hardware but terrible UI with Windows 8 and weak app selection. Surface Pro is too pricey just for touch input. I can always upgrade to Windows 8 for $15 on my laptop but haven't bothered with the hassle since it doesn't really offer much.
Interesting thread...definitely makes me appreciate my N7 even more.

IF I wasn't impressed with the N10, I would absolutely steer clear of Asus' Transformer line of tablets IMO. I bought the Prime (TF201) when it first came out & the Infinity Pad (TF700) after returning the latter. They both had the typical I/O sloppiness and general lag that proves the "it has 4 cores" argument is a poor one lol.
Bottom line - I've spent most of the day with the N10 and have been thoroughly impressed. If any issues do arise...its a Nexus so unlocking the boot loader to improve performance won't void my warranty...

I'm not totally enthralled by either. First one had dust laminated in the display and some backlight bleed. My new one has bleed in both the bottom corners, but it is slightly worse. Even at 0% brightness in a completely dark room I can still make it out, I mean it doesn't stand out, but I can still see the faintest outline. Idk if I will send it back. I really don't want to get one that has worse bleed. I may just put up with this minor inconvenience until next year when the n10 2 comes out.
A lot of the issues mentioned will be fixed with software or firmware updates. Remember this is the early adopter problem.
Also dev roms will crush bugs or improve battery, add features, etc.
I love my N10.
Have no light bleed, or maybe I do but did not notice anything.
Its extremely smooth.
Yes there is some wasted screen sapcd with the new UI but all will be fixed with custom roms.
And mist of the apps I was using on my iPad are available on market and look good for me.
All in all, within a couple of weeks this thing will be a monster.
I love this tablet. Zero backlight bleeding I can see during normal use, no dead or stuck pixels, amazing build quality, BEAUTIFUL display (I noticed how much better it was than my iPad 3s the instant money turned it on) . and great battery life. Certainly the battery doesn't last as long as the iPads (it has a smaller battery) but I got 9hours of screen on time today and 14 hours total surfing, playing the odd game or two, checking emails etc. The odd freezing issue will be fixed through an update I'm confident. Most of these issues are resulting from the fact that we are early adopters to a brand new device.
Return it if you're not happy with it. What's the point in announcing it to the rest of the community?
Makes no sense. Hope you're happy with whatever you get to replace it.
