Porting windows phone is to Samsung galaxy ace - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Hi friends,
I wonder if it's possible to port windows phone operating system to Samsung galaxy ace. I have seen some videos of low end Nokia lumia devices having similar specs as that of Ace. They have specs lower than that of ace especially lumia 510. Heard that windows phone os is less lagging
It would be great if someone can give valuable feedback

Why dont buy a Lumia then?

Porting of wp8 is impossible.
But porting of wp7 would be possible like on the htc hd2. The only problem is that wp is closed source and we havent got windows drivers which the hd2 for example has because it is a wm6.5 phone and not only an android phone like our ace. Im not a dev but i would say: its almost impossible but as we can see our poor device can even run android 4.1 smoothly.
And before the development started many many devs said it would be very very hard to run ics on the ace and it would never run smoothly but as we can all see it worked and its possible. The only thing we need is is a group of very high quality devs like the jellaxy.

Windows on PSP, just dosbox, you can run all windows that are older then ME on Ace too, just need dosbox and some hacking.

I've contacted my buddy Bill Gates, he told me that he'll send me the source tomorrow. Also, he has ordered his programmers to write all the libraries and drivers for Ace to run WP8. So it's possible now.

Window 7.5 mango on Android?

I am owner of Verizon Fascinate. Some people told me that windows 7.5mango or other windows mobile os can be installable on Verizon Fascinate or other android device.
Is that possible ?
It's possible, but the chances of anyone ever porting it (besides Enyo lol) are slim. The chances of someone porting anything near useful is...next to none.
Given enough time and money, anything is possible. I suspect that your friend is referring to apps and launchers that are available in the Market that will give your android phone the look and feel of those other OSs UI. See Launcher 7 in the android Market. There are several iPhone launchers also.
There is a Rom being developed at the moment.
With a full complete Windows Phone 7 UI. Even the folders homebrew patch to the launcher.
Its called Cinnamon Rom.
vibrant / Captivate / Unlocked GSM Versions are Fully Supported.

not that i actually believe that he ported windows phone 7 to the sgs phones
but if he did he ll get sued by microsoft...the only phones that its ok to port windows mobile os/wp7 to are native windows phone
ie the hd2 can run any windows cuz its a licensed windows device and has android/meego/etc ported to it
you are not allowed legally to release windows products on non licensed devices

Hey guys, welcome in my thread!
I'm netchip, a young boy who likes to mod sources and phones, I said I'll bring AOSP to our SGS2, as we speak, here it is! It's clean from other things than AOSP. Pure AOSP, clean as possible. It's tested properly and it works very smooth . I'll update this when there's a new Android version out, like 4.0.4, but I need sources. The bugs are the same as CM9, youtube works properly. It's deodexed, has light GApps, and you need to enable sync in Settings before it does sync . No Facebook sync included because it isn't AOSP. They simply must update their app. If you need a modded version I'll refer to Paradoxxx's thread, I do help him with his development!
If you donate it goes into a fund for buying me a gnex (galaxy nexus), so I can easily test my new mods out and then port it to our SGS2. Trust me, I'll keep supporting the SGS2 .

Thanks for taking a look, Skyrocket forums are trying, but not much progress being made, Not that theyre not doing a hell of a job, its just a pain in the rear for this device imparticular. Ive been looking all over online not much help anywhere as far as development goes. The galaxy note (US) and the Hercules (T989) are similar, the Hercules almost identical, with exception of modem.

You should tell people everything you say on IRC
First, you're not testing the build on your own phone, we don't even know if you really have an SGS2. Your mom doesn't let you root your phone. You haven't done a lot of work on this ROM: It's mainly copy&paste of CM9 Galaxy S II device tree into AOSP, it's not like you actually -did- something.
Okay I agree, not everyone likes CM9 and some prefer pure AOSP, that's a matter of taste. But it's definately not worth giving a penny to a 12 years old boy which change opinion every other day ("I want an SGS3", next day "I want a Galaxy Nexus", next day "I want an HTC quadcore, f*ck samsung!", and now he wants a GNex again), and that NEVER contributed to the SGS2 development...
He says he'll keep on supporting SGS2, but how is he supporting right now? He's just doing a stripped copy and paste of CM9... If WE fix something then he'll "kang" it and put it into his ROM. He didn't even credited Team Hacksung yet, he "plans" to do it soon... Knowing from the beginning that it's based at 99% on our work.
You should remember that he also distributed a non-tested Galaxy Note kernel (he doesn't owns one), and plan to do so with other devices as well. This could've fully-bricked device... He is definately not someone you can trust, believe me.
Now if you want to give him money, go ahead. But I warned you.
somebody needs to go stand in the corner!

Lol i can't stand it when people reply to threads like this with - ' we don't have cmxx yet then how will we make this ' . If nobody ever tried building cm we wouldn't have had that either - you have to put some effort to achieve something - Having or not having a source build vanilla android (cyanogen) port doesn't have anything to do with porting other open source os's . There are many other hurdles or minimum requirements that our devices doesn't meet but i can assure you that mozilla have never said that a device without stable cm port won't run firefox os
And yes its possible to port firefox os even - x8 had an alpha port but they had open source drivers for adreno gpu which is not our case so
et too brute !

Is it possible to get iPhone on Android?

yup, what you have to do here is place your love phone on Android device and there you go. If you meant to install ios on Android device, than thank to Apple and God if you believe in one that it is not possible

Fortunately? Everyone has different preferences, reminds me of the stupid Mac fanboys who ***** out people who ask for some Windows features OSX doesn't have. You can install Windows on a Mac and with some skills you can install Android on an iPhone so I can't see why it'd be so wrong for somebody to ask this.
In answer to your question, you can't, but there's a launcher on the play store called iLauncher which will make your phone's home screen behave and look exactly like that of iOS, and it's super fast and responsive, even adds coloured square backgrounds to icons like the Gakaxy S/S2. There are also apps to sync it up with iTunes. You can't, however, run any iOS exclusive apps.

This is a very Android biased forum, iOS is seen as inferior by most users including me. I don't see why someone would prefer iOS over Android.
Also, anybody who knows anything about technology knows that Apple chooses to keep their OSes very very closed and we simply don't have the resources to recreate iOS on another device.
OP also asked to get "iPhone on Android" which is very vague. Which Android is he talking about?

We could say the same about Windows Phone 7, yet we got it on HD2 and Toshiba TG01.
The problem with iOS is that Apple uses their own variations of hardware (their own chipset, custom GPUs) and writes software which works only on it. This way the OS is very optimised, so technically weak phones (512MB of RAM in iPhone 4S is sufficient?! HOW?!) work very fluently, I could say they work even better than some high-end Androids. Because of these reasons, we can't have iOS on any other device.

Indeed, unless we emulated the iphones hardware there would be no way to run IOS, and to emulate hardware you require much much more powerful hardware so it would be a long time until there was a android device that could emulate a Iphone of current spec
It would require the iOS source code... you could then merge your device source code and build a hacked iOS rom. Either that or some intense reverse engineering and some hacking. But if you did build a hacked iOS rom I suggest not releasing to the public or you will get sued for everything that you're worth.

Because of these reasons, we can't have iOS on any other device.

It's a perfectly ok question... Just visit my YouTube. I have a video of it done... Most are naive and arrogant to check it out. Of course it's possible.

Yes you can if you're jailbroken, but its not worth it because it will be extremely laggy. The Apple Ax processors are not optimized for Android. Or its the other way around. Android was not optimized for the Apple Ax processors.. either way, its not a very welcoming experience

[DEV][YP-G70] Native Linux

Hello all,
I'm working on booting native Linux distributions on the YP-G70. I'm doing this for only the YP-G70, so don't ask about other devices.
This is a developement thread. Please attempt to keep things on topic. Don't ask for ETA.

He is probably working on Linux for GP5. it was a joke lol
Is this real, lol? If so, how did you manage to pull this off?
It seems that penguins have hijacked your player. Maybe this is the beginning of the penguin apocalypse. Soon, Linus Torvalds is gonna reveal that he is actually a penguin in disguise and he will summon all the penguins to take over the world.

Of course it's real. It's all I've gotten, so far. I'm basing it off of Sultan's kernel config. Hopefully I can get somewhere with this.
Well, good luck.

What kind of initramfs are you using? Android init and ADB or busybox or something else?

Currently, I'm not using any. I may have to use one to switch root to the debian/ubuntu partition. I've been stripping away the Android-y parts of the system, so it's mostly traditional GNU/Linux.

Sultan's kernel.
Ok, I know it was a stupid question, but I saw this in a nexus 7 and when I saw the linux penguin I could not help thinking in it. I'm absolutely exhausted about the answers I get of a lot of people. I know I don't know as much as yours about android things, I'm just trying to learn by myself, and life hadn't provided me a good environment to learn english and all these things...
So, I've decided to leave this forum. I don't want to hold this deal anymore. **** you with your great intelligence and android knowledge.

I'm not using Android. I'm trying to make a pure GNU/Linux environment.
To quote the great Samuel L Jackson, "ENGLISH MOTHER****ER, DO YOU SPEAK IT?"

-.- Geez you get carried over for nothing do you? apa is known for trolling people (sorry for classing you into this category @apapousek) as you can see yes he's trying to port a full fledged linux into the galaxy player 5.0. Also you should be happy that people are helping. Some people in the forums are even worse. you should see me at the time I wanted to port CWM over to the galaxy player 4.0 (haha good ol' times XD)
Anyways enough off-topic for me.

I would say this is a fair classification. I like to mess with people if they ask a question that's already been answered. Those posts take away from a development thread, and get annoying after a while.
To keep this post on topic:
I'm now working on a custom initramfs to switch root to the filesystem, and execute /sbin/init. Hopefully, this will allow us to load a variety of different distributions onto our YP-G70s. I'm testing with Ubuntu, though.
I just statically built busybox with the arm-cortex_a8-linux-gnueabi-linaro_4.7.3 toolchain. After I get things working, i'll post full sources and instructions (not detailed) on how to build this yourself.
