Try clearing cache & Dalvik cache.
Download SD Maid to clean up unnecessary files and folders.
Use Titanium Backup to remove bloatware.

If you feel uncomfortable with CF-Root kernel, flash back stock kernel/ROM or try another kernel ... there are many different custom kernels for our phone here on xda.
Have a look at my kernel / stock ROM tests (link in my signature).

Consider changing the title of your thread to get more help as your problem is most likely not related to rooting. It is related to how android partitions internal memory ( /data, /mnt/sdcard).

I didnt understand how to do it!!

Post a screenshot of your battery section in settings.
You could also change governor to "Conservative", to save battery life.

[Q] Some apps not installing afte ICS update.

I used to be Dlev ROM. Before upgrading to ICS, I backed up everything on Titanium Backup PRO.
After updating, most of the Apps restore fine but there are two games which refuse to be installed. Since I'd made a nandroid back up as well, I rolled back to the Dlev ROM and backed those games up again... Still no luck.
This happens with all ICS ROMS I've tried (three of them).
Any idea why/what's happening?
Any help would be appreciated.
Reads like they are not ICS compatible or require a new download .
jje
This also happened during froyos transition to gb way back. Some apps arernt optimize yet for gb. This could be the reason some apps arnt optimize for ics.. just my opinion. I could be wrong..
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Ah, thank you gentlemen!
I'll try redownloading the games. Otherwise I'll just have to wait until they become compatible.

Your even lucky only 2 apps wernt restored on TB. Mine just hangs at around a certain % and i need to force close TB. Went back to gb and just wait for the next updates ( a more solid ics build ). As they say patience is a virtue.

Are you using cfroot kernel?
If so grab the "proper" cfroot kernel because chainfire found and fixed Samsung's hidden check to stop some apps installing.

not a fix but a workaround.....
1) Settings>Storage>Unmount SD card
2) Install app without a problem....
3) Settings>Storage Mount SD card

Anyone on the new LPQ version is advised to flash the PROPER kernel after flashing the ROM.The CF kernel still has the bugs that the previous BETA versions had.

Help with rooting

i just rooted my phone with odin, then using a toolkit i flashed the cwm; idk how to check it it actually worked but according to the kit it did, idk if i should see an app called cwm lol. and also now that it is rooted how can i work with the settings to extend my battery life?
btw im on an s3 att
The process is you Odin to get cwm recovery
And using that recovery you flash a zip that gives you root
If you have the super user app you should have root
If you don't do the the sprint dev sec(regardless of carrier)
In the stickes look for the how to root thread
In that thread there will be a video by qbking77 go to the video on YouTube and it will redirect you to a new updated video that works with all carriers

If your device is rooted and flashed with CWM, you have two options:
1) Keep stock rom, debloat using Titanium Backup (freeze unwanted apps), and use CPU Sleeper. CPU Sleeper does an excellent job of preserving battery life when your phone is in standby
2) do some research and install a custom rom which users are reporting to have good battery life
The more you read on the threads, the more info you will get on everything. Invest some time into this forum. PM me if you need any specific help.
Thanks guys believe i did it all correctly now just to find good roms to flash i suppose XD any recommondations or apps ? My first android been on iphones since for ever

rooting my phone????

Now then guys... i am thinking about rooting my phone to put jelly bean on my samsung galaxy s2 .... i was just wondering views on which is the best one to go for ( LINKS PLEASE ) and is it easy to do you know the usual questions you will have heard them before lol IM A NEWBIE !!!
Cheers People
Download Siyah 3.5.2.
http://www.gokhanmoral.com/gm/2012/07/29/siyahkernel-s2-v3-5/
Tar for Odin.
Then use this guide.
http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-s2-i9100-root-android-4-0-3-ics-xwlpd-88120/
Nevermind it says Cf-root. I flashed my Siyah kernel that way.
After that, flash any rom you want in recovery. Just do a Nandroid backup in recovery and backup apps with Titanium backup from Market!!!

Don't restore apps after flashing newer ROM, cause your phone will bootloop.
Better create text file and write names of installed apps.
Im not sure why everyone is worried about backing up there apps ive flashed about a 100 roms and never had to back them up cause if u go to the play store under my apps there always there
Infact there are apps there id forgotten about just pick which ones u want and re install .some roms auto instal them for u .make sure you have a google acc obviously!

Only if the application is on the external memory card then it's backed up there. Otherwise they'll loose the data if that's not the case.

If you restore from google play, you loose all your app settings and you will have to reconfigure each app.
Also, Google Play will not show apps installed offline (apk)
Restoring app data with third party app like titanium backup is safe if app is compatible with the target rom

in order to install a perticular custom rom , all u have to do is to follow the install instruction's of the same in there OP. and the same applies to all other roms also.
since installation instruction do vary from one custom rom to another

Sd internal memory full. Some questions...

Hi, i'm struggling about an error i get during installation apps on my phone in signature. I receive the message that the space in memory phone is full.
When i have freed space (about 200Mb) on my phone i have not received the message anymore.
But checking the folders in my phone folders i found a directory in Dcim\.thumbnails that contains many only files .jpg (over 2Gb) despite i setted in phone that video and photo made by camera-phone must be saved in external sd.
Further usually i use Dolphin browser and my question is: can i modify my directory output for downloaded files? Do not think so!
Can you help me?

The thumbnails are like cache. They are cache for the pictures. U can clear them. Just tat ur gallery will load slower the next time u open it as it has to download the 'cache' for the pictures again. All browsers shld have directories to where they will be downloaded i think.

Thank you for your early reply!
If i can obtain a faster load when i open the Gallery i would leave it so now..
For the download folder in my Dolphin browser there's not the function to modify the folder.
If i try to go in tab Manage file in Download by browser i can only entry in different directories than default directory but the new directory has not modified

You are right! Infact the file has been downloaded in external sd. Not being the possibility to insert a directory path i thought i couldn't modify.
To free the space again i noticed my Aura Sygic navigator with over 1Gb of data map saved in internal sd.
It would be useful if i can take these data in external sd.
However i didn't find anything in Sygic settings for change of position. .

But in S3 wasn't there this function? Hasn't it been already installed into O.S.?
In other case will not i have problem with Navigator when i move data in external sd card?
Anyway the biggest amount of data concerns the cache for pics that i mentioned some post up! It's about 2,5Gb
If i cancel all pics in cache will be they saved in internal sd again?
What is the purpose of this cache over to load faster Gallery's pics?

I did encounter a similar problem with thumbnail caches. In that DCIM/thumbnails folder there were 2 files taking up around 2.5 GB each. They had the name .thumbdata3 I think. I deleted them but android didn't recognise that I had deleted them, although I could clearly see that the files weren't present anymore. I searched around on forums but found no solution but to factory reset. To prevent those .thumbdata files from forming again I think the solution was to create a folder name with the same name as the file so that it wouldn't form again. Weird

They are thumbnails which are the pic showing the preview. If u get it. Like in YouTube, when u upload a video, u have to choose a thumbnail for ur video. Which shows on the video icon before the viewer watches it. Its basically a preview.

What do you mean when you say that Android didn't recognise that you deleted files?
@JellyYogurt
It would be optimal at least if we can move these cache files in external sd...to avoid a risk about factory reset.
For about map of navigator a displacement to extsd would be good too..

Surfing on the web you find many guides about both ways ( deleting thumbnails and moving data map on extsd ) to free space in internal sd. However it's advisable to follow precises guides to prevent errors when you start the navigator or simply only cancel the .thumbnails folder.

increase internal memory galaxy ace (URGENT)

OK so i have searched for info on increasing the internal memory of a galaxy ace s5839i and there seems to be a lot of info regarding partitioning so i downloaded minitool partition and created a partition on the SD card then used link2sd but this isn't really doing anything, when i try and download new apps larger than the available storage which is 25mb it comes up with the insufficient storage sign and when trying to link the internal apps that came with the phone it just says failure so i would greatly appreciate any help anyone can offer me as i am doing this as a favor for someone and they are picking the phone up tomorrow

Ok i have now linked most of the apps that came with the phone other than system apps and it freed up 90mb which is a big step up from 30mb i had before partitioning however when i download new apps they are not auto linking despite having checked the auto link box and when i do auto link i have to reboot the phone every time to make it take proper effect. Also downloaded apps use up less memory when i move to sd card rather than linking

Been playing around with link2sd and i am impressed its working great the internal memory from the phone keeps changing for some reason that's why i thought it was still taking up a lot of memory but once the phone is rebooted it balances itself out however the apps are still not auto linking i am putting this down to apps automatically downloading to the sd card rather than internal memory so link2sd is unable to create a link for this, any advice on why this is happening will be greatly appreciated

Some apps are usually installed on SD Card. Sadly Link2SD can't link the apps installed on SD Card. Hence you have to move such apps to Internal memory in order to link them. Also because you are using the stock rom which has no init.d support, you have to reboot everytime for your internal memory to stabilize. If you want to install as much apps as you want, then try CronMod Unofficial Script. But for this you need init.d support. CronMod Unofficial will not work on stock rom. All custom roms have init.d support. Just download any custom rom from the link given in my previous post. Download the CronMod Unofficial.zip from the link below. Now go to CWM, do Format data/ factory reset, Format cache partitions, Mounts & Storage> Format /system & Format /sd-ext, Advanced> Wipe Dalvik Cache. Now mount /system from Mounts & Storage and then install the rom from SD Card. Now remount /system and then install Cronmod Unofficial.zip from SD Card. Done! Just reboot and you can see that your internal memory has increased. Now you can install any number of apps as long as you have free space on the ext partition. Make sure to install only necessary apps as installing a lot of apps will ultimately slow your device. Here is the link,
Cronmod Unofficial
Hope I Helped
The person im doing it for doesn't want a custom rom so is there no way to direct apps straight to internal on stock rom? Hes taken his phone back hes happy with it for now but would be better if apps are automatically linked. Now i can go back to using my nexus 5 lol

You can also install a custom stock kernel to get init.d support to your stock rom. Try Rafeal Baugis Stock kernel. Here is the link,

I haven't heard any complaints from him yet so seems he's happy enough with it at the moment but if that changes i will most likely install the custom kernel you linked
