I got a new EVO because my old one had problems, and It came with ICS 2.89 pre-installed
Anyways, does the HBOOT Downgrade Tool work with it, or do I have to use the Downgrade Tool?

Just do the wire trick and flash a lower boot via recovery. So much easier.
Huh?
If you meant downgrade tool vs wire trick, either will work. From my understanding, you would have to brick your phone twice if you use the downgrade tool. Afaik, the wire trick is easier. Ramjet had an easy to follow guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889438

Some have gotten it to work with the 2.89.651.2 build installed, but you have to brick your phone twice to do it. See closeone's thread in the stickies of the Development Forum.

That is not referring to the MR1 build. It says 1.0xxxx. MR1 is 1.13.605.7. That is the pre-release build that was used for downgrading in the original root process. The problem was that build had an old hboot that wouldn't interrupt the flash before the security warning happens. Which was a serious issue when we only had 2 RUUs newer than that to recover with. Anything from the release firmware (1.12.605.6) and up should be perfectly fine.

This does work for revolutionay too to get s-on. I have done it twice. These developers are amazing. You need to know ADB to do it but it works.

I know you can get back to s-on from Revolutionary. I was just saying as long as he didn't use Revolutionary the simple method in the thread I linked would work just fine.
Edit: I just realized you linked to the same instructions I did and you can NOT get back to s-on with that method if you used revolutionary. Revolutionary installs a hard patched hboot that prevents it from being overwritten by any hboot without issueing a specific fastboot oem command.

Hi,
I'm asking here as I can't post in developement itself (2 Posts only)
Is it possible to install this rom with S-On? I had to switch to KingCobra, because DT was bootlooping. But KingCobra seems to be dead.
Sorry if this was already answered before.

You cannot flash DT with S-On because you will need to downgrade your hboot to a compatible one (I don't know if you're CDMA or GSM). That's why it is bootlooping.
GSM. Thanks. Is revolutionary still in active developement for Hboot 1.53xx? Most downgrades seem to be a pain in the ass
I do not know if you know about this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1743466 Follow method A,B and D to get S-off. But its a great alternative if you don't want to wait on revolutionary to make a s-off tool.

It is a bit ambiguous though. if you see the last page praveenkv1988 says he actually did the wire trick before trying this. No one actually says he did this with s-on they just started from there
If you try it you'll have to do it on your own risk. its untested so you should tread lightly

OK. I got rooted with regawmod, then was successful in the downgrade to 1.12 hboot. Now I am stuck on trying to RUU to 2.13 from 1.22. I keep having it fail on updating though RUU. Is there any other way to get that done? Can I just flash Fresh 5.1.1? Or am i not able to because i'm not S-off???

Y don't u just do the lazypanda s-off now since you are stock. U don't need fresh rom to do it. The new base is installed when u install a new rom on the new base. Just flash radios separately which u can do once s-off or just being on 1.12 I believe.

Why would you downgrade hboot and then run ruu to install the latest hboot? If you downgraded to 1.12 you should have no problem running lazy panda. Am I missing something?
On unlimited's site it says the rom requirements to run lazy panda is 1.13 RUU. I was confused on that as well but it hasn't been successful. I'm currently 1.12 hboot with 1.22 software version. So at this point just run the lazy panda?
Someone in mac's development thread stated they were able to run lazy panda on 1.12. You should ask about it in that thread and see if anyone can help
i ran it out of the box no RUU just ran it
Was that you that mentioned it then? I was having a hard time remembering who mentioned it lol
WHOO HOO! I'm S-Off!!! Ok am I finally ready for customer roms etc and I guess i need to flash radios of course.
edit: Thanks guys!
Let me know what customer roms u install. Those sound interesting.

Sorry, but this is not the way to run up your post count.
Maybe if you said what you have installed, what you are trying to do, and what you have tried so far someone could actually help you.
And there's no need to open two threads simultaneously unless what you are looking for in each is totally unrelated, and there's no way to tell that at this point.

Relocking the bootloader will not update it to a different version. If you did the relock to flash an RUU that will update the bootloader to the stock level associated with the RUU and you will have to HTC unlock it, flash a custom recovery, then root the stock ROM or flash a custom rooted ROM.
I suggest rooting the stock ROM then doing the JuopunutBear wire trick to gain S-OFF before flashing custom ROM's to make everything much easier. There are guides to do all these thing that you can find if you use the advanced search mode for these forums and scan only titles for the topics you need.

I guess people should learn to give as much info as possible

More information? I'm going to guess you flashed a rom that's incompatible with your hboot. It hard to say though without any information on your phone or the rom you're having trouble with.

You're new here, so welcome! Let me tell you what we need to know. Firstly, are you rooted? S-on or s-off? What hboot are you running? What ROM are you trying to flash?
I have evo S-ON HBOOT 1.53.007, and i can sucessfully flash 60% of roms at xda (to flash that 60% you must have 4extrecovery touch with SmartFlash). downgrading HBOOT is too risky

Or, you can go S-OFF. It's quite easy if you follow the wire trick.
