OKAY,
Hey all, I'm new here, nice to meet ya names Jake!
So i recently came to own a Motorola WIFI version Xoom. (mz604)
Okay no big deal so far, but when i try to update i get a yellow triangle and the green man.
The problem is the build is h.6.2-21demo.1301358186 and the thing it, it was the demo version in the store.
I have so far successfully unlocked it! Even got to root it! (clock work 4.0.xxx) cool, so now i go to install custom rom, i cant! i am on android HoneyComb 3.01 ergo i don't have any sdcard storage, is it possible to install custom rom over usb, i have tried putting the rom into internal sd, i could fix this if i had sdcard support, but sdcard support came out into the update of 3.2, which i cannot update to because of the demo build!!
So after all that stuff, i would LOVE LOVE LOVEEE to know if there is a way to get around this demo build!
If any other info is needed please let me know!

Looks like the Telus website is ready for the Gingerbread 2.3 update...
Durr: add https and www . telusmobility.com/en/ON/Samsung-Galaxy-S-Fascinate/how-to-002921.shtml
Now if only they'd actually release it
From the page:
As of July 2011, a new firmware version is available for the Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate 3G+. Before you update your smartphone, you need to know your current firmware version.
From the Home screen, tap Applications.
Tap Settings.
Select About phone.
You don't need an upgrade if the:
Firmware version is 2.3.3
Build number is GINGERBREAD.LKF9.
Interesting...the actual update page still says update to 2.2 and takes you to a page about updating to 2.2...of course a couple of weeks ago the update page listed 2.3 but had a dead link...so maybe its actually going to happen in our lifetime
have you tried connecting to kies to see if there's anything there??
Theres a new version of kies on samsung apps today but it didn't get me gingerbread yet. new version is Kies_2.0.2.11071_128_2
Yea.. I updated Kies and still nothing.. hopefully soon.. I grow anxious
I've been totally OCD about update checks lately. I'm driving myself nuts
I was the same way when i first say the update now for 2.3.4 on the update page a few weeks ago...gave up when they switched it back to a link to the 2.2 update...now i think it will be back to a nightly check
interesting, kies is suddenly only reporting my current firmware version and not saying that it's the current one... but not offering anything new yet, hopefully it's a sign of a release and not just a glitch

Yea.. I noticed that too. I suspect that the server it checks is just not responding, but... fingers crossed
Just checked again.. back to normal. Hopes dashed. :/
That makes me a saaaaaaaaaaaaaad panda
I think they just like toying with us
They're mean now that bell has the SII, it might be time to loose telus.
wow
Been waiting for this myself - checked the NS page and there is an annoucement to get the latest as well. Hopefully I don't have to unroot or disable lagfix before trying ... might disable the lagfix regardless though since that appears to be best practice with any ROM.
Tried but also getting the 'you have the latest firmware' message ... doh!
I gave it a shot, I'm running Bionix-V 1.3.1, and it came up with the message "incompatible device" looks like you'll have to downgrade to the stock rom anyways
..double post, I have no idea how to delete

out of curiosity, why not just install one of the many custom gingerbread roms out there? they're no longer the bug-ridden hack-fest they were a few months ago. seeing as some of you already are rooted or running a custom rom, i'm interested to know why wait for stock?
i do understand some people prefer to keep their phones in stock and i respect their decision.
edit: i'm personally running Darky's Rom 10.2 on my T959D. Tried CM7 (nightly 67) before as well, and although that was a headache to set up on my fascinate, it was also nice to see the differences between a samsung and aosp rom.

Second that - what has made me gun shy is that the Telus Fascinate is actually more like a vibrant or i9000 - so custom ROMs have some risk.
That being said heard so many great things about Darky's - would love a how to from someone with our phone and how it is working ...
Heard from Samsung
Apparently not ready but its weeks away, not months.
I took a look around and didn't see another thread answering my question although, I'm so clueless i'm not even sure what I would be looking for so PLEASE don't slam me if I am posting this when it's posted somewhere else!
I have a Rooted Nexus 4 that I managed to figure out how to Root with the Nexus Root Toolkit & I just updated everything today when I plugged my phone into my laptop and the toolkit popped up a bunch of different windows telling me that i needed to upgrade to new versions of this and that BUT here's where I get confused - I got a notification on my phone that I almost downloaded just out of pure habit but the notification said that there is a new version of Android out 4.4 but if I download that, I'm not longer going to be rooted, correct? But then when i plugged into my laptop and the toolkit opened, i didn't get any pop up telling me to upgrade the system to the new 4.4 so I don't know what to do or how to download this new update and still be able to keep my root access.
AND FINALLY just ONE more question - i rooted my phone so i could have a free hotspot but i dont know what else I can do with the phone that will make it more awesome than it was when it was rooted besides just this. What is a Rom and Kernal and all that stuff? I want to have my phone do things it wouldn't be able to do normally and I want it to be different color theme too. I just want my phone to do awesome stff that impresses me but i'm super clueless on all this stuff. there's way too much to learn and i won't remember it all.
So a Breakdown - update system with root access to 4.4
2 - make my phone look cooler with different icons and colors
3 - install apps people who are not rooted wish they could have
Can anyone please help me?? Yes, i'm CLUELESS!! Thanks!!
hi i hope this helps

1.if you update your phone to 4.4 you will lose root.
2.the look of the nexus 5 like the home screen isnt the same it is the same you have on 4.3 but the status bar icons are white. you will have like the tap and pay, and some features like that.
3. if you want to root after 4.4 you will just need to wait maybe a week or 2 for the devs to figure out how to root 4.4 if they havent already.
but if you update your phone to 4.4 and you want the homescreen of the nexus 5 search google for "google home.apk" hope this helps.

I already did root my decive too, but nor clockwork mod recovery and roms have been found yet. I wish some one takes a little bit of their time and help us, because I cant wait to try a new rom to see if my phone gets a bit faster. What I can recommend you is to instal a launcher and download a theme you get to like, and have fun with it until someting new comes up. (Preffered launcher: Next Launcher, found free at the Play Store!)
Recovery almost there
Waiting for testing to be done this week, but recovery may be finished this week..

prism 2 rom
Hey guys i have no experience period with developeing roms, but i am good with computers, so i decided to try my hand at learning and building my own rom for this device.I have have sucessfully made a rom that is mostly stock with just a few apps that were useless removed from it but thats it because i havent really learned much about kernels or anything else yet.I built it using dsixda's android kitchen. The only problem right now i am haveing is error status 0 when trying to flash via cwm. which i learned is the updater script but i have tried everything i could find only to fix it but nothing works. I figured you experts on here could help this newb figure this out at finnally get the ball rolling a little bit for us.
I need someone to help me port a custom recovery to my device: Blu Life One 2015. All I really need is a stock ROM. I am on a Google+ page and tons of people bricked their devices because they installed a stagefright update OTA while rooted. I know it seems obvious and they shouldve unrooted first, but these people paid good money for their phones and the manufacturers aren't helping at all., let alone just releasing the stock rom So, is there anyone out there who could help me. I'd be happy to send you any data you need just keep in mind, I can't use any recovery or ROM to do this.
beep.... need it too

Hey - followed the old thread after I pulled my bricked life one out of a drawer.
Yeah I rooted mine, Yeah it went into a boot loop after the OTA attempt.
Yeah, I spent hours on the phone with Blu...
So here is what is different for me
1) after loading a pc with the qualcom drivers, and qfil program, and the V17 rom - the device does not communicate over usb. (so these tools are useless to me)
2) it no longer boot loops, and ends up after a couple of minutes in ktu84p recovery. The recovery does have an update from sd card option.
Anyone have an update for this method?
If not suggest how to make one from the V17 image?
or
Advise how to get USB working?
Thanks!
Greetings everyone
I have this awesome tablet for my young son who loves to watch YouTube kids
The current FW which is an OFW will not permit the DL of YouTube kids I think due to compatibility issues etc.
I ask anyone to advise on how to load a CFW or something to allow me to run YTK and other items. Obviously I would need android 5 or higher.
Where could I find step by step instructions to do this? I am not sure of the detailed ways so I am needing patience from you.
I would appreciate all the help, so will my son
Thank you
Have you tried rooting it? What model is your tablet - 10.1?

Try the 7.1.2 Nougat Rom
I prefer Nougat without gapps and overclock the CPU to 1400 MHz.
https://www.google.nl/amp/s/forum.x...elopment/rom-android-7-0-nougat-t3471350/amp/
Good luck
I have the 10.1 GT-P 7510 I had XDA root it for me through their 1 click root system because I didn't want to take the chance on messing anything up because you read so much online about people bricking devices trying to root them. I also have kind of the same question, I have an old version of Netflix on mine that runs perfect but would like to go to a newer version, and I would also like to install kodi or xbmc on this tablet so I can take it with me on trips and be able to watch movies. after extensive searching I was able to find out that supposedly kodi 14.2 helix will work on this tablet, but trying to find it is essentially impossible, and when you do find the file it always seems to be broken in some way and wont work, supposedly there is a program called SBMC which is a fork of kodi for this device, but can't find that one anywhere. so my question is this because I am so new to this rooting thing. My tablet is already rooted with Super SU and I would like to know where I could look to get instructions how to install the nougat 7.1 rom or even a different rom to be able to go to some newer apps at this point I have been a little timid about doing too much because at least Netflix is working, and the xda tech told me not to factory reset it update it and a few other things, and a few other things because then it won't be rooted. any help in this will be very much appreciated and please feel free to move this post if it is in the wrong area and I apologize it is my first time posting. I will say this though it was well worth the 40.00 to have xda root it for me because it can be a bigger process than people think depending on the device the guys are awesome.
Rick
I also have a 10.1 GT-P 7510(wifi) 32g. The P7500 and the P7510 are basically the same and use the same firmware. I've had mine rooted for a long time. I use Kingoroot because it's easily replaced with Supersu. As far as ROMs go I've had only difficulties. What I can tell you is that for myself this has been a little difficult up til possibly just recently. There are many ROMs available here at XDA, most of them were unstable. The 7.1 Nougat, https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-10-1/development/rom-android-7-0-nougat-t3471350, looks promising but I haven't got CWM recovery to flash the zip without giving me a "No File_Contexts warning. If I could get a tar.md5 ROM I would use Odin3 in a heartbeat. Version 1.85 is the one I use most and thats just to undo the softbricks, by flashing in the original firmware. If you live in the US its this, https://www.androidlegend.com/update-samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1-wi-fi-p7510-with-ics-4-0-4-uelpl/. Run that through Odin if you ever get stuck in bootloop crash the tab, pretty much anything but a hardbrick. The 8.0 Rom I'm waiting for the developers to complete.
