I've been running on Jelly bean roms for a while, love using Google now but really dislike the fact that theres no HD recording and various other camera bugs, as i always use my camera.
So is there any way to have this feature on a ICS rom? e.g. MIUI, and others?
Thanks
The droid razr hd rom has it and is ics based I've been using it as my daily driver for a month now it's smooth and stable

Hi,
One of my friends has asked me to root and install a custom rom on his phone. I havent been following the RAZR's community. Can someone please answer these few questions:
1. Is there any STABLE JB rom for RAZR maxx? I do not care much about fancy features or anything
2. Do all the roms etc work on droid razr maxx too which are for RAZR only
Thanks

The ROMs that are available now are not ready for daily use IMO. Data is pretty wonky and the camera doesn't work. There's also more lag interface-wise based on my own experiences with different builds. They do have ICS builds of AOKP and CM9 that have working camera and data seems more reliable if you want to check those out.
Also, as long as it's a CDMA ROM you should be fine.
Just wondering, have we gotten any JB leaks yet?

Are you talking GSM? Stuff for cdma has been out.
Currently, devs are compiling CM10/AOKP(JB) jelly beans by using libs we got with the ics updates. Since JB is mostly system/framework changes, we don't need a new radio/kernel to get it working. There are dev/experimental jb builds being posted and updated by devs in the Dev Section. You can find out what features are working and more info on how to flash there.

Pure hate train speculation. Even if true, moto said we would get $100 towards new upgrade if not updated to jb, which seems fair.

CM10 beta?
I'm on CM10 from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801379&highlight=eclipse
Smooth, not perfect yet. But I'm definitely excited for jelly bean.

my upgrade in in june 2014 do you really think that $100 rebate will still be available then? I think not. I am on my second razr and i had orginally got a tbolt, then a warrenty tbolt, then a warrenty replacement to rezound, then vzw switched me to a razr, and that razr has screen blotches so they are sending another razr.... Do you think they will send me a razr hd or s3 at some point?
They have to first try and get you something similar first, so RAZR HD is probably what you would wind up getting possibly.

i dont think moto will release JB for razr:silly:
Looking how moto handled ICS release, especially for GSM, i don't think we will see JB release. Well, at least now we have kexec and CM thanks to dhacker and team. I'm using their CM10 (non-kexec) and pretty happy with it.
I second that

This.
I'm using the CM10 from September 22nd and it's working nearly perfectly.
Only problems I see are the signal indicator, which appears almost empty (even though the signal works fine) and the animation when you change from portrait to landscape, a glitch that only lasts for a second.
It's my daily rom now, blazing fast.
no webtop for cmf10 roms, right?
In the first quarter of 2013 it will come out as insurance against Obama recession if he gets elected and the market tanks Google will need spin. Stock price wise I think it was up to it all time record today . they don't really have to make anybody happy

Hi everyone ,
I'm running ICS on my RAZR Maxx and wanted to consult with all of the knowledgeable people here on xda about whether or not I should flash CM10 Jelly Bean on it or if I should just stick to the stock ICS.
I am running Jelly Bean on my nexus 7 and its so smooth and quick that I really want the same experience on the Razr but I am worried it won't be as smooth if I dont wait for an official update.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks

If you have the CDMA version you can try the full throttle jelly bean ROMs over at droidrzr.com. everyone says how smooth they are.

Cm10 is still a bit buggy but ics based roms are amazing.

Well I went ahead and used safestrap which is amazing. Its not like it used to be where I have to wipe the device first but they have different slots allocated to different roms so I can go back to stock if I want easily plus have 3 more roms to choose from
I went with cm10 which is a bit buggy but still works pretty good so now I'm on cm10 jelly bean on razr maxx woooo hoooo

Many flashing directions say to wipe device. Does safe strap leave a clean place to install the ROM without wiping? If I go back to stock, will all my data and apps be intact?
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
if u have gsm then stay with stock until cm10 is stable enough for daily usage
The new safestrap allows you to allocate 3 slots to different roms so if you want tp.flash cm10 and 2 other roms you dont have to wipe your device. Its really cool

Yes wipe device after creating and selecting the new ROM slot. You just don't need to wipe when switching between slots 1 and 2 after each one is set up.

I don`t like do wait for operator official ROM so I`m using AOKP ROM. I recommend that.
I didn't wipe the device at all.
You can create the new ROM slot and select it without the need to wipe anything

If you're on GSM, I'd say stick to your Stock Based ROM and work on modifications yourself wih init.d, build.prop, app debloating, etc.
If you're on CDMA, you can try to go with Jelly Bean based ROMs though they're still kinda buggy.
I quit JB ROMs on my GSM due to Mobile Data Problems and System Deep Sleep
Yes, I've studied xda for three weeks on the Droid Razr, and I still don't know how to flash a ROM on this thing. Information is scattered, disorganized, and much of it is old.
Let me tell you, figuring this out is a Holy Terror, unlike my old Nexus One. And as a bonus, almost no one will answer any of your questions!
Good luck man, you'll need it. Most ppl give up.

Well its pretty simple actually once you spend time and do the research
First you download safestrap from here:
http://blog.hash-of-codes.com/downloads/
Then you follow the safestrap installation instructions here:
http://blog.hash-of-codes.com/how-to-safestrap/
then you download CM10 Jelly bean here:
http://goo.im/devs/Hashcode/spyder/cm10
Get the latest version and save it to your device (Its a zip file)
I just saved it to a dropbox directory and then exported it to the phone but you can do it however you want.
Then you can watch this youtube video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0i-KZ3dJL0&feature=related
Im sure there are others but he uses safestrap v3 so its easy.
And voila you have a buggy CM10 but its jelly bean
Have a question. Which would you say is the best rom for this phone?

Judging by your signature, you have a Droid Razr not a Droid X2, might want to check the Razr forums....

It depends on your son's experience with android I guess, if you want something stable with little problems I would look into CM7 or Eclipse
Which Eclipse would you be talking about? I see 2 versions.

The latest build is 2.3, that is the one I am using. I haven't tried any other versions because I have a Milestone X2 and wifi won't work with that version

I've set two X2's up on CM7. They are daily drivers and have been for about a year now. I also ran Eclipse on them with no problems. CM7 has more theme/customizing features that some people like. Eclipse is very reliable.
In my opinion it's cm7 can't beat the customization:thumbup:

I had eclipse for probably a good 6 months. I just switched over to CM7 and I LOVE it way more than Eclipse.
