[Q] What does apps does gapps 20121011 include? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I root my GT-P3113 tablet and installed AOKP for the first time yesterday. But after awhile I noticed there was no gmail, youtube, chrome, or etc apps on the device. I did flash gapps, but I was wondering what exactly gapps adds? There was already a Google Search and Voice Search app along with the Play Store and other basic apps.
So what apps are included in gapps? And should I be seeing more apps?

The Google Apps (or GApps as they are commonly referred to) are the proprietary applications by Google included in many Android devices. Most of the applications can now be found and updated via the Google Play Store. Some of the apps include the Google Play Store itself, Google Talk, Google Sync (for adding and synchronizing Google accounts), Google Backup Transport, Car Home, Gmail, Google Maps, YouTube, Google Search, Google Voice Search, Google Music, and Google Docs.

[Q] Install (only) play services?

Dear all,
I am in my "experiment" of having a device as "Google Free" as possible. Right now I have my own server with ownCloud for contacts, calendar and files. Also, my own mail server. For APK I am using the noGapps project (which is no google free, but at least it is not propietary software), and everything works (almost) perfect. The only problem is that some (3rd party) apps won't work without google play services. So, I have tried to install the Google Play Services while controling its behaviour with XPrivacy module. However, I haven't managed to do it.
- As expected, just installing the APK as non system just provoques continuous FC.
- All flashable minimal GAPPS zips also include Google Play, Google Bookmarks Sync and other apps that I don't want.
Is there a way to install the Services, and only the services? And if possible, as a user APK
Thank you!
You can safely remove bookmark sync apks
But need to keep lib files + framework including gmscore and market apks
This is the most minimal gapps setup as per I know

Thanks!
I flashed and removed everything except those you said and it seems working.
As an extra, Google Play was not installed while installed the GAPPs. I assume the NOGAPPs market installed made the system/installer think it was already intalled
PS: For some reason, the (Ofiicial) Chromecast app FC after installing the services (was working before). But the rest of Chromecast Enabled Apps work fine, so not a real problem.

[Q] Problem with Google Play Services (not Play Store)

I have Samsung Galaxy S3 working on Android 4.3
Suddenly problem has erupted with Google Play Services.
Most of the apps are asking for Google Play Services, like Maps, Gmail, Google Plus etc
and on updating it says that "The user id shared with other apps is incompatible with Google Play Services"
It is not clear which Apps are not compatible. I do not use any special Apps, but commonly used Apps like Facebook, WhatsApp etc.,
Any help is most appreciated.

No Need for GApps in your custom rom anymore

- Google Apps are the proprietary Google-branded applications that come pre-installed with most Android devices, such as the Play Store, Gmail, Maps, etc.
- Due to licensing restrictions, these apps cannot come pre-installed with Custom Rom's and must be installed separately.
- The Google Apps are not required to boot or run Custom Rom's, however many users find them beneficial to take full advantage of the Android ecosystem.
- Custom Rom without Google Apps run much faster and smoother but because many users can't manage to install applications and sync their google contacts >>> So they compelled(forced) to install GApps to their Custom ROM's and accept the suffering that will be caused by it.
- Recently totally no need to install GApps to install applications and sync google contacts.
1- Installing Applications :
- U can use one of many play store alternatives like Amazon Appstore, F-Droid, Mobogenie, GetJar, etc.
By far the better, easier, faster, lightweight APK Downloader and XAPK Installer is APKPure.
- U can directly download the applications from your web browser or better Download APKPure App :good: and enjoy it's features and receive update notifications.
(XAPK is file format contains package and obb cache).
2- Sync Google Contacts:
- It has always being a headache try finding a way to sync your phone contacts without google sync included in GApps . no actually free alternatives much, may be one good alternative is DAVdroid which u can sync contacts and calendar to cloud servers and restore them back anytime.
- Lately it has been a good solution to connect to all your emails and cloud contacts in one place, it's the magic solution that many of us was waiting for ..... Microsoft Outlook .
3- Maps & Navigation:
- Many better offline maps applications are free to use and very efficient like HERE Maps - Offline Navigation, Offline maps & Navigation, GPS Navigation & Maps Sygic, MAPS.ME - GPS Navigation & Map, and the magnificent Waze - GPS, Maps & Traffic.
Best wishes for lighter and better Custom ROM experiences.

Google location services / google play services

Hi guys,
i try to keep my phone free from google apps but due to requirements of some apps this is not 100% possible. some apps require at least google maps framework. one does not need to install gapps for that. instead you can just copy 2 files to your system (https://sdgsystems.com/blog/installing-google-maps-framework-aosp-android).
i was wondering, if there is a similar possibility to install google location services. again, this is a requirement of some apps like geohash droid. if there is none, i am willing to install google play services, but can anyone explain to me what this software/app does? does it connect to google / phone home / whatever? do i have to register an gmail account in order to activate it?
Thnx
aeryn

Is Google App store included in Google Framework?

I ordered a Vivo NEX and asked for Google Framework to be pre-installed. Is the Google App store included with Google Framework?

The Google Services Framework system app on your Android device stores information and helps your phone sync with Google servers — and keeps your Google Play Services up and running.
Google Mobile Services (GMS) is a collection of Google applications and APIs that help support functionality across devices. Samples are Gmail, Chrome, Google+, Google Maps, and Youtube. -Google Play Services(Google Service Framework) is used to make sure that everything is running smoothly on your device
