I am owning next to my i9100 a P7510 GTAB 10.1 wifi.
I am looking for a kernel that supports dual booting like the siyah kernel on my i9100.
I searched the threads, but there were only questions about strange things like win8 or ubunto booting.
In fact I am just looking for an 'easy' way as siyah does on the i9100, meaning creating hidden partitions and to mount this partion as /data, /system instead of the normal partitions.
Does any one know, which kernel supports that? I chacked a1 and pershoot but didn't see anything

OK, thanks. Is a great feature that I love on sgs2 to try other roms as second rom and still having all in place of your primary rom without backing up/ restoring all for ages

A. Any rom will have /system, /data, /cache partitions and requires a kernel to boot. Primary rom has all these partitions on the same location and partitions as if you were single-booting. ie, /dev/block/mmcblk0p12 for /system and rootfs for /data and /cache. Secondary rom uses a hidden partition (/dev/block/mmcblk0p9) for /system and sdcard to store /data and /cache partitions. They're stored in /sdcard/.secondrom directory as mountable ext4 block device images (data.img and cache.img).
Kernel partition is shared, so same kernel boots both the roms. If you switch from Siyah to a different kernel, dual booting will not be available even though there's a clone of secondary rom. Internal sdcard, external plastic sdcard, /efs, /emmc, other kernel related virtual filesystem directories, etc are shared among roms.

Hi.
I've rooted my A70s with chulri's kernel and it seems to work ok.
My next goal is to get more app room ... so I guess I need to resize the app/data partition.
I've thought that having my internal storage formatted on ext4, it would be possible to ln the /data folder to /storage/data without problems, but then I should create a boot script for that. The question is... can I do this with my current root status? What would be the way to do it? I'm don't know enough of linux os to make it on my own.
If the system can't be fooled with a ln, then is there any way to resize the data partition, even if I have to backup/restore my current data?
I don't want to use Urukdroid, since all the versions I tried were very unstable on my machine.

Follow chulri's method, or repartition your internal storage in Linux, mount it on the archos, and copy the data there. Then edit init.rc and change the data mount line. If it gets mounted in the kernel, you'll have to umount it first to remount it to the other partition.
Just installed link2sd earlier (formatted partition as ext3). Wanted to flash a different rom. Trying to backup my phone, and clockworkmod tells me it can't mount sd-ext. Anyone know a reason and/or work around?
I think CWM works only with ext4 partition AFAIK. So, you can re-partition your sd card to a ext4 partition using CWM, or you can format the ext partition only to ext4 using a computer.

which version of CWM have you got?
3.0.2.4, which I've used for a while now, always tries to back up my 6GB ext2 debian partition unless I remember to change cards first. no way I leave room in the vfat partition to back up that much data.
I'll put it up on 4shared if you want it.

Guess when I get home I'll copy the contents to computer, reformat, and copy back. Hopefully link2sd will notice the formatting has changed and reset itself

i use CWM to back up my 512MB ext2 partition for my data2ext all the time (with the rest of the backup) and it seems to have no problem, and just to check i just mounted the partition in mounts and storage and it mounts fine. I know some recoveries ive used in the past on other phones would have problems with partitions that were not in 64-128-256-512-1024 MB, etc. format because of block size issue errors that i would get (when mounting or trying to set block size to 4096). I also found that when partitoning/formatting to ext2/3/4 some programs do not properly write the drive formatting and certain systems/recoveries/apps could not properly read them on the android. the best most consistent (android friendly) formats that i have gotten to date were in ubuntu (or any other) linux using "gparted". It seemed to always be the best and usually better than the format done by the phone recovery. Hope this helps. Sorry to drone on and on.
Partitioned originally with gparted. Have since resized to be 2048, and set its label to 'sd-ext'. Now instead of getting an error saying sd-ext might not be supported on my device, it just gives me a generic 'error mounting sd-ext'
I've had ext partition mounting problems before, I'm not sure if the cause is something to do with vold or what, but
after unmounting a sd card to exchange it with another one, it changes the device partitions in /dev/block like
/dev/block/mmcblk1p2
for the sd-ext partition instead of the normal
/dev/block/mmcblk0p2
you can see if this has happened by

in adb shell.
to mount it manually, if the numbering is off,

mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p2 /sd-ext
I've only had this happen with android running, but it might work in recovery too
Switched over to using data2ext. Mounts the 2nd partition as the /data partition instead of /sd-ext. Can manually mount 2nd as /sd-ext from within rom, but it doesn't carry over to recovery.
A possible solution... Create a symbolic link pointing /sd-ext to the 2nd partition? But then again, since /data now points to 2nd partition, is recovery picking up on that unknowingly and backing up the 2nd's contents when it thinks its backing up the normal /data?
I suppose I should investigate.
Edit: Yep it does backup the 2nd partition, thankfully. Just tried to install a theme made in UOT Kitchen, it borked some stuff, and the restore worked.
So I got tired of my weird configuration of running the apps in a mounts2sd with a second ext4 partition on my sdcard and technically nothing should prevent us from running safestrap on the sdcard. So I looked around and it took me a while but I found Hashcode's source code and spent some time studying all the voodoo he does, and most of it is fairly straight forward. Small breakdown:
* Extend TWRP with ifdef statement to add new buttons
* sh scripts get called to perform the functionality for those button
* Swap out some links in /dev/block when you switch between slots and stock
* The entire boot partition including scripts, TWRP, etc are stored in boot image
* The boot image is stored in the stock system under /etc/safestrap
Like I said before, most of the functionality is done in borne shell scripts, but there is some hardcoding in TWRP like creating the .img file to /ss. I really don't want to try to recompile TWRP at this time. As such, I want to limit my changes to the borne shell and configuration INI files only. The simplest answer is to remap /ss from internal storage to the sdcard storage. Another option is to have "system" and "cache" in the internal storage and moving "data" to the sdcard. The difficulty here is since TWRP is hardcoded to create the .img file under /ss, I need to move it during the format stage which happens in the script. The danger with the first option I don't know if the phone will boot if the sdcard is removed. safestrap looks for that directory to figure out the mappings in /dev/block. I think if the directory is missing then it will attempt to create it. After that, things might go bad.
Anyway, what are your thoughts?
i wish and hope your still working on this..my phone is so low in internal storage..i cant even use a rom slot other than stock,,ive been useing stock slot ,flashing custom rom in stock slot....anyways hope you continue to figure this out..i know lots of people would appreciate it..thanks
So I've tried multiple ways and have had to step away, think about it some more, and come back to it. Essentially I was not able to get system to boot off of the sdcard. However, the good news is today I was able to have system and cache on internal storage and data on sdcard. So here are the keys to the kingdom that I have found....
The CM11 (and I assume other) ROMs there is a /system/etc/kexec/ramdisk.img file. This file is extracted (gunzip < ramdisk.img | cpio -iu) into the root directory "/" (rootfs). There is a shell script "/sbin/fixboot.sh" that gets executed by /init at the start of the android (on fs). That script essentially mounts /ss to /emstorage and does all the loop storage links to the system.img, cache.img, and data.img files. I was able to mount another /ss2 to my sdcard and point the userdata to /ss2/safestrap/rom-slot?/userdata.img. The limitation is that vfat limits all files to 4 GB max, so the userdata.img cannot be more than 4 GB of storage.
So an option is I can create an updated ramdisk.img file. You would just drop this into your /system/etc/kexec directory on the slot-rom you want to use it. The only file changed in ramdisk.img is /sbin/fixboot.sh. ramdisk.img is part of the CM11 distribution so you would need to replace it each time you perform an update on that rom slot. Other than that, safestrap would by default create userdata.img to be in internal storage.
The next part I'm going to look at is to create a f2fs partition on my sdcard and have my userdata use that f2fs partition. I figure I should good considerable more I/O as f2fs is suppose to be a good amount faster than ext3/4 and we wouldn't be going through a loop device from ext3 to vfat for all I/O. In addition, my data partition would no longer be limited to 4GB due to the file limitation size of vfat.

So Spyder doesn't have f2fs on it so I've been running ext4. The kernel would need to be setup to be compiled with it. I have a second 6Gb partition formatted with ext 4 with writeback journaling but per my timing tests I don't think it has made a difference. Now I have more than enough space left in both the data and internal partitions. I don't know if it is just a placebo effect but my apps do seem to start slightly faster.
There doesn't seem much interest in this but it was a fun exercise for me. This will be good enough for me as I'll probably upgrade my phone sometime in the future.

I've been playing around with which filesystems I can format the android systems partitions and then install a custom ROM on.
I tried formatting them to F2FS and then installing a CM and Squids kernel found it wouldn't boot, then wiped them back and formatted
them to ext4 (which I think is the default android filesystem) and installed CM and Squid's kernel
and now on boot its asking me to enter a password to boot my android system.
partitions were the filesystems were changed are /system /data /cache.
I really don't want to be admitting this right now that I bjorked my system while tinker gnoming,
and don't know enough to put it back.
But yeah formatting ext4 /data /cache /system and then flashing everything back should have done it right?
Damn think I may have run into a bug in the Recovery where no matter what happens it still thinks /data is f2fs even when its been formatted back to ext4
Never mind unbricked it, I think this is the end of late night beer fueled tinkering for me, but I've restored the system.
Should TWRP have been able to format /data to another filesystem besides ext4 or f2fs and which filesystem was the
default on /data from the beginning?
The recovery system seemed to assume that /data was F2FS and even after trying to format it with something different
the repair tool ran was always the F2FS one and always dropped some error messages even after a format to Ext4.
This whole project started when I got the 'good idea' into my head to see if I could format all the partitions that mattered with
F2FS and flash CM 12.1 R53 with Squid's R8 with the partitions formatted F2FS.
Eh I'm done shooting myself in the foot for awhile (or the ass).
Ended with /system (ext4), /data (f2fs), /cache (ext4) and then flashed everything and the system is running great.
The whole experience was worth getting more familiar with TWRP and learning that it is built noob 'tough'.
And can perform awesome awesome surgery for you, when your done shooting your self in the ass.
By the way bro... I think the data partition on this phone comes in f2fs by default

When i was uploading new rom, partitions connect to one. Many roms have a problems with this. Second partition has a 0MB size. I try upload stock rom by flashtool and no results. I want to restore original size. How I can do this? My phone is sony xperia lt30p.
What ROM have you flashed? Have you done a clean install, means having wiped existing Android OS before?
What's the name of the mentioned 0MB partition?

Don't confuse /sdard and sdcard.
With regards to /sdcard:
This is NOT a partition on the internal storage memory of the device but rather the ( external ) SD card.
With regards to sdcard:
This simply is a symbolic link to device's /data/media partition what is mounted as /storage/emulated/0
And How i Can restore default memory this partition? Partition with external sdcard has other name.
OK it's the partition named /data/media you're referring to.
If a partitition shows 0MB ( can't get mounted ) then this is because it probably is encrypted. Hence decrypt it. The common method is to perform a Factory Reset. If you've TWRP installed / at your fingertips then decrypting also can be done with TWRP.

For me, everything you post is crazy stuff: I can not understand what the problem really is.
Since Android is on the market, it has more or less the same partition layout as shown above. And I'm pretty sure your phone has this, too.
I mean about problem, when i am installing rom, show me comunicat ,,Error instaling zip file 'external_sd/android9 sony t/open_gapps-arm-9.0-pico-20201114.zip" and i wanna get rid of this problem, across restore this partition. Do you know, what i have a mean?
My last 2 cents here: Open Gapps isn't a ROM. It's merely a suite of re-compiled Google apps.
