[Q] insufficient memory error while downloading after factory reset - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
I have just bought a Tablet named IRATHING2 running Android 4.0.3 from Indian company Wishtel Pvt. When I reset it to factory reset using BusyBox Installer, the Internal memory is not accessible it is showing 0.00B and Apps 32.75 MB but before the internal memory was 1 GB and Internal Storage was 2.73 GB. I have lost all the Installed and Downloaded Apps. Under Apps option it is showing No apps and under ON SD CARD tab it also same(No apps). Its is only showing the apps as a part of Android OS under ALL option. Even it is not recognized by Windows 7 when using USB Debugging.
Kindly help to restore my Tab to its original state as it show insufficient memory error while downloading apps from Play Store.
Thnx....................................

[Q] Where are apps from the market downloaded to?

Hi everyone
I was wondering what is happening with apps when you are installing them from the market. where they are downloaded to. is it some kind of temporary folder or what?
I have a Coby 7022(root) and when i try to download bigger app then 30mb, I get a error. the android is downloading ( you can see the progress) it but after a while it it says not enough memory to download.
Thank you
It would seem that you may need to free up some space on your memory card, you can free alot up by clearing your browser history and cache.
there was a market bug that when you tryed to download a app around that size it would give you that error message it happened to me even though i had over 3GB free internal storage but when the market updated that was fixed for me

Download 'market fix' from Google play and run it (it needs root access though).

[SOLVED][Q] Device memory eaten

The Device Memory section at the storage page in setting displays that:
Total space: 1.97 GB
Applications: 1.23 GB
Available: 49.52 MB
Where did the 700MB gone?
This happens when I upgrade the Android from 4.0.4 to 4.1.2. I've installed less apps in 4.1.2 than in 4.0.4 (I wiped my phone before upgrade).
I tried to wipe dalvik cache which give only 10~20MB. How to freed the eaten device memory?
Also, strange enough, I've move many apps moved to sdcard but it seems their data are still remain in device memory. I check one large apps' info:
Total: 165 MB
Application: 100 KB
USB storage app 51.81 MB
Data: 113 MB
SD Card 0.00B
Does this mean 113MB data still in device memory?
EDIT:
I finally found out what take up the near 700MB space.
I delete all files in /data/lost+found/ freed 666MB.
I use an apps called disk usage to locate this.
Jelly bean takes up a lot more storage space than ICS for a start. How many apps do you have installed? I have about 60 downloaded apps installed (not including the pre-installed apps) & I have 0.97GB free in that partition. Do you have a few hundred installed?

In my App To SD in ZDBox (an integrate toolbox apps with app2sd, taskkill, etc function), I have 43 Apps in phone (only 8 apps movable) and 41 Apps on SD Card, not counting android component. But in the "All" page in Application Management in Options, I got 200 Apps including android components.
I don't know which is more trustworthy but no matter how, many large apps have been moved to SD Card. Even from the "All" page in Application Management which includes many android component, I manually add up the space occupied. It is just 1.25 GB.
Where do the 700 MB gone and how can I get them back?
By the way, how many disappeared device memory do you have, Hopper8? I mean when you subtract the sum of all components including available space from total.
Weird. From what I manually added up all apps in phone and sd card, its just 1.25GB.
But there are 1.23 GB of Application in "Device memory" and 1.66 GB of Application in "USB Storage" in Application Management.
1.23+1.66=2.89 GB >>1.25 GB
I am driven crazy.

Hmm. Without seeing what you're adding up, its hard for me to visualize. It does sound like you're missing some space though.
How did you upgrade to JB? Did you flash via odin? Or accept a Kies/OTA notification? I'm thinking that a full wipe is in order. First step is factory reset.

I did a Wipe Data/Factory Reset and Wipe Cache and flash [Stock Official Firmwares] I9100XWLSW (4.1.2) - United Kingdom (XEU) [05-06-13] with ODIN.
It's difficult to make a list of my apps but as for my adding up, it includes all data except cache of all apps installed on no matter device storage or external SD card. I also checked the apps' cache size with a system cleaner. Only 30 MB of Cache in total.
Do you have device memory not inside any categories (not even in Miscellaneous or System)? Strangely I just have one categories, Application, except available under Device Memory (or Internal Storage in some version) section at Storage in Options.
Hmm. And you have used a few different system cleaners and such to have a look at what's on there?
As for my listings for the storage usage, I've got available, apps, and cached data for my internal storage. Nothing else.
I really don't know if I can be of any other help to you mate if there are any other posters who can help, please do.

PS: You didn't flash any pit files previously, no?
Either you've got "hidden" apps or a piece of your nand is not reachable/writable

I've got the same problem. Running Revolt/JB ROM. But had the same problem with the previous ROM (AOKP/JB).
Storage tab in settings reports: total space: 1.97GB , Apps (app data & media.. : 0.95 GB, Available: 242MB.
So yeah. Android's using some fuzzy math here, or something isn't being reported properly.
I did a full factory wipe, no luck fixing the issue.
95 apps, rough count just flipping through the screens in the app drawer.

Google Play - Insufficient Storage ERROR - I Have PLENTY of SPACE

Hi - I am running a rooted, Android 4.3 on a Samsung Note 3.
I have 4 GB free space on the phones internal storage & 3 GB free on my SD Card. I try and install Words With Friends (20MB) and it downloads, tries to install and then says ERROR - INSUFFICIENT STORAGE AVAILABLE.
I have tried to reboot, shut down and restart, delete a 1GB Game and still I get the error no matter what I do.
PLEASE HELP.
What do I need to do

With >400MB of free internal space, I KEEP getting "INSUFFICIENT STORAGE AVAILABLE."

With >400MB of free internal space, I KEEP getting "INSUFFICIENT STORAGE AVAILABLE."
FULL TITLE: "I removed enough apps to have over 400 MB of available internal space. Why does my Samsung Galaxy Victory STILL tell me "INSUFFICIENT STORAGE AVAILABLE?""
---
I'm trying to clear out the memory to make sure my "FolderMount [ROOT]" app will install so I can finally move so many apps to my SD card and reinstall a LOT of deleted apps.
I feel my system is glitching, big-time. It's pretending that 400+ MB free space of ~1.73 GB available is STILL not enough space to install a 1.28 MB app.
Is there a System setting to enable me to change the "insufficient space threshold?" I hope I can change it to something like 2.5% instead of whatever high percentage it's set to now.
---
**UPDATE**: I cut-and-pasted ALL folders from SPH-L300/Phone to SPH-L300/Card. The "Android" file folder restored itself and I now see 404 MB free space of 1.83 GB on "Phone" in Windows, and 607.59MB (32.5%) available through AppMgr Pro III.
Strangely enough, I see "Total: 1.73GB and Avail: 507.25MB (28.7%) (emulated)" under where it says "SD Card" on AppMgr Pro III. (Note that in case you don't know already, AppMgr Pro III doesn't support moving apps to SD on my Samsung Galaxy Victory.)
Despite doing all this tonight, I STILL can't install new apps. *What else do I need to do to make it install new apps again?* And is there a space threshold editor that I can lower the settings on?
Try to wipe cache.
this is a very common problem with older versions of android, which version are you using?

[Q] New apps being downloaded on phone memory despite doing 'ADB'

I have a HTC HD 2 running Android 4.1.2 (Jellybean). I used this guide to set the 'micro sd' slot as the place for storing apps. After doing this, I was able to move all my existing apps to the SD card which was not possible before. Now, whenever I go to Google Play to download a new app, the downloads with sizes above 25 MB are not completing successfully. My available phone memory is 20 MB and all downloads below this size are happening fine. Also, there are some downloads which compete but I get the 'insufficient storage available' error when trying to install them. Thus I am unable to get new apps as the phone memory remaining is around 20 MB.
Can anyone help me out? How to select the storage card as the default place for installation a new app from the Google Play store? I have already checked via 'adb shell pm get-install-location' that my default drive is '2'.
Thanks

Dear Friend ... As the Adb code was , the best way is to reflash the ROM and later if you wanted to move apps to SD , just partition the SD card ( especially in sense ROMs - NOTE : partitioning SD card removes all your SD card data !!! ) ... or simply try using " Link 2 SD " or " App 2 SD " apps ... Good luck
With Best Wishes
