Anyone seeing a problem on CM10 with no ringtone playing sometimes on an incoming call? I can watch the screen reporting an incoming call but no sound plays at all. However I can call it right back and it will play it, then maybe the next call or two and it won't play it again. I was using one of the stock ringtones. It's maybe once every three call average.
It's also happening on AOKP JB Milestone 1. I'm using stock kernels on both.

Funny, my brother's fascinate running PA 2.52 [CM10 base] doesn't play the ringtone when being called. I haven't been able to fix it yet. but if it's a bug in cm10 that would surely explain it.
I think it's in the kernel since it happens on both CM10 and AOKP JB (which uses the CM10 kernel).
I hope someone out there can figure it out. I'm back on AOKP ICS M6 until then as I need my phone to ring.

I'm running it about a day or 2,,, and It is really nice,,, using stock kernel currently, devil 1.8.1 was causing bigger than normal battery drain, and w/stock battery has been great,,,
I do not have the ringtone issue in this one, but i did not have it in the aokp m1 either ,,, although I did have in in some of the earlier builds,,, I think like 9/27 or there about,,,
just looked when I went to 10/7 w/ 1.6.1 it cleared up my ringtone issue,,, and I also believe I may have wiped and installed an older stock jb partitioned rom 1st then back to that 10/7 build,,,
just so it would clear out any issues and go freshly into the new partition cleanly for sure.
OK I'll give M1 a try with 1.6.1 devil and if that doesn't work I'll try Baked. Will report back.
EDIT: Both M1 with Devil 1.6.1 and Baked version 6 have the same problem. I wonder if it's something with the fact that it's 4.1.2?
Anyway I'm rolling back to AOKP ICS M6 for the time being.

have you tried going back to ics then reinstall jellybean? with full wipe?
Are you restoring any apps and/or data??
is so what programs and methods are you using
are you using ringtones that came with the rom your trying out? or loading custom?

1. Yes. Same problem.
2. It happens even without installing any of my apps.
3. I am only using the built-in ringtones. Usually I set it to Pyxis but also tried Perseus. Same problem.

I'm having this same issue on my Showcase. I've had it since I've been on Jellybean. I'm currently running CM10, the nightly from 10/30. I would love to find the source of the issue, everything else with the ROM works great.
Disable safe headset volume under sound settings. Worked for me on 4.1.2 helly.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, this didn't work for me. However, I'm on CM10 nightly 11/20. I may flash Helly Bean if I get a chance and see if it helps.
Finally had a chance to try JellyBean 4.1.2. I was trying out GeeWiz 3.3 for a little bit, then flashed the CWM4_fixed_for_cm7-ODIN file, 3-fingered into recovery, did a data wipe, installed THS build 2, rebooted again and installed AOKP Milestone 1 (stock kernel, not Devil at this time). Before even installing Gapps, I activated the phone, disabled Safe Headset Volume, then started calling it from my home phone. I was able to call it 12 times and it rang every time! I then reinstalled Gapps & some of my apps (manually from App Store, not TiBu), rebooted several times and then tried again by calling it 12-15 times, and it rang every time!
I will keep an eye on it, but it looks like disabling that Safe Volume sound setting really helped. Thanks so much!

UPDATE: I decided to switch back temporarily to the latest CM10 nightly, dated 12/08. No such luck; turning off Safe Handset Volume didn't fix the problem. It would only play the ringtone 1 out of 4 test calls.
I did a factory data wipe, flashed back to AOKP 4.1.2 Milestone 1. Now the phone will ring every time again with Safe Headset Volume disabled. 10 test calls in a row were successful.
There must be something in AOKP that's not in CM10 or CM10 isn't recognizing when the setting is disabled.
UPDATE2: Did a factory data wipe, flashed the latest Skankwich CM10 dated 12/01, disabled Safe Handset Volume, and it works every time as well. 14 calls in a row all rang just fine.
In Euroskank's changelog, for quite a while it says this: "Fix ringing audio focus handling". This cherry pick never seems to make it into the main CM10. You guys think this could be why his releases work and the main CM10 doesn't?

Fix ringing audio focus handling.
Test case:
- enable increasing ringtone starting at volume 0
- start any music player
- get an incoming call
Previous behaviour:
When ringtone volume is increased from 0 to 1, music continues playing even
though ring tone is playing as well.
New behaviour:
When ringtone starts, music is attenuated to make user aware of incoming
call. When ringtone volume is increased to 1, music stops playing.

Well all I can say is it mysteriously fixed itself on my brothers fascinate (see post #2) then on PA 2.52 I think.. then I updated to pa 2.54, and now he's on black bean 6 and it's working fine, ringtone always plays.

I know this is an old thread, but I decided to try out CM 10.1 and ran into the same problem again. The setting is not there in JB 4.2 so tried rolling back to different past versions of JB 4.1.2, including the latest HellyBean 4.1.2 release and AOKP JB Milestone 1 both on stock kernel and Devil Kernel, and even after disabling the safe volume setting on all of them the problem still persists.
I wish I could find a pattern as to why I'm having such a problem with this. It must not be happening on the majority since the CM team hasn't fixed it in the last 5 months.
Hopefully someday someone can figure this out; it really sucks not being able to use the latest and greatest. This is just a deal breaker for me.

Hey ladies and gentlemen,
I am using stock ics rooted and am having sound issue. When I switch to silent mode everything goes silent as intended but when I switch back all sounds work minus text notifications. I usually have to restart phone to get it working. Any ideas? Thanks
Out of curiosity are you using a system notification tone or one that you downloaded? Does the vibration still work?
Yes. I am using pixie dust. And other programs like gmail and group me do not sound. It makes no sense. Thinking about going back to cm9 anyways.
Try wiping cache and dalvik cache. Also try fixing permissions

I have the same problem. I find a soft reset fixes the issue. Oh I am on stock ATT ics 4.0.3
Glad I am not the only one. Even soft tests aren't working anymore. I will wipe cache now and give status update.
you realize there is a separate setting in the messaging app for notification sounds I hope. I'm assuming you've already tried changing this.

Yes I do realize that. It works randomly. As of now sounds are back after wiping cache but I have not switched to silent mode yet. Will update once I switch to that mode and back to normal.
are you using a seperate launcher? if so its probably that needs update. i had same issue on go launcher but when i switched back to stock launcher the issue went away. wow i said launcher alot.
I was using stock tw launcher but just now switched to ported sgs3 launcher. Wiping the cache worked for a couple hours but back to the same problem.
You may have to wipe and start over to clear it up :-( I hate to say that, but sometimes it's the easiest fix. Orr....is there maybe a market app that could do what you want ? I know it sucks reinstalling everything when you've got a bunch of apps. Or try just wiping/system and flash over top of your current set up?

I have the same problem, reboot solves the problem only temporarily. I spoke with AT&T support and they had no record if this. If you Google this problem, you will see it is not only happening with AT&T, but with T Mobile Galaxy S 2 phones that have updated to ICS. I will have a conversation with Samsung this coming week and will post results of my conversation here.
People can't hear me unless i put my phone on speaker. i know there have been posts on this but i can't find anything. help please!

i have tried several different roms. my current rom is Stock w/ Goodies 2.23 Project Silk.
i have tried several other roms to see if the problem is still there and it is the same. however, i did try a CM based rom and the receiving end couldn't hear me on speaker or not.

I am using CM 10.1 (nightlies) and for a period of time I had this same problem. I unchecked the "noise suppression" in the "call settings" options (go to dialer and hit menu then settings). That solved the problem although I've had it re-enabled for a week now and it seems to be working fine. So you might either kill that setting or update your rom.
Hope that helps!

I have tried changing all kinds of settings in the dialer settings. no luck.
I've been on Cyanogenmod for awhile now and I'm not entirely sure when this problem came up for me since I don't get voicemails every day.
Has anyone else had any issues listening to voicemails via the YouMail app? I've tried both through the handset as well as the speaker. The only thing that seems to work is if I put in headphones and when I do that it seems like one channel of the earpiece is all distorted and the other is fine.
Yes volume is up all the way.
Yes the correct audio device is selected.
I have also tried rolling back to the latest snapshot of CM10.2.
Let me know if I can answer any other questions about what is going on with it if necessary.

I used to have a note 2 a couple months ago and every AOSP/AOKP ROM that I flashed, there was issues with the GPS and the navigation didn't work. I am currently running an s4 on the latest stock ota and there is no root method yet, and I'm sure there won't be a boot loader unlock method for it. So I'm considering going back to a note 2. I was just wondering if the GPS issues had been fixed? Thanks guys!

I had that problem after flashing Carbon. I made a nandroid of Carbon, restored my fully functional JellyBeans' nandroid and booted into it, got GPS lock, went back into recovery and restored Carbon, rebooted and got GPS immediately. No GPS problems since.
Yeah I remember being able to get a lock after running GPS in a touchwiz ROM, but I was wondering if anyone had ever gotten a fix for the entire issue. I know GPS works on the S III for AOSP ROMs. Just curious. Thanks guys!

I have not had that problem in a long time. I don't even think it was a problem for everybody.
After rooting I cant get a lock indoors.
Before rooting it could almost tell me which room I was in.
Outdoors its fine.
The compass is another story.
In vehicles the compass is WAY OFF, but indoors or out of the car its fine. :screwy:
Looking for a fix as well
i have tried so many ROMs to get this GPS working and nothing has done the trick, not even a TouchWiz based ROM. I flashed 'clean rom' yesterday from CM11 (which i miss) so I could have gps for my holiday travels but it gave me not a drop of connection. I might as well just go back to CM since it's not working...
I have been searching Google all morning for a fix with no solutions.
It is a well known issue for GPS to not work in AOSP roms. Always before you flash CM/AOKP or any AOSP rom you MUST get a GPS lock in a stock based ROM, then boot into recovery and flash the AOSP Rom. Should fix it, every time. Then you should be able to jump between any AOSP Roms with no issues.

If you are having trouble getting a lock even in the stock TW rom, try downloading this app... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eclipsim.gpsstatus2
Install it, open it, you will find a setting in the menu called "clear a-gps state". That has fixed it for me in the past.

This has been the most persistent bug for me just as with the OP. This app was unable to fix my lock problem and I've flashed a couple of times to get a lock in CleanROM, a stock based ROM, and then overlayed my Nifilim on top. Fully clean wipes each time but no luck.

This isn't unusual as a compass is always affected by close proximity to large metal masses (your car) and to other field generators (power lines, antennae, etc.). You'll see the same behavior in physical compasses so don't break a sweat trying to correct firmware for this behavior.
The GPS problem is another story, of course.
I am running baked_fascinatedmtd_bb-8 and my my does not ring or vibrate with incoming calls. I have tried different profiles and settings. I also do not get vibration feedback touching the screen. Any suggestions?
built-in kernel might be bad. if you still want to use this ROM, try a 4.2.2 devil kernel (don't flash anything for 4.3 or 4.4)
I installed devil kernel 4.2.2. Still didn't work, so I installed AOKP. Even trying to set custom vibrate the phone doesn't vibrate.

voicemail notifications haven't worked on anything newer than 4.1 i think.
seems like i remember that having the "" profiles "" setting ON,, in general,,, caused funky issues like the no ringtone/vibration stuff
voicemail notifications have not worked since 4.1, true.
you will need to use something like youmail.apk or google voice
