USB scanner on a 7 or 7e - Viewsonic ViewPad 7 & Variants

Hello, new to this forum and seeking a little advice, so I hope this is easy (and not too dumb) to start with.
If you can run a usb keyboard on a viewpad 7, and I'm assuming also on a 7e, could they be configured to run a usb scanner.
I'm guessing the scanner might need to be powered separately but I also wondered if the 7e and scanner presented more of a problem to configure?
Regards

I think it woldnt be a problem

[Q] Touchatag

Not sure if this is Q&A or Accessories, move as needed?
Ok, so I have this NFC touchatag reader, which connects via USB. Now, Android doesnt support this I guess because the dang reader needs a login to work or something. However, I emailed support and they responded:
"The reader we sell requires Pc/SC support from the os in order to work. Android currently doesn't support this. There's and custom android build out in the wild that does provide this functionality if you care to experiment. Another path for experimentation is using Android 's USB host mode and try to communicate with the reader that way. Either way we won't be supporting our reader on any other platform but windows and Mac. You're on your own I'm afraid. Best of luck and let me know if you get something working."
So can we get this to work? What next devs?

[Q] Laptop/Desktop to Android Smartphone USB

My Question has been asked, maybe in the wrong forum, maybe I didn't ask the right question.
I'll try my best.
I have developed an application, it's almost finished but I have one more feature.
Detect events from laptop/desktop (keyboard) on Android Smartphone
I have been trying bluetooth, USB, NFC etc... I just can't quite nail the solution. I've been trying now for around 5 days to solve this problem. When the smartphone is plugged into a laptop/desktop I'd like to be able to detect keyboard events (or any type of event) from the laptop/desktop in my android app. Android 4.2.2
The idea is to log events, as the android app (installed on a dedicated device) will always be connected to a laptop/desktop for usage. The events, considering what the are will trigger certain actions on the device and within the application. If that makes sense. So far all is going well... it's just this one feature which I cannot nail.
The phone is rooted, USB Host mode enabled, recognises that it has been connected using USB. But I can't for the life of me find the device (in my development example, a macbook pro) nor can I detect any type of event triggered from the laptop.
Is this possible? If so can anyone please help me by pointing me in the right direction, adding links to resources I can read up on.
Many thanks in advance.
This is a problem which is slowly becoming demoralizing as I cannot finish the app without this feature.
Again, many many thanks for anyone willing to share some light on a possible solution. USB would be perfect but am I missing something?
Regards
Anyone?
To end these endless, sleepless nights
Much appreciated guys!

[Q] How does a piece of hardware becomes android compatible?

Hi Devs!
I imagine this should be already discussed and explained somewhere, but I just can't find it as the word "android driver" is ambiguos and directs me to different topics.
Here we go with the question: nowadays many Android devices come with otgusb, so you can connect usb sticks, and all sorts of compatible devices. But: how to make a device compatible?
Since Android is linux, I assume loading a driver cannot be loaded just by installing an app, so do you need to call google and say "hey I got this new device, can you load the driver in your next kernel?" (sarcasm!!) or ...well...in short:
what the heck should one do if he wants to make a device compatible with android phones/tablets, even assuming he is able to write the driver by himself?
the question may be applicable to a variety of devices... a new remote one bought, a new BT wristband one wants to launch into the market, a usb sensor of some kind, etc etc etc.
thank you!
Ok, so I see there's apparently something called USB Host API, I read a little bit how it works, but I still have questions:
1. Does this mean basically that Android phone/tablet will provide RAW access via the USB Host API to any usb data stream received, and all I need is to write an app to decode that data?
2. If so, what makes a device compatible/incompatible?
3. If all of the above assumptions are wrong, please help
4. this still doesn't answer the bluetooth part, sorry for being so slow

NEW NORD N10 5G OWNER WITH A USB QUESTION

I just activated a Nord N10 5G after a succession of Motorola phones. When I plug in my phone to my laptop to download images (for a phone that doesn't seem to get a lot of great reviews for its camera section, I've found its low-light capability for what I do, taking photos of cars to be outstanding) my laptop doesn't recognize the phone after giving me an audible notification. I'm sure it's something simple, but can anyone tell me what I should be doing? Swiping down from the top of the screen doesn't seem to work, as it's done on my Motorola phone.
Please post here a solution but also feel free to either direct me to an existing thread and send me an email direct to fmc2900r at gmail.
Thanks so much.
Simple things first, have you changed the setting to allow file transfers on the device? "MTP"
If you use Windows, its possible Windows Update has overwritten the drivers that your device seemed to work with.
I know whenever I got my phone I had to install the OnePlus usb drivers but Windows usually automatically installs the driver normally. You could try that, Google OnePlus USB Drivers.

Windows 11 (Ghost spectre ultralite edition prebuilt iso) usable performance 2023

Hi guys,
I recently dug up this ancient piece of hardware wondering if i could get it back into a usable state again, as expected the normal windows 11 edition was almost unusable. So i created an ISO based on https://tech-latest.com/ghost-spectre-windows-11/. Its completely stripped down version of Windows 11 and has an intuitive command line tool to install your needs.
NOTE: As with all custom windows builds be careful about putting in personal data, i don't know the sources, I just added the drivers.
Bugs:
All drivers are already installed, only thing not working is Camera... but let's be honest... that thing never worked please SHARE if you found a solution
Instalation instructions:
Download iso here: https://mega.nz/file/5YwHyRaR#kgjrw2iQI23EvW2V6ReqlUu1-Rs9GT60zzhPXSNU-CA
Download Rufus here: https://rufus.ie/
1. Use Rufus to create a bootable USB
2. Dont use any of the Rufus options to customize your install
3. After creating the USB connect it to the tablet through a USB OTG adapter
4. Press F2 while booting up, select to boot from USB
5. Wait till in the windows install screen (this can take up to 15 mins).
6. Go through windows installation (can take up to 1 hour)
7. your pc will automatically reboot
8. set up admin password
9. connect to wifi
10. open GHOST TOOLBOX on the homescreen.
11. you'll see a menu with numbers, type in the number of the feature you'd like installed and it will guide you through the installation.
Tip: start downloading a browser first
yeah I know, the install time is insane. But at least you will have a semi-usable tablet.
MAKE A BACKUP OF THE ISO( IT'LL BE ACCIDENTALLY DELETED IN THE FAR FUTURE).
THIS ISO WILL ONLY WORK FOR THE FIRST EDITION YOGA BOOK WITH WINDOWS 8. DONT SEND ME A DM QUESTIONING ME IF IT'LL WORK ON [INSERT GENERIC CHINESE BRAND]
Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor
“I installed Ghost Spectre Compact without DEF and I would like to add it. Can I upgrade without reinstalling?” Thanx
You saved my life! Your ISO was very helpful, and the solution you provided was both light and stable. My yoga book was broken and wouldn't boot, but now it's working very well. Thank you!

Thanks, it's good knowing I didn't do it for nothing. I mostly created it for myself but was so surprised with the usability that I decided to share.
Tbh I'm not really sure if this ISO is compliant with the MS Terms of Service. So I would recommend to download a backup
At least this ISO makes the tab usable and I'm happy I could share this goodness
Btw, I discovered that the camera's are not working with this iso. Please let me know if you found a solution
just working with superlite and its not good for audio production like Pro Tools my CPU not working with all cores even if i want to change to make my CPU work with full core from
System Configuration in windows >boot>Advanced option
is grayed how can i fix this?
and if i want to go with compact is any way to ypgrtade without losing setup plugins and configuartion installed before to make the system

I attempted to install Android and Windows Lite on my slow Yogabook, but it resulted in it not starting up properly and being unresponsive to touch. However, with the help of your software, my old sluggish Yogabook now looks great and runs smoothly - almost like a brand-new device. Thank you very much for your assistance.
about the camera, check on setting, camera VO2740 is working well for me. You can try to update the drivers (instead of the battery driver)

This is weird. Tbh I never looked into that and the perceived speed of the device is faster. Maybe there are some changes in this build that affect the multi core performance? Maybe the lack of TPM and windows 11? Is hyperthreading and or virtualization enabled? And have you tried it on the normal version of windows 11 and was it different? It could also have something to do with the limited CPU. I'm busy with my graduation internship, so don't really have time to delve into it myself
