[Q] Overclocking to 1600Mhz? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was performing the antutu benchmark test yesterday and found my score to be 2300. I am on baseband 2.1.71 using DoomKernel v06 I have never overclocked even though this kernel allows me to overclock to 1200Mhz I think.
When viewing other scores of my device, there were people that had gotten a benchmark score of 3500 and they had their mobiles overclocked to 1600Mhz. How is that possible?
Ans also is that even safe? I'm afraid of overclocking at all because I fear it may damage my phone.
Is it safe to overclock? if so which kernel is best for this?
Thank you

i had score 3652 in antutu using doomlord v6 @1229MHz with feralab v20 rom. Try that combination

1600 mhz on x10? Impossible..
Sent from my LT22i using xda app-developers app

1401 mhz possible but not 1600 mhz.. theres no kernel can provide a cpu speed of 1600 mhz..
Please press my THANKS Button if i helped you..cheers.

I think that overclocking got nothing to do with Antutu benchmark result. Because, I tested same Rom with same kernel with various CPU speed, and got similar results, every time.
With X10S v9 and Doomkernel v6 1113 mhz I get 2900.
With DonutHD and Th N5-1 kernel OC 1190mhz I got 3750 on Antutu, and with same Rom and kernel, but now with default CPU speed 998mhz, get 3650 points.
Now on ThGo2 v.17 and Th N5-1 kernel with default clock speed (998mhz) and default governor and scheduler I get 3300.

Then try to set overclocking to 1.2GHz, You will see what happens

Thanks for the responses, so I guess I will go ahead with overclocking and see how it goes since no one said its not safe.. Im already on doomkernel v6 and using DonutHD, so I hope to improve results.
Can anyone recommend me a good application for over clocking? Is this one good? should I use it? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.antutu.CpuMasterFree&hl=en
Also for those saying 1600Mhz isnt possible, run antutu on your x10 and after submitting your score it will compare your score to other x10's and there all the ones at the top are at 1600Mhz

I use the same app. Just remember to test out speeds without apply on boot. If you get reboots or wlod, then turn down the frequency. Mine will reboot 5 out of 10 times running antutu test @1228. But is stable @1190. I also recommend smartassv2 governor & sio scheduler.
And I think a few changes in the build.prop of an XPERIA S will show x10 in test results. every guy wants the best rank they can fake

"No Frills" is free on Google Play.

True. 1600 mhz is way out of the x10i limits. Theres no proof for that anywhere on net, and beleave me, 1.6 ghz xperia x10 would be news number one, at least here on forum.

How many marks you get in Quadrant Standard?

I got 2461 with stock rom @ 1Ghz
I got 2376 with stock rom @ 1gh via quadrant advanced...
pretty much same , 24xx ... bye the way, what is your choice on governer? interactive or ondemand?
I've gotten about 26xx to 27xx

3800+? How did you get that high?
I'm running SGT 10.1 rooted/In Parisv4/Pershoot's kernel and OC @1.4 or so I thought. I read this and opened Quadrant Standard. Ran it and got 1829. I noted this was about the same as those running at 1Ghz and knew something wasn't right. I went into SetCPu and checked "set at boot" rebooted the tab, and my scores are now much betta:
2941
3069
3069
3063
not bad, but based on the advice in the SETCPu setup guide and my experience as an original/gangster of PC overclocking (Celery Sandwich will likely tell my age) this not be any issue at all, for the SGT10.1, but if you start seeing weird ()&(^$# THEN BACK IT DOWN, RINSE, REPEAT AT A LOWER FREQUENCY, if the problem can't be reproduced there it's likely due to instability between frequencies of CPU and main memory. Bottom line step your oclock up slowly until you hit repeatable instabilities/errors/crashes, and then back it down.
Anyone know off the top of their head an app to monitor the temperature of the CPU? I get the battery temp from inside Set CPU along with a lot of great info except my CPU temp, which is typically important for OC'ers.

[Q] Just flashed BCblend 2.6.35.14 Kernel with infected rom eternity 1.2.2

I flashed 1.2.2 rom first than I flashed bcblend kernel. Rebooted everything seems to work fine except I do a quadrant benchmark test and im getting low scores. When I go in set cpu and oc to 1.7 max .8 min i get high benchmark scores like I had with stock kernel. Anybody know whats happening? I unocked htcdev method. Hboot 1.5 with s-on
Are these low benchmark scores reflecting actual performance? If not, then don't care too much about it.
Are you using SetCPU, or a daemon?

I'm using setcpu. No performance is superfast...It's like my phone smoked crystal meth, no matter what I set the CPU speed to. Regardless I'm getting low bench scores. But I'm gonna take your advice and not care about it. I was just wondering if that was normal for a custom ROM and kernel combo.

Try setting the min freq as the same as max. Then select the performance governor, and run a bench. See what that does.

Okay, I set it at 1.6 ghz min and max on demand. Then I ran the antutu bench test. My score barely passed the galaxy s2. Is that normal? Performance wise its real fast though so i dunno if I should be concerned???

Absolutely no need for concern. Benchmark scores are terribly overrated. if the phone feels fast, then ride with it.

Overclocking Question

If I overclock using webOS, will it also be useful with the alpha2?
The only useful purpose it does is tell you how fast you can go.
Your webOS and CM7 are completely different kernels on different partitions. You'd have to OC each one separately.

Thank you for the quick reply and of course there is no way to overclock the HP on CM7 as of yet, correct?

you can OC your CM7, but only in CM7 (webOS and CM7 have nothing to do with each other). use setcpu or an app like that to OC
Setcpu is a paid app, but works great.

i concur, with it, my battery life has almost doubled!
MAX: 1512
MIN: 384
ondemandtcl
set on boot
To OC in CM7, we don't need to flash a different kernel?
nope, stock is the only one available anyway (for now)
I've just downloaded CPU Master Free which seems to do the job.
Having said that, I haven't noticed much difference at 1.5 - but then, I haven't stressed it yet.
Alan
I installed CPU Master Free on my wife's TP and every time I rebooted it went back to stock speed.
I use setcpu with governor set to performance and max set to 1.78 ghz min set to 384 ghz and got a quadrant score this morning of 3561. I backed down after that to 1.5 max/ 384 min with conservative governor. Here is the quad score screenshot:

Wonder how fast we should go?
Performance in CM settings will do the OC for you.
Ooops, no it won't.
Apologies!
Is 384mhz the lowest we can go in Android, or is it because any lower performance would be affected? I know in Govnah the lowest is like 192mhz, and haven't noticed a difference between that and the next number up 384mhz.
Fyi.....
Setcpu is free for xda members. U just have to search for it. The dev has a thread on xda with the apk. If u can't find it pm me

Buy another LG P500 and see if your overclock is higher.
it's releated to the kernel you're using
Sent from my LG-P500 using tapatalk
i agree to unicycler,.. it really depends on your kernel.. some kernel can OC more than 768 but its not stable and will cause a kernel panic then your phone will reboot
i only OC up to 768 and i dont have any problems at all
Lol I can Oc 864 performance bench lastest antutu
kernel CPU voltage overclock
You can search another rom and try it.I am trying to increase CPU voltage so that the CPU could running at a very high speed ,but i have not find an efficent way.I would like to make my P500 Running at 800Mhz stably.Could someone help me?

Just use another kernel or ROM... Each kernel will also give you different governors! ROM PerfectPeso2.2
I use franco kernel 4# with nightly foure. I can overclock only 748 Mhx
It depends on cpu also some can oc 710 and some can oc up to 806

I`m using the same, but i`m stable only on 729mhz.
When i use more, my phone freezes
I suppose that i have bad hardware in my O1.

Thats a bummer.... It looks like I got lucky with mine... On mik_os 6.5.7 got it running about 10min before crashing on 864Mhz... But still, even on 729 its pretty fast!

[Q/ANSWERED] Overclock

Hey,
last time I'm seeing users who are able to overclock their phones to 806 MHz, and they were saying it's stable. But some users, like me, can not reache that value. The phone hangs or reboots.
But why?
--------
Answered
Just because we have the same phone model doesn't mean we have exactly the same hardware. Some people just have a processor capable of being stable at that frequency, that's all.

it depends on the kernel as well as on governor......never set performance as governor @ 806 bcoz the phone is always on 806 and gets heated up.....use smartass or conservative......i was able to overclock upto some 832 mhz using franco kernel ....
